1  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis house of Phail: April 09 on: 2009 April 07, 03:51:33
I've been looking at a lot of showhomes lately and decided to come out of my lurking to try this house of phail thing...here goes!

I don't usually build tropical houses, but this one looked really good on the beach in Belladonna Cove so I just went with it.

$63,303 (wanded)
Download Here
Playtested
I have all EPs and SPs.

The house layout works really well despite the fact that the house is split in half and the only way to get to the upstairs bedrooms is by using the outdoor staircase. In playtesting there weren't any complaints except for the fact that the center bookcase in the 'Library' is rendered unusable by furniture placement, but I love the way it looks, so I left it in. Easy enough to delete if it bugs you. I designed it for a family of four and it was a bit annoying when the kids would walk through each others bedrooms because of the shared bath, but that was easily fixed with some locked doors. I hope at least one person likes it!

So is life stories worth buying?

Does the guy with the 700 IQ actually display a faster learning ability than the normal or the 300 IQ? Does he gain skills at hyper speed or does it just display a high number and not really change anything? Just wondering if it's actually useful.

5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Possible to make a sub-neighborhood w/ no townies whatsoever? on: 2006 October 10, 22:07:30
There's a way to delete the character files from the template folder of the sub neighborhood. I can't remember exactly how, but I learned from this thread:

I believe the lot jump feature of the lot synch timer is not supposed to be used as of OFB. Check the lot synch timer thread in the firing range.

Yep, you've most definitely created a BFBDVFS.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: toddlers playing together, why not? on: 2006 June 02, 18:01:02
According to the article on this page:

http://www.simshost.com/chronicle/chronicle-20050408.html

toddlers can be directed to play together with the toybox. I've never tried it myself, though so I'm not making any promises.
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I got a good review, where is it? on: 2006 June 01, 22:33:30
Yep, The reporter's message at the end will tell you that they have given you the best of the best award and it will be in the business owner's inventory.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I got a good review, where is it? on: 2006 June 01, 21:28:05
You only get a physical object if you get the "best of the best award." When sims pass by the award plaque they will take notice and their buy bar ill get a large boost when they browse an object. Just getting a "good review" will not get you a best of the best award plaque.

I've never seen this before. What does it look like when a sim has the jitters?

There's always the kitten killer.

parsimonious has a few toddler outfits that are sort of gothic, but you have to search through them for a bit to find them.

The machines could break down once in a while too, my washing machine always shakes and starts moving across the floor when too much clothing gets put inside. It makes a terrible racket, but it's pretty funny.
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: issues with macros - and another odd problem. on: 2006 April 16, 04:46:06
I had the same problem with townie generation even when I removed all my hacks. And you're right, it does seem to work if you just generate them one at a time.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Family Fun Pack - No Piracy on: 2006 April 06, 23:32:45
I guess I don't really know how things work. How can you play without the disc? Or a serial number for that matter.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Family Fun Pack - No Piracy on: 2006 April 06, 23:27:13
According to this post:

http://bbs.thesims2.ea.com/community/bbs/messages.php?threadID=326009a24a5d6a6e39bfc8ba6e3ab310&directoryID=2&startRow=1&hideFramework=true&openItemID=item.2,item.43,item.41,item.23

The Sims 2 Family Fun Stuff has a serial number, you need to put the disc in to play the sims 2 and there is a new desktop icon. So I guess the, "oops...how did the sims 2 family fun stuff find it's way onto my computer?" option is out.

Mind you I guess it doesn't really matter seeing as how the pack doesn't even exist yet, eh Pescado?
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Regarding the Lot Sync Timer... on: 2006 March 22, 20:22:46
I think you have to enable debug mode to get the uninstall from family option.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Family Fun pack at *GRASPS* $20.00! on: 2006 March 16, 15:38:25
There's new Family Fun info at www.snootysims.com

I wasn't planning to buy it before, but now that I've seen all the cute little outfits and bedroom furniture, I must admit I'm a little tempted. I am definately not going to pay $20 American for it, though.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Couple of questions about OFB on: 2006 March 14, 19:02:10
A good way to get rich quick is to put a ticket booth on you lot. You can start out with inexpensive tickets and build up your sales skills and loyalty stars. (A Best of the Best Award can't hurt either) Once your shopowner learns how to dazzle you can charge $700 or more per hour. I was really surprised that Sims didn't seem to mind paying that much after seeing a best of the best award and then being dazzled into buying admission. It's the best way I've learned to make money. It doesn't cost me anything to have Sims hanging around my lot for $700 per hour. You can still sell stuff on the lot, too. So you can make money for them being on your lot and for buying merchandise. (I mark much of the merchandise for cheap to build up customer loyalty)
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Questions about the Best of the Best reward... on: 2006 March 12, 03:57:06
I got the Best of the Best Award on the very first day of the first store I ever opened. I only gave the reporter 2 loyalty stars, though. So I don't think you need three. (Maybe I just didn't notice a third) I didn't seem to have to keep the reporter especially occupied either. When Sims walk by the award they get a little thought bubble with the award in it, then when they buy something the buy meter starts higher than usual. The buy bar doesn't seem to go up any faster, though. I place the sign near the sidewalk so that sims have to go by it at least once.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: an "I wish" thought on: 2006 March 09, 22:34:53
I have a Soma bed by windkeeper with the energy level pushed up. (At least I think it works, I've never actually timed it or anything) Maybe you could ask her how she cloned the maxis bed and then raised the energy level. The only bad thing is that it's really cheap. It feels like cheating to buy it.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it possable to do this? on: 2006 March 09, 22:29:11
Are you sure it's impossible to code this for children? I mean can't one make the kids think that they're teens or adults just when you want the carpool to pick them up and drop them off? Isn't that what the inteenimator does? Make the teens think they're adults in order to enable woohoo, pregnancy etc? Perhaps this only works for interactions, though and not career type objects. I don't know anything about coding though so I'm just guessing. Anyway, if it's possible I would love to see this, especially for kids. They don't have anything to do otherwise.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Where are all the darn reporters!?!?! on: 2006 March 09, 15:31:40
The second lot that I loaded after getting OFB got a reporter on the first day the store was open.(It was the Delarosa flower shop) I didn't even know that it was a reporter until the dialogue came up: "You got a good review." I saw a Sim walking around with a notebook, but I didn't really pay any attention. Then with the first business I opened (A home business with a ticket booth and flamingos for sale) I got a reporter on the very first day (level 1 business) who gave me the "best of the best" award. It sure didn't take much to impress the reporter. Now, business is really easy. I hardly have to do any selling because every time a Sim walks by the "best of the best" sign they get the urge to buy something and the "buy" meter starts out rather high.

I guess it's just the luck of the draw whether a reporter decides to come to your lot.

I've opened 2 business now and still havent seen a single reporter!
my electronic store is rank 10, and my home business is rank 5 now....
made almost a million simoleon and still no reporter!!?

Seeing as how earnings don't affect business rank, I don't think it would affect whether a reporter comes to your lot or not.

It would make a lot more sense if reporters were more likely to come once your business reached, say,  level 5 or so. I guess Maxis doesn't like to make things challenging.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Shoplifters on: 2006 March 07, 01:19:23
The rumor on the BBS is, that the shoplifters mainly are teenagers, who leave at curfew time at 7 pm, with a bag full of unpaid goodies. They should however show up another time, still with the bag, and pay for any goods they removed from the shop.

I still have to see this happen myself, as I dont have any teens in my game at the moment.

Now that you mention it, the Sim that "stole" my tree was a teen. But, I'm pretty sure she left around 3 PM or so though, since I closed the store at 5 PM. So I think it's a bug and not just curfew.
