1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Abandonated Mods Needing Updates for Free Time on: 2008 March 18, 09:44:16
There's an updated FT version of Squinqe's PregnancyWearAnyOutfit in the FT Inteen public beta thread:

http://box156.bluehost.com/~aestudi1/forums/inteenimater/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1066

Unfortunately I think it only works in correspondence with the kitten killer.
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage Patch #2: Now on thesims2.ea on: 2008 February 22, 10:27:13
With BV there are no more honeymoon limos - if you want a honeymoon, you have to book a honeymoon holiday prior to the wedding party.  If everything works, your newlyweds will go to the shuttle after the wedding and get whisked off to the holiday destination for a playable honeymoon (which is indistinguishable from any other BV holiday, as far as I can tell).

Because I kept getting looping wedding parties when I booked honeymoons, I stopped booking honeymoons... and I still get the limo.
3  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Wardrobe error and leftovers vanishing. on: 2007 March 03, 22:56:49
Neither the fridges nor the wardrobes are custom. I turned off all my hacks and turned them on again using clean installer but the problem (at least with the leftovers) has disappeared without removing any hacks - what caused it, since it created no logs or errors, is a mystery. The wardrobe error is intermittent, it will work perfectly to plan outfit in a home and then suddenly will no longer work and cause errors. The only non-awesome hack I have in is Monique's computer, and I'm only keeping that in so my sims's mortgages continue to work as usual until it's updated, I don't touch the computer otherwise.
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Wardrobe error and leftovers vanishing. on: 2007 March 01, 00:19:53
Firstly, getting an error when trying to plan outfit - log attached. I'm guessing this is due to hacks, I'm currently using all that have been "approved" for use, so may be a problem with one of them.

Secondly, I can put leftovers away but when I try to get them out again I select the leftovers I want and the sim opens the door and closes it again - leftovers vanishing into the ether. There's no error log for this, however. Ideas?
5  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Phone jump bug - cannot call sims on: 2007 January 05, 09:57:33
It appeared to be a really really old version of the phone hack secreted in my downloads folder. How it got there and why it only just now decided to screw with the game is anyone's guess.
6  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Phone jump bug - cannot call sims on: 2006 December 30, 08:12:30
Good old jump bug - any sim attempting to use the phone jumps out of the interaction. Error log attached. I did see another post about this yesterday while trawling MATY but no solution was really pinpointed and found. Any assistance appreciated!!
7  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neighbourhoods have disappeared... ZOMGPETZ. on: 2006 October 28, 06:25:36
Fixed by deletion of My Documents/EA Games. Something was obviously rotten in my files - I have replaced neighbourhoods, downloads, etc. and no more problems. Can't pinpoint the problem but at least it's fixed.

Miros, I think the reason you had such a long load time was because the game needed to regenerate the files you burninated. You can replace groups.cache from the CD to avoid that.
8  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neighbourhoods have disappeared... ZOMGPETZ. on: 2006 October 27, 07:57:58
I burninated neighbourhoodmanager.package - nothing. Interestingly, when I checked my neighbourhoods subfolder again it did not generate a new neighbourhoodmanager.package. Perhaps this is linked to the problem.

I'll try deleting My Documents/EA Games again and see what happens.
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Neighbourhoods have disappeared... ZOMGPETZ. on: 2006 October 26, 13:34:31
I installed Pets first time around and had the "stuck loading family" style error which tends to accompany every new expansion, so I did a manual uninstall of the whole game, reinstalled, etc. Now I am unable to get any of my neighbourhoods on the start screen - they do exist in my documents but are invisible in the game. I did create a test neighbourhood which appears if it is in the neighbourhoods directory. I've tried removing all downloads, another manual uninstall of Pets, letting the game regenerate its three neighbourhoods (they don't appear either). So, I'm fresh out of ideas - anyone had this before? I recall reading about it after another expansion was released but have tried searching to no avail. Help!!
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Slot/Poker Machines? on: 2006 September 24, 12:23:07
I'm currently searching for something that resembles a poker machine (more commonly called slot machine in the US). I've attempted searching the major free sites but haven't found one. Any clue where such a machine may be hiding? It's required for a story, so if it's only a recolour of an arcade game that's fine. Any help is appreciated!
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Oh Crap...... on: 2006 June 19, 09:49:46
I got this error as well, though I have no idea how to fix it - my error came from the B001 neighbourhood, which I replaced with SaraMK's cleaned up templates to remove ugly-jerk-spawnage. I'm guessing I'll probably have to replace the original template from the CD, patch, then put my preferred template back. How fun.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Disease Contagious? + Angry Employees on: 2006 April 24, 15:16:49
Shaklin's medicine cabinet also has an "immunise" option, which I used in my severely plagued Pleasantview. It was impossible to cure any other way since about 100 sims were afflicted. I use the immunisation with all sims now as soon as they hit childhood.
13  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Face Template Replacements (Work in Progress - Pictures) on: 2006 April 04, 10:23:49
For instance, the infamous #18, CAUS; I figure the AUS is for Australian, more specifically Aboriginal Australians. It's sure not Austrian. I dug up photos of Aboriginal Australians, and it turns out they're actually completely human, and are not a grotesque frog-human hybrid. Maxis. They do have distinctive facial proportions, particularly the short nose and the wide face. But having a wide face isn't the same as having a wide head, as the template does. Their heads aren't particularly wide, but are short, so they may seem squat and wide. I toned down the bloated head and other exaggerations, but hopefully I succeeded in keeping the unusual proportions.

I'm Australian, and your versions are much more Aboriginal in appearance than the originals - the originals look terribly exaggerated and I've never seen an Aboriginal man or woman with those facial features. I agree with Renatus - they are pretty upsetting and offensive.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Better Genetics? on: 2006 March 20, 08:05:40
The only annoying thing is that the child won't pass on his medium tan skintone to his children - he will pass on either the dark or pale skintones of his parents. I wouldn't mind having the occasional recessive skintone pop up in this way, but for everyone all of the time?  Huh
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Problems with the new Bluewater terrain. on: 2006 March 14, 07:44:15
The blonde on the right and the dark haired man beside her are early incarnations of Dina Caliente and Don Lothario.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: It's Brynne's default...really (skins question) on: 2006 February 20, 08:28:03
Couldn't you simply select a default skintone while in CAS for Brynne? That's what I did with MATY sims who had custom skintones.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's so hot about Darren Dreamer? on: 2006 February 02, 14:44:46
I wonder how Maxis came up with the zodiac compatibility scheme in the first place. Is it designed to match up complimentary personalities... or is it loosely based on some supposably "realistic" compatibility scheme for the western astrology? I enjoy reading horoscopes and all, but I don't totally believe in them. They're fun and generic enough to see how they can fit your life. But I personally don't think that zodiac signs really determine your love life. And at least within the confines of this game, your zodiac sign doesn't determine your personality, rather your personality determines your zodiac sign. Tongue

I think you're right there - and that the point of the zodiac signs is simply so that personalities have one header (aries, taurus, etc.) rather than five. It's all rather pointless, but that's Maxis. Oh, and horoscopes are generally stupid because sun sign astrology - determining your personality based on your sun being in one sign of the zodiac rather than all planets in their sign, degree, house and aspecting other planets - is not astrology. I laugh my way through them in the Sunday paper for their total genericness and inaccuracy with what's actually going on up there.  Cheesy  And, no, as far as I can tell from a chart I have of Sim-based zodiacal attraction, it has no relationship to astrological attraction, which is pretty limited when you remove the Ascendant, Venus, Mars and the Moon anyway. There should be much more opposition and square attraction (opposite signs - aries to libra, aries to cancer, etc.; and planetary signs - taurus and libra, aries and scorpio). If I could mod I'd mod the attraction system that way!

18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Try for Baby on Community Lots on: 2006 January 31, 12:44:54
This also happened to me with the base game. When I first got the game, I made a family of husband, wife and husband's brother. I then left them in their house and never played them. About three months later I remembered them and went inside, to find the wife was pregnant to a romance sim I'd had woohooing the ladies of Pleasantview. A few days before going back to the wife's family, 'Try for Baby' had popped up on the downtown clothing booth while she and the romance sim were there and I'd clicked it. I never heard the lullaby, however.

Maybe it was an original glitch, since I've never had it happen since Uni. But it was impossible for her to have been selectable at that time as I'd never played her past the first day I installed the base game, and the romance sim had been created only a month before the pregnancy.

At the time, the only hack I had was the jump bug fix as well, since that was the first hack I ever downloaded for Sims 2.

19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to age baby to toddler? on: 2006 January 13, 13:10:59
Normally I just wait the day out, but when I used to be extremely impatient to see genetics I would use testing cheats, then click on the baby and select "set to birthday". Then you can age up with cake/baby controller/whatever.  Smiley
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Family Allowance/Child Benefit for sim parents? on: 2006 January 07, 14:51:45
Australia, to me, is losing what it once had - I blame the government, because it seems these days that more people are focussed on their money and their mortgages and their brand new cars and themselves when people used to actually care about strangers and their feelings. And since our government wins elections based on interest rates, the economy, and how much of our tax they're piling away in the vaults (while hospitals, schools, transport, public works, etc. are suffering) for some "rainy day" - I'm very disappointed in what my country has become.

Kristalrose, your post made me so sad and angry - I wish it was fiction, but then the truth is generally worse than fiction. The worst part is that there is so little you can do, even if you act with all of your power and ability, in those situations.  Sad

Kyna, I understand where you're coming from, and its good to hear from the other side of the Centrelink divide - when my parents divorced my Mum went on the single parent pension as well since she was unemployed at the time, and although we weren't able to remove ourselves entirely from the welfare (due to her working part-time to look after me) it did reduce after the initial money problems. Most people on Centrelink benefits are well-deserving; there are a lot of young people on the NewStart and Youth Allowances that I know, mainly due to lack of any work in the area I live in. But I have encountered quite a few women who do exploit the system in this way - they are not the majority, but most I have met come either from bad family situations or their mothers did a similar thing with their children.

I moved to Canada. Everyone says "but, but... the climate..."

Ha! I'd rather have been in Canada this New Year's, with the 45 degree temperatures... sure, the winters are mild but summer is getting horrendous.

21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Family Allowance/Child Benefit for sim parents? on: 2006 January 06, 13:17:58
Over the past few budgets the Australian Govt has been setting aside more money and new incentives to encourage more people to have children.

What was their catchphrase? "One for the mother, one for the father, and one for the Prime Minister"? - that turned me right off.  Cheesy

here in Australia they introduced a baby bonus - started paying $3000 at the birth of a child - sadly this caused a lot of teenagers to go out and get pregnant because they were getting (as they saw it) a huge amount of cash, not realising that the baby would cost them so much more.  Unfortunately the government hands out so many different welfare payments that it can actually be quite lucrative to be a single mother, unemployed and pushing out babies - certainly pays more than any job an uneducated, inexperienced person could actually obtain.

The government is slowly increasing the baby bonus - going up to $4000 some time this year, and $5000 at some stage next year - once again I can only see this payment encouraging the very young uneducated to go out and have children...

I know quite a few people who've taken advantage of the system in this way. They see it as being "set for life" - or at least sixteen years, depending on how many children they have - because they get plenty of money from Centrelink, plus child endowment, commission housing (where if your bathroom/kitchen/roof needs renovating, they come and do it free and quickly - wish they'd do that for my house!). As a student, stuck on $100 a week from the government and whatever else I can earn before they cut me off, it makes me angry... I just see it as an example of the government wanting people to choose this lifestyle and making it extremely difficult for other people from poorer backgrounds to get the education they need for whatever career they've chosen. A disturbing trend in Australian society, that's my opinion.  Sad
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Open for Busioness Video 1/05/05 on: 2006 January 05, 12:08:50
Does anyone know how exactly the shops are meant to work? Are they residential, or community, or some new lot type?

I'm hoping for a possible residential/community combo, as well as just plain community, so it can really become a family business. Plus, no travel/lot change lag!

And those elevators looked positively swish.  Smiley
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why does my Sim disapprove? on: 2006 January 04, 11:59:58
Pre-nightlife, I had a sim's father "approve" when he saw his son flirting with the governess (Victorian neighbourhood). He didn't really care for his son's wife. Post-nightlife, it seems it'd be a different story, which is annoying - that seemed a bit more realistic, and the sim made his own decision based on his dislike of his daughter-in-law, if not the exact way I wanted my plotline to go.

I'd like to live in the ghetto and slum areas - I'd get bored living the good life for too long!
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Something I've installed has brought cheering back on: 2005 December 18, 14:39:08

Although, I've also encountered a problem when calling the matchmaker.  Her dialogue comes up blank...but since I know what she says I am able to choose which option I want.

Possibly autoyak? Since that's on your list of recent hacks and this other problem is to do with the phone.
