1  TS4: The Pee-ening / Insert Amusing Name Here / Re: The truth about Toddlers and Teens? on: 2014 November 30, 00:26:51
between 24s, 48s, and 64s (?)
There are no 64s. They are 60s or 66s.
2  TS4: The Pee-ening / Insert Amusing Name Here / Re: L&P: TS4 CAS Demo | Full TS4 Game Leaked on: 2014 September 21, 20:06:50
One of the sites I used recently had "what was Alan Turing's name?" as its human-confirming question.
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyway to stop Sims autonomously taking photo-booth pictures? on: 2011 February 16, 19:40:58
Have you tried The One Shiny?
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Still planing with TS2 anyone ? on: 2010 June 07, 00:07:08
I'm waiting for TS4.
5  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't display Wants Panel simultaneously with Needs/Relationships etc panels on: 2009 October 19, 01:38:34
Does this just happen in windowed mode or full screen? Both?
Ah, haven't tried full screen. I'll try it now.

ETA: It works in full screen! Thanks, this is great.
6  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't display Wants Panel simultaneously with Needs/Relationships etc panels on: 2009 October 19, 00:51:16
It depends, for me, the wants panel will only sometimes appear simultaneously (uni grad or not) on 1024 x 768; not at all at 800 x 600 but anything higher will. If it still doesn't show up then perhaps a reboot'll help?
Tried higher res, tried rebooting. Still no luck.

Any other suggestions? I could try the Dance Of The Seven Disks, I suppose, but I'd rather not.
7  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't display Wants Panel simultaneously with Needs/Relationships etc panels on: 2009 October 18, 22:03:33
I'm doing that, but no luck so far. What resolutions are likely to work best?
8  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Can't display Wants Panel simultaneously with Needs/Relationships etc panels on: 2009 October 18, 21:47:39
Just that. If I click on one of the right-side panels, the wants panel automatically disappears on me. Did I break it?

Grammar Cat is ready to answer your questions:

10  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Maxing University Contest on: 2009 July 23, 00:08:38
My calculations say that the theoretical maximum with all EPs breaks down as follows:

LTWs:
20 Best Friends
20 Pet Best Friends
7 Maxed Skills
20 Lovers
20 WooHoos
50 First Dates
50 Dream Dates
5 Maxed Businesses
Earn $100,000
Eat 200 Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Total: 10

Badges:
Cashiering
Cosmetology
Fishing
Floristry
Gardening
Robotery
Pottery
Restocking
Sales
Sewing
Toycrafting

Total: 11

10 LTWs plus 11 badges plus 10 enthusiasms plus the five one-point bonuses makes 36.

This challenge looks difficult-tedious but not difficult-challenging; I don't think I'll try it out.

There is an important difference between paper and internet documents when it comes to underlining; an underline on a piece of paper cannot be indicating a hyperlink. For this reason, I would probably advise against the use of underlines for internet documents.

Oh, no. We're still totally a society of capitalistic democracy over here. Our current president just happens to believe in a federally organized and maintained compulsory health care system. That the top 10% should have to pay more in taxes because they have the temerity to earn more that the herd of shepul who pass for your average American these days. Let's not forget part of that process is the federal government determining whom is in said 10%, how much more they should have to pay, and taking it from them to fund 'social programs' to benefit the shepul. No, no, that does not sound at all like 'from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs'.
It sounds like the National Health Service in the United Kingdom. In the recent local and European elections, the party that dominated the United Kingdom was the Conservative party, a mostly socially-conservative, economically right-wing, establishment-supporting party. Despite its right-wing credentials, the Conservative party wouldn't dream of trying to abolish the NHS; that would be seen as electoral suicide over here. Socialism? You guys aren't even close.

(As a side note, I am told that the UK government actually pays less per person on health care than the US government does. Make of that what you will.)

Civilization has come with a good manual throughout the life of the series.

So you are essentially admitting you can't do your job?

Sure I could do my job, if I devoted more time to it than there is hours in the day.
15  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS Director's Cut: More Awesome Than You on: 2009 May 31, 23:17:59
Ok. Noob here.

If I have all EP's. Should I download simply the AL version to cover all EP's or should I download all of the Director's Cuts?
You only need to download one version, and it's the version for whatever the most recent expansion pack you have is. So in this case, just the AL version.

Proper capitalization is important, SimplyComplex. As you will know if you have ever had to help your uncle Jack off a horse.
17  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 27, 09:57:53
Yes, exactly what they are doing with the SimsStore... making us pay for Sims stuff! That should be free... I rekon the reason they are doing the SimsStore is because the saw what places like TSR was doing... and thought, "Woo, we can make even more money from these little kid's parent's creditcards" Correct?
The difference is that EA has the right to do this: it makes the game, has all the legal rights over the game, and is at liberty to dispense its own custom content at whatever prices it sees fit. T$R has no such right, and its actions violate the EULA.

I've been trying to catch up with this thread for days, I'm still reading pages a few before this one. This is a loosing battle for me it seems.

EA claiming to have lost $9million due to "pirates"

"The current number of illegal downloads of "The Sims 3" suggests lost retail sales of $9 million to date, based on the $49.99 starting price."
God, it's annoying when people do that. That's not the value of the lost retail sales, it's the total sale value of the pirated copies. They have no reason to assume each of those pirated copies is one that would otherwise be a sale.

This is reminding me of the Beachcomber story in which the twelve red-bearded dwarfs sued themselves.

Did they win?
I think the court ordered them, in their capacity as one organization, to apologise to themselves in their capacity as the other.

24  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: TS3 L&P on: 2009 January 27, 18:09:24
The more I think about it, the more it's beginning to piss me off.  This doesn't seem like progress to me.  Maybe that's why they made it a "prequal".  They want to give you LESS choices than the original Sims game.   Roll Eyes
That would be fewer choices. Plural nouns take fewer; non-count nouns take less. Also note the spelling of prequel.
25  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2009 January 26, 00:25:02
ETA: Well I updated all my awesome hacks and tested out the debugger again just in case I missed updating one when I installed AL. The debugger still wouldn't give me any job LTWs except FT ones. I removed the ltwvariety hack and the debugger works fine again.
That's probably ltwvariety working as intended, then. It gives sims fewer LTW options by design.
