TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Constant Route Failure

I've been getting the same route failures when playing the neighbourhood that came with Ambitions, so I don't think it's just custom worlds. This has only started with Generations, though I thought it may have had something to do with the spiral staircase, but when trying to have my sims get to work from the first floor they spaz out and cancel the action before they can get outside. I have to teleport them to the front lawn before they can go.

Am I simply blind or does this one not include a keygen? And I'm having a devil of a time finding one by itself on the internets. With Utorrent (not Azureus/Vuze) as a client you can choose what files to keep from a torrent, you could therefore just grab a couple NFO files. Thanks, I did check out the NFO. :3

Okay, I feel like a total idiot, but I can't figure out how to change the region code on my machine. I went into regedit, and the only Sims I can find is under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Electronic Arts/Sims 3/Settings. There's no option to change the code under this setting. If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be awesome After Software, don't stop at Electronic Arts, scroll further down to Sims, then click Sims 3 and right click the SKU and choose modify. roflcopter... I own legit TS3 (yes, I bought it)
I cannot install the expansion because of the region the game thinks it is.
You want to fix this? In regedit... HKLM\SOFTWARE\Sims\The Sims 3
Change SKU value to 7.
Then yay, it installs. Screw EA.

I don't take enough time to look at the scenery. I usually play at an 80 degree angle and only see the background when intentionally taking pictures. Tis a pity, because it's very nice. Moar scenery. Aspiring Rock Star Anna is seen practising her guitar skills. Yeas later, jaded Anna spends her free time drinking "juice" and lounging about in her bathing attire. The burglar is waiting patiently where the cop left her. Also, I just recently found out that when the burglar is waiting outside, clicking on her allows the option to "set free". Haven't tried it yet, but I shall sooner rather than later. Moar polite thief. Alvin here is crying pitifully for his mama after being mauled by a bear. Cooking, she's doing it.

Yet another nearly clueless person trying, and failing, to apply this patch. I'm installing it on a fresh install (not arred or downloaded) - no mods or anything. The rtpatch.log tells me this: "Blah blah blah Applying DFC Update for 'Game\Bin\code_version.txt' Error: err0031 - Invalid file found"
I have replaced the code_version.txt with the one copied off the CD many times, but still no luck. Bah.
Have you Re-installed from blank and then applied the 1st patch right after? Also make sure to have the correct version of the patches (US/WW/EU/DD). No matter what things you replace, some of the games are seriously borked. Yes, fresh-install. When I last uninstalled I deleted everything that I could find that had to do with TS3. A month later I got the urge to play, the very same day the new patch was released. Got around to installing today then tried to apply the patch right after. I tried the correct version, supposedly, but I'll try another version just for the hell of it to see what happens.

Yep, same thing I'm having to do, jrcaporal. Can't believe the uninstaller ended up fucked in the end, too. I deleted registry key after registry key and temp files, and it was still being a bitch about uninstalling. GAH! Fucking insane!
Sammy, I hate to say this, but I'm willing to bet you'll have to reinstall, too, because no matter how many things I replaced with the originals (over and over again), the whole thing was still seriously fucked.
Hurr, good thing I decided to try and patch after I just installed it, then. I had just felt the urge to reinstall the blasted thing to. Bah, maybe I'll be more inspired tomorrow.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Autonomous woo-hoo! Oops ... sorry, honey ....
|
on: 2009 July 06, 02:51:47

Firstly, awesome that they can do that autonomously! That reminds me of how my generation three heiress came to be: her mother met and romanced a co-worker, and when the option for woohoo/try for baby came up on the romantic menu I had them try for baby. A few rustled sheets and some chimes later, her partner rolled out of bed and was greeted by the Grim Reaper. It worked out nicely for the story of them - I had her become a work-driven single parent, and the resulting child rolled both the insane and neurotic traits, as well as the lifetime wish to be a robot/creature cross-breeder.
That didn't work out so nicely for me. I was in the process of getting my second generation sim in the mood to woohoo her chosen mate (the one I picked out for her), who happened to have aged into an elder the day previous. She was putting on the moves, me spamming flirt, kiss, etc. until woohoo appeared, only to hear, after I turned away for a brief moment, the chimes of death. My sim's soon-to-be-babby-daddy kicked the bucket right there. Though I was amused I couldn't say I was too pleased about that.

Warning: if you are offensive to nipples, please look away, for nipples are watching! Think of the nipples! First, a little freak-out that had me giggling. Here is my sim teaching her toddler to walk. I had thought her legs looked a little funny from a far and zoomed up to take a look. Imagine my pleasure when I saw this. I have HP's default replacements and while I understood that the skins would look funky under certain lighting... yeah. The skin's just like that in the dark, though. I personally think the criminal career building is the best out of all of them. I never really made use of that career in TS2, but I'm really enjoying it now. That and the bell peppers I have my sim harvest after every shift. Speaking of criminals, the Cat Burglar outfit is very Sith-like. I like it. Here, my teen was chatting up a townie on the sidewalk right in front of her house. Apparently that was far enough to have the fuzz pull up to "bust" her for being out past curfew. Guh. Last, but not least, the nipples! And the creature they're attached to. "Wow" was the main thought going through my head when I came upon this townie. Just wow.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Is Something Borked? No "Change Appearance" Option on Mirrors
|
on: 2009 June 08, 16:34:53

I've also noticed that pregnant sims can't change appearance? Once they've spun into the maternity clothing (ugh, those tracksuits) their hair changes to that ponytail with the clip? I've only had two pregnant sims, but as I like changing their hair every other day I noticed this little "feature" rather quickly. Edit: Ninja'd by Ciane. I also didn't have the option to change appearance with a pregnant sim. She was wearing the everyday pregnancy sweats and the option to change appearance was not available in her mirror. (I had wanted to change the pink sweat pants and orange tshirt colors to a non-clashing combination.)
Interestingly, she got a different sweatsuit for the second pregnancy in a black and white color scheme that matches her normal everyday colors. Are the color options of the sweats randomly generated or are they based on skintones as some of the outfits were in the earlier Sims? I am curious if they will continue to repeat earlier color schemes in future pregnancies and if there is a way change the pregnancy sweats or sleepwear to another option. As yet, I haven't figured out how to change them into a second or third outfit option.

Not sure why you're having so much trouble killing an NPC, the only one I tried to kill was the papergirl because she always kicked my flamingos. Unfortunately she just teleported out of the prison room I made for her. As for the opportunity, you can just go to the graveyard and pick up one of the tombstones. Just remember, whoever you pick will become a playable ghost living in your house.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm just balking at the thought of playable ghosts, though. Argh, Eaxis! *shakesfist*

|
on: 2009 June 08, 01:39:23

I believe this is as good a place as any to ask this question, especially since it does pertain to the death of a sim, specifically, a townie. My sim received the opportunity to deliver the remains of a "beloved" to the science lab to have it analyzed, and while she was the first generation and didn't have any tombs or remains of a beloved on lot, I didn't think it was a problem. The next day I have my sim call up one of her lovers and I promptly locked the townie in a doorless room and intended of have her starve to death. A full sim week later, she's still alive. I had chosen starvation because I wouldn't be able to have the townie be electrocuted, drowned or set on fire as I'm sure I had read that once a townie was "selected" than you can't unselect it? Anyways, so I thought starvation would do the trick, but as I said, it didn't.
I just couldn't get this sim to die, so I expanded her box and put in a fireplace, some rugs and flammable side tables. Every thing catches fire quite nicely, but the fire doesn't seem to get an bigger than say, 5 by 5 tiles. The fire would move to burn other pieces of furniture, but never spread and simply get bigger. Even with moveobjects on I filled the entire box with tables thinking that the townie wouldn't be able to move around and thusly escape the fire, well I was wrong. The townie would shriek and dance and pee herself, but managed to evade being caught of fire every single time. The rugs caught fire at least five times, and even after another sim week, the townie is still alive. I never had this much trouble killing off sims in TS2. I figured that perhaps the townie had food in her pockets and was eating that? Sometimes she would get the "OMG FEED ME NAO!" bubble over her head, but has yet to kick the bucket. What the hell is going on?
I also want to mention an annoyance with fire. As soon as a fire starts, all sims on the lot drop whatever they're doing to stand around and worry their pixally little hearts out, never mind that it's not even in the same building. I can't cancel out the "FIRE!" action and tell them to go back to sleep, or use the toilet, or anything. After the fifth fire this was starting to become very annoying.

The NeverWinterNights manual is epic. Heck, the manual that came with Ultima IV had maps and was huge.
The game manuals that come with the Guild Wars campaigns are beautiful things. Fully coloured, more information than you can shake a stick at, gorgeous artwork... I was simply floored when I looked through mine for the first time and immediately compared it to the pathetic little pamphlet that EA offers.

Works brilliantly for me. A problem, though, that probably has to do with Eaxis' "brilliant" design is that when pregnant sims bathe, they no longer have a baby bump. My sim was heavily pregnant, but I noticed as she was was getting out of the bath that her belly was babby-free. Also in regards to pregnancy; can pregnant sims not woohoo? I was trying to get my sim to woohoo with her boyfriend, but for the life of me I couldn't get the option to appear. Their status was at irresistible and both were pretty green. A third annoyance. My sim drove herself to the hospital on her bicycle. That was a wtf moment for me. Also - damn, babies are ugly/creepy! The blanket/baby bundle looks pretty crappy and worse than the baby in TS2!

This happens to a handful of the other window coverings as well - for this window, at least. In any case, one window is too many. Interesting. Mine shows no bleedthrough. Actually the only weird "bleedthrough" I'm seeing is the same warped water reflection that others are reporting. God, does it look strange when my sim walks by water. I can't believe they didn't fix that...oh wait. Hmm, that is puzzling. I haven't noticed any graphics issues besides the window coverings, but it was too much as to ask for a well-working game, I suppose.

So, about those windows. I went back into the game and found that Eaxis, indeed, doesn't playtest their games at all.The window coverings bleed through the window on both sides, not just the inside frame. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/LadyDea/Screenshot-9.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v255/LadyDea/Screenshot-10.jpgThis happens to a handful of the other window coverings as well - for this window, at least. In any case, one window is too many. I started a new "neighbourhood" and have been playing with only one sim. Even in TS2 I find it much easier to play with one sim or two sims. What I'm wondering, though, what is the max number of sims in one household? Is it still eight? Something I found amusing: I heard a gasp and some bubbling only to find my sims with her head under water. I thought for a moment she was drowning herself, but no, she had just dunked her head under water.
