1  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2012 August 02, 19:34:55
For some reason TS2-Aging does not seem to be working in my game. I set it up on the configuration file, and "showconfig" says it is activated, but all the sims in the world keep aging, not only my active family. Is there anything I should keep in mind that I might be missing?

I have the latest version of AM and do not have Twallan's SP installed, only some of his other mods (Master Controller, Overwatch, etc.).

Thank you all for the tips and the advice. It was just like Heodez said, the actual game worked and I am now playing in English. Thank you so much! And thanks for telling me about the renaming thing also.

Hi everyone:

After installing Ambitions my save games became corrupted, so I have to start anew. I decided to try Twinbrook, which looks pretty nice. The problem is that since my game is in Spanish (my mother language) all the townies have silly translated Spanish names. Is there a way to turn the game into English or some kind of file I could replace so that they would have their English names? I tried editing the "locale" entry in the registry, but then the Launcher (which is evil, I know, but I'm still setting things up so I'm not using 3booter yet) gave me an error and refused to load, so I'm not very confident on it actually working.

Any tips or ideas? Thanks in advance.

Ah, that will come in handy for sure! Thank you very much for taking the time to find all those links, Mootilda. It might be easier to clone the sims in the corrupted neighbourhood and place them in a cloned terrain than re-playing every single family until they reach the point they were at when everything went wrong.

Thanks again!

Thank you both for the input.

If you have Sims that are invisible and no longer showing up in SimPE, the neighborhood's pretty much gone.  If you have a recent backup, you can try reverting to that to see if the character files are still intact in SimPE.

Ah, I was afraid that'd be the case since things looked pretty bad. Thank you. Oh well... my last backup is pretty old but that's still better than nothing I guess. I can just cheat with the aging to get everything more or less where it was before. I will have to recreate some sims though, but no big deal. Could be worse.

I don't think I have done any of those three problematic things recently so it must have been a "corruption during saving" issue. Frustrating...I'll be sure to make sure that I have multiple working backups from now on.

Thanks again.

Last time I tried to play my custom hood it wouldn't load so I decided to reinstall and see if that fixed anything. After a bunch of trouble getting the expansion packs and the patches to install, I tried to load it again. It took a long time (10-20 minutes, it's usually less than 1 minute or 2) and after it did I noticed that some of the apartments where my sims had been living were now marked as non-occupied and that the sims were nowhere to be seen. I noticed that I could make some of the missing sims appear on lots using a teleporter or the phone, and thought that maybe I could just sent them to the sim bin and move then back to their houses, but then noticed that there were sims that where nowhere to be seen. Not in the memory tree of their family members, not in SimPe in the Sim Browser, nowhere.

Can this hood still be saved somehow? If not, is there a safe way to at least clone the terrain as it is now, decoration, lots, etc?

Thanks in advance and sorry about any mistakes in my English ( not my mother language).

Oh, that's too bad. Thanks for clarifying. Smiley

Awesome! Thank you very much!

Jordi, does yours work with all versions (languages) of the game?

That would be a great feature indeed. Thank you.

I see, and understand. Thanks, Jordi.

Hopefully you'll get around to releasing your "better names" version for TS3 as well.

Would it be possible to, at least, make it so that the English version names appeared on the other versions of the game? (Spanish, Portuguese, etc.)

I'm glad a way to do this has been found, but I'm sorry that it's so annoying and hard. It sounds like that even to me, and I don't know about coding. Thanks everyone for looking into this.

I just don't know why did EA Games decide to make this game so hard to modify, seeing that as someone else said before in this thread, this franchise is so popular mainly because of the easy customization. Who knows what's on their minds...

The Spanish names are just ridiculous as well. "Hildegarda" is one I saw just yesterday, and in TS2 Vidcund and Pascal Curious were "Gumersindo" and "Pascualín"...

Thanks everyone for the input and comments, and thank you Jordi for taking the trouble to look again. Sounds tedious.

Ack, it sucks that it seems to be unmoddable. I don't understand EA's reasoning. :/
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / File that decides Maxis "townies"' names on: 2009 July 12, 20:08:16
Hi:

I remember than in TS2 there was a file in which the names the game randomly assigned to townies were, and that the contents of that file could be changed. Is there such a thing in TS3?

Thanks.
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Question about merging saves on: 2009 June 05, 01:47:18
Hi everyone.

I have a question about merging saves. Since Pescado just released his awesome mod, which fixes the Story Progression thing, and I actually wanted to play the Maxis families as they are since the beginning of the hood and not as elders and with numerous unknown new kids, I decided to start a new saved game and import the sim I had been playing with (The One Family TM) to the newly created 'hood so that she wouldn't lose her skills, etc. When doing so the game warned me that she would lose all relationships. This is OK and I hoped it would happen, since I figure it would cause problems for her to have relationships with two sims who are actually the same.

My question is, does it actually cause problems to merge saved games like this? I figure that there is less chance for it seeing that there are no memories anymore, but thought I would ask because I'd rather play aged Maxis sims than a 'hood doomed to corruption.

English isn't my mother language so apologies for any mistakes, and thanks in advance.
