Wine is good at a lot of things, gaming isn't one of them. Its been that way for years.
2  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Half of dead sims brought back to life? on: 2010 July 14, 16:13:27
Wow that would suck, my cemetery is so packed I had to make a second. Sounds like it's time for a discoinferno.

Dead Body: I'm not dead.
Dead Collector: What?
Large Man: Nothing. There's your ninepence.
Dead Body: I'm not dead.
Dead Collector: 'Ere, he says he's not dead.
Large Man: Yes he is.
Dead Body: I'm not.
Dead Collector: He isn't.

That looks more like an Adobe Air error which is apparently the crapplication they used to build their terribad launcher. I would assume Air is trying to check for its own update before the EA stuff loads and since it can't, the application fails. Regardless, that launcher is a terrible piece of work.

I thought initially that they were collecting crash data, machine stats and general demographic data (ie. player country, windows version, that kind of hoo-ha) to see who is afflicted by what problems but I never thought they'd be that intrusive.

Pretty interesting stuff, I'll have to run a packet sniffer and have a looksie.
5  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Sims starving to death on: 2010 June 29, 22:00:25
I've only seen starvation with sims addicted to activities such as the Sim Fu dummy. Had three or four in a row die in China but no biggie really, they get replaced. It does however, seem like the more populated the hood, the more likely you'll have unemployment/death issues. My previous neighbourhood got way too big for itself and mass unemployment ensued. It seems likely that the mortality rate would/should increase in the case of a packed city but the consequences make fun factor of the game drop sharply. Nobody wants to have to babysit 5+ playable homes to make sure sims are going to work and not starving while staring at their gardens.

On the other hand, my legacy lot is on generation four and I'm wishing the population of old, crusty sims would die. I have maids from the first generation still hobbling around town and presumably still living in the NPC "house". Pretty annoying really. I'd love to kill them off by hand but would rather not increase the likelihood of my legacy game going BOOM.

TLDR right? Anyway, from what I can tell from playing a few different worlds so far is that the more packed it is with playable homes, the more likely it is for something to go wrong such as mass starvation.

You're late to the game. Its not a framework issue. It was Patch Fail. The end.

Talk about being late to the game. You're four days too late to troll. You're also fat but we'll let that slide for now.
8  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 1.2.7/2.7.7/3.3.11 TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 14, 01:56:01
I have W7x64, WA, Ambitions, some custom content.
In  AM config, I disabled perkmod.

From what I understand, AM isn't available for Ambitions yet. Could be your issue huh?  Wink

2010-Jun-11 20:06:34 Build AM - WA only, 99% clean here.
12  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 1.2.7/2.7.7/3.3.11 TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 10, 16:12:35
Strange, I've never gotten an error 12 post 2.2.8 patch and since installing this latest AM I've gotten it twice. I don't believe it's a coincidence...

It's been my experience that Error 12 pops up commonly after using ctrl+clcik to switch households four or more times in one sitting. I avoid using quick switching and the error 12's went away. It is, however, not an AM bug but a memory corruption issue.
13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: EA Data Logging - Ambitions & Patch on: 2010 June 09, 19:08:58
A lot of interesting paranoia speak here but have any of you even bothered to run a packet sniffer before getting all up in arms?
14  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 1.2.7/2.7.7/3.3.11 TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 09, 02:03:52
Reporting in with a seemingly bug free, vanilla Sims 3 1.2.7 as of today's latest build. No issues with some solid play time invested.
15  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 1.2.7/2.7.7/3.3.11 TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 07, 18:16:22
If you'd have read the thread, instead of jumping in with more of the same, you'd notice that he doesn't have Ambitions installed yet. We all determined the school being a park an Ambitions only issue. Logical leap? Wait til he installs Ambitions to bitch about it! Actually, don't bitch at all, everyone else has done it enough.

I read somewhere that deleting the school and replacing it after a save alleviates the problem. Your mileage may vary.

18  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sim Teen Becomes Foreigner on: 2010 May 29, 00:17:32
Yep, resetsim worked when I invited her over to the lot then then I moved her in with EA's built-in. Now to figure out how to get her to have more than one outfit so that she'll stop doing everything in her everyday clothes (including showering)...

Maybe when she ages up to young adult it'll magically get fixed since trying to use the dresser to plan her outfits locks up the game. Well, I hope anyway.
19  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sim Teen Becomes Foreigner on: 2010 May 27, 13:49:11
Well the problem is figured out but not fixed. Someone was playing my game and saw the teen stuck inside the ground and unable to move or be interacted with and they used the EA 'delete' function on her to fix the problem. Now to figure out how to undelete her Sad
20  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sim Teen Becomes Foreigner on: 2010 May 27, 04:24:45
Still kicking some ideas around in the game but no solutions unfortunately. Guess I just let her live in unknown space lol
21  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Sim Teen Becomes Foreigner on: 2010 May 26, 17:14:51
Or, what happens when you forget to bless your sim home.

After switching to a different home the other night (across the street from this particular home) I noticed something strange upon starting the game up this afternoon. Not only did the home in question get new occupants, the other family moved to a crap home across town (they're roughly $400K deep so no reason to move into a smaller home). Upon inspecting the new home, the teen daughter was missing. I switched to the home to find out what was going on and their daughter was marked "Long Distance" in the friends list. After evicting the uglies and moving my family back to the preferred home, I invited the daughter over. I wasn't able to ask her to move in or use ctrl+click to switch to her. I used the 'Supercomputer' hack to add her to the house then things got a little stranger, she only had one outfit in her 'change outfit' and when I attempted to set her back up again using the dresser, the game locked.

At this point, it doesn't look like she'll be playable. Is it possible that maybe she was at school when the family moved out and she just got left behind and thus, broken? Has anyone ever had a similar situation? I tried using fixall when she was on the lot as well but nothing.
22  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Mapleton- The Unpopulated Version on: 2010 May 15, 05:57:50
Only problem I had with this city is the lack of larger lot sizes. Even some small, 1b lots couldn't be placed. Other than that, nice work.
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Installed "Pets" and cars stopped working on: 2009 March 23, 10:45:29
I realize Pets has been out for some time; has anyone run into this particular problem after installing it?

Sims can get into cars; groups can't leave the driveway. Single sims can go out but never return to the driveway when they get back (they stay off-screen).

I have Uni, NL, OFB & Pets (installed in that order).

I've only had this issue with "Business Runs You" being used on a lot. Are you using that particular hack?
