TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sound not working after installing WA and Pets?

Tried that and unfortunately it didn't work. While in device manager I did notice that my coprocessor is missing a driver? I scanned online for one and searched my C drive but it couldn't find anything and the manufacturer and driver provider are "unknown". Could this have anything to do with the problem? I don't think so, but I don't know what the coproccessor does, it is listed under "other devices". Googling it leads me to other people looking for drivers for it, which makes me think it is nonessential.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Sound not working after installing WA and Pets? [RESOLVED]

I think this is a DirectX thing? Everything is plugged in correctly, drivers are updated and the sound is as high as it can go. I installed both EPs yesterday (and the Town Life stuff pack) and the sound worked fine while I played with them for a few minutes. I booted up the computer today to play it with a friend and it just cut out during the loading screen and hasn't come back on since. Windows hasn't helped diagnose any problems because it seems to think everything is working fine, even though this is not the case (unless I have come down with selective deafness). I could just be missing something really obvious but I've tried everything I can think of and I think it's likely sims-related because of the timing.
ETA: Turns out my sound card just finally pooped out on me after 4 years of dutiful service and the timing happened to coincide with the installation. New one works fine.

Windows 7 uses Libraries, so what you see is the public documents and my documents. You can remove the public documents from that library if it confuses you. In Library Right click Documents / Properties then remove the public documents folder. As for the screenshots, try disabling desktop composition for the game. Right click / Properties / Compatibility / for the .exe that you start the game with. You may also want to disable themes. Disabling those did the trick, thanks.

Weird. I get the exact same thing, and after deleting it always regenerates. I suppose it's harmless.
I guess it's just a quirk of 7, then. To kill two (or three) birds with one thread, I've been having another problem since installing 7 - every time I try to screengrab something running full-screen, like sims, I get a screenshot of the desktop, or anything that appeared on the screen as soon as I minimized the full-screen program (like if I had my documents maximized, I get a screenshot of that). I can't seem find a sims-specific answer to this problem.

I believe that you are seeing a "shared" and "unshared" version of the folder. I remember seeing something about this on modthesims, but I don't have a link. Nothing to worry about, just ignore the extra folder. If you want, you can test this hypothesis by adding something to the folder and checking whether another computer on your network can see it.
You can copy the OFB lot bin lots from the DVD. They are inside a file named compressed.zip. You'll need to navigate to TSData\Res\UserData\LotCatalog within the zip file, then copy them to the same location in your C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Open For Business folder.
That's much less sinister than I thought. Thanks for the info. Okay, sounds simple enough. Thanks again!

I got a new hard drive the other day, wiped and put windows 7 on it, then installed Sims. An extra EA Games folder (with nothing in it) keeps appearing in my documents, in addition to the normal one. Whenever I delete it, it comes back. The game has been running fine, I just thought this was weird because I searched around and no one else seems to have had this happen with 7.
Also, I installed OFB, but none of the lots that usually come with it (the coffee shop, for example) aren't showing up in my bin.

CAST, the more realistic conversation options (such as "worry about money" and "ask to take out trash"), and the pretty scenery. I also love the fact that you can walk right off your lot and go to the grocery store/beach/what have you.

Okay, I have another idea. If we HAVE to give the cigarettes unpleasant side effects, let's not make it so grim nobody wants to play with it.
I suggest that smoking Sim-cigarettes should make your Sims have gay lusty thoughts. It should give them wants to flirt/kiss/woohoo with any nearby sims of the same sex, regardless of their relationship level. (Maybe it makes gay sims have straight thoughts?)
Now that could create some interesting gameplay opportunities. And I'm sure there is an interesting moral message in there, somewhere, although I'm not sure what.
Wasn't it said by Pescado that sims have no predetermined gender preference in TS3?

I had a death at a campaign party, which was pretty cool. I like how sims that knew the person stretch their arms out as if to implore Grim when the sim begs for their life back. More realistic than in TS2, where they just stood around during the death or sniffled a little. Grim stuck around to partyboy the hostess a little, causing her Coward-traited husband to pass out. Then he went into the bedroom and disappeared in a puff of smoke. I was disappointed, I wanted to try to woo him. Perhaps next time.
