TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: BREAKING NEWS: TSR INSTALLS SPYWARE!
|
on: 2009 July 22, 09:22:24

I posted a link to this thread on GOS but apparently it got deleted. It makes me wonder if some people are ignorant enough not to listen when someone shouts SPYWARE!. I personally think you should listen to things like that.. but pah, it's my fault for trying to share a heads up. Their computers. ... I'm going to go install more virus killers. I thought they Disliked TSR there... Oh well.. If someone had the technological Savvy to remove the spyware from TSR's Program and repost it somewhere else.. That would be Hilarious. To be a fly on the wall... I just want to clarify that the official GoS stance on TSR is that it sucks. Also, we currently are hosting a thread that was posted by Pescado on the topic. I can't speak for everyone of course, but I am waiting to hear more about this; what it does and how to kill it. I don't think anyone in their right mind would endorse viruses and spyware being installed on their machines.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Razor1911 release vs. Reloaded release

I downloaded and installed the Reloaded version, and then for shits and grins the Razor version. Right off the bat with the Razor version I noticed less crashing, though it still happens, and a very slight speed up in the fast forward options. However, it could be because of the fresh install rather than any real changes in the code.

Blah. I hate complications, I was hoping someone would just say 'here is a hack you couldn't find because you are not awesome' and then I'd go along my merry way. I suppose if it isn't worth investigating I'll just have to install the Numenor thing and deal with it.
The point of a custom CAS for me is that I spend a lot of time taking screenshots and stuff in there, and I hate the maxis plain brick fugly thing. That's about the only reason, really.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Custom CAS, Seasons and you
|
on: 2007 June 12, 18:24:20

Well, maybe not YOU but ME and ME is more important than YOU anyway. Right?
Anyway. Here's the thing. Custom CAS screens created in Seasons have a bug in them that make created sims freeze and unfreeze over and over during the creation process. Quite annoying. It is unrelated to roofing, or any building type things, since it has been tested in completely enclosed lots with roofs and the whole nine yards. It looks like the only way to make a working custom CAS with seasons installed is to use Numenor's Base Game Starter, load the original game, make your CAS and then export it to your Season's game. It's kind of an annoying pain in the ass, and if you want to use any EP content in your CAS you're SOL.
So, can anyone more awesome than me tell me if this is a problem in the code? Can it be fixed with a hack, possibly?

Apparently, the solution to my problem was to get completely frustrated and throw my hands up in disgust, then go watch Mythbusters for an hour. I came back and magically, the whole thing works just fine now.
I guess I'll never know...

Okay, I'm so frustrated right now I could just kill something, so instead I will throw myself on your mercy. Maybe you can help me, because in spectacular EA fashion the forums or technical support are not at all helpful.
Last night, I installed Seasons. It loaded, added in my cc (sans hacks) and played beautifully for a couple hours. Suddenly it crashed to the desktop without an error. By then, it was very late so I just turned off my computer and went to bed. Today, I go to play and the game won't open. I get the splash screen, then nothing. If I go to the task manager, I can see the process doing it's thing, but still no game loading going on.
The EA people suggested that I:
-Update my drivers. My drivers are up to date -Disable my antivirus/firewall. Yeah, whatever. It worked just fine with them on last night. Still, gave it a try. Nothing. -Turn off daemon tools and the like. Yeah, fine, except again, it worked last night with all that running, and I am not getting a cd error. Still, gave it a shot, and still not working. -Reinstallation. Yep, tried that. Woohoo, a waste of my life! New installation, same problem.
So, anyone have any less asinine suggestions for me?

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Less than a day, already a hack is desperately needed!

Okay, seriously. Leave the damn cats alone. Stop throwing them in the air and picking them up when they are going to eat. I gave you guys videogames, a pinball machine, a hot tub, and everything else, but you are still freaking obsessed with the cats.
Pescado, I beg you. Make them quit fucking with the pets. I mean, some autonomous love is okay, but I doubt any animal wants to be constantly thrown up in the air like that. Honestly, if some asshat came over to my house and started throwing MY cats around, I would have to kill them.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stripping animations
|
on: 2006 October 12, 21:40:39

Well, BeosBoxBoy posted this at Insim in reply to my question: yes it is easy enough to remove the animation - but sort of tedious if the mesh has undergone the SMD export-import in SimPE (the usual quick fix)
Export as SMD - open SMD with MilkShape - it will gag a bit but load and strip it down to one bone assignment - select all - use the Unimesh bone tool to assign everything to 100% head - select the seam line accross the nape of the neck and behind the ears and asign them 50% neck 50% head - use the Unimesh exporter to generate a simpe file - replace the mesh by right-clicking the GMDC in the list window at the top right of SimPE and selecting the simpe file you just created.
Hope that explains it - it is easy - just a bugger I havent tried it out yet, but hopefully I'll be able to figure it out. He says it's easy, but we'll see Jelenedra, it is the layered mesh. It looks great in Bodyshop, but in my game the animations flap around like crazy.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Web Hosting Services?
|

I've used both Lypha and Godaddy, as well as briefly using yahoo premium hosting.
Lypha is excellent, has great tools and user interface, and is reasonably priced. There are a lot of package options, and the support staff are pretty quick when you need them. I had a few instances where the servers went down, but nothing too major.
Godaddy is the one I currently use. It has less tools and options than Lypha, but for me it is more cost effective (it's pretty cheap). Support responds quickly to trouble tickets. I've also never had the server go down, that I can recall. I get 5GB storage and 250GB bandwidth for about $4 a month, give or take. Unlike Pescado, I've never had any billing issues with them from either credit card or paypal payments.
Don't use yahoo/geocities. It's bad, has limited tools, and is far too expensive for what little you get.
Of course, none of my experiences were with business accounts that required shopping carts or credit card processing. I suggest talking to someone who has experience with that sort of thing and finding out what services you'll need, then shopping around for the best package.

No, its one of Minanna's hairs on MTS2. I think she is Korean. Anyway, I've read through her thread on MTS2, and no one else has reported it acting odd in their game. I'd rather just modify the mesh for my own use than pester her, if possible. Also, it is just a general bit of information that may come in handy, since I know nothing about animations.

Okay, I've asked elsewhere, but really this is the place I should have asked first. Is there any way to strip animations from a custom hair mesh? I recently downloaded a mesh that I really like, but in my game the animated parts flap around nonstop. I'd like to keep the style, but only if I can somehow get rid of the animation.
Anyone know if it's possible and how to go about doing something like that?

I have to delete my groups.cache before I load either my game or bodyshop. It's because I have so freaking much CC. It doesn't hurt anything to delete it, it regenerates on its own. It may add a little time to your loading time, but in my case an extra minute or two really doesnt make any difference.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Starbucks with your Sims?

Would it really be that different than it is now? Janna made a Starbucks set for sims, a Bodyworks, and some other stuff. I've seen various different McDonalds set ups from different places. People eat that stuff up. Some people would be super excited if we could get real life branding in our games.
