TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How much is too much

Hmm, I feel a little greedy now... my download folder (encompassing bodyshop items, objects, hacks, careers, and walls/floors) currently totals 11 GB. I need a 12-step program. Honestly though, I'm happy with how my game plays (approx. 15 minute load time, another 2-3 minutes to get into the neighborhood, then it's smooth sailing from there) so I figure I won't worry about it. If it blows up in the proverbial visible-from-space fireball... well, I had a lot of fun getting it there. On another note, what does checking the recursive box in SimPe's scan folders do exactly? ~KG
Too bad, there is www.civanon.org but no www.sims2anon.org.

MMORPGs are addicting, though I can't say it's fun. It's all about power, since your character can become more and more powerful as the game progresses. You could say money also. At a certain point you just can't handle anymore, and like I did, throw everything you worked so hard on to the ground, causing a short period in which people stop talking and loot. MMORPGs are the curse of the gaming world.

I would go for starcraft over B&W1 anyday. Now Starcraft made it clear that it isn't realistic, and then stuck with it. B&W is fake in it's 3D ugliness, IMO. (Just like AoEIII - now let's be historical and zweihanders in the 1800's! )

Probably mad because she was making out with someone he didn't have a friendly relationship with.
Oh it was an adult-teen relationship, but the thing was that the stranger was a nephew.(?) At least family should have some leeway.

Maybe this is a similar coding to the furious state - quite a lot of my sims have started getting -30/-30's to a complete stranger for befriending enemies. In this case it makes no sense...

Does it have to have one? This is a game. Not all objects/concepts translate well to RL situations/behaviors.
Well, it should to a certain extent unless rohina is a giant conspiracy to cause mass confusion. Thanks for the explanations. I'm aware of hookah pipes but thought they were only used with water + tobacco, hence the confusion. Plus, uhh... I'm not supposed to know about such things.

Hmm forgive me for my bottomless stupidity(TM, 1945) but what exactly is the function of the bubble blower in RL? (Yes, I know it's an object in Sims 2...)

I wonder if what we're seeing here is the power of the media and journalism? We live in an century were news is the norm and everyone has instant access to it (well, in the developed nations). That news is edited to within an inch of its life, so who knows what we're really seeing or hearing. Could be anything they bloody well want to feed to us! Or is my paranoia showing? note that the major "news" source cited is the washington times. that newspaper is owned by and operates in accordance with the philosophy of the reverend sun myung moon, who claims to be more awesome than pescado claims to be. well, actually, moon claims to be the messiah, and to have saved the souls of hitler and stalin, so i guess that would trump even some pretty good programming skills. Ha! The thing is there are many more Korean-Christian sects like that out there, it's just that they don't go international. At least Moon doesn't go around beating the living daylights out of people in subway stations because they didn't listen to him preach.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom Content Clothing, Hair & Makeup Not Showing Up

I had a similar problem with clothing hair and makeup in my game - everything was enabled, it was in the right places... everything else showed up and worked, but not this!
Moving it from downloads to savedsims helped.
Before I tried moving it to savedsims, I contacted EA's tech support - took 3 days, but they did eventually get back to me with the solution "rename the downloads folder to Downloads" - make sure it has a capital D... I'm yet to try this, but it sounds like you're having the same problem I did.
Ness
That capital D "thingy" is utterly rubbish. It doesn't change anything - though savedsims does.

Hasta luego Ivy Copur! I got to messing with this NPC & Townie Maker and after a bit of time successfully killed off all of my townies (except the kids - for some reason, they wouldn't die), and generated all new faces. It was kind of painful to watch cause once you clicked the "Kill All Townies" button, they started appearing one by one and would die by starvation . The Grim Reaper was working overtime. You have to put them in some kind of enclosure when you do this or else they will walk off the lot. It was a long process - I'd say at least 1 full sim day if not more. It created 30 new regular townies, plus I created 25 new "downtownies". I sent a Sim downtown and the only person on the lot I recognized was Mortimor Goth. That's quite scary - a massacre to say the least.

Hey, whats with the timer thingy on a sims face icon in the friends list? My popularity sim sometimes has a 'friend' in her list and it has a mesh type picture over her face which slowly clears away like the hands on a clock? Am i making sense?? I have a bad headache today. Shouldn't even be on the computer. That would be a contact. Sims get them from good dates. All sims can have contacts. i am geting a little annoyed with the fact that sims seem to get crushes soo much easier now and they seem to flirt automonously more and I've had two cow mascots that have caused my sims to become furious with their boyfriends because the cow mascot flirted. Those bloody cows did that even before the expansion. As for the proper procedure upon encountering one, utter destruction is the only way.

Oh I was just pointing out that if one's to be so utterly obsessed about pork chops, one should adhere to the other commandments of the religion as well. (But then, the person is probably not skilled enough to remove the cowplant, nor eliminate romantic interactions for married people.)

It's telling you how much time you left before a LFBVFS falls on you. If it is a green (or is it blue?) mesh it is a "contact." I haven't interacted with one yet but from what I heard all your interactions with the person get a bonus, as well as the contact being considered as a friend before the timer ends. I got a contact in my game; a friend of a date that went really well.

From a few days back MTS2 has been acting awfully strange. There were NO downloads, when it says that there are # for a given section.
