TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds

To the Booty certainly not: the booty is for pay-fan-sites' files only, not for pirated stuff.
*bold added for emphasis, since he seems to have overlooked that point* The Sims Store is not a fan site charging for CC. It is EA charging for 'extra' content, which they have the right to do (even though they suck great big hairy balls for doing so). The booty does not host Sims Store files. However, if someone were to purchase Sims Store stuff, upload it to Mediafire or some such place and share the links to it here for all to use, well, what could Pes do to stop it, really?

I hope it's okay to post this here - I don't want to continue derailing the Sustainably Simming Challenge thread.
In regards to the creepy Closer Family Redo hack you made, it does work, in that it allows all romantic interactions between relatives, but it also seems to have blocked all the normal family interactions between relatives also. For example, the 'family kiss' is no longer there, and parents can no longer 'encourage' their children. The original allowed both family and romantic interactions, and I was wondering if you could possibly alter it to allow both, if you have time. I could even upload the original if you want to look at it to see how it was done.

Cool, thanks rufio, it was nice of you to do this. I know you're busy with all the other hacks you've been posting. I will try it out right away. As for the creepiness of it, I always though that's why no one updated it for recent expansions. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, even if they are just pixels.

Well, if your game is playing happily with Closer Family, it's no skin off my nose if you don't take it out. It was just a warning, really, and you probably shouldn't advise people to use years out-of-date hacks without some kind of warning about potential game damage.
Closer Family was the only hack of its kind, that I know of, and I do wish someone with adequate knowledge of game modding would update it. The Wedding of Convenience is good for what it does, but it still requires marriage for romantic interactions between relatives.

Closer Family at MTS is no longer supported and hasn't been updated since OFB. There is no guarantee that it will work with all the expansions that have been released since then, let alone whether it will work nicely with other romance mods that have been updated for recent expansions, like ACR and Jenflower's Woohoo Teens. To put that mod in one's game at this point would be just asking for BFBVFS.

and then posted their email address and username in the private staff forum. Hardly a breech of privacy laws. Plus, they didn't just post email addresses and usernames--they posted some people's real names, even admitted by Steve himself over at TSR. There was no need for that and it is considered a privacy violation. I could actually understand sharing usernames of known filesharers (not condone, mind you). After all, people freely share the usernames of known forum trolls. But to post real names is going too far.

No, even unfurnished it wasn't small enough to attach, so I gutted it: no furnishing, no plants, no windows, no doors, no deadly fire jets. Okay, there's still a couple doors left, but you'll still have to add more to make it playable again--if you call what it was before 'playable', hehe.

I've just modified the post. Can you get to 4shared? If not, I suppose I could upload an unfurnished version, but it won't be until tomorrow. I really didn't think anyone would be that interested in downloading it since the tiny hallway-like living spaces will cause sim traffic jams from hell, so actually playing the thing will be the most tortuous part about it. And Emma, I really don't hate you.

Wyn, eaglezero posted a download link to the Death To Emma foundation about five posts above this. Sorry, reading comprehension fail on my part. Death to Emma looked too fun to pass by, so I took a stab at it (nothing personal against Emma). It does not take good pictures, due to the strangeness of the layout. It is not AwesomeSpec at all: Exterior. Should be obvious that I wasn't aiming for aesthetically pleasing landscaping. The main bedroom and the greenhouse. There was no room in this place at all for a double bed that would be accessible, so Emma and Goopy will just have to do singles I love Lucy style. Kitchen. No fire alarm for fun fiery goodness. Nursery and Music/Trophy room. Room for 12s, the study with desk, and the library. The Entry halls and Entertainment room. In this picture you can also see the fire jet walkways of doom. The sim I play-tested with died within 12 hours because of those. The bathroom, which unfortunately is not accessible. So sad. I thought it would be more tortuous to have a bathroom but not be able to reach it. Full view of the interior layout. "To" in the middle is a deck with telescope, treadmill and chess board. Made with all expansions and stuff packs. No cc, costs $185, 378, fully furnished throughout. It's available for download on mediafire here, and--just for nekonoai--on 4shared here. Edit just for nekonoai again -- the sucker all cleaned out. Some assembly required for playability.

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is there any way to fix a corrupt neighborhood?
|
on: 2009 March 22, 17:01:39

Does your neighborhood open in SimPE? If it will (and it very well may not) you could use Sim Surgery's export option to export your sims. Then you'd have to clone them in Body Shop and install the clones into the game, remake them in CAS and rebuild their relationships and whatnot with objects like the Sim Blender.
It takes a long time and isn't fun, but it would save your sims--at least, their looks. Again, that is only if your neighborhood is still readable by SimPE. Unfortunately that doesn't sound likely, but I am no expert on neighborhood corruption.

Seems they're not all that keen on big slobbery thanks around here, but I love your camera mod. Love it. Where's the smiley with all the hearts around it's head, 'cause it should be *here*. I'm glad to hear you're still around and planing to still be around.

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Catalog thumbnail weirdness
|
on: 2009 March 10, 06:31:59

Maybe you need to increase your view distance, because the thumbnails are taken from sufficiently far away that the chairs are disappearing into the fog?
Does in-game view distance really influence how object thumbnails are created? I have made objects before that showed up tiny on the thumbnail in-game, like the preview pic had been taken from two streets away even though the camera in Blender was close to the object. Could that be because my view distance is always set to extra far or whatever the biggest one is?

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Populating a holiday neighbourhhod???

Physically possible, but not practical for the non-Awesome. You'd need to recode the townie spawner, form a new fambly of townies that will then be spawned, and somehow tag the hood. All this is doable. But not easy.
Wait--so if one were to create a new vacation destination, which is allowed in the game, if I remember correctly, and sent a family there on holiday, what kind of locals would get spawned? (This is assuming one doesn't have anything that would prevent locals from being spawned in the first place.) Would it be random, like you might get islanders or Asians or lumberjacks? Even so, couldn't you then just change their clothes and edit their gesture tokens in SimPE? Would it still require doing all that jazz you're talking about? And if so, then why the hell did EAaxis allow the creation of a custom holiday hood anyway if it's so darn complicated?

I'm pretty sure she's saying she wants to make a custom vacation destination that will be a kind of a Christmas Land, and she wants create a separate set of locals for that destination that will be dressed all North Pole-ish, with one Santa and lots of elves and whatever. And she would like to know how she can make Santa be Santa-like, staying on just one lot instead of roaming the neighborhood like normal locals. Am I close here, janeyw?

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Fixing a borked apartment controller
|
on: 2009 March 06, 06:59:17

I had an apartment that was doing the same as you describe, spambi. It had only one playable family living in it. I didn't really 'fix' it, I suppose, just found a work around. What I did was move out the family, load the lot and changed it back to residential, went back to neighborhood screen and packaged the lot; then I bulldozed the lot in game. Then I installed the packaged lot (lot only, obviously, since any cc in it is already in your game), placed it where the old lot was, visited it once in game to change it back to an apartment (made no other changes though), and moved the family back in. The 'new' apartment didn't have the error anymore when I saved.
I don't know why it had the error to begin with, or what to do--or not do to--to avoid it.
