1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New laptop user, some questions on: 2008 August 30, 21:15:40
I bought an Alienware M15x laptop for my gaming. This thing makes my desktop look like a toy. It never overheats and I use it exclusively in my lap (I do have a cooling pad between myself and the laptop though).

Check to see if your laptop has bluetooth capability. Mine does and I bought a bluetooth mouse. No dongle and it connects automatically whenever my laptop is on. I could not live without my bluetooth mouse! It's really nice to not have to worry about breaking off that little dongle that comes with regular mice, or even having a cord hanging out.
2  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: The One Shiny: Autonomy Control on: 2008 August 21, 22:15:03
Yay! I just love new shinies! *grabs*

....
More specifically what happens is that as I visit each lot for the first time after installing autonomycontrol, sims who were in the middle of doing things at save time are no longer doing them.  This is most obvious for sims who were asleep (which is my commonest case of "doing things" at save time) are suddenly standing by their beds in whatever they wore to sleep in the first place.   Toddlers that had been undergoing forced skillination are found a square away from the toys hey had been using, stowed infants have leaked onto the floor.

I seem to get this same thing when entering lots for the first time after installing new mods, etc. Not sure why this happens, but I guess I never really thought much of it.
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hack for canceling out of automated prepare food from fridge? on: 2008 August 02, 22:22:39
For those of you who just absolutely insist on letting your sims run around on their own, the upcoming FOOD EATS YOU will resolve all of your food-related annoyances. Much like Bathroom Uses You, it will detect when a sim is trying to eat, and then redirect this request to a properly macro-calculated food routine. No more Lobster Thermidor or Stuff-Face.

Oooooh! A new shiny coming soon. Can't wait!

I have neverending issues with sims abusing the fridge and wasting food.
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Trying to Find A 500GB Notebook HDD on: 2008 July 04, 14:44:48
I have the alienware m15x and they offer a 500g for it and they offer a 500g hard drive for the smart bay (the smart bay can hold a battery, optical drive, hard drive, etc)!

1TB in a 15" notebook!! I love it! *hugs laptop*
5  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Bathroom Controller: In Soviet Russia, Bathroom Uses You! on: 2007 December 25, 03:55:49
Reupdate. That should have been fixed aeons ago.

Ah. Thanks! I am glad to hear that it is probably not a conflict of some sort.

I will redownload. I guess I thought that I just recently downloaded it. I must not have though if this issue was fixed a while ago.
6  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Bathroom Controller: In Soviet Russia, Bathroom Uses You! on: 2007 December 25, 03:48:53
Has anyone has problems with bigfoot and the bathroom controller?

I have a house with 8 sims, one is bigfoot. When I installed the bathroom controller bigfoot could not stay out of the bathroom. I had to remove the object from the restroom because he kept using the toilet, showering, using the toilet, showering and on and on in an unbreakable loop. Because I was trying to keep track of all those sims I did not notice until he had been doing it for some time.

Is this a known issue or is it something in my game that could be causing it. Most of my downloads consist of maty so I don't think it is being caused by the non-awesome. However that could always be the case. I have a few homes with bigfoot in them and would love to be able use the bathroom controller in them. Anyways I was just curious if anyone has used this in a house with bigfoot and what the results were.

Thanks!
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The stupid trees are back! on: 2007 December 14, 01:39:14
I have not seen any issues since I installed BV and Teen style stuff... Although I am sure it is on the horizon. So I should install it? Dang.

Are we talking BFBVFS or just kind of messed up if I don't uninstall it?
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The stupid trees are back! on: 2007 December 13, 01:37:56
I had the same thing happen! My sim left for work in their car and could not return because some phantom trees spawned randomly over the driveway and caused some sort of error.

I could not delete them or anything. I basically had to restart that lot. It was especially annoying because I had not saved for hours.  Undecided
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Let's Talk About Spyware, Baybee on: 2006 October 20, 02:57:25
If that has already happened, it's too late. They know everything about you already and are coming to get you.

Ah crap. No choice now.... *moves to a small island off the coast of Africa*
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Firefighters Won't Come! on: 2006 March 15, 01:32:19
Why won't the firefighter's come?  How can I fix this?

I know that the one time I had that happen there was a service person there and their car was in the road. It was during a party and most of the guests and most the house burned up. I was like WTF?!! I kept calling them over and over again. Nothing.

Anyway I finally just called it a loss and had someone later buy the property. As soon as the taxi pulled away from dropping them at their new house the fire truck caming roaring on scene!! Haha!! A little late! I almost died from laughter when I got lectured for calling them when there was no fire.

In the end I would try to delete any service cars and the emergency vehicles might show up? I am not sure.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Malfunctioning Robot Insanity!! on: 2006 March 11, 17:38:59
What are you talking about? Robots break less? Robots are SUPPOSED to go crazy. That's what makes them robots, their hidden, innate urge to DESTROY ALL HUMANS. You're lucky your sims SURVIVED!

Although the maid did die. Wink I was infinitely amused by this death. It was rather ironic really.  Grin
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: You're at work... so... WORK! on: 2006 March 10, 00:59:36
Oh I'm all for that. I know it's realistic, but it is VERY annoying. It happens way too much.

I disagree. I have put a ton of hours into my simmies buisiness's and the only time I recieved a complaining customer was when I set one of my employees to sell items. I found out quickly that customers view that as harrasment. So now my employees only restock or cashier. No one sells anything. At all. My business skyrocketed after that climbing ranks by the day.

I am confident that harrasing customers with sales tactics is not a good way to grow a business. I just ignore the customers unless they actually want something and my business goes crazy with happy customers.

It's actually quite effective.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Malfunctioning Robot Insanity!! on: 2006 March 09, 15:54:01

Thanks for the info guys. Smiley

Although.... Has anyone tried this hack yet? I am very cautious when it comes to non-awesome hacks. I really want it but I am not sure I want my game to blow up in a ball of fire visible from space.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Malfunctioning Robot Insanity!! on: 2006 March 09, 04:10:04
Dawnkeeper, I know its know help, but I could not stop laughing. The maid dying was the icing on the cake! Grin

I was actually quite amused when I found the dead maid. I have never experienced a death by flies in my game before so this was a first for me. Smiley
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FFS OFB Compatibility List on: 2006 March 08, 02:31:07
The reason your sims (Servo or otherwise) keep picking up their forks and then putting them down is because they are FULL, and therefore cannot eat that!

Ah. Gotcha. So I will put it back in. Servo is full all the time so he cannot eat according to noeatcrap. Thanks!  Wink
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Malfunctioning Robot Insanity!! on: 2006 March 07, 18:19:25
Dunno about idiotness, but it sure made for a great story lol!

Yeah! I wish I had thought to get a screen shot of my acres of garbage and all the sims piled around holding their noses! Lol!  Cheesy
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Malfunctioning Robot Insanity!! on: 2006 March 07, 17:52:12
I think when ever servo touches water like swimming, washing dishes, or fixing broken sinks and showers It will run amok which defeats the purpose (almost) of owning a servo. You can never really fire the maid but servo is very good with babies and bringing in extra money.

Yeah, so Scotty is right we need a water proof servo mod. Plus a break-down-less-often or not at all hack. How about all bundled into one super robot hackaroonie.  Grin
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Malfunctioning Robot Insanity!! on: 2006 March 07, 17:33:15
I had servo go wild on me but that was because everytime she queues up chores if the shower was broken she get all wet and power down. In the morning she would be running amok thank goodness it did not affect the other robots.

Maybe that is what happened to my servo. He suddenly ran outside and powered down for no apparent reason. I had not been watching so I was not sure what happened. He seemed like he had a ton of power not a few minutes before hand.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Malfunctioning Robot Insanity!! on: 2006 March 07, 17:18:44
 Shocked

Okay, last night I was learning how to play with robots in my game in OFB. It went really well at first. I had a cleanBot in the house, a cleanBot and a hydroBot outside and a sentryBot outside. I thought they were so neat auto-cleaning and watering away. Nice.

One night I noticed that as my sims went to sleep that the fast-forward clock was moving really-really-really slow. Slower than live-time. So I looked around and sure enough the robots were ALL going crazy outside. One was spewing water and the other one was spewing garbage everywhere!! So I panicked and put the last cleanBot outside to clean up the mess until I could figure out what to do. Well within the hour the new cleanBot went crazy too.

So because I must be a huge idiot I pulled out my trusty Prima guide and read up on malfunctioning robots. It says: Malfunctioning robots cannot be turned off with the "turn-off" interaction--they'll shut down on their own eventually....blah, blah". So I decided to call a maid and just let things take their course.

After that things go even crazier. I mean insane! I waited 48 hours in Sim time with the clock creeping by in slow motion. The whole friggin' propery was covered in garbage, weeds, and water puddles. People were piling up on the sidewalk with "gross" interactions over and over again. Pretty soon the robots just ran out places to dirty so they just ran-amok sparking everywhere.

I finally just gave up and decided to see if I could manually shut them off with my sim and sure enough it worked. *Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr* WTF?! Stupid bleeping hint guide. *puts out a hit on Prima* I could have just shut them down in the first place. Argh!

Anyway it took two more sim days to clean up the mess. On top of that at one point the maid had died during this whole fiasco. I found his grave out amongst the garbage piles. Apparently he walked over the garbage so much that he spawned a death-by-flies!! Haha!! He kept cleaning up one pile of garbage and then to have come along a robot to spew up more in it's place.

Then after all that the whole place was crawling with bugs and the exterminiator took three more days to even get rid of those. My sims have so much "Vermin!" memory spam I think my game might explode! On top of that everyone in the whole neighborhood has the flu now. *sigh*

Then to my insurmountable idiotness I started up a Servo just to see him breakdown within 24 hours and run amok. Really.

Anyway the point to all this is, is there any hacks out yet, or in the works to make it so robots do not break down anymore? That would be really nice. The malfunctioning robot thing was funny for like the first 3 minutes or so.  Roll Eyes

Anyone else had this happen? Maybe not to my degree of idiotness anyway I bet.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FFS OFB Compatibility List on: 2006 March 07, 17:02:24
I finally got around to creating a servo last night and noticed he kept trying to eat but was unsuccessful. He kept picking up his utensil and putting it down. I went right for the "noeatcrap" mod and sure enough after I took it out he could eat again.

Not that Servo needs to eat really, but I thought I would mention this as a possible problem that may need to be looked into. I have alot of J.M.'s and three other hacks: "Quaxi censor.package" and some two_jeffs stuff. I am not sure that the hack would be clashing with those but it very well could be.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB - What works, what doesn't on: 2006 March 04, 19:40:30
you have to enable CC on the pop up screen befor you get to the neighborhood then restart you r game for it to show up

I double checked that it was enabled and it is. I even restarted the game a few times to make sure that it had a chance to enable the custom content.

EDIT: I found the problem. I had to change the name of my EA Games / The Sims 2 / downloads folder to "Downloads". I am assuming it is case sensitive in CAF and not in the game itself. CAF could not see the folder at all. The rest of the game could access the folder just fine. I find that interesting.

They must not have put in the code for IF (EXISTS "Downloads" OR "downloads"), in the CAF section. But yet it can see either folder in the game itself. Anyway I am filing that away for further reference so I do not make the same mistake twice. Lol.

Thanks! :-)

Create a family in the game or do you mean Body Shop?

In create a family no custom content shows up..... I am not sure what to do.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone want a spare mascot download code? I got extras! on: 2006 March 03, 05:47:41
Ok all, I am tired of emailing.  So, here for a limited time only (7 days) here's the link to download it from my online file folder:

Thanks so much! I got your email. Smiley
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB - What works, what doesn't on: 2006 March 03, 02:16:08
I took out all of my hacks and any hacked objects until I could go over JM's whole list. The only thing I left in was non-worrisome stuff like recolors, custom skins, and hair.

I am not sure why but none of my custom anything is showing up in Create a Family. Has this happened to anyone else? The weird thing is my default custom skins I have installed are definately showing up as are one or two hacks that I added back in. No custom hair, clothing, make-up etc. Nothing. I even pulled a few custom skins out of the folder they were kept in and placed them directly in my downloads directory. The game still did not pick them up.

I double checked and all my custom object, walls, floors, and recolors are showing up. I wonder why just the CAS stuff is not showing? Any ideas?

Thanks!
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone want a spare mascot download code? I got extras! on: 2006 March 03, 01:58:26
Or if anyone wants it, I got it emailed to me today, and I will happily send the package to whomever wants it.  Wink

Me! Me!! *waves hand furiously*  Grin I sent you a PM with my email addy. Smiley
