TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons)

I followed all these instructions to a T, and all went great until I decided to batch create a set of downtownies for my new hood. I ended up with 30, which wasn't bad, but 15 of them were duplicates, I had 5 sets of 3 sims with the same look just different name.
Anyone have any clues as to why this might have happened? It's sure a first for me. As I was creating a new hood I emptied out my downloads folder save for the 3 hacks that were mentioned in the first thread. (The hood was initially completely empty of sims, clean templates yadda yadda).
It doesn't look like any harm has been done, and those 15 sims now are in my latest cemetery- still, be nice to know for future reference.

Apparently it's soooo yesterdays news unless Grimmy turns up to your party. Is that Bill Clinton on the far left? what? you don't have the ex-Presidents in your game? Is it just me? I feel special. ok, so it was one of the Bunch family- hideous premades that are ugly and presidential looking, apparently.

Love the old age death Zazazu, I've had a couple of parties where guests have died of old age, first of whom was Kaylynn Langerak, the next was the McIrish woman, (she lives across the road from the Crumplebottom home, which my 2nd gen sim was living in at the time, seeing how she married Terence Crumplebottom, son of Agnes and .... mystery sim.) Apparently it's soooo yesterdays news unless Grimmy turns up to your party. and if ye be seeking ghosts, come to the graveyard, and about an hour later, ghosts will creep up on and scare each other but not sims- weird. In other news- fireman turns up in park with wrench, even more scary is cocktail-dress-wearing chick in dark park with wrench, random! and finally, when all else fails, hit it with hammer.

Nice pics Zazazu, my sim married that Christopher guy too. Do you know if you can use any bait to catch different fish or does it have to be another fish? I'm up to around 9 of his 13. I like that because he's a natural cook he can 'jazz up' any dish, or whatver terminology they use in game. Are you finding the sprinklers effective? My sims just seem to want to play in them all the time, incessantly. Does anyone know how to use the Death Flower? I have several in my sims inventory but can't figure it out- I assume it's to bring a ghost back to 'life', but I can't find an option. Talking of ghosts, everytime my sim visits the graveyard a ghost runs out and jumps into a car and drives off... infact here they are queuing up, the ghost standing jumped into another car after the first one left- what have they got 'rent-a-ghost' jobs or something? I've seen a ghost child too which is creepy, she doesn't drive yet.

Did happy dance when I saw this, unfortunately it's just a deco item, sigh. We need moar cowplant. Also good that sims can work out regardless of how much crap many items they put infront of a tv, The fact that babies spawn so easily is scary, but on the upside if you just play one household then they all age pretty quickly around you, with no effort required- I don't care if it's not my family but as has been said before, everytime I visit a neighbor there is a baby on the floor. Major annoyance- why is my female toddler dressed in only a pair of cut off pants? I'm not shipwrecked. If I have to put up with the darn thing I at least want it her to look half decent. Seriously she's going to be a toddler for 7 days? DNW! How soon can they be grown up? I noticed when it was her toddler birthday her parents (who at the time had 2 days until aging themselves) could also have grown up. So is 2 days the max? How painful that for every new dish you cook you not only have to buy the recipe book (because in real life all recipes come in a single booklet) but you have to buy the damn ingredients or the option doesn't appear on the fridge. Talking of fridges- why can't you randomly clean them out (ala 'Seasons- stock- remove stock') instead of waiting 'til they emit a steaming pile of green stuff and having your Sim scream about the stench in the room? Ghosts look cool, rofl when one did the 'sneaking' action to attempt to scare another ghost. He jumped out of action before he could do it, otherwise I'm sure it would have been amusing. I like the drag a wall feature, but it only works on straight walls, no angles. duh. Back to boxes. Lots to like, and lots to be bugged by.

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Are B.V maids on strike?
|
on: 2009 March 25, 22:50:31

It appears that hotel maids won't do anything other than make beds. I know they've always been pretty useless but this is ridiculous- my vacationers are paying for a room they have to clean up themselves or gag everytime they walk into a filthy bathroom if they don't.
There's not even a chance to influence the maids to clean, I know I used to be able to do that but now it cancels itself out before a Sim even gets to the maid. I have all EP's and SP's (and all patches) and it's a clean install with no hacks back in yet, and to that point is there one that sorts this out?

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / M&G, some object makes Headmaster jump.
|

I can't (be bothered) to test the exact one, but am pretty sure it's one of the new ceiling fans that's causing a headmaster jump, 'cos once I removed all the fans and re-invited him the scenario was as normal.
I only have awesome stuff, so nya.
What is the point of the fans anyway? are they lights or fans or just deco?
Aph, who has never seen a real person get on their knees to smell flowers like a sim now does. *rolls eyes*

The Charlatan is stalking me. ME - it doesn't matter what sims I take where, he'll show up sooner rather than later. I'm sure that's not supposed to happen - he's everywhere, in every associated neighbourhood of Belladonna Cove too. Please someone tell me it's happening to them too!!! I don't think he's stalking YOU, lol. But yeah, this happened to one of my Sims... I took that Patel guy to a com lot and he got robbed, of course he smacked the Charlatan, but lost the fight, cried and went home. He's just got back to his apartment and the Charlatan showed up, came into his place and stood by his bed. (Patel was asleep at this time). I woke him up and had him smack the Charlatan again- this time he won, the Charlatan left. Not seen him since. *grin*. Aph.

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / school grr, piano pain and spiral stairs.

Is it just me or did we lose the ability to cancel out putting down homework with AL? It's driving me nuts that Sim kids are walking up 3 flights of steps to their apartment just to put their schoolbooks by the desk in their home. Teens just barely put their homework down then have to go to work. Waste of time.
Pretty much all sims who have attempted to play the piano are not even completing one skill before they stop for no plausible reason.
Why can't Sims run up spiral stairs like they can normal staircases? I want them to run, dammit.

The new options on the 'phone- gee, I wonder where they got that idea from? Some of the clothing conversions for elders, but not the 'teen' ones, that's just creepy. The evil witches, they cackle, and they're, um, green. Ooh and they set fire to stuff. Couple of nice options from networking, one being discount on all furniture purchases, win! Going into neighbours apartments and finding them furnished, yup, it's happened and it's pre made. High fives and manly type rough handshake thing. Palace and Fortress. Mysteriously Mysterious Mystery Novel, heh.
Dislikes;
Stoopid routing, main gathering places and sims obsessed once again with kicky bag/pillow fights. 12 gazillion colours of hairband on fugly hair, and what's with that attempt at an awful '80's 'do? ugh, do not want. 20 sims at a com lot trying to greet my sim, breaking all actions he has lined up, to do so. Bit of a jump action if two sims are at the top of the spiral staircase. Sims can't run down a spiral like a normal staircase. The fact that none of the premade apartments have mirrored closets, and you can't change them without an enormous (ok, a small) effort. Once again the new windows can't have any other curtain put on them (without a cheat) other than that awful Seasons thing that sticks out a mile. Roomates, they are stupid, they suck, they don't go to work even if they have a job and they don't sleep in the bed provided for them, they just 'run errands' and then 'gather', or stargaze- what'd happen if a Roomie got abducted? huh? did ya think of that EAXIS?!
Other than that- yup, not bad so far.

Why build it yourself when more awesomeones can do it for you?
Appreciate the input and groovy new 'hoodoms.
oh, and 'really high elevation' worked for my lot - and the basement is only standard size (rolls eyes)- no more Veronaville for moi.

I know the flooding is just an effect, shame that, but how do I get shot of said 'blue' basement effect?
Also, I added the same lot to another hood with no visible water level and I still have the same problem.
I'm thinking bulldoze is my only option.

I spent ages building an awesome spec home then packaged it. I also moved it to the lots and houses bin to duplicate and upon placing it back I now have a flooded basement.
I realised my mistake, I built in stoopid Veronaville, but I can't recall how to unflood the basement, any help appreciated, and also, is the lot permanently borked now?
