Don't double post. There is a modify button for a reason. Learn to use it.
Also, the new versions are 1.10/2.5/3.1. It isn't really absurd since apparently the new stuff that came with HELS had some stupid bugs.
Look Silent Dreamer, first, I have been a member of this site since 2005, so I am not a Newbie as you are, so shut the fuck up. Second, I did not double post, they really are two different topics, so kiss my ass on that one. Third, it is absurd the way that EA seems to update one ahead of Awesome over and over. Now, go back to your stupid Newbie position and Lurk MOAR!

Uncontrolled houses do not actually have mailmen that deliver bills, or actual physical bill objects created. They just simply have the requisite money deducted from their funds quietly in the background to save CPU. This feature is actually going to tie into the new Story Mode engine, where sims are motivated to take actions by their actual life situations, not because the machine arbitrarily tells them to.
I like this, but since the sims in uncontrolled houses often skip work, I can see this being a problem. Is there any way to make sure the uncontrolled houses also get credited for paychecks owed?

I just realized you can set any door to be the front door by clicking on it and choosing said option. Had my sim not wanted to upgrade her door, I still wouldn't know that. I thought that this was from AwesomeMod. Are you telling me that EAxis made the front door option? I am amazed.

This is a nice little starter house. People want to make the big elaborate houses, but this is the type that we need the most. TS3 also limits us in how many small starter houses that can be placed, which is such a pain! I like the layout, although some poor soul is going to get stuck sleeping with a screaming baby or toddler.
If I have a toddler that ages to child and still have a baby or toddler in need of a crib, I would move the crib up to the loft area outside the parent's bedroom. That is the first thing that I look for when dealing with two bedroom houses.

I tried the "Ask Everyone to Leave" command and I thought it had worked, but now all four of the ghosts are acting strangely by sticking around through the day and eating food which they never did before. Thank goodness I have a large house. I guess if it gets to be too much I will put them in the cemetery, but I did not want to do that because I wanted the offspring through the generations to have a chance to get to know their grandparents and beyond. I am not sure what I have done to spur this on, but something is surely broken.
@originalhalf: I had not thought of using ResetSim since it was a ghost, but I will try that. I now need to reset all of them.
They've never done that before? Mine always stick around for breakfast, at the very least. I believe its been determined that ghosts stay out for a random period of six hours, beginning somewhere between twelve a.m. and six a.m. A ghost could come out at, for example, three a.m. and hang around until nine a.m., therefore having time to eat breakfast with the family. Mine have always done this, from about the third time I played the game. If something's broken, I've got the same problem. However, mine always do go back to their tombstones, eventually, even if it's nearly noon by the time they do so. No, this is really new for me. Mine never ate any food. I guess they always had stuff to do. They love the computers and the stereo and this kept them going through the night. However, now, they stay around day after day. It gets to be a PITA around the stairs or sometimes going in and out of rooms because they (ghosts and my sims) all do the 'stand, wait and tap foot routine' before moving an inch and then repeating. I took a break from playing, but I am going to try the reset sim command and see if that does not get them to return to their gravestones.

This was the first thing I wanted to change, but to date I haven't found it in the XML data. I find TS3 a pain to mod so far, anything going beyond a simple XML tweak has been made virtually impossible.
I have been wondering about that. Is the near inability to mod because it needs to be that way for game speed, or whatever? Or is EAxis trying to stop modders? If it is the latter then EAxis is even more stupid than I thought they were since modifying the game is what has made the Sims series so popular.

I really don't think it's unreasonable for the parents to give a moving out adult child a chunk of their funds, particularly if they helped contribute to it in the first place.
Buy a large item, like a car, and put it in the child's inventory. Buy them a house, then switch to that house and sell the car. Now the child has a nice house and some cash to start life with. That is what I do, if I have the cash to spare.

Why, why, why does MATY sometimes just not load pages without me refreshing repeatedly for days at a time, and then work fine other times? I never have this problem with unimportant sites! I have the same problem. Sometimes pages don't load at all, other times they load immediately. It's very inconsistent. Are you, by chance, running ie8? I ran into that when using ie8. I switched to Firefox and have not had a problem since.

Cheat console "backtowork". Do it right after they pop and right after they deliver for absolutely no enforced maternity leave.
How did you find that cheat? I have not seen it anywhere. Also, since I have used it, all of my pregnant sims are being forced back to work instead of just the one that I used it on. After having the baby, my sim did not get any leave and is due to return to work tomorrow. How do I turn the cheat off? ETA: I see where you found it at. I am currently looking for a way to turn if off. Does anyone know of a way? Or am I stuck with it on in this game now?

I have one. It is the retail version.
I have not patched yet because EA seems to not be able to handle my terabyte drive and gives me a message that I do not have enough drive space to install. I have been going back and forth with EA Tech Service.
Same issue. Its a complete joke. I downloaded the patch here though: http://www.simprograms.com/the-sims-3-patches/patches-the-sims-3/Make sure you DL the correct version: The one that says US/English is NOT the UK patch. The other is for all other regions except the US. The Resource Config file is causing my game to hang during loading. Remove it and it all works fine. Thanks Hawg. I am all patched and up and running now. I am still going to pester EA though. They are not going to get off that easy.

Pescado, does the patch that you provided for the US version work with the retail version of the game? I am starting to become very frustrated with EA and their lack of help in being able to actually patch my game. The idiots are not using a large enough datatype to be able to handle terabyte drives, and are now giving me bullcrap answers.

I have had the cup problem, as well. I tried having the Sim go back and do the same action (worked for TS2), but it did not help. Thanks to Awesome mod I was able to reset the Sim. So, yes, the cappuccino machine is buggy.

No Ambrosia! Your sims may learn the recipe for Ambrosia, but may not cook or consume the dish. I understand not wanting someone to consume the recipe, but I had a Sim that received an Opportunity requesting that she make ambrosia for someone else. Why would this not be allowed?

I like being able to take a baby or toddler with you to town. I like that you no longer need a baby sitter for kids (only toddlers and babies).
I do not understand why a child cannot learn to cook and actually cook, though. When I was a 6, I had my own cookbook and used my Mom's stove and oven. So did my brothers. To me, my Sims should be able to do the same things that I did as a 6.
