Thank you!

Unfortunately when I try to unRAR it tells me that some of the files are corrupt, so it doesn't extract any of them. Back to work ...

ETA: My bad, I don't think it's finished downloading yet. Guess I should've checked first  Undecided

ETA (2.0): Case closed! Both have been successfully restored. Thanks, to everyone!

Well, I'm pretty sure no one told me what burning and mounting are, until morriganrant just now told me that it's the same thing I did before. I'd have been able to figure out 3-5, but if I couldn't get past 2, does it make a difference?

Asinine Airhead == good description for me. This is Duh.

It was the same virus, morriganrant, so I did the same thing you told me to do before and it worked out fine. The point I was trying to make was that it might take me a while to respond etc.

Sorry about the double post (and this isn't the first time  Undecided ). Comp has a virus again, though I'm not sure if it has anything to do directly with any downloads.

The new IKEA Stuff folder gave me quite a few .RARs and file with these instructions:

Installation:

1. Unrar.
2. Burn or mount the image.
3. Install the game. Use the keygen in the Crack directory on the disc when
   prompted for a key.
4. Copy the cracked executable over from the Crack directory on the disc to
   your installation\TSBin directory.
5. Play the game.

Who wants to translate into simple, SuperScarlett-level English?

I deleted the IKEA folders. Most of the folders I mentioned them having didn't have common files, or equivalents, with other SPs, and what's worse, avast! caught something when I tried accessing a file in them. Right now I'm getting two new torrents.

Yes, this happens occasionally.  Best to run with torrents that have a few comments so you can see the ones where people said "ZOMG! Torrentvirus ate my OS!!11" or some such, and avoid them.

Good point, I'll see to that.

Heh, it's there, only it's silver, not green or red, and I was right-clicking instead of left-clicking.

H&M is done! Now IKEA ...

My guess is that EA included the patch for Uni, then, even for those who don't have it. Deluxe might have the patch for NL, and according to the page for that patch, the fixes for Uni are included as well.

I haven't had problems with any of the fixes listed on the Uni patch page so I think this is rather likely.

As for the Mfd and Mds file (or any of the others I listed) that is easy. Get Daemon tools, install it. After install you should have a little icon, a green circle with a lightning bolt through it, click on it, there will be an option that comes up that says "device", click on that. This will bring up a window to search through your files, direct it to the MDS. The Install screen will either come up on it's own or you can go into My computer and you will see that Daemon is now acting like any other CD drive.
I just DL'd it. We'll see how it goes!

Couldn't find the green circle w/ lightning bolt. Where is it?
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Ottomas family in Seasons - normal brokenness and more brokenness on: 2009 April 17, 20:44:38
All patched, but I have one question: Does Deluxe come with the NL and/or Uni patches? It told me I don't have NL, and Uni was  the only one I got a "U NEED THE CD" message for, and I don't have the CD on hand.
10  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: H&M and IKEA stuff gone on: 2009 April 17, 20:23:51
I'm not sure what to do with the Ikea, if it has all of the same folders as a usual SP then maybe someone packaged up the SP straight as they had it? Does steam offer the IKEA pack? Because if they do, then you may have gotten a straight rip and you may not need to do anything else with that one other then stick it in with the other Eps and Sps. Without looking at the thing I really do not know. The only game that I've had pirated from Steam was SilentHill:homecoming. Doing this with an expansion pack is new to me.

Sorry I wasn't clear, it doesn't have all the same folders. I checked FFS and GLS (the only other SPs I have) and they have 4 folders: CSBin, TSBin, TSData and Support. The IKEA I downloaded lacks a CSBin folder and has two extra folders, AutoRun and Crack.

As for the Mfd and Mds file (or any of the others I listed) that is easy. Get Daemon tools, install it. You should have patched Seasons by now, all of the hacks here, and most of everyone else's hacks, assume that you are patched and up to date. In the hood in which you haven't played the Ottomas family, the patch will fix them and you will be fine.

Is there a way to check if I've patched? I think I patched for Seasons and I will do so for the rest, I don't know why I didn't earlier.

If I have indeed patched I know it was before playing the Ottomas family of scenario #3, after playing scenario #1, and who-knows-when in relations to scenario #2. Ihave played all the Ottomas families mentioned, sorry if that wasn't clear.

I want to start culling my CC but I don't know what all of it is so I sort of need to make note of it from the game (especially CAS stuff).  I know there's really no way to do that with objects and build stuff.

I use Delphy's Download Organizer @ MTS2: http://nene.modthesims2.com/download.php?p&t=227925. It's a good thing to have around because it gives good descriptions on the content, which helps if you want to rename a file to be more descriptive  Smiley Hope that helps!

Are you autistic?

There hasn't been any true diagnosis, but I've been told by some people that I seemed like I could be, and I've also read things for myself and I believe those people could be right.

Do you have a special sister, by any chance?

No. I'm afraid I don't even know what a special sister is  Undecided PM me if you'd like to explain because this thread is off-track enough as it is.

It seems logical to me that it would be "Ottomases"

I don't know what the rule is. I think most of the words in English with plurals ending in "-i" are either Latin or Greek, and I don't even know what the etymology of "Ottomas" is. I thought I saw someone use "Ottomi" in another thread, perhaps another forum, even. The truth is, I guess I really don't care and it doesn't make any difference to me, so I'm sorry if I gave you grief with it.

By the way, regardless if you were looking for the correct way of typing it... I'm still unconvinced that you "read the whole post" because if you had, you'd find the answers to your questions in it. Though it's quite possible you "read the whole post" and not the "whole thread" which is how that's said. You're excused though.

"Whole post" is painfully ambiguous, so if you'd assumed I meant "whole thread" you were correct.

I've been under quite a bit of stress lately (read the thread I started not long ago) and so that's been just throwing me off altogether. I'll reread the whole thread and if I still don't get after that, we can talk about it then.

(Thank you, BTW, for the correction)

but ok, you're ready to do the whole autism thing. ... Autism card, let me show you it.

That whole rant was my gross overreaction to what you said, which wasn't mean in the slightest and didn't warrant that kind of response. I am rather volatile, especially when I feel even slightly insulted, whether as a part of the autism or not.

As I said I'll reread the thread. My apologies for my words before.

Got the H&M and now getting IKEA.

How do I install from the files now? (The FAQ wasn't much help for that, IMO Tongue)
what are the file extensions? .Mdf and .Mds? Bin and Cue? ISO?

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I don't think the original file I had that was labeled H&M actually was anything Sims-related, so I had to redownload.

The H&M contains both an .mdf and an .mds, as well as the installation code. IKEA doesn't have any files with the extensions you mentioned but it does have folders called "TSBin" and "TSData" like other EP and SP folders, so I don't know what to do with it.

Let's see ... I've played the Ottomases (or Ottomi? Can someone confirm which it is?) in three neighborhoods.

(Yes, I've read the whole post.)

Subject:  Ottomas family in Seasons - normal brokenness and more brokenness

Need I say more?

It would be helpful, if you'd actually like to go for it.

I don't know how the title does anything for Ottomases vs. Ottomi. "Ottomas family" is a method of avoiding the predicament but that's not what I was looking for, if you noticed.

As I've stated, I've read the whole post. So I know that some people have problems that they'd like resolved. I don't know if they are having the same issues I am. Sometimes people have issues (i.e. autism) that get in the way of proper cognition when things aren't stated in a certain way.

I asked a question. I'd like an answer. You have absolutely no obligation to give an answer to my question, which you seem to be well aware of, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like an answer.

Let's see ... I've played the Ottomases (or Ottomi? Can someone confirm which it is?) in three neighborhoods.

- In one both twins were born without errors, though they had another Sim in the nhood as the "father" (originally an NPC waitress). And, of all things, Daddymom has the "marry off 6 kids" LTW, so the twins would fulfill that — if I let them live.

- Before that, I decided to test out the screwup with the father of the twins in another neighborhood. I didn't get as far as I had hoped because I got error messages before either came. Unfortunately I didn't record what the error was, and I think I just ended up deleting Sam altogether. Is that okay? The nhood either has been deleted or could very easily be if needed.

- I put them down in a third nhood but the twins haven't been born there.

How bad can it really get if I don't do anything? Where have I already messed up? And what should I do now?

(Yes, I've read the whole post. I just want to make clear what I might have missed or misunderstood, since I do both rather easily when it comes to technology)

So I just open the torrents w/ Explorer?

Because, um, I now have Spyware Protect 2009 on my computer, which isn't good, and I'm not sure if I got a good torrent to begin with.

You'll need a torrent opening program, like vuse or utorrent. You will also want Daemon Tools.  All are free programs.

K, will do.

SuperScarlet, MATY's FAQ contains a lot of info about torrenting. Perhaps you should look there. Continuing to flail like this will start to get peoples' goats around here.

Oh thanks. I needed that.

Learning experience, this place is.

Spyware protect ...guhh, that's like that Antivirus scam.
Get Avast, run avast's scan on boot option. It may take a few hours but just let it run and have it move everything to chest or delete it. Get malwarebytes and run that in safemode. It will get anything that Avast didn't. Do not use malwarebytes first, some variations of those scams will actually cause BSOD if you use malwarebytes first.

Yeah. Oops, I used MB first. I'll remember in the future. I didn't get a BSOD this time around, fortunately.

System Restore to immediately before you did that? I'm actually not sure why they think they are not installed, usualy, so long as the registry keys are there, the game thinks they are still there.

Did you check your recycle bin for the old files? You may have to delete the radiance folders first and then restore the others in order to keep them from messing up again.

It's not that they think they are gone. They are, because I messed up. I deleted the original folders and put in the RLS folders, with only the data to the lights in.

But what's this about a System Restore? Will it work if I was the one who deleted the folders, and it's not because my comp messed up?

And I'm OCD about getting rid of files in the Recycle Bin. They were gone as soon as they got there. I don't know why I do that ... I shouldn't, really ...

Cute kitty! but idgi?

I was actually directed here to ask for your help, Mr. Pescado. Can you help me?? Grin

Kind of what I was thinking, but I don't own either (I borrowed both from my library) so their availability is variable. And I'm not even thinking of touching the game before I get them back in.
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / H&M and IKEA stuff gone on: 2009 April 11, 20:31:14
Soo, last night I was trying to install the Radiance Light System from MTS2. I thought I was successful until when I woke up this morning.

The thing comes with folders to replace only one part of the data in C:\Program Files. But instead of having folders for the IKEA and H&M Stuff Packs with the registered symbol, it just has an "r".

No problem, I thought,  Wink I'll just stick the new folders in, rename them with the symbol and delete the old ones.

OMG AM I STUPID OR WHAT.  Cry

So now, all the data from H&M AND IKEA are gone, except for the data for RLS. I haven't even tried to start the game up, nor do I want to in fear of what will happen. Those were 2 of my favorites! What do I do?  Embarrassed

I broke it.  Sad
