1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sims 3 + Windows 7? on: 2009 June 03, 18:32:42
I'm currently running TS3 on windows 7 RC7100. Everything runs well, I've yet to find a game in my collection that doesn't run equal or better (dx10).

Win7 is a major improvement to not only vista, but a clear upgrade from XP.

I hate that I'm missing out on being able to play before the release date. But after buying a new psu and replacing my old case with a new Antec Nine Hundred, it's still crashing a few minutes in. I think it could be because I'm using stock thermal compound on both my video card and processor, so I ordered some Arctic Silver 5, but that won't be here until Monday. I thought changing my case, buying a new power supply and installing a VGA cooler would be enough, but I guess not. But now my computer is even crashing on Guild Wars (that's never happened before) so apparently whatever's wrong, it's getting worse.

Are you sure it's heat related and not memory or disk?

I think probably the do x amount of y wishes are tiered for each profession. Probably directly linked to the amounts in the journal as well.

Paint x, Catch x fish, Upgrade x objects etc...

When you have two files in the Worlds folder you can choose between two Neighbourhoods (from the drop box) to build your game on. They are world templates.

Next!?

They are more than that, it loads something(s) from them every time you load a save.

I just dont see the point in dickheads out there, causing issues with dodgy torrents, and viruses and shit.. its the corporate world they should be going for, not the Bob/Betty Newbie! There just inst any point!

Because some of those people have credit cards, bank routing information, wow accounts, brokerage accounts. Ever heard of a keylogger?
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Brokeback/Fresh Mountain -- Plenty of new YA Genes to pollinate! on: 2009 May 27, 06:09:58
I think they are actually savegame templates or something similar.

Hi, I'm a long time lurker, here to annoy you ...

I noticed at least one person mention that they were playing Sims 3 on a laptop - so, for those of you who've been using one, I'm curious - is it a super spectacular gaming laptop, or just a really good regular laptop?

Also, thanks to everyone who's taken the time to post pictures.  They rock.

Standard MacBook Unibody(2.0 core duo, 2gb ddr3, nvidia 9400M).

If your Sim has already fulfilled their LTW, the option to change their LTW in the rewards panel disappears and they can't get a new one.

bogus, I'd planned on going through more than one.

Also, wasn't there a way to re-choose your lifetime wish?

There's a reward for that, but I forgot what it was called. I think it was either Mid-life Crisis or something else.

I thought there was as well, but for the life of me I can't find it. Mid-Life Crisis just let me choose traits, not the wish.

I was hoping my sim could relax & use his laptop, but he got up and went to the table. Oh well.

Also, wasn't there a way to re-choose your lifetime wish?

What's your source on that?

Yeah, I'd be happy with that.  I created a decent looking male sim, but forgot to check what the female analogue looked like.  Probably will end up with horrble spawn, especially considering the lack of any attractive potential mates for him in my game.  It HURTS!

Do what I did, go to the 'edit town' mode, and make him a suitable mate. In my case, bright blue.

I play on my macbook when I'm out & about, I don't mind the command + drag to rotate. I am glad they added better camera control to the ui buttons though.

MagicISO seems to be clean, and it's worked for me on both XP and win7.

I'm in Bin right now and I replaced "Shaders_Win32.precomp" with "Shaders_Win32.7z". I booted up, didn't work, undid it, works fine. Am I needing to change the file name or am I not even supposed to be replacing the former, only putting the latter in?

.7z is an archive, the .precomp file is in it. Get a 7zip extractor.

Hmm, it's not cooperating for me.

I open up the game, it crashes and says this:
Quote
Unable to start game

Service initialization failed (0x024e424f)

I clicked okay, then got:

Quote
EXCEPTION RAISED

Unhandled exception 0x80000003 at address 0x00575bb6.
Do you wish to debug it ?

I clicked no, for now, but should I debug?

Double check that you got the replacement file in there, on my macbook it didn't write the file the first time, and without that file I got a similar (if not the same) error.

Appears to work on both  my macbook and my windows 7 desktop.

Yes, in the "edit town" mode you can package up sims, lots, etc... and also just pop them into your My Documents custom content folder to import. I tested both this afternoon.

Which MB do you have? It runs great on my 2.0 unibody, she gets hot though.

I used magicISO on my windows 7 install, worked fine.

The mac version is just a cider/wine wrapper around the PC version, all the files should be the same.
