1  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Request Thread on: 2012 September 09, 02:07:17
I'm not sure if this is a bug or a 'feature', but after you get the ability to use elixirs like roofies in drinks, you loose the ability to throw the elixirs. This makes certain elixirs almost useless, because to even give a spiked drink, you have to be friends with the sim and they have to be interactable(which zombies aren't), and then it's up to them to use it in their inventory. So my request is to make it to where you can throw elixirs, regardless of how high up you are in alchemy.
2  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Updater (v2.2 - Updated 11/20/2010) on: 2010 November 21, 22:50:27
Just one more vote for the Error code 4 with 2.2. All is working fine with v2.1, but 2.2 isn't finding wget in the Windows folder.

Btw, I can't thank you enough for this awesome piece of coding.
The error codes seem to be one off in the .bat. I have the same problem, I think it can't find the sims 3 folder in "My Documents".

According to the official site the launcher will always patch only the base game and the most recent EP or SP. This makes me wonder whether manually patching the other expansions nevertheless is actually a good or necessary thing.
I am asking myself this also because upgrading to Ambitions has borked more things in WA than just the excavation sites when on vacation as I have now been lucky to discover after playing France last night (see the What's borked thread). But as I am on a Mac I cannot update manually anyway at the moment as I haven't found a manual download on simsprograms yet. (Are there other sites, btw?)
I tried loading a save and it got stuck almost finishing loading. I think that would work if didn't already have everything else patched.

That may be an unrelated issue. Try temporarily removing or disabling all your mods and custom content and seeing if it will load. If not then try a new game (again without custom content and mods).

If you get the game to load in those instances it's likely some old mod or downloaded content causing the issue.

In theory, you shouldn't explicitly need old episodes patched as long as the base game and most recent episode are.
It was unrelated. Super computer was causing it to not load. It would still be nice to be able to update world adventures though :/.

I used to patcher off of mod the sims, and it patched everything up to the newest versions, except world adventures. The 2.7.7.006002 to 2.9.10.007002 patch fails at 99% because it claims the TS3EP01.exe is invalid  Huh. Does anyone happen to have a non invalid 2.7 executable? I never touched the executable, so I don't know how it could be broken other than eaxis breaking it themselves.
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Creepy Doll in ur files messin with ur Sims3Packs on: 2010 June 11, 04:31:57
This kinda makes me wish I made things in sims3pack format.

Make a Tails Doll doll...sneak it into your stuff...watch as it spreads like wildfire throughout the community, infecting game after game exponentially, and people start to worry about where this bloody little fox doll in their game came from.
A tails doll would be cool, that creepy doll isn't.
7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Twinbrook Sims Un-Uglified. Kinda. on: 2010 June 08, 05:53:47
Saving a .sim file with the same name as a premade sim changes that premade sim, for real? That's awesome...

Do I really have to hold your hand on how to bodysnatch?
You have to make a new sim using the new sim version. Then enable testingcheats and bodysnatch new sim while playing as old sim. You can't magically update old sim just by putting new sims in the bin.
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Simbots are awesome on: 2010 June 07, 00:18:22
The fact that they have to go to the bathroom and sleep in beds really pissed me off, so I got rid of them. It's like EA didn't feel like adding any new programming to make them actually function differently. It's just a sim wearing a robot suit.
Wait, what? Simbots PEE?
Sim bots do everything but take showers. Also, bodysnatch works with them, due to the fact that they suffer from Big Foot syndrome from the sims 2; they are just make-up upped. I made a servo using the servo skin someone did, and then a snatched a human's body and it works fine except for the odd eyelids while sleeping.
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's Fixed on: 2010 June 06, 21:30:03
They also get a sekkrit outfit relating to their time, which is then unlocked for everyone else to use or something.

See, I found (and unlocked for use) a caveman hair, but then I started wondering...where the heck you'd even get said hair? Like, do you go back in the past and pop out revealing your sim lived for a time as a caveman, and then he can style his hair that way? Or what?

From what you're saying, if I have a kid in the past, and he comes out as a young adult, he'll have caveman hair?

Which just...makes...no sense at all, but whatever.
I had a Teen girl dressed in sorta a french fashion with a hat with a draping scarf, and then an adult woman dressed as a cavewoman, no special hair though. Both times I tried for baby in the past. Time machine seems like the perfect way to get offspring without having to deal with the "meh" stages, larvae to 12.

Did anyone ever do anything with the crazy science vat thing in awesomemod? The RTFM said something about needing a 3rd party mod to actually work.
11  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 1.2.7/2.7.7/3.3.11 TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 06, 19:30:06
I've not had many problems with the newest awesomemod. The school doesn't work, like everyone said. Also, I once got that opportunity motive drain thing people were reporting later, though it didn't kill the sim 'cause I deleted the bad moodlets. His motives got sorta static though, and the opportunity completion noise kept playing until I dragged his hunger bar down to kill him, which the bar immediately popped back to where it was. My fire chief sim couldn't collect his community award thing from the town hall, may be awesomemod related or just a bug.
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Simbots are awesome on: 2010 June 06, 19:24:03
I'm pretty sure that headgear is from the time machine. There's a chance your sim will come back with special new clothes or accessories.
I'm doubly sure that that "headgear" is a sim-bot's head, a male one to be precise. Though, i've yet to see a blue male sim-bot.
13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Death AND Destruction! Meteor Strike on: 2010 June 06, 19:16:48
It would be awesome if someone made a mod where you could trigger a meteor strike on a sim. That way, killing annoying sims would be 200x more explosive, and thus more fun.
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Colonization 212 - A New World on: 2010 January 02, 21:21:40
Noting your observations. I haven't notice any problems placing stuff on lowest level, and my sims seem to go to work ok - besides some that have lots with accessibility problems which I am researching. The lot prices are experimental, the idea is to have really cheap lots for newcomers, but I will adjust these for the next version (which will be released after some extensive testing and adjustments).
I seemed to have fixed the item placement on the bottom floor, but this was after I reinstalled the DLC stuff and the world, and then moved the world to the nonpackaged worlds folder. I still have hiccups though, maybe you can offer a version without the domes for slower video cards?
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Colonization 212 - A New World on: 2010 January 02, 04:20:09
I really like your neighborhood, but there are a few hiccups. I have to manually tell sims to go to work because they won't automatically due to the lack of car-pools. One of the domes has houses for a negative price. The game hiccups every few sim hours for a few seconds before resuming. On the negatively priced bunkers, it has issues placing objects on the lowest basement, and the problem continues on each basement below it if you add more. Also, I can't seem to move a sim out, because the game crashed to desktop when I try. Did I somehow install the neighborhood incorrectly thus causing these problems, well other than the car-pool which is just caused by the lack of roads?
16  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Red CAS and colored graves on: 2009 July 23, 01:05:57
Nice graves! It now makes it much easier to tell what sims died of. Does anyone know how to get the obelisk grave, though? I've been able to get the standing one (most of my sims that complete their LTW got it, probably 100k aspiration thing).
17  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Nude Replacement Skin for Sims 3 on: 2009 July 12, 07:45:57
How do you get the sims naked?
You could use "disableclothingfilter true", then "dresser" the sim and select the nude top and bottom.
18  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How to Torture Sims on: 2009 June 09, 22:44:30
Anyone try burning down an entire street yet?Hope we can get a "Start fire here" menu like we have with the Insim for Sims 2,lol. Ok, lets start a fire across the street, then onto the next house, and so forth............Sims Wildfire!
Doubt it is possible unless some makes some hack, Pyromaniacs can start fires, but typically it goes out too quickly and only stays on one tile.
19  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 June 02, 18:16:27
Apparently there is male pregnancy, but it can be had through traditional means. Why? Because men can totally reproduce with each other and ghosts, but the thought of an alien sticking a probe up your ass is totally beyond the conceivable.

They do have interests tied to many traits. However, not sharing the same interest doesn't have as much of an effect. There are so few ways to piss off a sim anymore. Flirt with the unflirty or poke them. That's about it.

Photo albums...I don't miss the superfluous thumbnails, but I hate that we can't change the default photo size. I'm not sharing anything over 500 pics wide, so I have to resize every frakking image.

I really miss the pianos, if only because the sound in TS3 is so well done that I'd love to hear piano music. I played piano for 10 years. My grand aunt was a concert pianist in Germany. I grew up with that. My personal opinion is that they included the guitar instead because of the success of Guitar Hero.
The male pregnancy has to pertain to the townies spawning random spawn regardless of sex and relationships right? No matter how hard I try, males don't get preggers on TS3. I too miss the piano, but I would be cool to get the synthesizer like on the sims 2 or some other instrument, but they would probably have their own skills or change the "guitar" skill into the "musical" skill, which is unlikely to happen due to EAxis's track record.
20  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 June 02, 07:57:43

The ‘official' Casanova does not even look like he could swoon the pants off a dead guy, let alone a living one. You would think that an ‘official' TS3 product would have better looking sims.

Though after reviewing their purchasable hairstyles I think I should reconsider where I am placing my confidence.

At least the "official" Casanova looks like Lothario from TS2, though it then puts another kink in the whole story of the TS3, along with such plot holes as the book "Where's Bella?". I wish they would of got someone who had some personality so that we would actually care about some old guy's plumbing issues or some family's garden. I find it hilarious that they think that only people with the "official" game will be able to get their grubby little hands on riverview Tongue.
21  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How to Torture Sims on: 2009 June 02, 05:39:59
You cannot kill ghost sims. They cannot starve to death, feel the effect of flames(they don't even get the "on fire" moodlet), or be electrocuted fatally(instead of being electroced fatally, the tile they are standing on bursts into flames), or drown (they get the "drowning" moodlet, but it goes away after a while, like they just got bored of drowning :/). They can however "return to netherworld" by clicking on the tombstone in their inventories, or they can die of oldage. Dying of oldage isn't excatly dying of oldage, they just "lose their connection to this realm" or something like that.

Here are the five tombstones. Some pre-dead sims have better ones, like Erik Darling (Mrs. Crumblebottom's lover).
22  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How to Torture Sims on: 2009 June 01, 06:37:09
I finally killed a sim via electrocution. It's really easy if you have a technophobe sim in the household who can sabotage electrical items. Then you have the sim who is going to repair the object wet themselves and then attempt the repair while standing in their puddle.

Here is a picture of all the ghosts Tongue. From the left to right, Electrocution, Starvation, Drowning, Fire, and Old Age.
23  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How to Torture Sims on: 2009 June 01, 03:42:34
My first sim had a fairly high mechanical rating and was upgrading a stove... while standing in a puddle from a leaky faucet.  He got electrocuted and died 4 times in a row.  But the grim reaper kept letting him not die.  I dunno if that was because he was my only sim in the household or if it was because I had planted a death flower... or most likely just good luck.  (Or maybe it was because he had the unlucky trait... as the message kept saying something about how the grim reaper would let me live because my sim f*ing up was humorous to him.  Don't remember the exact message).  After the 4th attempt and immediate death I realized that standing knee deep in water probably wasn't a good time to stick my metal screwdriver into the nearest socket.

Anyway, I think you CAN kill off sims with high handiness through electrocution if you have them repair/upgrade electrical items while standing on a puddle.
What was the color of the ghost before the grim reaper resed him? I've never had anyone die from electrocution, mainly because they are typically handy, and it would be hard to test for it :/. I dunno if it's relevant, but instead of having LTW on the tombstone, it is now how they died. Ghosts and their children USUALLY carry around tombstones, but I've had two spawn that were born without one.

Oh, and you can't kill ghosts the way they died originally. I've only tested it with starvation ghosts though, they wouldn't die of starvation even when I moved the bar to empty.
24  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Share pix / vidz of THE HORROR here on: 2009 June 01, 03:30:49
So the ghost child color is directly linked to the color of the ghost parent? Some of the faces sims pull make me giggle. That cross-eyed sim guy is hilarious.
They also carry the same tombstone as their ghost parent, which I find is weird, because you can insta-kill ghost people by "return to the netherworld" or something like that.
25  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How to Torture Sims on: 2009 June 01, 03:21:52
I've been able to kill sims with drowning (blue watery ghost), fire (orange-red ghost), starvation (purple-pink ghost), and old age (white-sparkly ghost).
Unlucky sims cannot be killed by the first three (fire, water, starvation), well they can be killed but the stupid Grim Reaper resurrects them for his amusement.
It is really hard to kill a sim with fire, I made a 3x3 room with lit fireplaces in 7 of the 9 tiles, put a chair in the middle, and used the largest carpet (with moveobjects on cheat). Sims can't die by fire while sitting, they have to stand up, thus the 7 of 9 tiles with fireplaces.
I've had one sim last 3 sim days before starving :/ in a box.
Really easy to kill with water, just box in the pool and wait for them to tire.
You can use the testingcheatsenabled cheat to "age up" sims to old-age death.
