I want mine back as well.  It's such a pain building ponds without it!

It's nice? to know someone else is having the same problem.  Not that you have it, but I feel less alone now Smiley

No idea, but I have had it happen with different build mode tools. Once it was the fence thingy, and most recently the ground-moving tool. The arrow even moved. I'd played two sim-days without saving when I saw that one, it HURT to exit without saving, I tell ya. HURT.

I have lost my ground-moving tool circle thingies (shown in your pic) altogether.  I can't figure out why, or how to get them back either.

It is wonderful to know that Sleepycat.  I can only hope one day it'll finally work its way out of the system and there won't be any more problems.

You both are talking about the dress as a top mod, right? That was indeed a mess.

I still can't believe how people who warned against that mod were treated. It's definitely a great example for making people aware that even mods that are 'featured' on otherwise good sites can have major issues, and can cause major problems.

Yup, that's the one.  And thank you Veilchen, yes it was horrible for everyone who tried to point out the flaw. That is why I take such great care at testing anything new in my "test" neighborhood now before it goes into my real 'hoods.  The less headaches the better!

Lucky for me, because the first time I ever had a crashing problem, that was exactly what I narrowed it down to and three other people on LJ had the same file and the crashing.

This makes me so happy.  Not that you were having problems, but the fact that all that fuss we kicked up actually got attention to the problem and you were able to fix it.  Thank you!

Funny, that reminds me of the time when I was told "ohno, meshes for clothing cannot cause a problem ever!"  lol  I think we all remember how that one turned out *nightmare*!

It's amazing how the little things can cause the game to go all wonky.

Oh Ivy... Did you know that Zoo Tycoon has another expansion out? It's got Dodo birds and stuffs like that.

Nooooooooo!!!*headdesk!*  That's it, Santa *has* to bring me a new hard drive now!  *Imusthaveit!*  lol

LOL ('coz I did) Ivy, a fine friend you are.

But seriously, the screaming started right after the initial release of NWN2. The Bioware forums and boards were cluttered with pissed off people, and their posts came so fast and furious that the moderators couldn't keep up with deletions. (Hmm, maybe EAxis did research, after all).

I did a lot of research after finding out about NWN2 and BV, and it seems that SecuRom 7.2 and higher is the real culprit in all issues. It seems that anything before 7.2 is comparable to SafeDisc, and even SecuRom 7.2+ is considered benign compared to StarForce.

Maybe they did listen at Bioware. I hope so. I want NWN2, dammit.

Cheesy  Always happy to help you veilchen!

I missed out on the initial furor on NWN2.  Sometimes I suppose it's best not to know these things until way after the fact, eh?  lol

I'm dying to get the MOTB expansion pack though, though I'm not sure if I can squeeze it onto my hard drive.  Between both NWN games, Sims2 (+EP's up to Seasons), Stronghold 2, ZooTycoon 2 (+EP's), and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 (+EP's), I'm running out of room!  Maybe I should ask Santa for a new hard drive too while I'm at it.

Oh yes...the crashing...I'm sorry, I can't help much with that Sad .  Since you've uninstalled and reinstalled so much, you might want to run a defrag on your computer and see if that helps.  That's about all I can think of.

Here's another one for ya veilchen Wink

I have NWN2 (base only) and I have SecuRom 7.01.  We got the game within 2 months of release and have kept up with the updates on it.  No sign of 7.02 anywhere on my system.  So if it was there and they replaced it with 7.01, then I was never the wiser because I've never had any problems playing NWN2 and my computer hasn't gone 'spodie on me.

10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Term paper brokenness on: 2007 November 26, 23:16:51
Can anyone confirm whether influencing term papers is still broken under the Seasons patch?

There's a reproducible problem in the vanilla game where the ability to write term papers is lost if a playable sim is influenced to write someone else's paper.

I've had this happen recently, and I have up to Seasons installed (no stuff packs).

I didn't realize it was an issue, I thought it was merely my game being weird.  Thanks for bringing it up.

Morague,
I have seen that too where the 'ceiling tiles' end up at some odd weird height for who-knows-what reason.  I'm so glad you got it sorted out!

Sleepycat,
It's been my experience that I've been able to move/delete the lights on the non-existant ceiling tiles which is how I first figured out the problem.  Move the light one square over, and it was fine, move it back and poof it'd go out.  I'm sorry I can't offer any insight.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: house lighs won't turn on on: 2006 December 06, 16:11:39
Gah!  You can save a lot of trouble by using the level tool upstairs.

*pokes FrickinIdjit for being rude*

This isn't the first time I've mentioned this method on here of replacing the wayward ceiling tiles, and yet you are the first snippy reply I've gotten to this.  My method does work, even though it may take a few precious minutes of time to do so.  If you do have another way that works, speak up and offer some more details on how to do it and actually be of some help instead of wandering in rudely and making such snide remarks like everyone should just know what you're going on about.

And maybe that's not even Morague's problem either.  Do you have any other ideas what it could be?  I expressed my opinion based on the few times I've had lights not working.  If you have a different experience to share, that would be most helpful in diagnosing the problem and finding a solution.

Morague, whatever it is, I do hope you get it sorted out.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: house lighs won't turn on on: 2006 December 06, 14:01:27
Are they by chance ceiling lights that you are trying to use?

If so, check your 'ceiling area' by looking up in build mode, might need to go up to the next level, and making sure the 'ceiling grid' of white checkerboard outline is there.

For some reason, I've had this problem with the disappearing ceiling grid before, and none of the ceiling lights would work until the ceiling tiles were re-established correctly using a column from the build mode to reset every square of ceiling tile that happened to be missing.

Yeah...it was a pain in the butt to get them all back and I don't even know where they "poofed" to in the first place!

But whenever my ceiling lights aren't working, I always check the ceiling grid first now!

umm, wait a minute, will that affect those of us who only have harderjobs?

Well, according to the RTFM:  "Required for harderjobs."

You should have this anyway...
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: queue interrupts some tasks, why, can it be fixed? on: 2006 November 15, 04:54:01
It's always been that way (at least since NL), but you're not supposed to see it -- unless of course you have a camera mod that lets you zoom in real close. Smiley

*blink* *blink*

Doesn't everyone have a camera mod these days???

lol

Thanks for letting me know.  Yes, I do have a zoomer of a camera mod (a camera mod + Ivy tweaks on top of it...lol).  Didn't realize that was the root cause of not seeing the animations though.  How very odd, I really hate it when that happens...they must be dandy ventriloquists is all I have to say!

I can't imagine not playing with the cameras modded.  The default camera is lacking on so many levels.

Speaking of chess, is it just my game but why is it that when two people play chess, you can hear them talking, but their mouths don't move?

I don't know when it started happening, but it's been that way for a long while now, and I have no idea why...
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bodyshop on: 2006 November 11, 17:00:26
Well there ya go, yet another reason to be cautious of any CC clothing that you download...

I'll add that to the back of my mind for issues for folks to check for when they say such and such isn't working...grrr.

In the meantime, I think it's very clear that an update for the pets version of bodyshop is desperately needed for the issues mentioned here as well as there.

*Phew* Thanks JM for the answer Smiley Next time I'll wait til she's moved a bit further away before putting down a stuck object remover.  Her tail must've got caught in the crossfire...lol.

Why, oh, why do they insist on trying to go out the front door to play fetch when it's locked, when there's a perfectly good, nice open backyard for them to go play fetch in?

The same applies to going outside to go pee!

All of my dogs are housebroken, they go out back to pee.  Yet suddenly they've turned against me and have started peeing in the house again! What on earth? You can scold all you like, but it doesn't make a darn bit of difference.

So I tried to use the stuck object remover to start deleting the puddles.  And even though the doggie was not on the same tile, I accidentally burninated the dog Shocked  Dumb question time: will she come back and be by the mailbox if I save and exit? She's still showing as "known" to my simmies, but no longer in the household panel.  Yikes.

22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bodyshop on: 2006 November 09, 17:53:13
Definitely not alone with bodyshop weirdness after installing Pets.  Smiley  Haven't had your exact issue, but there's definitely something wrong with it.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bodyshop on: 2006 November 09, 17:21:30
The first time I ran Bodyshop after installing Pets, it took a long long long time to open (compared to pre-Pets of course).  Then I found I had an excess abundance of "glasses" that aren't actually glasses at all...do a search for that issue, it's still unresolved.

So do I think Bodyshop got borked somehow with Pets? You betcha.  It doesn't surprise me if you can't get it to work.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: All Maxis glasses missing ??? !!! on: 2006 November 06, 21:21:00
Nocomment, I posted about the hundred or so "glasses" that I have showing up here not too long ago in the thread about CAS and makeup, and no one else seemed to know what I was talking about, but it's this exact same issue.

here's the post

Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

Quincey cracks me up.  He's hysterical.
