The patch has been cracked, but there's a lot of reports that the patch is causing more problems than the original game version. Gus is just saying he uninstalled the game and reinstalled it without patching it.
Thanks I was slightly confused. So I suppose I'll have to wait until my game is 'fixed'. More than likely by mods than by an actual patch.

I'm... pretty certain the App I use is not patched... or would that even be what the patch came on? I do know I have not actively sought the patch because of the *uckuROM... I thought it hadn't been cracked but perhaps it has been and I missed the memo?
@Gus are you talking about arr'd games? If you aren't than are you talking about App's? (or neither?).

Has anyone else had a problem when they try to start a game/planet in Cell stage and the game either a) crashes or b) your creature doesn't show up as well as every other decoration in the primordial slime pool?
I'm getting sick of trying to start from the beginning only to have a major glitch/crash. Is there any reason I wouldn't be able to start a game in the cell stage? Am I missing some vital part or piece of information?
Should I mention what I have? Eh, whatever. I have some of the (very few) mods out there, specifically: betterplanetbazaar, spaceisfunhack, and 42. I stuck them in my installation directory under Data because that was the only place they seemed to go...

Yes, I meant Real Time but not in the literal '5 minutes' but more of an approximation. Usually I have Sim1 serve dinner and then, afterwards, go off to talk with SimSpawn1. After around... two minutes of real time play they are yellow hunger, yellow comfort, and yellow fun.... It sounds like your skill at this game is epically fail! Get Macrotastics. Install it and its accessories. Then slap on "Power Idle" and watch and learn. That is how a PROFESSIONAL EXPERT handles motives. Yeeeah.. I do have it installed but didn't know what Power Idle was for. Now that I've learned my lesson I shall go use and perhaps I'll become a little more awesome at playing Sims2...

Space also pollinates with Civ-dressed creatures at Space level, so that does still 'work' for adding new races to encounter.
So I would have to make/download Civ. creatures to get new Space races? I thought it was odd that all of the Civ. creatures were my own race or is that normal? *has not played enough to check* [edit: fixed 1am brain fart]

Well, just got Spore and haz been playing. My first creature was killah! The entire way through until the space stage (haven't played it enough). But here is the Klaymore: (Creature) (Tribal) (and Civilization.... would this also count as Space because nothing changed for their dress between the Civ. and Space stages?) My other creature (halfway through the Creature stage) is available here: http://s424.photobucket.com/albums/pp328/BarkingPup49/Spore/. The entire album is sadly empty because I have been unable to create a third game without glitches and crashes littering the landscape. Also available -if you reeeally want them- are the Cell stages of both creatures.

Well 5 minutes Real Time (I assume that's what you mean?) is about 5 HOURS Sim Time. I get pretty hungry 5 hours after lunch too.

I find that the Sims can get really boring if all of your sims are beautiful and if you insist on controlling every little movement they make. I tend to marry my sims off to other sims that they have a minimum of two bolts for. I avoid cheating extensively (although with AL the needs degeneration is ridiculous so I've relaxed those rules a bit) and enjoy letting the pixels destroy themselves without any intervention from me. Why do people keep imagining things like this? There is NO change to motive decay in AL. People have been saying this about EVERY expansion pack, and it's NEVER TRUE. Wut? Ya mean it ain't mah game 'tis mah 'magination? I thought it was kind of funny that five minutes RT after eating they would be yellow.... perhaps Maxmotives is teh fail and I've been playin' wit it fer too long...

What is your problem? Yes, that isn't exactly an Nvidia 9800GTX, but it should handle the game perfectly fine. I had an even lower end card and my game ran very smoothly, just not with all the settings on high. EmilyTwitch, try getting the newest drivers from intel. Windows update doesn't usually have the latest video drivers. This should be what you need.Yeah, I know it should handle at lowest graphics with lag here and there but, really, upgrades aren't that hard (unless you have a laptop). A better graphics card would help... a lot. I, too, have a lower end card but it's definitely not as low as that one. The more stress you put on a card the more likely it is to fry. Depending on whether or not the computer is properly cooled and/or overclocked it could also take out surrounding components. By playing a game with the higher graphics (even on low) this person is putting extreme stress on such a low card.

I've updated everything, drivers and all. Sorry forgot to include the card and such (can't believe that slipped my mind). I don't know exactly what information I need to include about my computer, so I'll post everything. BTW, I am well aware that Vista sucks. They won't sell new laptops without it, and I can't afford to pay them to "down"grade it back to XP. Such is life. Sorry this image is kind of giant... <snip>
Ahahaha! Your problem is your graphics card aka it sucks ass. How do you fix it? Get a new one. If you have a laptop you must buy a new one.

Hehe, yes- I checked the CEP site and Numenor says that the rocks were causing issues for people without BV. Well done for sorting it out! Don't forget that MTS2 has a Google search too, which I sometimes find more useful. Ah, well, then that explains it! The only bad thing that has happened to me when I decided not to install BV! It was purely trial and error on my part. With the home wireless freaking out it was more a situation of 'waaaah, can't get on mah internets to Google teh problem!' So I went the looooong way. Oooh, I forgot about that Google Search. Usually I use that 'filter downloads' thing but I believe from now on a Google search is for me.

Well, take them out and test the game to see if it still crashes. There was an issue with the rocks, but I thought it was for pre BV games. You'd need to read the CEP thread on MTS2 for details.
Woot! I systematically took out, ran, and put in the CEP packages and it turns out it was the garden rocks. I'm not running BV (the only one besides some stuff packs) could that be the reason? Or maybe it was borked in AL.... but anyhow I took it out and now the sims is running A-OK. Ha, finding anything on MTS2 is nigh impossible. Baaaaa, for your help

Check your zCEP_Extra folder in Documents/ EA Games/ The Sims 2. There may be something in there causing issues.
Oookay, not sure what I'm looking for but I found these things that may be causing it: Garden_Rocks (Can't remember where they are. Could have sworn they were in terrain but who knows. As I said: me no use deco) Atomic_Age_Lamps (In lighting? Or maybe they're merely decorative) Club_Table_Lamp (Erm, see above) Fat_City_Counter (Have no clue what the hell this is. Supposebly it's a counter? Like, food counter? More than likely it is and I'm being really stupid) Am I looking for some special package specifically in the decorations or a package in general? What do I do if it's crashing my game? Do I open it in SimpE? Very N00by questions, I know, but then again in the land of the Sims I tread with boots of n00bles instead of awesome Maty boots.

I don't know if this was mentioned in the AL bork thread (23 pages? Oh hell no!) and if it is feel free to point and laugh (and post a link of the page).
So I moved this family into a house and figured -now that I have fanceh RAM- to put up some decorations. I have no idea if this was prevelant before AL (I don't use deco that much) but I clicked on the Misc. Decorations and the third menu thing crashes the game. It doesn't even go into the third menu; the music will skip, restart and the dialogue box 'this application has crashed. This application will now terminate' comes up.
So I despaired of my lost build mode wonders and ran a vanilla game but it still crashes. I don't understand it! To my knowledge (and I've checked three times) I have all updated hacks. The only thing I really did differently was replace the Userdata and Neighborhood folder packages with 'clean' ones. BUT the crashes were happening before that as well.
If people want an error log... erm, I have no idea how to locate them in Vista and have no idea if Vista would even keep track of game crashes... Ah yes: I have Sims2, NL, OFB, Uni, FT, AL, Pets, Seasons Celebration!, Glamour, Teen style, Family Fun and run everything off of No-cd patches. My laptop is, unfortunately, running Windoze Vista Home Premium with four new GB's of RAM and a crappy 1.6 Ghz processor with the shitty 256mb ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 video card.

Well, I too use CAS replacement faces and cleaned hoods (specifically these http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=106077 faces which are basically the Maxis ones with minute changes to the templates so they look more realistic) but I don't breed for pretty sims nor do I control their every movement (Well, it helps that I have Pescado's hacks like that baby controller and bathroom controller). I roll a die (similar to the Legacy rules) for aspiration and keep the turn on's and turn off's the game chooses. Or I use these: http://sumomo.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=293685. When a sims becomes an elder (or the couple both become elders) I save and exit than never play them again. This results in a huge family and they're always coming and going, fighting and hugging, etcetera. I find the way I play to generate very interesting looking sims and sometimes result in fighting or premature death. It's fun and I recommend it to everyone.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Non-working SecuROM Uninstaller?

Why do I suspect that the SecuROM uninstall would either break stuff or do nothing at all? Also, who gives out an uninstalled to copy protection? Sony FTL.
I haven't seen anything screwy since I used it (nothing changed either though). I would put SecuROM back onto my laptop and find the folder than see if it's gone but I'm not willing to risk that. SecuROM did nothing to my computer before but I remember when I installed the crappy Freetime patch my game went really wonky until I used the SecuROM uninstall (or maybe that was the no-cd/Fixed Exe?). Nonetheless I believe it is worth a try. P.S I just remembered the place where I found it had e-mailed the SecuROM people asking how to get rid of it. They sent h/er/im the uninstaller with a whole spiel about uninstalling and how it could be bad etcetera, etcetera. I don't know if that means it's good or not....

Yes, you are free, at least from SecuRom. Congraturation. Neat! Freedom I was wondering why MATY doesn't have this as a 'getting rid of SuckuROM' thingy... it doesn't even have a mention and every time I type in 'SecuROM Uninstall' into Google I end up with the exact same instructions I posted. Hmmm... I should find out the link of where I downloaded it from because it had the uninstaller right there in a .zip file. Does this uninstaller not work for everyone or something? Am I asking stupid, unintelligent questions and unaware of it? EDIT: Found this link: http://www.securom.com/support/SecuROM_Uninstaller.zipfrom here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=926714&topic=43672177Copy and paste into browser and the dialogue for downloading it comes up. I tried downloading is into the same folder as the first uninstaller and it asked if I wanted replace them. Suggesting they are both the same file... or just the same name. I'll download it into a different folder and try to run it just to check... It is! Or, it seems to work the same. Should I post instructions on how to use it properly? (as there is more to it than what I posted above).

I can not attest to how effective the search is on the registry. Just do it manually; it's easy enough to do.
Well, I searched and couldn't find anything that blatantly said it was SecuROM. I saw secdrv and sffdsk (Do not quote me on that spelling) but other than peaking my interest it didn't appear to be SecuROM. Does this mean it actually worked? That I'm free?

In order to figure out if you have SecuRom, click Start/Run...(or press the windows key and r) and start the program regedit. Go to the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE and look for a folder called SecuRom. If it's there, well, balls, try harder. If it's not, yay; you win!
Well I opened the regedit and searched for SecuROM (Using the 'find'... is that what you meant?) and it only found my SecuROM uninstaller file... nothing else. So... I don't have SecuROM?

I'm new so perhaps this is a really n00b question but I've searched MATY and nothing mentions this. Searching Google gives me the exact same instructions I recieved/found. Mainly, I'm wondering if this is a completely useless SecuROM Uninstaller.
1) Basically (and because I have no idea how to upload the actual uninstaller to the forum) it says to download the SecuROM Uninstaller. 2) Unzip the files into the C drive 3) (here is where they differ for Vista and XP. I have Vista so I'll just put up the Vista instructions) Go to the Start menu and go to Accessories. Click on 'Run' and type cmd when it comes up. 4) Type cd C:\ 5) Type SecuROM_Uninstaller/fulluninstall and press ENTER. 6) It runs the SecuROM Uninstaller tool which, according to the dialogue box that comes up, fully uninstalls it from your computer. According to the place I found it in all of the files are gone but I have no idea how to check.
Has anyone heard if this works or not? I'm afraid it didn't and I still have SecuROM on my laptop (Oh yeah, I do run No CD/Fixed EXE currently for Apartment Life). I never had any problems that I noticed with SecuROM so I can't compare my computer's performance to anything....
