TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Error codes 12 and 13 along with crashing.

I've had the #13 error message a few times, but I've never actually seen a #12 message. What usually happens when I try to save is the same thing described by several people here; crash during saving and a corrupted file that can not be opened anymore. Instead of a picture of the family and their house there is a blue question mark in the thumbnail. I did find a couple of .bad files in my saves-folder, but these are files I can actually open and play. One of the .bad files is a continuation of the other one with a new family added. Both of these families mostly functioned as townies, so I went back to the latest save of my main family that didn't have these two households added, and I managed to get one uncorrupted saved file after playing that one for a while. Not to jinx it, because I had finally gotten the special seeds planted, I tried saving my progress under another name, and it crashed again. Fun.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Has anyone considered converting ts3 objects for ts2?

There are a few items from TS3 I really like too, but the more I think about it the less use it seems to be if someone were to adapt them for TS2. The things I was most interested in were the trees and shrubs, because as far as I know there is very little CC for that. I asked about it, and was explained that they are actually flat meshes that turn with the camera.
If most of the TS3 objects have been remade with lower poly count, they probably would not look good in TS2 at all, but more like CC anno 2005 off of TSR. Also, if I remember correctly, I have read something on here about the meshes not being the same scale, so that they would have to be re-sized. After that they'd need retexturing to be recolourable the old fashioned way. In other words, a lot of work for objects that are not even all that pretty.
If TS3->TS2 porting ever happens, clothes would probably be more interesting to do than furniture, because the new meshes look more shapely, even in the skinniest stage. At least I find the limbs looking better. But then there is the fact that they are made to be expandable, while in TS2 they would have to be "frozen", so they may be ridickulously simplified because of this and not look too great in TS2. If you wanted to mix-'n-match the conversions with regular TS2 clothing, a bit of tweaking would probably be necessary as well, and all bottoms would need shoes or feet added. Still, it would be great to have meshes that gave TS2 sims nicer looking hands. I know there are replacement feet, but I have never seen hands, which something in my brain tells me is because hands have more complex animations. Would that be a problem with converted TS3 meshes? Maybe the arms would have to be replaced?

Vacation? *Le Sigh!* I was really hoping that the first Ep would be something that replaced the rabbit holes with real buildings, something like a NL remake. We need the restaurants, night clubs and bowling alleys back. Being able to hit the town is much less fun when you can't really do anything except fish or sit on a bench and read. We need vampires prowling around, giving an extra thrill to the outing ("Will I make it back without being bitten?"), Mrs Crumplebottom with her purse of Doom and hopefully some new character or creature to encounter. Bring back that "night on the town" feeling!

In the past, at least, they have recognized CC as a good thing, but that may have been while relatively sane Maxis was in charge. I would hope that they just see the store as an additional source of income, because they CAN, rather than trying to stop 3rd party CC as many seem to fear. There will be CC whether EA likes it or not, and unless they like footbullets more than Jona does (and I'm not saying they don't), they most likely won't actively try to stop it.

...in addition to graphics that look like a throwback to TS1 more than an improvement on TS2, has influenced me to uninstall for now. For some reason the screens I've seen from TS3 do remind me a little of TS1, but not in a negative way. I think this is in part because of the colours used. TS1 had more vibrant colours than TS2 has, and they seem to be making a return in this new game. I'm fairly sure the brick fence used in the park and the large shrub with pink flowers are based on objects from TS1. There may be more, but those are the ones I've noticed. Also, TS2 tends to seem a little empty if you're not a good landscaper (I'm not), and even then the surroundings look pixelated and unattractive. The main reason I'm even going to buy TS3 is because the world itself looks so much prettier. I'm still hanging on to TS2, though.

I don't think the trees and shrubs will look nice in sims 2. Basically, they are a set of polygons, that always turn their face towards you as you move the camera. By this they actually make up the lack of detalisation. In sims 2 they can't do this, and so will look strange and poor.
OK, I sort of suspected it might be a "trick".

I have a weird question. Would it be at all possible, some time in the future, to extract meshes from TS3 for use in TS2? Of course they won't behave the way they do in TS3, and I can imagine there would be fixing of code required, but would it for example be possible to make those pretty tree- and shrub meshes work in TS2 as original objects?
