1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FT - Hunt Bugs on: 2008 April 02, 00:46:44
I installed it in my USian game, it works. Caught the last butterfly in only three hours. The bug box does nothing with a full set of bugs.

Thanks for the help everyone. Smiley I'm guessing that because the pet is second gen he just isn't affected by the hack. Ah well.

For now I have the wolves' graves on a foundation sans stairs to see if that at least keeps them off the grounds. The trouble live wolf is relegated to being kept outside where he happily chases the mail man and drives off troublesome strays. His mate and pups are being kept inside and I have a clean bot on duty to take care of wolf puddles. I'll at least have the illusion of family unity even if I can't have it in actuality. Thanks again!
3  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Pet Warfare & Ghosts on: 2008 March 23, 19:47:00
Send the tombstones to a graveyeard?  Oh, and the live wolf that won't stop chasing his mate might be a very aggressive, playful pet.  What's his personality?

Against the rules of the challenge. Sad The live wolf has the same personality as all wolves do and the same personality as his mate and his parents but he is the only one that is psychotic about it. I'm guessing 'cause he's second gen.

Is chasing harmful? My dogs chase each other all the time. One of them is really stupid, however, and tends to forget what he was chasing and ends up chasing something else, like a couch.

It gives a double negative relationship hit every time. If I let them go at it they will do it again and again and again and become enemies and eventually force each other to run away. Next to Chase Challenge! and the occasional Growl pale in comparison. Sad I've noticed that the dog's Play interaction often looks like Chase (they do literaly chase each other with that interaction sometimes) except there's more tale wagging and jumping about where as with the other it's just growls.
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Pet Warfare & Ghosts on: 2008 March 22, 01:10:07
I imagine my own stupidity is somehow implicit in this. I have installed lesspetwarfare and everything seemed to be well. As long as my wolves considered each other pack then they left each other well enough alone and calmly sniffed and played instead of rabidly chasing each other around the lot and causing each other to run away at the least provocation. Then I installed FreeTime. Now I have two wolves who are at 100/82 and 100/85 respectively (raised via supervised & directed playtime and keeping them separated while life rel raised) and the wolf born into the family still chases his mate (the mother of his pups) like a wolf deranged. I have the most recent copy of lesspetwarfare for FT as of March 19th. I have no other hacks that affect pets or hacked objects that affect pets save for Simlogical's Dog Bath.

Oh, and it's not just his mate he chases. He has queued up to chase the ghost of his dead mother on several occasions. The mother proceeded to stop her random drifting and turn to attempt to allow herself to be chased! Thankfully she was half way into a foundation at the time so my wolf just barked that something was in his way both times and went about his business.

Another thing about my wolves, their ghosts haunt day and night. They never, ever stop haunting. Also Prima Guide, being the liar that it is, says that animal ghosts can't scare humans. That is patently untrue, my wolf ghosts scare my Sims and cause them to wet themselves all the time and since they haunt at all times this occurs day and night with no reprieve. Angry Any idea how to make them stop haunting during the day?

My husband can't add custom outfits to the wardrobe in his game. The option isn't there for him, but it is there for me. Which is strange, we both have vanilla games and identical EP/SP set ups.
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 06, 16:02:57
My hubby and I both installed Free Time, he on his laptop, me on my computer. We both played with the Sewing Machine and got our Sims up to a Gold Badge, after a season and two days of maxmotives and nonstop work. Now we can make custom outfits! His can only be sold, mine can be sold or added to the wardrobe. We both have vanilla installs. WTF?
7  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2007 October 14, 04:24:16
Thanks for the info, I like knowing what stuff means and how it's supposed to work.

I went ahead and played to the birth after doing the randomizer and saving, even though it did not boot me out to the neighborhood, and the kid that was born was a clone of its older brother (who was the first born in a game session just like this one is) so I exited without saving. I know I can do things the long way with the CAS die method I just really like this way of doing things more, and would like to get it working again.

I tried doing a more thorough search of the forum with a couple different search terms and didn't come up with anything.
8  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2007 October 14, 02:10:23
Um, yea, the different numbers are RANDOM numbers -- kinda the point of a randomizer. Smiley

Ah, cool. I always wondered what that was. Smiley
9  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2007 October 13, 22:45:54
For some reason the Random Sim Generator has stopped working for me. I set it to go and it pops up and asks me if I'm sure, I say ok and then it lets me know that it fixes things, I say ok again and then nothing happens, the game just keeps playing like normal. It doesn't freeze for any length of time and doesn't boot me out to the neighborhood. I'm playing with all EPs/SPs save for BV and with the most up to date Seasons version of the Debugger.

ETA: I tried letting it fix things and hitting save and telling it to do it again and it just says it fixes a different amount every time and still does nothing. First time 18, then 27, now 24. Probably unlrelated but I figured it was worth a shot.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Quick question on lot transplants. on: 2007 October 06, 01:36:25
As J.M.Pescado said to use the Neighborhood lotcatalog backup, isn't it just simply a matter of finding out the lotfilenumber in the neighborhood lotcatalog- copy that to the Sims2/Lotcatalog and rename it to cx_00000001 or whatever the next number in the catalog is?
Wouldn't that give you a clean fully furnished lot without the families in the lot bin, or will that leave any junk data?

I thought of that too, I tried it and it didn't work for some reason. I'm vaguely remembering being able to track down the proper lot, copying and renaming the file and putting it in the proper place and then having it not show up. This was nearly a year ago now though, something else may have gone wrong instead, but I think the problem was it just didn't show up for me.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Quick question on lot transplants. on: 2007 September 25, 13:13:16
I do the later. Back up the Lot folder. Go in and move out the family, enter and save, quit, then replace the Lot folder with my back-up and let it overwrite everything.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Quick question on lot transplants. on: 2007 September 24, 19:25:45
The problem I had during Seasons (post patch3, I can't speak for unpatched) was that as soon as I moved out the family, all furnishings disappeared.

I thought this was standard behavior, and the only way to avoid it was to place an Ingeological 'Stay things' shrub on the lot, prior to the move-out.

But some comments here leave the impression that there's a way to make it so sans-hacks, is that true?

That is standard behavior, but if you have a backup of the lot file from when it was furnished, and you enter and save the lot after the family has moved out and quit, then you can replace the lot file and it will be a fully furnished empty house. Pescado posted about this elsewhere because he said Ingeological's shrub left junk data, particularly on the refrigerator and such, and that this was a better way. I've done it in a fully patched all EPs and SPs through Seasons game and it works I swear it.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Quick question on lot transplants. on: 2007 September 24, 16:17:29
The way I saw Pescado recommend once and that I used to share lots sans families with custom paintings, photographs, and photobooth pictures is this:

1) Back up the neighborhood's Lot folder.
2) Move out family.
3) Enter lot and save. Then quit.
4) Replace Lot folder in Neighborhood folder with back up.
5) Have empty fully furnished house safe to be packaged and/or moved as the family is in the bin.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nearly 5 Million Simolineons Disappeared on: 2007 June 04, 01:39:08
I'm sorry I'm afraid I'm not being clear, blame it on the lack of caffeine. Tongue

The networth that you see from the neighborhood is what is reading the four million number when before it was reading nine million. I don't bother paying attention to my family funds past first generation usually because it doesn't count as far as legacy points are concerned.

The thing is I wasn't paying attention to even the networth of my family and didn't notice the loss until two weeks after I started playing with all the eps and sps installed when I went to update my score. I figured it was some sort of quirk with having a really old lot played on a really old ep for so long that didn't gel with the new coding. But, I'm not awesome and have no clue if I'm even in the right ball park with that guess. Undecided
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nearly 5 Million Simolineons Disappeared on: 2007 June 03, 19:51:01
Is there any way I can view what my family's true networth is then?
16  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Nearly 5 Million Simolineons Disappeared on: 2007 June 01, 16:10:49
I've been playing a legacy household with just the base game and university for about a year. I got all the expansion packs and stuff packs and installed them (after backing up and what not) a month ago. (So that would be everything but Celebration at the time.) After some playtesting and it looking like nothing had broken I just started intensively playing my legacy family.

About two weeks later I realized that my family net worth was all wrong. I originally had a networth of 9,152,374 at the point where I backed up, but now I had only 4,270,630 and I hadn't spent any money beyond purchasing new clothing and groceries (and bills, maid, gardener, etc). And, no I didn't just read the number wrong, I have a screenshot here of when I was at the 7mil mark in the coffers alone.

So, at this point I'm not going to go to the back up to fix things, I've just counted the missing money in my score and moved on (old legacy rules). The thing is I'm now at 5mil again and its not going to be long before I hit that 9mil mark. Is there a limit to how much money I can have in the networth or in the family funds? If so what is it and if I hit it again will it just take away a bunch of money again or am I doing something dangerous and potentially game breaking by having all this money? Any ideas on why the money disappeared if it's not that?

ETA: Thought to add that during all this I was playing hack free.

[Bitsy's Husband]

Thanks for that!  I got the SD4hider program and my image works perfectly!  I may check out game jackal as I don't particularly like having to launch two applications to use/mount the image, but at least things are working for now.

[Bitsy's Husband]

I'm trying to make a disk image of the Sims 2 Pets CD as my drive is failing, but I'm not able to get a working image - has anyone successfully done this?  I'm using the latest version of CloneCD that has worked for all of the previous disks, but when I load up the image using Deamon Tools the pets splash screen loads up and asks me to insert the disk.  An sigguestions?

Thanks in Advnace

Would using SimPE to make it so the parents aren't in love with anyone other than each other fix this? Or is it a memory that needs to be deleted?
20  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Game's crashin' on: 2006 April 17, 03:02:33
Another problem could be that your video card is loose. If it has slid back out of the pci or agp slot a bit then the connection could be sporadic leading to your monitor shutting off and your system rebooting. I would suggest taking off your case and dusting in there (by means of a set of strong lungs or by using a can of air) and pushing your video card and any other add-on devices in and making sure they are secure.

As far as checking for viruses and what not, as long as you do a full system scan with your new virus software it should catch any that you might have gotten during the down time. I would also scan with both adaware and spybot as they each tend to catch things the other might have missed as far as spyware is concerned.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Obsessive Performing on: 2006 April 15, 20:40:09
How wonderful you know our country so well.

Yep.  Grin

First they required a license in order to perform, which I could still see as being ok, I guess, city property and all that. Banning it altogether smacks of being un-constiutional. I'm just waiting for the weather to take a turn for the better, someone will challenge it then.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Obsessive Performing on: 2006 April 15, 18:43:44
Panhandling does mean begging. They just are trying to fool people into thinking performing on the streets for money equates to begging on the streets for money so they can outlaw it. Otherwise they would be infringing on the people's right to free speech, and America would never do that, right?
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Obsessive Performing on: 2006 April 15, 17:57:43
In America they are more commonly called street performers. In chicago though we sometimes call them panhandlers and have outlawed them on most main thoroughfares. I kind of miss the music, sometimes. Too many people were complaining about it though.

P.S. If you want to go ahead and tell me what buskers means then that would save me some time! :-)
