I have not tried it as a package.  I did not even know you could install a house as a package (before I posted, I only ran a search for launder problems).  I will look at the package idea but I would still like to know what is up with installing houses as sims3packs.

I have all expansion and stuff packs.  The only "mod" I have is a skill enhancer.  I download a house and click to install it.  The launcher comes up but nothing else.  I get no error.  The launcher just appears to quit working and the house will not install.  I did try with several houses. Again,  I do not get an error or anything.  I did remove my mods and got the same result.   

If anyone else has had this problem and can help, I would appreciate it.

I agree about the 2D feel.  When I was playing it, I felt like Sims 1 met Sims Castaway, had a child and named it Medieval.

Regarding the mixologist not being on duty issue, I don't know if I fixed mine for if it was just dumb luck.  Here is what happened.  The mixologist was indeed stuck in the lobby of the Prosper Room lobby.  I engaged him in conversation for awhile.  I then turned to the other mxologist and did the same thing.  Then I went into Edit Town without saving.  I bulldozed the Prosper Room and replaced it.  When I went back, everything was in its proper place.  I had bulldozed the buildings before in an attempt to fix the problem and it never worked.  It only appeared to work after I engaged the mixologist.  Again, I am not sure if it is a solution or dumb luck.

Has anyone figured out or solved the mixologist not being on duty problem? I know that, apparently, the mixologist is "stuck" downstairs (in Prosper Lounge) by the elevator.  Does anyone how to prevent this problem or solve it?

I not only don't have mixologist, I don't have a bouncer either.  I am there from open to close and neither show up.

I am also having the problem with no mixologist on duty.  I am running base game with all expansion packs and stuff packs.  The bouncers also appear to be absent.  I am going during the bar's operating hours.

I am running WA with no mods on windows vista.  I got the error 16 code when trying to save the game.  I know there is a post from EA stating that we should save our games under a different name until they resolve this problem.  At my husband's suggestion (I know nothing about computers) I right clicked on WA and clicked "run as administrator."  So far, I haven't had the error 16 problem again.

Maybe someone else might want to try this to see if they get the same result.

My hubby is getting me a new laptop.  I don't know a thing about computers and he doesn't play Sims 3.  He is wondering what he should pay more attention to during the purchase, video memory or a faster graphics card for optimum game performance.  I apologize if this is posted in the wrong place.  I was not sure where to post it.  Thank you.

I am playing with all EPs, all stuff packs, and no friends for careers hack, write novels faster hack.  I decided to reinstall Mansions and Gardens.  Before the reinstall, I copied over my Sims 2/Neigborhoods, downloads, paintings, and collections directories.  After the reinstall, I copied my "old" directories and overwrote the newly installed ones.  I lost all my families and the Desiderata neighborhood. The other neighborhoods (Pleasantview, etc. shopping districts, universities, vacations, downtowns) all were fine.  Obviously, I didn't copy something right.  Does anyone know where I went wrong?  Thanks.

I downloaded a lot not realizing it had a custom mailbox.  I found out about it when I placed a Maxis apartment building from the bin and noticed it had a regular mailbox.  I deleted the custom mailbox, but now my apartment building doesn't have a mailbox.  Is there any way I can place an apartment mailbox on the lot (I couldn't find one in build mode).  I am runny all EP, SP and have patched Apartment Life.  Thank you.  V

Thank you everyone for your advice and assistance.  I did the sensible thing when I could not deal with it anymore.  I turned the kid into a teenager.

I do have one more question.  I did a reinstall last week.  Am I correct in assuming that AL would have installed the latest patches?  I did not go back and install any FT or BV patches because I assumed that AL would have had those patches.

I am playing all expansion packs with only the "no friends for career" hack.  I have a single Mom family and she has a job in the gaming career.  I hire a Nanny with the track schedule option.  The Nanny agrees to show up at the proper hour and does not.  When it was time for Mom to go to work and the Nanny didn't show, I tried the hire "just for now optiion."  When the Nanny arrived, Mom got into the car and went to work.  As soon as she left, the Nanny van arrived, picked up the Nanny and left.  Finally, Sociial Services arrives and takes the child.  The Butler was present the entire time.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?
