1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sims 3 Pets- Whats borked thread on: 2011 October 30, 21:42:40
Can't fish using the "choose bait" option. I can fish, but any time I try to choose bait to fish, the action immediately drops from queue.

Twallan's Overwatch has a "Fish With Bait" fix in it.  It may or may not be for the particular issue you are experiencing.  I think Overwatch is work installing either way.  If it fixes your particular issue, great.  If not, it still fixes or prevents many other issues.

After having the same Fish with Bait issue, I checked this out. It looks like he may also have addressed some of the other Pets problems:

"Fix for instantiation of animals, which were improperly being created by my mods using Human rigs"
-- Guessing this is the origami pet/alien cat Problem

"Moved the "Pet Fatigue" correction to earlier in the load-up process, in order to get ahead of any sims trying to use it before it is fixed"
-- Guessing this is the problem some of us have noticed with destruction/scratch bars suddenly going to zero.

Ich, sorry, must have my subforums confused.

Edit: thanks Pescado. Not used to using awesomemod for these purposes. Found the enable debug commands config setting. All is fixed now.
3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Lifetime Happiness cheats? on: 2011 October 30, 20:17:19
I have a sim who mysteriously lost all of the rewards she'd purchased with lifetime happiness (I did use editsim on her to remove some of the pudding, so I may have borked her, although other sims I modified in the same way didn't lose their purchased rewards). At any rate, I figured I'd just hack some lifetime happiness in and everything would be fine. I'm realizing that's not as easy as I thought it would be.

I've read that ctrl-clicking next to the lifetime happiness chest with testingcheatsenabled on will give you 500 lifetime happiness (read that here: http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_The_Sims_3_cheats#Control-clicks). After numerous attempts, this doesn't work for me.

I've also read about an awesomemod command 'lifetimehappiness' which grants 50,000 lifetime happiness (found that here: http://wikka.moreawesomethanyou.com/index.php?title=Awesomemod_Console_%26_Debug#Money). Doesn't work for me either. Perhaps a debug mode I need to switch on?

I even busted out a memory editor which cannot seem to identify the address storing lifetime happiness for the selected sim, although I suppose it's possible that it's a rounded off float or something and the editor is failing to find it because I'm searching for an exact match. I could play with that a little more and try to identify the variable by percent change.

It just seems that with all of the various cheats and hacks for TS3, there has to be an easy way to do this that my stupid brain has somehow overlooked.
4  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The infinite grounding loop, RE: Generations on: 2011 October 30, 19:38:28
How peculiar. Got a save for this? I've never attempted to actually punish a sim for anything, because it would not really make any sense to punish a sim for following my orders, and if they're not following my orders, I consider that a bug to be hunted down and destroyed.

I didn't keep a save during that grounding, but if it's as ubiquitous as it seems to be, it should be pretty easy to recreate. Just get a teen grounded. I didn't explicitly attempt to have the parents punish the kid, they grounded him autonomously (I believe once was for pulling pranks at the school and once was for 'trashing the house' - having a party while parents were away on free vacation).

For the record, at the time I was using 1.26, all of the expansions up to and including Pets, no CC at all, and whatever the alpha version of awesomemod that works with Pets is.
5  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The infinite grounding loop, RE: Generations on: 2011 October 30, 06:15:21
I never noticed that interaction, no. It's possible that I just missed it. Even if that exists, this still seems like a poor implementation of grounding. You're grounded for skipping school so you can't go to school and then I'll ground you again for skipping school again?
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sims 3 Pets- Whats borked thread on: 2011 October 29, 19:54:32
Further adventures in freaky pet modeling. This is the origami pet problem:

...that's a cat.

As I mentioned before, it looks pretty clearly like the pet model is being distorted into a human model shape. When I've had this happen, it only lasts for a few seconds, generally when switching between a sim and a pet. Nonetheless, it looks pretty disturbing.
7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / The infinite grounding loop, RE: Generations on: 2011 October 29, 19:49:45
I've had this loop happen twice now. Perhaps there's something I'm missing. It goes like this:

1. Teen pulls pranks / skips school / throws party / whatever and gets grounded.
2. Parents refuse to let teen go to school, because he's grounded, so he can't leave the house.
3a. Teen sneaks out to go to school and gets grounded for sneaking out. Reset grounded time to 48 hours. Relationship with parents goes down.
3b. Teen obeys parents and stays home, gets grounded for skipping school again. Reset grounded time to 48 hours. Relationship with parents goes down, grades go down.
4. Huh
5. Teen fails at life and ends up shooting heroin under a bridge, I guess.

The only way I've found to get out of this loop is to wait until the weekend comes around, because groundings are 48 hours. But by that time your teen is either failing school or his parents want to murder him for constantly sneaking out. It seems the only way to really avoid it is to have perfectly behaved teens who never get grounded. Perhaps because I'm a moron, I haven't tried to turn on the cheats and kill the grounded moodlet, I suppose that might make the parents forget about it. Regardless, it seems like getting punished for skipping school after being forced to skip school is a problem. Perhaps there's an awesome solution?
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sims 3 Pets- Whats borked thread on: 2011 October 29, 05:16:13
Small dog head distortion example:

I made another small dog and, as far as I can tell, this isn't happening, but the problem may simply be that it's so subtle with a normal dog's head that it goes unnoticed, whereas it becomes extremely pronounced when the dog has a very wide head. It could also (perhaps more likely) be due to a particular setting in the Dog CAS system for head size/shape. There is actually a setting which reads something like "bulldog head shape." That may be the culprit.
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sims 3 Pets- Whats borked thread on: 2011 October 26, 17:19:25
I've noticed an odd graphical glitch. On two separate occasions I've made small dogs using the bulldog breed (a small dog with a really wide head) and noticed that any time the dog turns its head, which is part of most of the small dog animations, its head becomes distorted/elongated. The head skews instead of rotating, like a square becoming a parallelogram instead of turning.

I haven't tested this extensively yet (maybe someone else has noticed it). I don't know if it happens to any small dog, but it appears to happen to any bulldog. I'll try to grab a screenshot next time.

I've also noticed dogs' destruction meters suddenly going from full to empty when the dog is selected, and on one occasion I've had a dog do the horse-entering-subway origami stunt mentioned in this thread, which appears to be the game trying to model the dog in the shape of a human (and looks pretty disturbing). This also happened when switching between a sim and a dog, there was no subway-entry impetus for it.
10  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Run, sim, run on: 2010 June 30, 02:31:25
My only complaint about running is that sims can't run down the stairs, too. We really need a banister-sliding animation.
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Is there any way to edit a library fambly? on: 2010 June 29, 01:15:02
If using AM, you can also CTRL-SHIFT-C, then type "setconfig enabledebuginteractions true".  Put your fambly into a house, go into that house, and you should be able to CTRL-SHIFT-click on a sim and adjust relationships that way.  When you're done, extract them back into the fambly bin.

Editing relationships this way only affects friendships, etc. Can't do familial connections. Good idea, though.
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Is there any way to edit a library fambly? on: 2010 June 24, 08:21:22
I built a a few sims in the library, saved it, and decided later that I wanted to add another. I'd just do it separately and have them move in later, but I wanted to make relationship connections. For the life of me, I can't figure out a way to edit the family I made, or even import the sims from that family into a new family. As usual, I assume the problem is that I'm stupid, but I'd rather not have to make all of them over again. Is bodysnatching with AM my best bet?
13  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: House Hoppers on: 2010 June 24, 02:03:07
Playing in Sunset Valley and I'm suddenly seeing this as well. Almost every family in the game appears to have up and moved all at once.

AMB+AM using Awesome story driver.
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Halp - I broke Sunset Valley... but not Riverview or Twinbrook on: 2010 June 23, 18:38:58
You did give me an idea, though. It may be worth noting that a game I saved in China won't load either.
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Halp - I broke Sunset Valley... but not Riverview or Twinbrook on: 2010 June 23, 18:34:21
I didn't combine the actual .world files, no.
16  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Halp - I broke Sunset Valley... but not Riverview or Twinbrook on: 2010 June 23, 18:21:04
Apologies if this is a known issue. I'll attempt to duck all rotten vegetables thrown in my direction and hide my face in shame if it is.

I recently went through Anach's combine-packages-to-speed-up-your-game process. I dutifully unwrapped all of my sims3pack files into separate package files, sorted them according some scheme that made a modicum of sense, and combined them into new packages. I could kiss Anach, the game runs so much better it's unbelievable.

...but it only runs if I'm playing Riverview or Twinbrook. I get a CTD if I try to load a Sunset Valley saved game or start a new Sunset Valley game (dasmx86dlll garbage). Unfortunately, my primary game is in Sunset Valley.

I've already tried blowing out the Sunset Valley objectCache. I can see where the game has attempted to make new Sunset Valley cache files in the worldcaches directory instead of the directory where the Sunset Valley cache originally is. But the new caches are really tiny, presumably because Sunset Valley won't actually load.

Running WA+AMB+AM (AM still seems to work fine).

Any ideas?

My inactive household sims don't appear to be doing their homework (beforehand or during school - work on late homework isn't getting autoselected). Could be that my sims are just dumb. Could be that I'm just dumb.

Rebooting also doesn't always work. I find it more useful to remove the awesomemod, load the game (don't play, just let it load to and quit without loading any neighborhood), then install the awesomemod again and it works. To me this worked everytime, while other things seemed random. But it looks like it's different for everyone.

Edit - this seems to work too, perfectly, every time:

So, I've been having the on-load crash more often recently (wasn't getting it at all before). I think I've found a solution that works every time, for me, at least.

1. delete the cache files
2. start the game. It crashes. The cache files are regenerated, but they're all, like, 1k
3. don't touch the new cache files, start the game again. Everything works.

So far, that method is 3 for 3, but any other method seems to fail.

(I don't have the errorscript package installed right now, FYI).

If this persists, I may just make a copy of those fresh cache files and write a little batch file that overwrites the existing ones with the fresh ones before starting the game.

Added the errorscript package back in, but also updated awesomemod. Behavior seems consistent. I'm working on a theory, but I bet this works for everyone:

1. If you don't have errorscript.package, you'll need to clear out the cache files every time you start the game. Run the game once to regenerate them (it will crash), and then the game will work, but you'll have to repeat this process every time you start the game.

2. If you DO have errorscript.package, the above is only true if you have updated awesomemod. As long as you don't update awesomemod, the game will start fine. When you update, you'll need to clear out the cache files, run the game once (crash), and then it will work fine and continue to work until you update awesomemod again.

So far the above is consistent for me.

21  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Career Profitability and Perks on: 2009 June 09, 14:00:45
Perfect quality deathfish look to sell for about $900-$1k. Fishing for deathfish looks like it could be pretty lucrative. Too bad they're only available from midnight to 2 am.

Midnight to 5am.

Build a pond on your sims' lot, have them stock it with deathfish.  Deathfish can then be caught at any time in that pond, you are no longer limited to midnight-5am fishing to catch them.

To stock a pond requires 10 of the type of fish in your sim's inventory.  You can stock a pond with more than than one type of fish - you can stock the pond with all 21 types of fish if you want.

Not sure what happens if you switch households, as I'm only partway through a rotation and haven't gotten back to the ponds I stocked yet.  Hopefully the ponds will still be stocked next time I play those lots.

This sounds like a short route to being filthy rich. My sim caught 6 deathfish between midnight and 3 the other night, and 3 were perfect, for a total of 4-5 grand for 3 hours fishing.

Hm. I just updated to the latest awesomemod, and my game crashed while I was playing, not on startup. It's never done that before.

1. Replaced original awesomemod with new awesomemod.
2. Got a crash on startup, added the enablescripterror package
3. Game started. Crashed 4 times during gameplay. Never made it through a full day with my sims. Crashed after about 15 minutes of real world time. I didn't notice a specific trigger before I switched back, but 2 of the crashes happened while all 4 sims were asleep, so it's likely the 1AM issue everyone else is reporting.
4. Replaced new awesomemod with original awesome mod.
5. No crashes yet, played through several sim days.
