FYI: When you uninstall/reinstall the game, it gives you a choice of whether or not you want to keep your saved games, etc. Choosing yes works exactly as advertised.
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Important notice from the GRAMMAR POLICE. Plz read. This means you. on: 2009 October 21, 00:02:10
@shellyb: All that ranting about grammar and you still exhibit which/that confusion. Grammar cat is not amused.

Have your active sim set the front door as such. I think that all houses are supposed to have a specifically set front door, but they sometimes get unset for reasons known only to EA.

Do you use AwesomeMod? If so, try the New Bug Thread. Not only is it the proper place to post about game bugs, but reading it may also help you with your problem, since many people have also had the same problem and reported it there. Otherwise, try doing a search from the main page. This problem has been reported and discussed many times. There was no need to start a new thread for it.

I would like to recommend the Awesome story driver in favor of the Indie Stone story driver. A bottom-up approach makes a helluva lot more sense than a top-down approach. Also, lurk and read a lot.

I don't use Chaavik's mod, but it just occurred to me that maybe kids can gain fitness from working out, but not athletic skill points. I don't often play households with children, so it's possible that my memory fails me.
7  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: New AwesomeMod Request Thread on: 2009 October 13, 02:38:45
Child fitness works more or less the same as adult fitness. Children can swim in order to gain athletic skill, but not until they already have one athletic skill point. Children can't use the workout equipment, but they can workout to a TV or stereo to gain that first point. I think maybe the playground equipment allows them to gain athletic skill too.

Have you deleted the cache files found under Documents, etc?
9  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: New AwesomeMod Request Thread on: 2009 October 11, 19:47:13
It would be nice if children could farm. I believe in child labor.
I'd also like it if they could gain athletic and the other skills they used to be able to earn in TS2, perhaps, say, with the items that are directly copied from TS2... the play table for mechanical ("handiness" these days) and painting, the easy-bake oven for cooking, the playground and pool for athletic. And what ever happened to the rabbit head for charisma?

There's a "children can garden" mod at MTS, but the animations are wonky. Still, you may want to check it out.
10  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: sims can't put books away on: 2009 October 10, 23:18:59
I recall something similar happening in my game before I started using awesomemod. I discovered that placing bookcases in the family inventory while moving sims to new houses caused bought books and sim-written books to disappear, so I started putting the individual books into a sim's individual inventory before placing bookcases in the family inventory and/or moving house. Once the sims were in the new house, if I told them to put away the books from their inventory, they would just drop them on the floor, and I had to manually put the books away by opening the bookcase. I'm not sure if this still happens, or not, because I use awesomemod, and I haven't moved any sims with bought or written books recently. I send them to the library instead of the bookstore.

You have to enable custom content through the game options, then shut down your game, and then restart it. The CC should show up in your game after that.
12  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: "Disc authentication failure" on: 2009 October 09, 11:13:53
Are you using the TS3.exe file or are you loading the game through the launcher? If you are not using the TS3.exe file, you need to be doing that. I'm pretty sure that awesomemod uses it for the no-CD check.
13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: SUPPORT THE MUNICIPALITY! on: 2009 October 06, 09:41:35
Merry Xmas returns and there are suddenly two new socktrolls. Coincidence? I'm guessing no. Some people never learn.

You can remove chimneys by using the moveObjects cheat, but I'm not sure if this would cause fires in the game. I did it by accident and promptly clicked the "undo" button.
15  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: New AwesomeMod Request Thread on: 2009 October 02, 06:06:58
A console command to turn on/turn off all sprinklers on the lot would be nice.

If your sim has high enough handiness skill, s/he can upgrade each sprinkler to work automatically, i.e. only when it is needed. A console command just seems too cheaty, imo.

In other words, EA has the Stupid trait.

Stupid people are stupid.

Couldn't you just make them sacred?
19  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Seaside Escape - A Breezy Victorian on: 2009 September 06, 01:51:44
rushmorerunner, this is gorgeous. I really really REALLY like what you did with the roof, and will probably steal borrow some of your ideas. BTW, if you use AwesomeMod, you can use the console command "wandhere" to depreciate the furnishings and thus bring down the cost. I do that to any house that I place in my game.
20  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Deadly Ghosts on: 2009 September 04, 04:23:12
Does the Tragic Clown even exist in TS3? I thought it was a TS1 thing, and only if you hung that hideous picture somewhere on a sim's lot.
21  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Loss of Commands? on: 2009 September 04, 03:49:56
Or enable debug commands in the aweconfig file.
22  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Shin-Ra Mansion with SECRET LAB! on: 2009 September 04, 00:19:43
I don't play FF but this is really cool. I've been planning on making a "vampire" for doing an AwesomeMod wolfrun with. This is the perfect house for him. Thanks!

Edited for stupidity.
23  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: sim in mailbox on: 2009 September 02, 20:21:09
I am going to assume it must be some kind of glitch.

Was that an intentional pun or just a happy accident?
24  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Queen Anne Cottage on: 2009 September 01, 09:09:22
There's a way to disable gridlines in Buy mode, through one of the settings in Build mode IIRC. If not Build mode, then through Options.
25  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Black Screen Then Computer Freezes on: 2009 September 01, 07:42:34
A black screen usually means that you've run out of video memory. How often do you save your game?
