Meh, I don't really care what the sims' floors look like. They're so easy to change (unlike real ones hehe).
Annan, I have. The magic to that is floor heating (golvvärme). Otherwise your precious feet will freeze off during winter. I'm dirt poor but had relatives who got floor heating just to have tiles. Funny you have tiles to keep cool Skadi. Unfortunately they get like twice the cold in winter which isn't as pleasant. Enough about tiles though ;P

I used to live in Sweden, having the same tiles in the bathroom and kitchen would be a no-no. Norm is white tiles (usually linoleum on the floor) in bathrooms and something else in the kitchen. Some kitchens only have tiles behind the sink area, like my mom's - the tiles are actually white but there's so few you don't think 'bathroom' when you see them. I never really thought of the tiles stuff but as much as I recall, I haven't come across a kitchen and bathroom with the same floor and/or complete wall tiles during the 14 years I lived there. I have probably come across linoleum being the same all through a house, usually older and not recently renovated. Eh, I think people are quite conscious about their houses and put a lot of thought when renovating. A friend of mine would probably rather die than have the same tiles in her two bathrooms.
Thanks, I'll try the magic light thing.

One thing I forgot to do is customise the lights to get rid of the white bloom. I usually pick a creamier colour and put in custom R/G/B values to soften the effect a bit. Could you please explain/share that bit? I couldn't help but to giggle that the sims in your house have the same tiles in the bathrooms as in the kitchen. My first question(s) if I saw that irl would be 'Did you buy too many tiles?'/'Were they on sale?'. Apart from that; I like the layout, much room but not too empty.

ZOMGWTFBBQ! I had to check what this Furry-crappy-crap Pets Pre-order was, I thought it would be some weird looking coats with fur on them. No sane person would make their sims wear THAT! *shudder* Though I did laugh out loud when I found the pic as it was totally different from what I thought... tickleonthetum, I can understand you to a point but what you fail greatly at is realizing this is MATY. While I myself don't post much I do lurk and download a lot from here. This is not a place that will bow down to your requests - more like the other way around. [...]it would be a lot better if there was one definitive, complete set, so everyone has the same and everyone knows exactly what to download and where from. It would make everyone's life easier[...]
Many people come on here and download all different versions of the same stuff then end up getting ripped to shreds for asking why it doesn't work, isn't compatibly with something they downloaded elsewhere or they are confused how to use it. If the files were standardised and combined (as Moryrie does up to a point) then it would make everyone's life, browsing and playing more fun! The part which I quoted is one big, huge fail. What's the next thing you are going to suggest, that all content creators upload their things to one site only just so you don't have to visit several sites to get the content you're looking for? The very basics here on MATY is RTFM - Read The Fucking Manual. There are numerous walkthroughs and guides here and on sites such as Mod The Sims which explains these things on very basic levels. If something fucks up their game for downloading things here, its their own damn fault for not RTFM. I know that none of the creators have to upload and share a thing with me, I appreciate the work they do and that they choose to share. I don't ask them to serve everything on a golden platter for me cause I can't be arsed to look for the separate downloads. [...] the person who bought the stuff really deserves more credit. Aye, true that. They sacrificed their monies so we can have more shiny crap in our games. A sacrifice for the community. Some of us would never be able to afford it, and some are unable to even if they could due to the Store not being available in their country. I think some time ago, some one calculated the total cost of buying everything in the store. Each time you download the freebie Store items, you save a big amount of money.

Thanks Anach. For some very odd reason, the link in the first post still doesn't work but the one you posted now does. The link on the first page has worked for me in the past and I can access all other mediafire links. Oh well. In case anyone is wondering why I want these even though I'll be installing Pets - in case I want to uninstall due to bugs and borked CC I just need to swap my mod folder. I see what you mean about the time now and between christmas. Every game company out there are aiming to release their game so it can be found under the tree, probably pushing the deadline so we'll get some extra bugs and crap Zed Pee Em, would you mind sharing the mods you have updated? Or if anyone else can? Yes it might sound like a piece of cake to edit it myself to you but to me its like fighting a horde of rhinos wanting to kill me. If Anach would be fine with anyone else uploading updated versions, of course.

I'm not sure why demoniod isn't picking it up. I guess I fail at making torrents.
I had no problems. I clicked on the mirror link and chose to open it in whatever torrent program I use (Vuze). Started at snail pace but its picking up nicely. Don't think it wanted to be executed but there was some green load bar thing at the start. I dunno, I trust this torrent at least hehe I prefer the torrent much more to picking up single, large files. Besides, Moryrie , I noticed you need to be a member of 4shared to download files larger than 500mb - thought to let you know as you uploaded these recently. I very much appreciate that you've collected the Store items in a few packages, it really does save a lot of work for others. I've been using them for a while. Its disturbing how they want us to pay for the game and expansions and don't include all content - seeing at one single expansion the new content really isn't much. Thanks again - I'd appreciate when you update that you offer the files as a torrent.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Extract objects and items from other games?
|
on: 2010 January 16, 23:20:15

I was wondering of there's any tutorial somewhere which explains how to extract objects, items and stuff from other games to Sims 2? I have seen objects from Fallout 3 and Morrowind. I'm curious of how this is done and maybe try it myself if possible, just that I can't find anything on how this is done.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting neighbours in AL to visit you
|

If you ask them to come out and you have a good enough relationship with them, they'll come out. Only thing is that they treat the public areas and the inside of your apartment the same - you might have to go inside and call them over to get them in.
Or are you meaning that you can't do things such as invite them by phone, or include them in guest lists for parties? Did you check and make sure the person has a phone?
The latter - its just as Sairsadel says =/ It's not just your game. Using the phone, I can get a Sim to invite another over from a neighbouring apartment, and they express the usual enthusiasm but don't show up.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Getting neighbours in AL to visit you
|
on: 2009 May 13, 21:47:30

I pretty much don't play families on lots with multiple apartments. The few times I tried, I got annoyed when I couldn't invite the neighbours over (to clarify: on the same lot - not neighbours on other lots). I kind of like the idea to keep friends and family on the same lot as neighbours, but having parties without them gets rather boring. Only time a neighbour has stuck around in the playable sim family's apartment is when they've asked the neighbour to babysit.
I haven't looked more into this and figure it would be better to ask others if this is how it works or if my game is messed up in some ways?

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Most worthwhile expansions and stuff packs?
|
on: 2008 December 11, 00:58:30
|
I have all the expansions and stuff packs. Im not really sure what I would consider the most worthwhile ones. I mainly stick with all the expansions and stuff packs as I like how the clothing, hair and objects fit the overall environment, which I for the most don't find CC doing. I also find that when downloading CC, I get a "more, more MORE" sickness so I try to keep with what I already have.
H&M Stuff is my favourite when it comes to clothing, however, it focuses mainly on female clothing. I really like Family Fun Stuff because of the beds and the pjs. Glamour life also has a nice set of furniture. Celebration stuff was the one I disliked the most, I rarely marry my sims under the arch so they never really wear formal clothes. Teen Stuff was fun, while Family Fun focused more on the kids, Teen Stuff has some nice items (and clothes) for your teen sims. IKEA was a HUGE disapointment for me, coming from Sweden and basically grown up with Billy bookcases and the like... I find all the items really ugly in the game. K&B made me drool - I really wanted those new stoves and fridges and I love the modern look. Haven't had M&G for long but so far, the only object I really like is the huge staircase which I will probably never use. There's also the Holiday stuff which I find quite worthless - unless you have Seasons and get Santa to drop by with some gifts every winter.
I rarely send my sims to Uni, because if I send one, they all want to go. And when they go, they want to almost max their skills - which I leave my sims to do when they're elders. I like NL - nice objects and clothes - even if I don't do the dating and the vampirestuff. OFB adds a new aspect to the game imo. It seems to me that it goes very well with Freetime. Kind of cute.. having stores where your sims have created everything themselves. Pets is as said by others only good if you really want pets for your sims. For the most part I find the pets annoying. Seasons added a nice touch - season activities and now actually those stuff from the holiday stuff pack came in use... BV doesn't change the game much but it does come with some nice objects, and it can be fun to have your sims go on vacation.
I haven't played BV and Freetime as much as I'd like, and I just got AL today.
I think in order to say which expansion packs are the most worthwhile, you need to ask worthwhile from which perspective. As I stated, I like the Maxis stuff. I'm not buidling much so I can't say which EP and SP are most worthline if you want more buildstuff. M&G I suppose is quite nice for that but most EP/SP add floors and walls not so many buidling options, none other than has already been mentioned that I know of at least.
Came to think of that AL has those spiral staircases.. but I found them somewhere else and had them before AL =]

I see. Thank you for your replies. I'd really love to see something that switches the perma-plat meter off entirely and lets the game be as before it was introduced... but that's what I'd like and well, I understand it might not be what everyone else also would like.
The idea you have Pescado seems to be closest to what I'm looking for. I hope you can make something out of it!
No one knows if the perma-plat meter is introduced in AL as well? (If you have the original game, I think it might say something in the manual if it is. Would really appreciate to know before getting it.)

I've been trying to find something that can turn off the perma platinum mood meter off ever since I got Hobbies (some months ago). I was unable to find anything at that time that worked. I tried with InSIMenator to turn it off and some mod I found here. I couldn't stand playing with it so the only option that I saw was to uninstall hobbies. I never play with aging off but I like to fulfill to sims' wants to make them have stuff to do so the bar filled way too quickly.
Thought to check if anyone has made anything to turn it off? All I've found is the SemiPermaPlat hack by Hook which isn't really what I'm looking for I think.
Also want to ask if Apartment Life comes with that annoying perma plat mood meter too? (that is if you don't have Hobbies...)

Hmm.. alright, I'll check it out. =/ SecuROM would have been removed when I failed to install BV the first time. That is, If it was a full remove.. or if some other game added it? I didn't have any problems installing H&M stuff, and that's with SecuROM and I never ran the game, just installedt and everything else at the same time. uh.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SecuROMJust looked there and we have Bioshock on the computer. oh well.. *sigh* I suppose its a scan for SecuROm and another removal then.

Don't know, got rid of it a while back as that was one of the suspects to why my game wasn't playable in the begiining, however, turned out it wasn't.
I'm pretty sure that it wasn't installed when this problem occured. Later, when I was clicking everything clickable on the CD, perhaps it got installed. Doubt that's the problem.. ?

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Autoplay not working on BV and FT

Hi all,
After some probelms with not being able to play the Sims 2, and later on some other games too, my family left in the computer at the store we bought it at. Came out that the mothercard and the graphics card didn't work well together and we gota new mothercard... pfft.. I'm now playing the game without any problems..
except..
I can't install BV and FT. I have searched a bit on here and on Google and seen a couple of others having the same problem but they haven't got a reply which has solved the problem (or no reply at all). What happens is that when I put the CD in, NOTHING happens. It doesn't read the CD. To begin with, the autoplay on the driver was shut off so I simply installed all the expansions by opening the CD file thingies and clicking the autoplay there. Didn't work with BV so I allowed autoplay on the driver again but it still wouldn't work.
Also got a free copy of BV to test with, in case there was something wrong with my CD, as well as Teen stuff pack and Ikea, but they all had the same problem. However Celebration worked, as well as every expansion and the older stuff packs. I have every exapnsion installed up to Seasons and Glamour, Family Fun, Holiday Edition.
Funny thing is that BV would install before, the same original CD, when I was unable to play the game but now it won't.
If someone can help me, or direct me to the right way, I'd be very thankful.

Its a family computer, or in other words- my mom's. Wish I could tell him that but I'm afraid I just can't do.I'll simply ask him to clean it in that case but I think he'll still deny me to install Sims on the C drive as he continues to say that won't make any difference. I don't like the lack of space either but I'm in no power to change that, him being older than me doesn't help at all... I'll just have to talk with my mother about it, she's surely going to try an convince him as she's bought some of my expansions. =P
Why should those filed be moved if My Documents is moved?

Alright, then they must be gone.
C drive is bigger than the D drive (298 GB compared to 136).. Its full though. Just about 8 GB left of free space. Nothing there is mine, only my brother's stuff and the computer's own stuff. Would it make a difference if I would place it on the C drive? I've asked my brother to clear some of his stuff but he refuses and claims that it will not make any difference.
Thanks for the cleaning tip, I'll talk with my brother about it as I'm sure I'd mess something up. I checked for SecuROM but couldn't find anything related to it.
