1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Faster learning without cheating on: 2006 June 28, 03:39:45
I don't think I have ever had smart milk NOT stick.  I've even had it stick into adulthood.
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I thought I was losing it! on: 2006 June 20, 21:57:01
my friend had veronaville disappear once, but she had to do some funky replacement thing.  Glad yours was an easy fix that didn't require you to reset the neighborhoods
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Repricing floors and walls? on: 2006 June 20, 21:55:40
You can also just right-click on the package file you want to edit, and where it says open you should have the option to open with simPE.

THAT'S how I was doing it before...I knew it was something simple, but just couldn't remember.

Thanks, everyone for the help
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Repricing floors and walls? on: 2006 June 20, 18:14:26
thank you.  I knew it had to be easy, but in my advanced age, I totally forgot
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Repricing floors and walls? on: 2006 June 20, 14:23:49
how do I open the wallpaper or floor in simpe, because I seem to have forgotten.
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Repricing floors and walls? on: 2006 June 19, 17:08:00
would it be possible to do a "repricing for dummies"?

I am also annoyed by the low prices of walls and floors...so it would be a help.

I did figure out how to use SimPe to determine, and then rename the random number and letter names to what they are

"But Your Honor....I have the RIGHT to a bug-free game"

yeah, don't see that being a legitimate lawsuit.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 16, 03:12:12
I'm not expecting a game to be faultless, it would be unrealistic to expect that.  What would be nice is some evidence that the game was playtested, or at least the code proofread.  I am not a coder, and I won't claim that I know what goes into programming anything, but it seems that there are things that modders like JMP, TJ, Crammyboy, etc are putting out that fixes error in code.  If these talented people can fix the errors post production, then why can't Maxis do it, before it gets to mass production.

My main point, was that QA in most other industries is a bit tighter. (of course, you can't download a patch that fixes a brake problem in your car, so I guess that their testing is more rigerous out of necessity)
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 16, 01:04:36
I was thinking the other day, if any other item was shipped with as many problems as TS2 (et al) is, the company would be out of business, with recalls and other such nonsense.

I am as guilty as alot, because I buy the expansions when they come out, and I don't boycott or refuse to buy because it isn't perfect.  Quite a racket Maxis/EA has, their beta testers have to pay THEM.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Patches for OFB and FFS on: 2006 June 15, 21:56:47
If we patched, do we patch again?

I know that not everyone is bad over at insim...in fact, I did my share of posting over there, until I discovered MATY, and I just don't have enough time in my day to go to all the forums I want to.  I know I'm not going to really run into the "fankid" attitude here, and I prefer it that way.

I pop over there once in a while, but I don't hang out there frequently, just like I pop over to the forum section of MTS2, but don't hang out over there either.  I like the no punches pulled attitude that prevails here.

13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: kind of a random question about hacks on: 2006 June 10, 12:18:53
I do find it funny that little ol' me could start such an uproar with a simple question.

The fangirl/fanboy responses over on insim just reinforces why I come here, and not there.  We may like Awesome hacks, and I know I admire JM and TJ because they are able to do things that I can't even THINK of doing.  I also don't sit here and make ego stroking posts to them...Somehow, I don't think JM's ego needs that much stroking.

Let the fankids play over there, and I'll happily stay here.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sweet Mother Gaia: RAM is Good... on: 2006 June 09, 17:28:07
I have the 9300, and I added ram to make a gig, it still writes to the hard drive alot, but its not too bad once I set up a user profile just for sims 2.  Mine just constantly ran out of virtual memory untill I did that.

I hope I can keep adding expansions, might be worth saving my pennies for a new one, should I need to upgrade.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: kind of a random question about hacks on: 2006 June 09, 17:17:58
Personally what I love is the non-linear progression of a thread started by asking a fairly simple straightforward question turning into a debate, a thread on another website and then personal attacks. (Not to mention the squeeeeing of "oh squinge you're wonderful, don't listen to those horrible people on MATY!)
 Roll Eyes

well, I aim to...well, do something.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is FFS worth every penny? on: 2006 June 09, 02:52:26
Maxis called it a stuff pack, not an expansion...so there wasn't anything added to gameplay, just clothing and decor items
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: La Fiesta Tech-The campus of the GHOSTS? on: 2006 June 09, 02:24:08
I often have dormies kick it, I assume it's from "nodormieprotect"  Before that, they would get stinky, etc, but they wouldn't die.  Now, they don't eat, and eventually they die.  If I catch it, I might make them selectable, and make them eat/shower/go to the bathroom.  I always delete the tombstones/urns because the ghosts bug me
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: kind of a random question about hacks on: 2006 June 08, 14:50:24
I feel bad that I started this controversy.

I guess I shouldn't have specified which hack was in question, and just kept it a general question.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: kind of a random question about hacks on: 2006 June 08, 12:34:14
well, I know what all my hacks do, and I (with the exception of this one) have them filed in a hack file, by creator.  This one got misfiled, and so when I thought I removed it, I didn't, therefore I thought I would ask a general question. (of course, I'm left wondering what I removed, and when I'm going to miss it)

I wasn't bashing Squinge's mods, I think it's a great idea, but, to ME, there are some annoyances...not bugs, but enough of an annoyance to me, that I wanted to remove the hack.  I actually did post over there to see if the most recent version still has the annoyances.

Actually, my question could have applied to any mod that "fixed" or enabled game code, it just happened that I noticed something when I thought I removed one of squinges mods
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: kind of a random question about hacks on: 2006 June 08, 11:20:45
well, I found it, by going through all my sub-folders.  Sorry for asking a totally non-relevent, and definatly non-awesome question.

I really like the idea of breastfeeding babies...I hate all the damn bottles lying around...I mean, if they would clean up after themselves, it would be nice (thankfully, they just delete) but, I don't want to have the annoyances.  (I had my elder mom interact with her adult daughter, and when I clicked, the option to nurse was there...to which, I just said ewwwwwwwwwwwww)

thanks for the help.  I guess it teaches me not to dabble in the "non-awesome"

(MATY got a mention on his forum, too... http://www.insimenator.net/showthread.php?t=14157 )
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / kind of a random question about hacks on: 2006 June 07, 17:34:27
if I had a hack that enabled hidden game code, then I removed the hack, would the action remain?

I had Squinges breastfeeding hack, which I like the idea of, but, there are just too many annoyances, so I removed the hack.  The moms still try to autonously breastfeed the toddlers, even though it isn't actually possible, and there is a food source available.  ( have run clean installer, and gone through all my downloads, and the hack just isn't there)  I, at this point, only have hacks from here, and moniques computer, and that's all
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: toddlers playing together, why not? on: 2006 June 02, 22:18:34
Yep, developmentally, kids don't "cooperative play" until around 2.5 or 3.  Before that, it's called "parallel play" where they play in the same area, but not together.  There are exceptions to everything, of course, depending on where the kid is developmentally, and how much access a child has to other children.  Kids in daycare will learn to cooperative play faster than an only child who stays home with mom (or dad)

I would like to see kids playing together, and I would love to see children interacting with babies...even just making faces at the baby.  I know my daughter loved talking to and tickling the baby and she was a toddler when I had my second.  There are alot of things I would like to see, being able to sit and hold the baby, being able to cook and talk on the phone, etc.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Go and get changed before you go walkabout! on: 2006 May 30, 15:16:55
sorry, I missed that part.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Go and get changed before you go walkabout! on: 2006 May 30, 12:35:14
Moniques computer, in the shop at home option, has a change clothing option.  You can dress everyone on the lot (including ghosts) in any clothing option.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ummm...are these the best she can do? on: 2006 May 28, 19:06:08
I make them selectable, and use TJ's college thing (the phone books) and finish each semester at the same time as my legacy sim (probably against the rules, but I don't like having dropouts)
then, after they graduate, I move them out first, into the simbin, then I move my legacy sim out, and have them move into the legacy house together, then I have them get married
