1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Second AL patch is out. on: 2008 October 24, 01:09:00
Random indeed! I also got a promotion from my neighbour because she claimed she was my bosses cousin. My sim was in the law enforcement career, while the neighbour was clearly in the criminal career by the way she dressed when she went to work. I thought that was pretty funny. Mafia anyone?
2  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Re: Pie Menu Text Strings Fix (Updated 2008/10/18) on: 2008 October 18, 06:57:34

I seem to remember that the makeover chair from OfB was all wrong, you can't see whether you are offering a makeover for free or for payment because the text is the same.
Yes, both "Offer Free Makeover to..." and "Offer Makeover to..." use the same German text string, "Umgestaltung anbieten...". I need a proper German translation for free makeover.

"Offer Free Makeover to..." would be "Kostenlose Umgestaltung anbieten...".
3  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Re: Pie Menu Text Strings Fix on: 2008 October 17, 10:16:26
I love your fix! I play in German as well and there were just errors everywhere! Especially the meals menu is so much better now, it acutally makes sense and does not randomly call some meals lunch and some dinner at the same time of day.

In case you are still adding stuff, I found two more as well: The new play interaction for AL (where the parent swings the child around) is separate to the other play interactions because of the space before the three dots. And in the newspaper, there are separate "read parts" (=Teil lesen) for different hobbies.

Also, I seem to remember that the makeover chair from OfB was all wrong, you can't see whether you are offering a makeover for free or for payment because the text is the same. Unfortunately, I couldn't look that up properly right now.

Thank you so much for doing this.
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: No apartment icon (?) in neighborhood view on: 2008 October 07, 00:07:19
Maybe some CC was hiding somewhere where you didn't expect it, a wrong folder for example? I had the same problem and a binary search revealed that it was related to an outdtated version of "cs_corefuncs.package", which is from this site and has to do with the stuff converted from Castaway Stories. Do a search for that in your entire Sims 2 folder and if you find it, download the updated version. Once I updated it to the version of 26 May 2008, the icons showed fine for me.

And as for the Riley/Cho borkedness, it makes no difference in resetting those apartments as different sublots if I try this either:
Quote
... have whichever one you're playing visit the other for a bit.  When the playable leaves, the apartment you're not playing returns to 'normal' and becomes invisible.  Works fine after that, and solves this bork fairly easily.

Did you knock on the door when you went to visit the other apartment? It worked fine for me once I had done that.

You need to delete the contents of the lot catalog in P001 to get rid of them.

Is that the one located at C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Pets\TSDate\Res\UserData?

Edit: LOL. Thanks Emma. I realize now that my question was stupid, because it actually says that at the start of the quote. I hadn't read it properly and I guess I never put two and two together, because the cat lady and the guy with the dog don't actually come with a house, so I had also always wondered why these two were still everywhere. Well, I guess it is clear for everyone now!
7  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Stuff on: 2008 July 01, 23:57:45
Wow, I just had to delurk to say how amazing you all are. All that stuff already available and fixed! Not having a US or Canadian credit card I couldn't even buy it if I wanted to. Not that I want to give them money for all these broken things. Anyway, thank you all very much!

Anyone have a link to Christianlov's hacked rack? Having some problems locating it. If it works on non-household sims that'll at least solve the issue of my having to move townies in to change their Everyday threads.

You can find it at the Sims2 Graveyard: http://sims2graveyard.com/download.html. It's called christianlov_SimBoutique_ClothingRack. I use it as well and it works fine for me.

Now there's an idea! I hadn't thought of that. I'll try that next time they take 2 hours for a pee again...

There's always crammyboy's community time project hack (here). My business families can't live without it.

I never thought of using it, because of its highly experimental status. Now after a second look, the "Home lot progresses normally but the sims are shown as away at a community lot" feature does sound very enticing. But I'm a little not sure. Do I bring the "away" sim to the actually work site and work for eight hours (and the business will run smoothly with the owner and other employees present)? How do you use it, Pyromaniac? Any caveat or advise before I embark on it?

I love that mod and have had no problems with it. You take your "away" sim normally to a community lot or owned business lot and play him for as long as you want him to be away. The community lot or business will work as usual. When you make your sim go home, the home lot will load, but the "away" sim will not reappear immediately. Instead, he will be off world until the time he spent on the community lot has also passed on the home lot. The motives of the "away" sim will be like they were when he left the community lot.

Just bear in mind that sims are very slow in everything they do, so a lot of time seems to pass on a community lot or in the business very quickly, without your sim having done much. I can live with that, though. Just try out if it works for you.

11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Tourist groups and their relationships on: 2007 October 30, 04:40:31
Well, I'm completely unsure what these weird relationships are. But I think them not showing up in the relationship panes in game does not necessarily mean they are not there... And I know that these tourist families and some of the Bon Voyage NPCs were the only sims with these relationships (or at least the large number of them, i.e. a relationship with every one of the special NPCs).

But yeah, it could be SimPE weirdness. I don't really know enough about these things to tell.  Undecided
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Tourist groups and their relationships on: 2007 October 22, 05:23:16
I was playing with a Bon Voyage QA-release of SimPE today, checking out the tourist families. I thought it would be nice if they were actual families and did not only share a name. I found that these families do not know anyone else in the group with the same name, but have random relationships with all the special NPC's, i.e. the grim reaper, Crumplebottom, Pollination Tech, the ideal plantsim etc. I find that quite surprising and unnecessary. What a bloat! Is this normal? Is it bad? Can these relationships safeley be deleted? And does anyone know of any reasons why tourists should not be proper families with all the proper relationships?

13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 12, 00:22:10
From what I could tell, there was no way to fulfill the want my sim had to firedance on vacation once she learned it.  Any lot that had a mat, also had a firedancer who you could only watch or wait to watch.

I don't think you need a mat. Have you tried clicking on your Sim and choose entertain (hmm, not playing in English, so not sure that's the right word for it. But, you know, the one where you also do rapping for money?). There should be a fire dance option there, and he'll just do it anywhere.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 09, 01:20:46
Do you really need to learn the fire dance all the way from the fire dancer? I had an elder sim who started learning and then quit after a while because of his needs. After he was back home in the main hood, he had the want to "learn to fire dance". I was a bit surprised, because there are no firde dancers, but it said to just click on the sim and choose "fire dance". Which worked, and he started practicing. I don't know though whether he'll get any better, because there was no learning bar anymore (I think), but I thought it might worked like other hidden skills.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 07, 12:11:17
Does anyone know yet how the seasons work in BV? I mean, if they are set to fall, fall, winter, winter in Three Lakes, how do you ever make it into winter? In the main hood, the seasons change by lot in the set order, but sims normally only stay for 7 days on holiday, so winter wouldn't be reached. Or do the seasons carry on after your sims left, for the next ones?

My biggest annoyance so far was when I tried to make some sims woohoo in their hotel room before they went to sleep. As soon as they were relaxing, one of them would turn on the TV. But with the TV on, they can't go to sleep afterwards. So I made them turn it off, for which they got out of bed (they can turn it on while relaxing just fine). By the time I had them relax again, the other sim would have turned on the TV... meh. I guess that always happened, but I don't normally put TVs in the bedroom.

And are sims supposed to be able to use other sims' hotel rooms? After my sims checked in, the other doors had red signs on them and were occupied by other guests. One room was blanked out like in uni and you couldn't enter it, but my sims could use the other rooms fine. I found one sleeping in another guest's hotel bed...
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Add Freshness Mod?? on: 2007 April 01, 02:32:32
The updated version of Monique's computer on MTS also has the option to "buy produce" in "shop online", apparently. I don't have that version, so I can't tell you if it works, but I thought I'd mention it anyway Tongue.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I'm sure everyone but me knew about this Maxis Hair for Male Sims. on: 2007 March 25, 01:44:33
The sim "Paolo Meneguzzi" from the Italian EA-Site also comes with new hair (binned) here: http://www.electronicarts.it/Downloads.aspx?id=1274. It doesn't really work with dark skintones though, because there is some weirdness at the forehead and there are light spots. Maybe someone who knows what they're doing could look into that? That sim isn't particularly pretty, either, but I don't think it comes with a face template.

By the way, I didn't find this sim myself, I got him originally from an "International Downloads Pack" I got here http://ts2preorderpack.myfreeforum.org/forum1.php. You can also get all the preorder stuff there.
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Ottomas family in Seasons - normal brokenness and more brokenness on: 2007 March 06, 15:28:20
I didn't have any problem nuking the pregnancy with the new lot debugger. I did it right when she was waving at me due to give birth, because that's where I had saved in my backup. She reverted to non-pregnant state and I made her pregnant by the father, then forced twins and sped up the pregnancy. She gave birth only a few hours after and the babies had the right father.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Instant Loves Question on: 2007 March 05, 18:59:39
Make sure you have the latest version of the latest version. I'm pretty sure this takes the seasons into account, since I sort off asked about it here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,7478.0.html . Maybe you could also try spring, I think that helps with romance. And maybe the hack is just quite realistic, and some sims won't ever fall in love with others. Or at least particular others.
20  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Ottomas family in Seasons - normal brokenness and more brokenness on: 2007 March 02, 22:56:10
Okay, I worked out why I couldn't give birth properly. The culprit was the new Seasons version of TwoJeffs Age Duration Hack. Once I took that out, there were no errors anymore and both babies arrived normally and could be named. I of course forgot to check who their father was, though  Embarrassed I'm guessing it is still Patricia, but I will go and have a look in a minute.

*off to TwoJeffs thread first to report*

Edit: Yep, Patricia is still the "father". Oh well.
21  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Ottomas family in Seasons - normal brokenness and more brokenness on: 2007 March 02, 19:38:15
The Ottomas family in Seasons is broken. As some people already noticed, when the mother gives birth, the babies get Patricia Wan as the father (or other random sims in other neighbourhoods. Apparently even dogs!). I also have this problem, but my problem goes further... The mother never gives birth to the second baby but resets after going through the labour motions. I never had the option to name the first baby, either.

Debug mode comes up with the following errors:

"Missing neighbour for data access" both for the mother and the first baby (guess that than makes them have the wrong father) and
"Required cinematic actor is missing" for the mother during the second birth. Error logs are attached (although not all error logs seem to have been produced, and one seems to be a duplicate).

Does anyone have any ideas, especially about finishing the birth?

Oh, you've done all the work already! Thank you!
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / noinstantlove and seasons on: 2007 March 01, 23:10:02
I downloaded the new version of noinstantlove and noticed that it removes the little snowflake that appears over the sims in a family when their relationsships go up in winter. Does anyone else have that? There was no error in debug mode and I am not sure anything apart from that icon changed. I couldn't see any difference in the relationship boost with the hack or without it. So maybe there still is the boost families supposedly get in winter and you just can't see it anymore. Has anyone already found out more?
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: censor.package and userstartupcheat on: 2007 March 01, 14:51:46
I remember already having a userstartup.cheat in my config folder before I made one myself. That was before Seasons, though. I don't know where it came from, but it just said "boolProp testingCheatsEnabled false" in it, and I thought that was odd, because it is "false" by default anyway...
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Time paradox on: 2007 March 01, 03:55:10
It does sound great! Like how it should have been in the first place.
