1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Create More UNI based Sims? on: 2007 June 12, 15:45:20
Generate townies while on a university lot. I ended up with around 30 Adult "At Campus" townies who were for all purposes, dormies.

This post has information on interests attributed over age groups for born-in-game sims.

Is it possible now with Seasons "softer modding" of WantTrees for wants to be tied to interests along with personality?

This is not really an annoyance-stomping fix more so of a feature extension - similar to ltwvariety - for implementing more individuality and realism to sims. Interests connecting to wants can provide realistic job and major wants instead of the generic aspiration-driven monotony.
One example of this is with twojeff's No Pet Obsession: "Wants related to pets are also now dependent on the sims interest in animals. Sims with very low interest in animals will rarely roll up a pet related want."

Back to duck hunting; there is a few annoyances which could be alleviated; wants relating to learning to cook meals or (winnar !) wants to eat specific meals - even at invalid hours of dish availability. Although the "learn to cook" goals do occasionally pass fairly reasonable points at higher skill levels, being zerg-rushed with full house of clog is no fun. The prolonged "eat x" are, to me, nearly the lousiest <1000 asp wants. With a food interested sim, I wouldn't be as irate as simology comes into play.

I found these a while back at MTS2: Maxis-match Skintones by Purplepaws.
The shades encorporates around the four basic Maxis tones available and may be useful for anyone who wants variety with Maxis defaults.

I'm interested in variances between S1-S2, S2-S3 and S3-S4 with the Lyran default skintones (completed by the S0 Ivory and S5 Ebony available).
Very much like what I mentioned above yet in Lyran's style. Does anyone know if this has been done and is available anywhere?

Lizzlove bed goes Maxis

You may need to update the resources (BHAV/TTAB/etc) on the Maxis-cloned beds with Build 064

wolfsim68 has a fair amount of smaller gridded terrains now with less trees.
Another is Loverat's tiny terrains over at MTS2 which are fairly popular for smaller lot sizes.

There is always Fake Baked Goods. Taste sold seperately.

I would guess the "src" directory contains the source code and not required for typical usage.

13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Stupid young adults! on: 2007 April 18, 16:21:35
I noticed an uncanny resemblence between a cloned adult and a young adult in Body Shop (Seasons) recently but thought nothing of it.
Now looking back and testing; I can confirm there is no teen face textures being used at all for YA in my game, as reported here.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Celebrations Stuffit - Anything i should know? on: 2007 April 18, 16:13:59
It's not that bad of a pack. The objects have more persistent use in comparison to say, Family Fun Stuff, with the surreal fantasy furniture being difficult to implement for prolonged periods in any building. The additional cakes, buffet tables, wedding arch are a nice touch and should keep the game aesthetically pleasing. I'm not sure on available custom content relating to parties, though the Maxis items are well-rounded in variations and don't appear to abstract against any other game content. If you are a completist, you will enjoy it. If you are not, you will not be missing much without this pack. I'd recommend it over FFS or the Happy/Festive Holidays releases. On game problems, nothing out of the ordinary with the Seasons expansion - catalog items work as (probably) intended.

Along with the Glamour Life Stuff; these two packs are the only two stuffit packs I'd consider installing for the long-term.

There's No Dancing in Silence too.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deadly expensive hot tubs on: 2007 April 13, 17:40:17
I have a community lot with six lightning rods and have still seen frequent fires and sim strikes. Thankfully, no hot tubs there.
Overall, we need a hack that tweaks the probability of lightning strikes to a reasonable frequency.
17  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: No memories of adopting a stray? on: 2007 April 12, 01:32:57
I've never fulfilled the "Obtain a Pet" want through adoption of a stray but there is the memory you spoke of.
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Installed Celebration, Now Game Loads 50% of the time on: 2007 April 11, 20:41:41
I find the graphics sharper between Celebrations and Seasons. I'd guess the specs have upped slightly from Seasons requirements.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deadly expensive hot tubs on: 2007 April 11, 20:36:55
I had a sim gaining body in a swimming pool at the time of the incident mentioned above, and lightning never struck the water (weird, considering it is a larger body of water). The lot was wolfsim68's Stoneyville Community Pool. I'm going to stick a few lightning rods on community lots to avoid problems.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So, what's the best way to sort through and cull one's downloads? on: 2007 April 11, 16:19:37
Coincidentally, Delphy released an organiser tool - http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=227925
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deadly expensive hot tubs on: 2007 April 11, 15:28:18
I saw three townies get hit with lightning on a community lot with the same hottub recently. The third townie got hit twice - straight again after climbing out - and died. It's the first time a non-playable has died on a community lot for me. Lightning rods are becoming a must and apparently too much of a requirement. The percentage of lightning strikes in hot tubs needs tweaking.
22  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Seasons failing to load. on: 2007 April 05, 21:12:28
I use an image to avoid disc clutter and typically get a hung Sims2EP5.exe process. I'll go with the replacement .exe route.
Now the real challenge is finding a cracked executable for the Seasons patch. At the moment, there's no need though.

Have you tried deleting Groups.cache from the EA Games/The Sims 2 folder?
I usually move My Documents to a seperate hard drive soon after a clean install of Windows.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: tunnel vision parenting on: 2007 March 09, 12:16:39
I typically restart neighbourhoods frequently, and are always usually themed. At the moment, I started eight families off with the prior hood first generation characters as toddlers. The smart milk bug is awesome. No townies at the moment, though a few generations on I'll have to generate to keep a legacy going. My best experience was doing the Asylum challenge and in the end retaining the hood long after completion. Planning new hoods appears to be my specialty, just not keeping interest in continuing a concept.

Squinge made an Encourage Anyone hack which can allow friends of the family to help out.
