1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ending Process of The Sims 2 on Task Manager? on: 2012 May 29, 23:20:22
Get down with your bad selves.

I'm pretty sure closing down with Task Manager is done, as evidenced by this very thread.

The point is that no one would think to suggest that being the problem, because it's not a normal thing to do. YOU were the only person who could possibly know you weren't shutting the game down properly. It's like asking why Word isn't prompting you to save your file when you shut down your computer, and neglect to mention that you shut down your computer by holding in the off button.
If it had occurred to me that it was the problem, I would have thought of it, and not needed to make a pondering thread at all.

Hence eliminating this great problem of "vaguery" that plagues the people who pretend to be tech support here but really just want to win Teh Best at High School Debate Teamz in every thread these days.

I'm not one to make neighborhood decorational changes or whatever that needs to be saved on a neighborhood-wide scale, so it just never crossed my mind.

P.S. Is anyone going to help reggiko edit the private school bill amount? Or are we all going to continue sitting here debating who's right and how clever we are on an issue that's been long since resolved by not-anyone-here? Oh.

Gosh, I hope you're not ever wrong about something on The Sims messageboard. It might mean you're not smart.

You two aren't the real tech support here though, are you?
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ending Process of The Sims 2 on Task Manager? on: 2012 May 29, 00:29:34
Well, I've noticed that "vague" is the new buzzword here at MATY ever since hilariously correcting grammar errors became a dead horse.

I mean one has to find something wrong with someone else's post in order to get one's daily feeling of superiority via pedantic pwnage on the internet with intricate knowledge about a role playing video game for 12s. Right?

Pro-tip: J.M. does it right. You guys don't.
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ending Process of The Sims 2 on Task Manager? on: 2012 May 28, 23:23:01
Anyway, at least I found that besides wasting our time, the process saves changes made to the neighborhood (like added decorations) and game options (changes that aren't saved when one uses the save button in-game.)
Right. It took me literal years to figure out why the changes I made to the seasons of the neighborhood never stuck for me. It's because I always end via task manager.

UM, NO DUH?

For once someone has an appropriate avatar. Facepalm indeed.

UM, OKAY?

I once made a thread about it in 1904, and no one for the life of them could figure out why it was happening.

Good to see you're here to save the day by no-duhing-ly knowing all the answers to problems already stated solved though. No, duh.

Well, yeah, but that kind of mirrors real life.
This is why I refuse to spawn in real life, let alone put up with it in a video game.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Sims 2 Vs. The Sims 3 on: 2012 March 04, 03:53:44
I've not played TS3 since it first came out.

Are the babies still obnoxious nightmares from hell?
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting seasons to stick on: 2010 July 17, 22:52:32
I didn't try anything because I always assumed it was normal game behavior. Since they sometimes DO stick, I figured it was just naturally glitchy.

The last time I got it to stick for the main hood was when I added a new sub-hood. I figure it reset something about the whole neighborhood or...I don't know. I'm kind of mad now to find out it's just me.
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Getting seasons to stick on: 2010 July 17, 19:27:21
It seems completely random when the season settings in neighborhood view decide to stick so that I don't have to change them from the default every single time I fire up the game.

I like to play Strangetown in perpetual Summer, and I would like its Downtown and Uni to be in perpetual Summer as well, but it's a pain in the ass to have to manually click them in each neighborhood Every Single Time I Play.

What's the secret?
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Toddler Separates - Can It Be Done? on: 2010 June 17, 01:47:19
The...changing table you change their shitty diapers on? No, they don't already have seperates.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Toddler Separates - Can It Be Done? on: 2010 June 16, 23:52:01
I wouldn't want them to not wear their pj's in the cribs. That would look uncomfortable.

I always just have someone change them into their everyday outfits at the changing table as soon as they take them out of the crib though.

As for outerwear and formals...those I do not get the point of. When the hell are these kids leaving the house?
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Still planing with TS2 anyone ? on: 2010 June 15, 05:49:38
I also played TS3 for only a week or so before going back to my precious.

Haven't kept up with any of the developments or EP news or anything. Are the genetics still subpar? Do the kids still inherit one parent's face or the other? If that's the case, I'll never switch over.

I wish more folks were around for TS2 chit-chat. I always loved lurking The Podium, and Planet K 20X6, and whatnot during TS2's heyday.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Delete townies without using the cheat on: 2010 April 24, 18:11:56
well thank you for your help my son is caught under the bed and it seems you guys frown upon double posts.
lol, what?

He's one! What the hell? You better get him out of there.

This thread feels like Yahoo! Answers.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What qualifies as "boring" gossip? on: 2010 March 07, 08:55:27
Oh. So nothing relative.

Color me disillusioned.

EDIT - However, I suppose I'm the only one this late in the game who wonders how gossip is chosen. I'm not actually late at all. I just never bothered to ask until now.

"Gossip" has been my favorite sim social interaction for SIX YEARS. GOD BLESS.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / What qualifies as "boring" gossip? on: 2010 March 06, 22:03:47
I'm tempted to clear boring gossip with the batbox just so that I might see interesting gossip more often, but I worry that what I consider to be boring and what J.M. considers to be boring are two different things.

I mostly only consider fires, burnt food, and dormies passing out to be boring.

I wish my sims would gossip more about electrocution, affairs, and pants-wetting-at-parties.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Xmas Tree Glitch? on: 2009 December 23, 03:19:19
It's annoying though. The things catch on fire at least once a day. Having to replace the tree every day if I want to see the flashing light effects is kind of a drag.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Xmas Tree Glitch? on: 2009 December 22, 17:49:24
I want to know if it's normal not to be able to turn the tree on ever again after it catches on fire.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No, the wolf is NOT stinky! on: 2009 May 22, 22:17:48
Ah, good to know what causes it at least.

I forgot to mention that moveobjects on/delete does fix the problem...apparently at least until the next time you slack on the washing.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No, the wolf is NOT stinky! on: 2009 May 21, 23:52:40
I've had the 'stuck smelly dog' glitch for a very long time, before AL and not only with wolves. (I don't think the non-pack-leader wolves are any different from dogs anyway.) The smelly just... won't go away. I never did find out how to fix it.
I only have up to Free Time, and I too have suffered from the same glitch. Both of the dogs who suffered from it just so happened to be wolves though.

OT, but when you say you don't think non-pack-leader wolves are any different than regular dogs, I have to wonder if that's completely true. I have a lot with 2 wolves as pets, and they really seem to attract a lot of other non-pack-leader wolves to the lot. Every time I play that lot, it seems like I have at least two random wolves visiting the lot nearly constantly.

I wonder if all wolves in the game are meant to attract "packs."
20  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nohobbyspam(not functioning) on: 2009 March 21, 06:04:41
He has a certain code he uses when he rings.

Two times, hang up, then call back.

He doesn't do that in your game?  Huh
21  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nohobbyspam(not functioning) on: 2009 March 21, 04:28:28
I've never felt superior about not answering telemarketing calls. Being above that b.s. is just a given.

Since they happen every time a sim gets to about level 2 of any hobby, it means that no one is allowed to skill, ever, unless they want to be terrorized by the hobby maven friend pals and their magazine fun.

I can't take that.

If Kennedy Cox wants to call randomly at noon because he has 13 starter relationship points with one of my sims, that's cool though. Desperate townies are funny. Magazines are not.
22  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nohobbyspam(not functioning) on: 2009 March 21, 02:50:29
Maybe it's Pavlovian? The very sound of any phone ringing gives me pangs of superiority and elitism.

It should be obvious now why I refuse to turn the ringer off in-game.
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nohobbyspam(not functioning) on: 2009 March 20, 17:16:42
Some of us like keeping the ringer on though.
Yeah, well, as it turns out, much like in real life, the calls are never anything of substance and you may as well never answer the phone.
Oh, I never said I answer the phone. However, I would never, ever put it on silent or turn it off. Ignoring phone calls makes me feel big and important. "I'm too good to talk to you."
24  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nohobbyspam(not functioning) on: 2009 March 19, 15:27:39
Some of us like keeping the ringer on though. The telemarketing is so outrageous...worse than real life. The tunaisafish mod is working great though.
25  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I Have. Free Time Crash on Load - Error Log on: 2009 January 28, 22:12:20
I think it says it all not only about the goings-on of this thread, but also the outcomes of all my day to day trivialities. It's always some ridiculous, obvious thing.

If everyone wanted to start calling me Big Stupid Sandy Bruty, I'd have to say I had it coming.

Edit - Sooo, my Riverblossom Hills was borked. I tossed it out, and now all is well again. Happy Crash Time is over.
