1  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Crashing CAS on: 2009 July 13, 03:10:39
Have you tried getting rid of any custom CAS setups?

I don't have any.

Edit: Body shop is now crashing as well. I got this error message, which also means nothing to me. I think I'll just have to do a massive uninstall/reinstall to solve this.

2  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Crashing CAS on: 2009 July 13, 02:53:59
I'm trying to put some new sims in my hood that I made in BS. However, when I comfirm them to be moved from the CAS to the bin, the game freezes and crashes. I even took out all my CC and it still froze and crashed. I thought maybe it was the hood, so I tried to import a sim into an empty hood. There is nothing there, I always clean out all the townies before I start a new hood. The CAS still froze and crashed.

I delete the cache files before I start playing, my CC had been compressed.  I did look at the App error log the game created, but it doesn't tell me much. The only other log file with information in it is the Config-log. The one below is the App error log. I'm running on Vista, with all EP/SP and M&G no-CD crack.

3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Apocalypse! How many are left? on: 2009 July 13, 02:41:03
I am definitely sticking with The Sims 2.  I have no desire whatsoever to have Sims 3. After reading all of the threads, there is no way in HELL I would EVER have that bloated piece of shit on my computer.  The gameplay looks horrible, all the Sims look like they need Midol to get rid of the bloating, and it just over all looks like shit.  Until there is a way to not have have those larded up, plastic surgery nightmares from fucking up my game, then, and only then, will I being considering it.  Is there any reason whatsoever I should even bother with The Sims 3?  I just need to know if it's remotely worth having since I need to download a separate mod just to fix the majority of the fuckups EAsshole always makes.

Ditto.

Plus, I haven't seen anything that justifies the price tag, the sims look just horrid, and I understand that the gameplay is very restrictive. I don't need that. If EA had kept making EPs for TS2, I would have happily kept giving them money, but as it is, I'll wait and see what 4 looks like. Maybe they'll try VR or something.  Roll Eyes

Did you try firing up Body Shop without the face replacements?

I . . . took out the folder and bodyshop still crashes.

Did you fire up Body Shop while connected to the internet with an antivirus protection program on?

No.

Do you have securom?

Dear God no! I only play with nocd.

Do you have enough gigs of memory and a competent processor to run both the Vista hog and the TS2 hog?  Craptops aren't known for their gaming abilities, you know.

I have 11.5 GB of free space. I guess that's enough.
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Vista and downloads on: 2009 February 24, 06:06:33
You used the Bodyshop under Mansions and Gardens?  It's a long shot, but try using the one under Apartment Life.

Usually, I use the bodyshop from the newest SP or EP that I have in. I did try using the AL bodyshop, with the same results. I think I may have to uninstall the whole works and reinstall in and see if that helps. I've never had this may problems before with what is -- for all intents and purposes-- a vanilla game.  Undecided

Though, I'm wondering if I may have to rebuy all the games, since Vista wasn't out when they were released, or if there is something I can add to Vista to make it backwards compatible.
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Vista and downloads on: 2009 February 22, 01:54:09
Well, like I said, I was able to find the folder and I put my default face replacements in and went into bodyshop. And it crashed. I have in everything except Nightlife, which I will have to borrow, so the coding for DL in folders should be there since I have everything after NL. I even took out the folder and bodyshop still crashes.

I'm more freaked out than annoyed at this point. I won't play the game until I have NL, but bodyshop should be okay. I'm trying to run it from M&G (x-mas gift, I didn't buy), but no luck.

Since my computer came with the HD split, I checked to see if maybe I accedently loaded a game on the wrong drive, but everything is in C.

Clearly, I am made of fail. Sad

Here are the error messages that Vista produced.

If you can't find your downloads, get the game going first, with all the patches, EPs etc. Play it a little while without CC, then start incorporating your download folder )or if you still can't find it) downloading again. Organize your files whatever way works for you, and pay attention to download the ones that are associated with whatever EPs and stuff packs you have.

Stop trying to force the XP version on your Vista computer. It ain't gonna work. As for the remarks about Vista, all I can say is I distinctly remember similar remarks about XP until Microsoft fixed its bugs. Change is uncomfortable.

So far everything loaded fine, and I wasn't forcing it on. I do still have my old downloads folder, and as soon as I find my nightlife disk  Angry I want to play it clean, with only the default face replacements in.

And I liked XP as soon as it came out.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Vista and downloads on: 2009 February 13, 04:13:40
Well, one thing is for certain--I am NOT awesome enough to completely wipe and reload a  hard drive with a new OS, and I didn't have time at the time to do that. I was under a very strict deadline when the first laptop exploded in a fireball visible from space.

However, I will try what Assmitten suggested and see if that works.

If you want to be a whiny quitter like all the sad Ubuntu/Unix evangelists around here, then be my guest.

Um . . .yeah. No. My brother is one of these and I have to supress the urge to punch him in the brain when he starts raving about the Eeeeevillll Microsoft.  Roll Eyes

Vista is like getting dumped in the Outback with nothing but a flip flop and some string. Props if you can take it. Godspeed, and don't sleep in the same room with it.

I couldn't have said it better myself.  Cool
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Vista and downloads on: 2009 February 13, 03:18:43
Much to my everlasting consternation, I was forced to get a new laptop, and it came equipped with the anti-christ . . . excuses me Vista.

Anyway, I've been trying to reload my game, and I cannot find my downloads folder. I'm not sure where it would be; I know the basegame created one on 2000 and XP, but I'm not totally sure where it is in Vista.

There is a 'user' folder instead of 'my docs' and that folder has two folders in it, one with my name, one marked public. Neither of them contain anything that says EA, Maxis, or The Sims 2.

Please help. Maybe I can't find it because I HATE VISTA SO F*CKING MUCH  Angry and am not looking hard enough, but I haven't played in 2 months and I'm going crazy!

How current is this hack? I don't care about removing the asterisk, thought it is easy to tell which things are default and what's not, but who want their game broken by on outdated hack?

Okay . . .  Huh

Well, I hunted around online and this is what I found for my graphics card.

Graphics & Video Module: Intel GMA 950 Controller with 8MB~128MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory

I hope that means something to sombody, because I'm totally confused.  Huh Huh
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: buying clothes for non-playables, is there a better way? on: 2008 May 06, 23:08:23
I've been using the old version of Christianlov's clothing rack and Jaxol0127's nonpcrevert.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Default replacement neck issue on: 2008 May 06, 19:49:24
Well, I ran Delphy's cleaner about 4 times, I took out somethings, disabled a few others and then ran the clean installer just for a laugh. The problen still hasn't gone away. I'm still unsure where the

Sims2\Config folder

is. If it's the one I think it is, all that's in there is a file called "Broadcast", one called "userProps", which I opened but there is nothing that says userstartup.cheat-- and another file called "videocapture."

I play on a laptop, so I'm not really sure how to tell what my video card is. I'm not trying to be stupid, but I'm starting to get a little frustrated.  Sad
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Default replacement neck issue on: 2008 May 05, 21:12:58
Thanks for the advice, guys. I'm working on it now.  Smiley

17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Default replacement neck issue on: 2008 May 01, 23:11:10
Please indulge the stupid:  where exactly is the userstartup.cheat file?
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Default replacement neck issue on: 2008 May 01, 21:51:44
Can't really contribute (except that I'm also bummed by the skin from the back of the neck -a.k.a. the hair part- not matching with default skin replacements)

I'm also annoyed by that.

that male sim? Yum!!

Cheesy

Who/where did you get said skins from? I'd report it to them.

Like I said, this is the 3rd set, from different people that I've had this issue with. As soon as I take them out, everythings fine.

I guess I'll have to take out the face replacements.  Angry
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Default replacement neck issue on: 2008 May 01, 21:14:27
This is actually the 3rd replacement I've had the issue with. The first time it happened, I did have 2 of the same skin, but I removed the lot, and replaced them with more care.

I thought it might be the face replacements, but the only skin that has this issue is the defaults. Every other skin tone in my folder works just fine.  Undecided
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: K&B SimPE on: 2008 May 01, 19:12:50
Cheesy Thanks, Inge.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Default replacement neck issue on: 2008 May 01, 19:07:02

As you can see, I have 2 sims here. For some reason, the female's neck and body seem to be rejecting the default replacements, but the male does not. This has been happening for a while, and it's really starting to bug me.  Angry

I've taken out the replacements, and yes, the problem goes away, but that's not the point. I'm just curious if anyone else is having this issue and can I make it go away.

I do have face replacements also, but I'm not sure if that would be a contributing factor.

I have all the EP and SP.

Where can I find the no CD-Crack for FT? I'd like to play it, but I refuse to delete Dameon Tools or any other programe on my computer.  Angry

Thanks, B. I'll give it a try Smiley
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Defaults on: 2007 September 20, 12:22:22
I'm sure that this has been asked before, but how do you make a skintome a default over-ride? I'd like to see some townies with more radical skin; blue, purple, pink, ect.
