Just thought I'd throw it out there; you don't actually have to wait to sculpt the statues randomly. They're available in buydebug, along with the new inventions.

Baaa for the mod.
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Tombs do not reset on: 2009 December 30, 10:39:07
I haven't tried this yet, but isn't there a way to save comm lots as tombs? Perhaps just plopping a copy of a tomb isn't enough, but if you save it as one, the opportunities might recognize it as one? Just a thought.

Edit: Just thought of something else. All the EA tombs/lots seemed to be locked using the lock cheat. Perhaps copying them and setting them down again unlocks them? I'm just throwing stuff out because I can't really play right now, but I remember messing with the lock cheat and different ways to save lots before.

Could someone post the full version number for the 1.8/2.1 patch or post a direct link? I, too, am impatient to play with CAW.

I was really looking forward to C.A.W. and now to add to that disappointment, they want to spam up my game with their store crap? Unless this shop mode BS opens the door to allow user-made CC to be downloaded in-game as well, or update mods and test them without restarting, DO. NOT. WANT!

So far, I haven't seen sims autonomously purchase things at the registers other than the food register. The general store register opens up an empty shopping list. Nothing is in it. But, if you use "buydebug" cheat in buy mode at home, you CAN buy tents, scooters, shower in a can, and many many more.

I placed a regular bookshop in my France neighborhood and the only books I could buy from it were from France (wine making, frog fishing scrolls, etc.) Maybe the shopping lists are specific to whatever region you're in? So, the list doesn't come up because there's no general store associated with the main hood? Of course, as you mentioned, you can always use buyDebug to get what you need. It's definitely not the same as your sim purchasing it for themselves, but it's all we got until (or unless) they make an OFB-type EP.

Anyone know how to make the quality of a plant worse? I had a sim get an opportunity to bring 10 bad apples to work, but when he planted the bad apple, it became of very nice quality. Probably due to the fact that he has the green thumb trait and/or level 10 gardening skill.
7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 June 03, 18:01:11

resetsim name name has never worked for me. I told the dad to read to the toddler, so he put the kid in the high chair. Then took him out. Then put him in. Then took him out. So I got fed up and sold the high chair. The kid vanished with it. I have been unable to recover him, despite him still showing in the family picture and the relationships being intact.

Resetsim is not the solution for a deleted Sim, it is the alternative to deleting a Sim.  If a Sim gets stuck in an action or refuses to respond, you use resetSim to essentially recreate the Sim near his home.
Maybe I'm dumb, but from the description, I thought it should fix this. ): Does that mean that there is no solution to deleted Sims? The kid was cute.
I did save as so I could go back to some point, but I'd rather not go that far back. I just want to interject the kid back into the family. Sigh.

Try this: Go into Edit Town mode and see if the kid is still a part of the household. If he is, grab someone random from the sim bin and move them in and then out again. This should reset the household and the kid should be standing by the mail box, with all opportunities/wishes gone and an empty inventory. It's a pain in ass but it's the only way I've found to retrieve missing sims.
