Another tip for the new guy:

We don't like double posting here. We prefer, that if you have multiple people to respond to that you use the quote function (which you know how to do) and combine them all into one post. Some other forums want one reply for each post, but here it's different (we frown on post count pumping and bumping threads) If you can, modify your posts and combine them all into one. When you are making a new post, you can scroll down and view older posts and hit the "insert quote" button and it will automagically add the tag to what you are typing.

Good luck. I'm letting you know all this because you seem to actually be trying. Keep it up.
Hm. The only thing that comes to mind is that, when you created the .js file, your text editor saved it as .txt (which if you used Notepad, I believe it'll do by default). If you have common file extensions hidden (which is default in Windows XP--the files display their names and the appropriate icon, but no extension), the .js file may look like it has the right extension but actually be seen as a txt file by programs--and you'd end up with the result you've gotten.
Is it giving you any errors? Do you have Noscript enabled on Firefox? You might check to make sure you have given permissions for the scripts on the pages to run.

Okay these are out of order...but whatever. XD

I don't have noscript. So that's not an issue.

I'm gonna try and see if it's actually a txt file...if it is, then that is another part of the windows system that irks me.

And Jelendra...thanks for the advice. Smiley

Edit: Nope...it's a js file...it's just behaving like a text file when I try to drag it onto Firefox. grr...this is truly frustrating.

So, since you got it to work, tell me...why would your instructions not work?

Because one didn't have the Greasemonkey extension installed or enabled. Without that extension running, Firefox's default action will be to open the .js file.

...

okay, I must have been unclear.

I have greasemonkey installed and enabled.

No clue why it's not working for me.
3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Downloading from the exchange with an arred version on: 2009 July 03, 14:57:59
You can verify it all you like, but the fact that Greasemonkey can't open the script to edit it...saying there are errors...would prove you wrong.

No that just proves you did something wrong.  Tongue

Don't be a smart ass, I was trying to help. Obviously I am verifying from my experience. I am not responsible for user error. If you need assistance that ask for it next time instead of being cheeky.  Angry

Actually...I followed your directions in that thread to the letter. And every time I would try to drag the js file into firefox it would just open a new browser window with the script in it. It wouldn't give me any install prompt like you said it would. So I tried to add a new script using the information from the code. When it prompted me to choose the file with said script, I chose the file and it came up with an error. I double and triple checked to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong before I posted.

So, since you got it to work, tell me...why would your instructions not work?

Subject says it all. There's mostly crap in the exchange...but there's a few things that look ok. However I can't get them without signing up on the site. And I can't do that cause I have the arred version.

I did search for this, so if it exists, I apologize.

But anyone know what I can do for this?
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch released. on: 2009 July 02, 05:14:24
Yeah, I know. I just chose the most stable torrent I could find.

I did update it properly once I found out about the registry fix and the patch fix.

How I missed that while reading the damn thread, I know no idea.  Grin

I tried reinstalling the reloaded version that was the 615 release. Then I updated it using the reloaded to razor patch download. And the sku version says it's 1.0.631.00002...which is the retail, as it should be.

Then I downloaded the 1.2.7.00002 from 1.0.631.00002 from a link here. And it says it's the wrong damn region. Which is bullshit.

What should I do here?

No, I'm not using his program...as I've obviously failed at finding the thread. <.<

But my problem lies in the fact that the launcher crashes before it even loads. Which I think that's the real problem. But if i could get a link, that'd be awesome.

ETA: okay, I have both the recompressor and 3viewer...but even after recompressing riverview and other things: (dresses and such) when I go to actually execute the programs to install the content...my loader crashes.

ETA2: Okay, figured it out. My COMODO Defense + was set to block the launcher from running at all. Once I disabled the defense+, the launcher was able to install my riverview and other store stuff I got from here. Sure hope there's a way to get stuff installed without the damn launcher in the near future.

Hey all, I got some downloaded content for my arr'ed version. (the razor one btw) but when I double click to install it...the launcher still won't work. Anyone know what I should be doing to fix this. Sadly, while I know how to arr...this is beyond my level of awesomeness.

Okay all, just found my screenshots folder...cause I'm special in the head like that. Anyhow, I only took one picture so far apparently. <.<

It's of the family I created Kyson (the dude in the medical uniform) and Shinari Moonrider. This was taken when I had left them alone one night. He apparently wanted to watch TV and she decided she wanted to read a book. I thought they looked interesting together and took the shot. Enjoy.

Edit: It is a clickable thumbnail. Didn't want to take up your entire screens.

To be fair...the female doesn't look too bad.

And most of the models in game I've seen haven't been too fugly.

It's the damn kids that are just eye bleachingly horrid.

im not sure if i can ask this here

but i need help installing the game

 so i installed the game

but i have no idea where to put the crack

thrs nothing that says installdirGameBin

so where exactly do i put it

okay...I can't actually believe you are that dumb.

If you look under the sims 3 directory you will see a folder named Game...then a folder named Bin. And (shock, surprise) in the Bin directory you'll see the exe that you have to replace.

okay. Long time lurker first time poster.

Spent the entire day (and most of the night) yesterday playing TS3.

Honestly...since I'm not a extreme micromanager...I guess some of the complaints others have aren't the same as I would. I.E. Not being able to jump into multiple households on the fly.

TBH I usually play one household at a time and that's it. From everything I've seen so far, it's not as polished as TS2 + EP's. But then again, it's the base game.

I like how the sims are 'smarter' about their needs. I walked away from the comp at one point and forgot to pause the game. Went and made dinner. Came back 20 mins later and my guy had not only taken perfect care of himself...he'd gotten a promotion at work and pumped up his cooking skill. Had I left my sim alone that long in TS2...he'd be passed out in a pool of his own piss cause he forgot to go to the damn bathroom or go to sleep, and most likely lost his job. I say this is a step forward.

Honestly, I haven't found much to complain about. Well no, that's not entirely true. The pudgyness of all the sims faces is something of a WTF. Regardless of how thin a sim is...their faces are still really pudgy. Also, I don't quite like the way you can't just go for a jog like you could in TS2. You have to manually select where they go. Sad
