TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The "Where Can I Find This CC?" Thread - Because you fail at Google

I'm not sure there is a mod that does this, but you might be thinking of MaryLou's mini lots that were edited by aelflaed to have the sun at the front. Check her profile here and look for the Sunnyside lots - there are several flavors, including a few I just noticed - yay! There will probably be something helpful in the descriptions or comments. Yay! Thank you very much! Not exactly how I remembered it (but that's my own fault), but it's still very helpful. Thank you again!

For a while now I've been searching for a mod that changed where the light from the game's sun came in on the lot. Instead of from the back, it would change it so that it would be shining down on the front of the lot. I remember seeing it a year ago or two, and I didn't download it but I told myself to remember to download it another time. Unfortunately, I never remembered, until now, and after searching 'light', 'sun', 'front', 'sunnier' and combinations of those words on MTS2 (where I remember seeing it), it gave me results that weren't what I was looking for. I also searched on Google, 'sunnier lots TS2' and other phrases to do with light and sun on TS2, and didn't get much result from that either. A few weeks ago I also searched for it, but I never got much from that. I also searched on MaryLou's profile on MTS2 (because I thought that she had made it), but it looks like that she didn't make it. If anyone knows who made it, give me a shout out, please!

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nvidia GeForce 8500 Graphics Card?

Oh, it's all okay now thanks. The suggestions from everyone were great help, and yours too is appreciated. I loaded up the game after cleaning out some CC (I was going to anyway), and the temperature in the room was quite cold, and the game ran smoothly. I updated the drivers, and I'll have a look at the drivers to see if they've got a build up of dust.

I'll get that and see how I go. Currently the weather's good, air-conditioner's on, so I'll pop onto the site and download that and boot up TS2. Hopefully it will behave itself. Thank you for the link, when I'd googled around for NVIDIA updates it only had links for buying the actual cards. Thanks again to everyone who helped me!

I did what you recommended (Google is my best friend!), but I don't think I have the one that caused overheating. Thanks very much, though, it gave me some more insight. I must have an older update, but there's a chance my card overheated anyway because it was quite hot yesterday (even though the day before it was chilly and I had no graphics problems when the game was running), so it may have overheated. I will probably buy a fan, limit my game playing time or just choose to not have TS2 running on a hot day. It'll be winter soon, so that's good.
Thank you again for your help!

Well, I updated them a few months ago, and I heard that because NVIDIA doesn't make the 8500 cards anymore so they won't update them. I'm not altogether graphics-card savvy, but I'm pretty sure I have the latest update. I just googled for updates but couldn't find any later updates. Thanks for replying so quickly.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Nvidia GeForce 8500 Graphics Card?

Since installing TS2 on this new computer, my game's been fine. However, over the past few days there's been some very odd graphics glitches. I haven't been able to take any photos of them because the game becomes basically unplayable. I used my Google-fu, but I couldn't find any problems that were closely related to mine (as in, not just a black screen or not as serious as there just being blue, red and green banana splits across the screen).
The best way to describe it is the trees having brick textures and the main control panel being skewed everywhere, and blurry pixels covering the screen. During gameplay today, I sent a sim to the secret lot in Takemizu Village, and when I had paused the game and went back to the desktop to quickly check something and went back, I noticed the game going extremely weird. I figured it would get better if I just reloaded another lot (and I honestly didn't want to use the task manager to quit the game and lose my save), and it did. When the vacation ended and the family of sims returned to their house, the loading screen went odd again. When the house loaded after a few moments, the game went completely insane. Textures were everywhere, things skewing up and down and everything seems like a kid had come along and rubbed the screen with paint. I quickly tried to save (I wasn't sure if the game saved before the sims left the vacation) the game, but in the process the screen went black, and as I was coming back to my desk (I'd walked away to give it some time) the screen flashed the same blue you'd find on a blue screen of death, along with the white text, but then it suddenly went black again and rebooted.
I was momentarily stunned after seeing the blue screen, but then quickly sat down and waited for it to load up. After some research on MTS2, I found the graphics card I have (NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT) apparently has compatibility issues with TS2. I thought I'd done fine so far (and I have 2 gigabytes of RAM), seeing as a week ago my game was fine. I've played much longer than I had today (two weeks ago I was sick, so I spent about six hours playing), because I'd only opened up TS2 at about half past five and this happened at about seven. Do I need to purchase a new graphics card or just give my CC folder a clean out to ease the load on the graphics card? (BTW, I have 1.38 gigabytes of CC).
Thanks very much for the help! Apologies for my idiocy, I will try to contain myself from now on, but I am quite worried about my game and computer.

One thing which I forgot to put it, I have SecuROM on this computer because I haven't used cracks yet. Could I use cracks on my brother's computer so he doesn't get SecuROM, and still put in my backups? (Sorry if this sounds really dumb, I'm just making sure I cover everything so I don't break his computer or anything). So basically, I'm going to hire the original Sims 2 (I don't own it, I borrowed it from a video game shop when I installed it, so I just put the EPs on my computer) then I can just put all the cracks on, (begone, SecuROM) and then just replace the Neighbourhood files and add a downloads folder. I forgot to mention, he doesn't have the Sims 2 on it. (I'm really sorry I forgot to add that, I swore that I put everything down on the first post so to not be a bother). But I think I've got a good idea now, just install everything then change bits which I want. Thank you, Snowbawl, for your help.

The computer which I have currently has all EPs and SPs on it, but it's been slow because I only have half a gig of RAM. So, my brother has suggested that I move all of my Sims 2 folders onto his computer, (and I will play it on there) because it has 2 gigabytes of RAM, and our computers have shared connections. (There is a folder on this computer where I can put things which will appear on my brother's). And also, his computer has two screens, how would The Sims 2 fare there? So, the main question is, can I move The Sims 2 folders into the shared folder and put them on his computer? Thank you!

Thank you very much! I will definitely do what you suggested, good thing I keep backups now, before I used to never used CC or hacks, and then I found the wonderful world of Mod The Sims 2 and MATY. So now, before I ever install an expansion pack, I always back up. Thank you again, especially for all the hacks! Now my game doesn't shit itself every time since I have hacks from MATY. Edit: you untarded me?

Because I can't post anywhere else, I'm just going to put it here. I am reporting this bug with my game because I know this place is Awesome. Anyway, what happened was, I installed another EP and this family in Riverblossom Hills were all renamed, and were completely different to what I had typed in Create-A-Sim! Then, after getting frustrated, being non-Awesome, I deleted the family. Then I installed another EP, and two families in Strangetown were renamed! (Let me note, these were families all created by me, not any EAxis ones). I'm not sure what to do, and thank you to anyone who gives me any guidance.
