TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / No Insects For Me, Either
|
on: 2010 February 04, 18:41:18

Maybe they told the coders in Shanghai that they wanted a release with fewer bugs with the new patch? Snort. No 'insects' in any of my saved games now, nor in a 'new' game, when in the default town. However, I zipped over to Egypt and there were still insects there. Now if the mummitorium would regen...

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Restaurant Issues - Play Balance???
|
on: 2006 March 11, 05:21:23
|
I'm pondering whether I need to install a 'virgin' version of the game to see if it is because of hacks, but what the hell is with the play balance on this EP? If someone comes to my restaurant (I'm up to a 7 rating), they are seated, order, are served, take a bite (or not) and get up and leave. Nobody buys anything at the attached store. They will gladly pay $15 to enter the lot.
I mean, really, wasn't this supposed to be like running a business? I am a business owner in real life. My customers come in and actually BUY THINGS. I may gossip and chat with them, and maybe even occasionally smustle with them, but dammit, I don't charge them admission. And you know what, I DON'T pay my employees $44 to $90 an hour.
And why did my manager suddenly become a playable sim? I don't WANT her to be a playable sim - I wanted her to MANAGE THE RESTAURANT.
Why can't I TAKE A NAP? Even with a bed on the lot in a locked room, I can't sleep. WHY NOT?
Why do I have to spend all this time staring at the screens to go from work to home? If I could just SLEEP upstairs I wouldn't have to do that (yes, I have Merola's painting, but how do you do it without that?)

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OT - You know you're an internet geek when....

I met my husband via a local Internet (dialup) group on his 22nd birthday in 1992. I'm 10 years older. We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary in October. Can't imagine life without him, but I'd have never met him if it weren't for the internet, which was still in the beginning stages at that point. If you're not a church goer or bar hopper, it's not easy to meet potential partners. I always thought dating sucked. At least through an online relationship you kind find out if the person has more than ten functioning synapses before meeting. I would never date a hunter and pecker! > hugs! Rooby

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Friendly Sims missing from phone/dating list?
|
on: 2005 November 04, 05:11:08

I've poked around a bit and can't find reference to a similar situation. I don't know if this is a bug or an intended event. I have a Sim (Lunn) that I created who started out at the University. When he was there, he met Lara Ruzinska or something like that. I had her move into a house with another player-controlled Sim so that she would become a player-controlled Sim. So Lara and Lunn graduated college and moved back to town. They live in separate trailers, but have been dating and boinking all along. I was playing Lara last night, and suddenly I noticed that Lunn no longer shows up on the list of people she can call! She used to have 1+ pages of people she could call, and now only has one page. He still shows up on the list of friends, with a stat of 97/87, and the red heart and best friends icons are still there. If I switch over to HIM, she shows up on HIS list just fine. He can call her and invite her over, but she cannot call him and invite him over. The only things that have changed are that I installed the new version of SimPE last night. Does it have anything to do with Lunn being a romance sim and having boinked 18 women so far? (He's modeled after my own darling brother, and quite resembles him.) I do not have any phone hacks installed right now (really irritating with that f^$#% constantly ringing phone.) So, has anyone else had this happen? It has not happened to me before and I refuse to tell you how many hours a day I play lest you think that I have issues dealing with reality and prefer a simulation of life to the one I'm living. TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Nightlife Rocks (Gasp!)
|

I've been playing Sims since the first game, including all expansions, as has my adult daughter.
In our opinion, this is the best X-pack ever. We both quit playing the first game after the HotDate X-pack - it hosed gameplay so badly that it just was too frustrating to play. Also, that god-damned re-appearing fly swarm just got to be OLD.
I had to go through and remove my mods to get my game to work correctly after installing NightLife (using CleanInstaller). As was mentioned by a Maxis person somewhere, some of these mods were redundant for NL since the game engine has changed. Since my daughter didn't have the hacks that I did, she didn't run into any of the initial problems I had.
My downloaded items, including food items, are working fine. I left in two custom careers and haven't had any problems with those. I have nearly 9000 items in my download folder.
I haven't had any hosed Sims. My sorority house (the one that came with the game) is still broken, but no big deal - I have my own frat house that I use for my Sims going to college and it works fine.
I think the gameplay is greatly enhanced by the X-pack. Playing the University area is more interesting now. The needs don't decay as quickly as they used to, so you can actually DO something downtown.
There are some new animations that are pretty funny.
I miss Autoyak a LOT, and hope that is one of the mods that is updated for NL.
My husband is a games software engineer in test, but not for EA. I know how hard those folks work on a game. Do you honestly think these people invest years of their lives (for what is rumored to be crappy compensation) to intentionally release a shit game? When I see some of the childish 'EA GAMES IS THE ANTICHRIST' posts on these boards I just want to take away their computers for a week and send the authors out to mow the grass and take out the garbage. It's a GAME, and a pretty amazing game at that. Threatening class action lawsuits and so forth is incredibly juvenile. If you don't like the game, don't play it. If you have positive suggestions, make them. If you have the skills to mod, goddess bless you. If you have the ability to skin & mesh WELL more power to you, and if I think it is good enough I will GLADLY pay for your work.
I even like the packaging. The box is big enough to hold all of the disks for the game thus far. I removed the product key sheet from the first two jewel cases and the paperwork fits nicely in the left side. Having been through the frustration of trying to find the original game disks for a reinstall after a couple of years, I appreciate a neat & tidy solution to keeping the whole game together. The background on the new box is my favorite shade of purple, AND the X-pack came out the day before my birthday.
There you have it - as uncool as it is, I am pretty darned happy with this X-pack and I think EA did a fantastic job.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Greek House corrupt, can't ask to pledge, pledges don't show up...

The house was a level 4, so the level 6 issue wasn't the problem.
I installed the amnesia patch and a couple other Pescado fixes.
Now poor Alec has blank wants, still can't ask anyone to pledge, and the two new members don't show up in the house or at their old dorm.
I guess I'll let him graduate and see if he is 'normal' when he's back in the 'hood.
Poor bastage.

We prefer the ceremony of setting the deceased on fire in some particularly impressive way, then getting roaring drunk and having some fistfights.
Laugh...being named 'Pescado', I didn't have you pegged for a Norwegian, but it explains alot.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Greek House corrupt, can't ask to pledge, pledges don't show up...
|
on: 2005 July 21, 04:42:32
|
Hello! I've searched for hours on various simsites to find out why this is happening. I hope this isn't TMI, but here's what led up to this. (However, I did learn where the infamous JM Pescado is now - smile.)
1. I started a completely new neighborhood to play a Legacy challenge. No hacks, no SimPE'ing, only moveobjects and the occasional boolprop snapobjectstogrid false.
2. I waited until I had four members of the 2nd generation ready to go to college, plus moved in one NPC (Meadow) and two YA's I created with CAS, so 7 YA's moved into the large private house in the Sim State University neighborhood, which I had never played in before. Then one Sim fell in love with an NPC, and she asked him to move in.
3. I decided to make the house be a Greek house. Everything went along fine, and several of the people in the house also joined the Secret Society. In each case, I had the Sim stick around after graduation to max out as many skills as possible before they were forced to move back the the 'hood. The taxi came and got each one just fine.
4. Now the remaining Sim is the NPC that moved in with the group and became a playable Sim. He's in his last semester of college, but he doesn't have the 'ask so-and-so to pledge' option - even Sims he's got a 100/100 friendship with. He still 'visits campus'. During the game the Sims kept bringing back more letters and I kept deleting them for $100 a pop - was this a mistake? I had already put letters on the house, so I didn't want those letters.
5. I tried opening a dorm house and playing one of the characters there to have them pledge the Greek house that the single guy is in. Everything went along fine, they pledged (I did it twice) and used the phone to 'move to Greek house.' However, they never show up at the Greek house. When I go back into the dorm, both of those players show as still being in the dorm, but if I click on their avatar I don't find them.
So is my Greek house irretrievably corrupt, or is there a download that will fix it?
Does anyone know what, if anything, I did to cause it?
Is there a way to reset JUST THAT LOT to the original vacant house without uninstalling and reinstalling the game?
I'd really hoped to have a permanent fraternity there that I could use, and I had it tricked out very nicely and spent a lot of time doing it.
Thank you in advance for any help or suggestions. I had a fraternity lot go bad before and had to uninstall/reinstall and I just really don't want to do that again.
