I just discovered this today. My sim picked up the phone and then put it down again without calling. I usually get them to use their cellphones, but the cells have been disappearing every time the phone rings. My Sims are successfully able to call out, but I am experiencing the cell-phone-goes-poof-when-answering bug too. So far as I can tell, it's probably because of the extra phone features added in AL that they never translated to the Uni cell phone, but just a guess. Pretty annoying either way.

Others have mentioned this, but I'm going to do it again.
I tested this in a no-mod game so I know it's not a conflict. Though running the game with the phonehack doesn't solve the issue.
When the phone rings and a Sim attempts to answer on their cell phone, the cell phone immediately disappears from the inventory. Answering on the landline phone appears to work fine and calling out on both the cell phone and landline yields no issues. Only answering on the cell phone.
I'm attaching a forced error log of the cell phone just because that's all I have. I don't know if it'll do any good.

If your turn on the testing cheats, do any error messages pop up when you have the Sim eat? That would probably indicate a hack conflict or other abnormality.
Do you have any hacks that modify food?
Try taking out nouniprotect if you think that may be the issue and see if it helps.

OK, I understand that....but if I don't have Pets but want to install the Pets Patch in conjunction with Seasons because I feel I need to collect all the Maxian patches, will I need both the Pets patch and the Seasons patch?

I'm trying to figure out why they need a 45.5MB exe to fix 3 things. That is about the size of EP2 and EP3 patches combined I didn't even check that (I'm at work, and so I'm not too interested in the patch right now). It could have been interesting to ask goonter that when he was around (ETA: he's around now)...especially when he said that the individual patches only fix the respective EPs and are not cumulitive.

Hmmm thats all it will fix ? Complete list of changes: Custom objects will now be preserved when uploading Lots to the Exchange. Musician Career Track career reward (Rock Hammer) now has audio functioning correctly. Sim Babies no longer cry excessively. That's what I'm saying. Not so much a patch but a stitch, or something of lesser sewing terms. * LK high fives Twain

If you copied everything in lieu of a fresh install, the Sims that don't currently exist would still be in non-existance when you put everything back.
The plus side to not having extra useless Sims around is that you're in no danger of experiencing a fiery ball from space anytime soon.
You could use the testing cheats to force the creation of NPCs via the mailbox, but that would probably only generate service NPCs; I'm not quite sure. But, hey, it's your game.
You could also check the N001 character files in Program Files (or wherever you installed) to see if the characters exist there.

Hope it doesn't break anything that wasn't already broken in Pets.
You're kidding, right? I'm certainly not buying this. Half the crap was available for download on the official site for FREE. Maxis will pry the money out of my cold, decaying hands. Which may be how they prefer it.

It's gotta be the driver. I have the same card and it works fine--and I haven't updated since I don't know when.
Don't know what to tell you other than: Save the downloaded drivers to a special folder so if you need to roll back (you say it's tough to do this time around) you'll have previous ones you can install after uninstalling the newest one.

Errrr....AncientSim, I don't think that's a back rub..... And not only is the Sim in the original photo in this thread triple jointed, but she's apparently telekinetic, too.

Makes sense, all right. As for new animation, I don't know. A sit animation already exists, but it would be a matter of telling the game to have the Sim do it while talking. Don't know if that's possible--but El Presidente does, presumably.

Is there any way with Photoshop to make the skin color of one texture match another? And is there any way to cut and paste bits of one into the other and make them blend in, so it doesn't look like it was cut and pasted. ?
Yes and yes. The complexity (detail) of the skin would determine how hard it is to do what you ask, but, yeah, that's all possible.
