I'm having a similar issue with a Mac setup. I have framework installed, tried with and without awesome and .dll files in both files, still CTDs somewhere along the loading bar for a neighbourhood/save game loading file.

Toma$$ is sticking to his story that it is equal to the Sims 3 Launcher, which yes, I do consider malicious. I did not ask for your sodding adverts, and I will choose what I do with my computer without TSR telling me it MUST have access to my Internet connection and waste my bandwidth, to feed me complete shit.
And as for cutting it off at the firewall- who says it will run if it has no Internet connection?

To post a .sim file:
Find SimInge in game. Move her into a home.
Open the cheatbox and type "editsim Inge Jones". The Create A Sim screen should appear.
On the bottom of the screen, where her thumbnail is present, click the ellipses and there should be an icon for saving. Click it.
Quit game.
Enter "My Documents" or similar, then "Electronic Arts", "The Sims 3" and finally "SavedSims". Your sim should be there. The exact path will vary according to where the game stores userspecific information.
Upload and relink.

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / I fail so hard, I can't even install it!

Today, I tried to install an Arr!ed copy of Mansion and Garden stuff onto my laptop. Everything was going swimmingly until it came to the Apartment Life Updater (I have all EPs), and then it said that there had been an error and suggested a reinstall. I have gleaned from around these parts that uninstalling an expansion pack is a VBT, plus, as my AL was a gift from my mother (who bought the game from the EA store, damn her), it might be a tad difficult to retrieve the files. I tried applying the patch but of course, that didn't work, and came up with the same error.
Any help would be really appreciated.

I feel your pain, parrot- my rabbit ate the wireless slider switch of my laptop, and then proceeded to jump around the keyboard, basically typing incoherent gibberish into my work. He got no treats that night. We've also gone through our fair share of keyboard/mouse combinations, mostly thanks to my little brother being an idiot with them. I swear, I'm completely cursed with electronics. Ten phones, two laptops (soon to be three, most likely), five iPods and three cameras later, I still haven't learnt my lesson.

Marhis, that sounds like an absolute godsend for me. If any members of my family could see that keyboard, they'd be running to the kitchen drawer now for me. Except this thing gets so damn overheated, I would most likely end up with gooey plastic all over the computer.

No, it's okay now i can touch with the track pad, just the key won't work, which is a blessing. Saves me having to muck around with screwdrivers, and for the second time this year, it teaches me not to drink Coke near my computer- last time it was the keyboard.

I believe that taking out the space in between the target and "-w" might help some.
Mine looks like this :
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Apartment Life\TSBin\Sims2EP8.exe" -w without a space, so you might want to give that a try?

Any help that means I don't have to spend weeks waiting for my laptop to be fixed, would be very much appreciated.
So, I have a laptop. Normally it runs okay, if a little slow, etc. Today, the mousepad stopped working. The cursor still moves, it can hover over icons, it can right click. But it CANNOT left click, either by pressing on the key or on the pad itself, which normally works.
I really can't afford to have it sent off for professional repairs at the moment, I have exams coming up and this is the last thing I need. I'm having to use a wireless desktop mouse from another of my computers and if I carry on doing so, I will face death by younger brother.
If anyone has any ideas, I would be incredibly grateful.
