1  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / NPC Noises Are Stalking Me on: 2008 August 03, 02:31:34
I have had this problem for a long time and I am sick of it. In my rage, I went screwing with the sound settings in-game, but alas, it was no use. I have a noise or noises seemingly stuck on my lots. Let me explain.

I have various lots in a 100% custom neighborhood created following the amazingly Awesome tutorials and empty templates I found here at MATY, though this has happened on non-custom lots in previous games, too. Every time the gardener or nanny comes to my lot(s), the NOISE that goes with the car/truck/van/whatever STAYS on the lot even after said NPC is gone. I have found it's mostly from nannies. This is on and off, never consistent - but when it happens, it is extraordinarily annoying. It stays for at least 12 sim hours, then all of a sudden will stop.

To be honest, I don't know what noise it is. It could be the gardener, but it sounds like a mix between the gardener's truck and/or the helicopter. I have no idea.

So my question is obviously going to be if there is any way to get rid of this. I recently had to delete and regenerate my entire My Docs/EA Games folder because of some corrupt files, and that didn't solve this issue in new neighborhoods. I have mostly Awesome hacks, as well as some non-Awesome, but none conflict according to Paladin's Hack Conflict Detector.

If anyone needs more info, please let me know. I would love to be rid of the noise.
2  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Killed Custom Neighborhood on: 2008 July 05, 05:38:14
@jolrei: I did create a custom hood, and even attempted to put at least my character files back in it, and it still wouldn't show. :/ I think I am just going to start over. I regenerated a new The Sims 2 folder in My Docs, and am going from there.

Thanks everyone for your help. I just wish I knew what caused this bizarreness.
3  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Killed Custom Neighborhood on: 2008 July 04, 20:06:05
@Solowren: That is...very odd. I have no idea where the Hobbies neighborhood came from and why it's replacing things. :/

I attempted to load the newly generated The Sims 2 folder (from the rename of the folder) with my downloads in it and that was fine. All the default neighborhoods loaded correctly. However, when I attempted to add my custom neighborhood (N004), it wouldn't recognize and THAT'S when the Hobbies neighborhood appeared.
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Killed Custom Neighborhood on: 2008 July 04, 18:32:57
@jolrei: I deleted Groups.cache, didn't work. So, I renamed The Sims 2 folder in My Docs, and it rebuilt the hoods. I copied back in my Downloads folder and my N004 folder, and it's still not recognizing it. The game generated a new neighborhoodmanager.package file, and now a new neighborhood appeared called "Hobbies" that seems to be replacing Desiderata Valley.

@Kazzandra: Unfortunately, that was not my problem. Sad Everything in the N004 neighborhood folder is labeled N004. If only it had been that easy!
5  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Killed Custom Neighborhood on: 2008 July 04, 15:52:17
I have been playing FreeTime since it came out just fine. No issues whatsoever. No new installs of anything. I had a custom neighborhood that had custom names/terrain/lots/face replacements/the whole nine yards. Everything has been 100% fine. Now? My custom neighborhood is not loading in the Choose a Neighborhood screen, even though it's still in the My Docs/EA Games/Sims2/Neighborhoods/N004 folder.

For starters, I checked out this thread here at MATY. I am fairly pessimistic and feel that the suggested methods will not work. This is because I have no "working backup", if you will, of my neighborhood saved somewhere else. I haven't installed any new games/programs recently, so I didn't think I needed to (stupid, I know). So I am kind of at a loss.

This may mean nothing, but as I am looking in the N004 neighborhood files in the My Docs Neighborhood folder, there are a bunch of "Suburb" files. Ie: N004_Suburb001.package and so on up to Suburb005.package. I've never noticed them before, but it says they were created back in May and edited this morning.

Also, when I load SimPE and load my custom neighborhood, it says everything is "UNKNOWN". Bad sign? Sad

Any help is appreciated.

(PS...how can I prevent this from happening in the future, if I DO need to do a fresh install?)
6  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / MOAR Blue Flashing Shit! on: 2008 May 03, 16:19:23
I read the "effing blue flashing shit" thread down half the page, but it did not seem to solve my problemo. Hopefully one of you guys can direct me how to stop this craziness.

Before I start, let me say I have had this problem for YEARS, on five different computers and many different Sims installs. I am ready for it to be gone.

I have a family of elves. Yes, elves (more so Hyrule citizens with giant elf-like ears). I downloaded some elf ears from MTS2 or some other good freesite, and they work peachy keen. Then, all of a sudden, they start the flashing blue stupidity. I go "Change Appearance" in a mirror for a quick fix, but it never lasts through closing the game and starting it up again.

I tried the Lot Debugger, Fix > Flashing Blue > Sim, but that didn't really work. Well, no, I take that back. It DID work on my Sim(s), but then another object on the lot would start flashing blue when it wasn't before. Very frustrating.

Anyone got any suggestions as to how to fix this permanently? Or am I stuck in the flashing blue void for all eternity? Thanks.

Awesome. Now I can make my Twikii Island lots a little more native.
8  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lots of Random Fires: No Heat Needed! on: 2008 April 18, 17:45:46
I did what jolrei suggested by downloading new houses, moving my families in, and deleted the old lots. I believe it worked, considering I haven't had a single fire in 2 days of play. Smiley
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lots of Random Fires: No Heat Needed! on: 2008 April 17, 01:59:34
....and specifically, the same downloaded lot. That's what I was getting at. There's been a couple of occurrences of packaged lots with invisible fires being shared.
They are two very different lots. Two different creators, but both from ModTheSims2.com. I will try moving the families out and moving them to default homes. If that works, I will try new houses, I guess.
10  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lots of Random Fires: No Heat Needed! on: 2008 April 16, 23:13:59
You activated the invisible fires, apparently. That lot sounds really borked -- maybe it's time to move the sims out and bulldoze it.

I've had it happen on two lots, actually, in two very different neighborhoods (Pleasantview and a custom neighborhood). It's pretty bad.
11  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lots of Random Fires: No Heat Needed! on: 2008 April 16, 22:11:04
Get the Debugger. The last few times this happened they used the debugger and I believe they forces some errors to find a tong of invisible files all over the place. The debugger got rid of them.
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,11155.0.html

So...what exactly do I DO with the debugger? I went to Force Errors > On All. Instantly, two fires broke out: 1) under a coffee table, and 2) a sim who was at work was instantly brought back to the lot to be set on fire. I think I did something not good!

Instructions, plz.  Grin
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lots of Random Fires: No Heat Needed! on: 2008 April 16, 17:29:05
I have the following EPs: Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, FreeTime. I also have these SPs: Glamour Life, Celebration, Happy Holiday. All are patched EXCEPT FreeTime, because EA took it down. Haha.

I downloaded Sim Wardrobe's "No Random Bursting Into Flames" mod. Still didn't work: one of my Sims caught fire the instant they got out of the car returning from work. Hmph.
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lots of Random Fires: No Heat Needed! on: 2008 April 16, 15:49:21
I hate to bump a semi-dead thread AND double post at the same time, but I NEED SOME MOAR HALP PLZ. D:

The first thing I did to try and remedy this is remove any hack that had to do with temperature, including warmthfixes.package. I open the game, and within 20 minutes, someone is on fire. So, I quit, took out all non-Awesome hacks, and played again. Within 10 minutes the maid is on fire. I really don't want to have to resort to putting fire alarms and the sprinklers everywhere.

If I download warmthfixes.package again, do you guys think it will help this? I heard in Seasons people could easily catch on fire when they are hot, but these people aren't even remotely hot. Tongue

Thanks.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lots of Random Fires: No Heat Needed! on: 2008 April 11, 14:46:39
@Pescado: I did find it a little hilarious at first when my pole beans caught on fire, but when my Sim died of combustion in bed, I figured something had to be wrong. I ran the Sims Wardrobe hack conflict scanner thingy, and it caught some conflicts. I removed the non-Awesome hacks that conflicted, and so far so good.

@Sivany: Hm. I will try the Lot Debugger today, just to be on the safe side. I did remove non-Awesome conflicting hacks (as said above), so hopefully that will work.
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Lots of Random Fires: No Heat Needed! on: 2008 April 11, 03:48:33
Unfortunately, everything on one of my Sim lots randomly bursts into flames. My Sims, pole bean plants, trees, outdoor lighting, you name it. No lightning or heat required. Today, my Sim just got out of bed and burst into a ball of fire - in the middle of winter, too.

FYI: I do have the warmth fixes mod. Doesn't seem to help this issue.

Is there a hack that prevents all fires or all bursting into flames? I need to get rid of this combustion issue so I can actually play.

Thanks.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Teeth Outside of Mouth: WTF? on: 2008 April 10, 05:52:54
@jsalemi: I am using custom defaults by Lyholy of MTS2, as well as some other skins I got from various sites. I don't think it was the custom skintones at all. My male Sims have the same skintones as their wives or whatever, and their teeth were not denture-ized.

@Elvie: Hooray for someone else having ze issue! Try changing your graphic settings. I have default face templates, as well, and they haven't caused any issues as far as I know. It was simply the graphic detail set by the game.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pirate Ghost on: 2008 April 07, 06:11:50
I agree with you, croiduire. I wish my ghosts would do something...creative. I have thus gotten so bored and tired of regular ghosts, I simply delete all their gravestones/urns so I have none. All they do is go around scaring toddlers and waking people up. So yeah, Captain Dregg FTW.

18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Teeth Outside of Mouth: WTF? on: 2008 April 07, 06:05:04
@MsMaria: Thank you. I'm glad my self Sim could amuse you!

@eblair: I am using custom skins, but this was only happening on females, not males, and it didn't matter what skintone I was using.

@Pyromaniac: PMBD > TSR > Xandher > Krissy Hair Collection via RaonJena mesh

@Alexx & Ellatrue: Nope. It was actually something quite simple that I didn't think of until now. It was the damned EAxis graphics defaults in my game. I set the Sim character detail to "High" and it completely went away on my self Sim, and my other female Sims. Problem resolved. I still am curious, though, as to why the hell the teeth (yes the teeth as a shape) jumped out. Very odd.

I'm glad you all enjoyed Scary-Teeth-Haley while she lasted!
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Teeth Outside of Mouth: WTF? on: 2008 April 07, 00:43:16
The disease has now spread. It appears EVERY female Sim made in CAS (no matter what age or neighborhood) has this defect, including my own "me" Sim. Now for the photographic evidence:

^ Me looking very unfortunate with my teeth outside my mouth.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Teeth Outside of Mouth: WTF? on: 2008 April 06, 22:12:08
Unfortunately, the only time it is quite hilarious is during event sequences, IE: whoo hoo, baby being born, etc, and I have no idea how to get a picture during those.

The rest of the time it just looks like she has really chapped, flaky lips.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Teeth Outside of Mouth: WTF? on: 2008 April 06, 21:33:49
I just installed The Sims (and all EPs and stuff packs I have) on a brand spanking new computer. I made two Sims in BodyShop, then moved them into a house with CAS. One male, one female. Both turned out great in CAS/BodyShop.

When I moved them onto their lot, I saw some white shit on my female Sim's bottom lip. I figured it was some borked makeup or something, so I went to change her appearance. The white shit still wouldn't go away. Upon some further investigation - and the first Whoo Hoo scene - I see the white shit is actually her teeth. They are 100% outside of her mouth at all times. Pretty weird.

I'm wondering how the hell do I put her dentures/teeth back in her mouth? She seems to be the only Sim with this bizarre issue.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to make hobby leaders age? on: 2008 March 30, 21:13:52
@gynarchy: The entire "Propose" option was not available to my playable Sim when encountering the hobby leader on the hobby lot. So...yeah.

@cwykes: Ahhhh that would explain the not aging thing, then. I had no idea the tombstone would do that. Tongue I did not have a teleporter of any kind downloaded in my game; perhaps that was what I was missing? About the "Propose" option, no, my house only had 2 other Sims in it, so frankly I have no idea why the option was not available.

Thanks, all. I will try the teleporter bush (if needed) on a clean install of the game when my new computer arrives. Hopefully it will work.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / How to make hobby leaders age? on: 2008 March 27, 18:23:53
This was in my previous install of FT, and I was going to ask around here, but my computer quite literally broke. Oh well. I am still going to ask in case it happens again.

My main male Sim in my previous install was quite attracted to the Music & Dance hobby "leader" (for lack of a better word), Noelle. I found her quite pretty, and thought it would be nice if she moved in/got married/had kids/the whole deal. I found I could not move her in by Propose > Move In in any situation. So, to get around this, I used boolprop testingcheatsenabled true to add the hobby leader to my family.

Everything was fine, or so I thought. She had skills, she had hobby enthusiasm, could get a job, etc etc etc. The only thing that WASN'T fine was that she would not age. I tried turning aging off/on, restarting the game, and nothing worked. I suppose the easy way out of this is to just "Set to Birthday" whenever I want her to "grow up", correct? I would rather have her just age normally, though.

Is this EAxis telling me to not remove hobby leaders from the pool or what? My computer died before I could see if a new hobby leader was generated in her place. Hrmph.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Very, very nice. I will be downloading this ASAP. The recolors are quite lovely, too.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Oh no! There's another one! on: 2008 March 23, 22:28:10
I've never had another Goopy, but I have had plenty of Marylena Hamiltons in several installs of the game on three different computers. Very odd.
With me, it's Ivy Copur. I always get the mildly-tanned teen and dark-skinned adult, and occasionally another one appears somehow. I think I made the teen Ivy go to college once, and she was replaced by an identical teen.
I have had both of those Ivy's in every Sims 2 game I've ever installed. I find the fact that your teen Ivy was replaced by a clone very interesting. Hopefully I won't get any clones as I go through marrying townies. On second thought, if the two "new Goopy" sims I married in my game are cloned and regenerated, I surely wouldn't mind. He is attractive enough to help an ugly Legacy family of any race!
