TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Small Party Venue
|
on: 2015 March 12, 15:48:50
|
I wanted a place that was suitable for throwing parties, including weddings. I have been looking at MTS ++ to see what was available for download, but most venues are built on very large lots and I wanted something that was on a smaller lot. This place is built so the part towards the street is the narrowest, to make it suitable for placement in towns with a lack in space. Maybe this can be of use for some of you, too. The Party Parlour, $ 61.827, lot 20x30PictureWell, since the insert image option still isn't working, I have inserted links to the pictures instead, which of course is annoying More pics at the end. Book your next party and/or wedding at our magnificent Party Parlour. Success guaranteed! - Only with the appropriate Lifetime Reward ;-P For weddings, remember to buy a wedding cake! There is a designated table just by the bar. This lot is zoned as a Big Park - if you don't want Townies to use it as a public space to hang out, re-zone the lot to 'No visitors allowed'. When you want to throw a party there, you will need to re-zone it to Big Park before it will show up as a party venue. I have tested this lot several times with different parties; Regular parties, Batchelor Parties and Wedding Parties. It works very well. Beside wedding arch, the lot has ample restroom facilities and even 2 showers, if you get a couple of stinkers at your party lol. There is a professional bar, stereo, dance floor, buffet. One thing to remember is to put a check mark with "Exclusive Access" when booking your wedding, otherwise (because of uninvited visitors) you risk that your invited guests will find it difficult to get to their seats before the wedding; and also there will be problems with routing as the couple cuts the wedding cake. Other than that it works well, even for parties without exclusive access. Party guest don't seem to enter the wedding room unless there is a wedding taking place. I have built a "bridal suite" kind of room for those with inclinations, but you could also easily strip the room and throw in some games instead. Also the parking area, which will be used by party guest, could be transformed into a playground area or something, if you want to have something especially for kids. So, you have some flexibility with the design, if you need to. I believe there is only one CC included, which is a side table by Kissing Toast aka omegastarr82 on MTS http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=447606The download file goes into your Library folder. Enjoy. floorplanstreet/parkingentranceat night outsideinside 1inside 2inside 3Ok, I have no idea why the pics are all broken images. I copy the link from mediafire, click on insert image in my post and paste the link in. I don't know any other way of doing it and it used to work just fine. some help please.

In this package the mansard roof pieces, the tower and (I think, I'll double check and update) the deco curved stairs are not catalogued under object type, but in outdoors/lawn ornaments. Also the spider webs, chandelier chain and shutters should now stay after move/eviction. The only little issue I found is that when first loading the game the objects were visible even when playing a lower floor, blocking the view, but it seems that just removing them and replacing them fixes this, so let's say this is kind of "testers wanted", please report if you have any trouble. In any case I'd recommend deleting the compositorCache file. DOWNLOADThe link for this package is empty. Does anyone have a this package, where the roof pieces are showing in neighbourhood view, or can provide a working link to it? Thanks.

Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Empty world and homeless Sims trouble

With all EPs installed the game will spawn something like 50 service Sims and there's nothing that I know of to prevent this. Same with the Aliens and pets, unless you uninstall Seasons and Pets. With AwesomeMod the paparazzi, however, should only spawn if there are any celebrities in town.
50 service Sims, just like that, in a world emptied of community/residential lots!? I definitely recall seeing 2 paparazzi among the ones I saw and also a policeman - and I don't have any celebrities >scratches head< something must be off here, then. But what?

Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Empty world and homeless Sims trouble
|

Ok, I have made a world from the Sunset Valley Light version in CAW, where I have deleted all streets, street lights and buildings, as I want to play an empty world where only my CAS made Sims live - starting out with only two couples and slowly progressing from there. I use AwesomeMod and I have all EPs installed.
So, first I did "therapture", checking for any homeless, before placing my two families, story progression turned on. The next day I check with the console cheat "listhomeless" and I have Alien household 6, Arnett household 50, Pets household 47, Mermaid 0, Paparazzi 2 (I think this was all there was). WTF?! They don't all run around the world, but I have seen some of them running across the "plains" (tracking them shows they are "Going home" and they disappear into the ground somewhere). Some of them were Npcs like police, paparazzi.
Remember, I have no community lots nor houses at this point, it's all empty, except my 2 families. All the former community lots have been set to "visitors not allowed" and all former residential lots have been turned into community lots "visitors not allowed". To my understanding these Sims were only to be spawned when/if I have community lots that my Sims actually visit; or if one of my Sims actually were a celebrity or called the police, the whole npc role player thing…
So I tried again from scratch, again making sure no one lives there before placing the 2 families, this time with population set to 1 in the config. Same thing happened. So I tried again from scratch, this time with story progression turned off. Same thing. I have tried destroying these homeless households after placing my families, but that doesn't keep them from spawning. Is there something in the setup of Awesome mod that I am missing here? Because this isn't supposed to happen, or?

I'm not computer/game savvy, but one thing you could try is replacing your Awesomemod with a new one, including the config file. In the many years I have used it, I have on two occasions experienced that something had broken Awesomemod - don't ask me how that could happen, I have no idea, I just know that it did and replacing the 2 files I had with a new copy fixed the issue. Remember to delete the script cache file, too, once you have replaced the mod/config! Once you get back into the game, try to do Ctrl+C and type in fixall You could then, just as a precaution, do 'Save As' under a new name, then do 'Save' without unpausing the game first. This will have made a backup in your Saves folder of the game you just saved. Quit the game. Delete last save from your Saves folder and rename the xxxx.sims3.backup to xxxx.sims3 Now you can start the game and play that one and test if it works. If things don't go back to normal after that, something else is wrong. Probably another mod or CC you have downloaded doesn't work and you just have to do the usual, ever so boring, elimination dance. Or it may be because of the simporting. God knows what you can catch by doing that It would never occur to me to do that, so I can't advise anything there.

=== Is there any simple method to know the original .sim3pack name with the title at Sims 3 Store ?
If you place the .sims3pack in your downloads folder then open the launcher (by clicking on a launcher shortcut, not the .sims3pack file), it will show the file in your downloads folder and you can see what the store-name is. If the name is long, you can see the whole name by placing your cursor over it. You can then easily rename the file the usual way, if you want.

Same here... I don't even have the university expansion, yet my skills are so stacked that my sim went from level 6 to level 8 cooking just from making one meal. I used fixall, which made things normal for a couple sim days before it started bugging out again.
Yep, same here. I get notifications about my Sims having reached a new level all the time. Be it watching the cooking channel, making a meal, cleaning a shower, you name it, they all get insane amounts of "credit" for it. I don't have University either, I just have patch 1.50. This is killing the fun!

While I'm in a complaining mood; pepsihamster | On The Rise 1 - the sink in the bathroom stops the shower from being usable and the bed is only accessable from one side due to the chest of drawers. Even when you remove the chest of drawers the pile of cases/books/? at the base of the bed prevents access to that side.
Oops, sorry about that. I forgot to adjust the position of those 2 items after placing them. I was in a bit of a hurry when building; not a good thing - makes note for the future. To those who have downloaded the lot: If you want to keep the house you have, you can easily correct this by pressing the ALT button and adjusting the position of the items, further up against the walls like in this pic. Now Sims can use the bed and dresser as they are supposed to. You can delete the sink in the bathroom and place things like in the next picture. That solves the issue with the shower not being usable. If you are ok with not having a sink, just do as above and you are good to go. (Incidentally, I almost never have a sink in my poor Sims' houses.) If you want a sink elsewhere, I have made another version of this lot for you to download. It's the same as the one you have, I have only adjusted the placement of the dining table/chairs and the sofa slightly in this new version, to make room for that sink in the kitchen. Tested all items can be used! Here is the download link for the adjusted version (file goes into your library folder) http://www.mediafire.com/?cy5ch1cwkjs3g91This will make the lot comply to the challenge rules. But, either way this will disqualify this entry into the challenge, as one can't make any changes after the deadline. I'm ok with that, of course. It's still a good "poor-mans-house" for download.

I don't understand what you are trying to say. You say, you downloaded a new file of awesomemod but at the same time you say, now you don't have the mod any longer??
Any way, normally I just wait for the expiration to occur (= I can't start my game, I get a message saying I need to download a new version). I download a new version, delete the old and plop the new one into my usual awesomemod folder (which is in Mods/Packages/awesomemod). Delete scriptcache and start the game. I have never had it not work and I certainly never had to rearrange my folders in any way because of it. The only thing I can think of is, that you did in fact unknowingly rearrange something in your Mod folder setup/hierarchy this time around, so it doesn't correspond to what you have specified in the resource.config. And therefore the game can't see the awesomemod file any more.

Great colour scheme sites! I also feel that the restriction is mostly because of too few colours and that all wood had to be in a fixed colour, too. If there were more colours in a scheme and if one could therefore use different colours in different rooms, while they still belong to the same colour scheme, I think that would work really well. You would get a cohesive look, but not feel so restricted as it probably felt here. I like the idea of a colour scheme as such - if it's broad enough, I personally feel it makes decorating easier. So, don't feel bad about it jesslla. The idea was good and now we have some experience on what will make it work better.

I did another one. I thought, if it's small, it won't take long - ha,ha. This little house is for your poor Sims. CASt in the warm and cozy colour scheme; with deliberate attention to the worn-out design of the furniture and the house (and the cramped feel) which you might find in such a place, to create the right atmosphere for game-play. Has a tiny garden patch. pepsihamster | On The Rise 1 10 x 10 lot Un-wanded. Ok, my turn. With so many fantastic houses already shown here, I am getting quite intimidated. LOL It is only the 3rd time I build a house from scratch, so I am actually quite pleased with the outcome, although it was very challenging to say the least. Ofcourse, CASt-ing all the objects and building materials according to the colour scheme took ages. Half way through, my imagination failed me (can't you tell from the bunk bedroom?) I was acutely sick of purple at that point and that kind of put a plug in for me. (Where is the barfing smiley when you need it?!) Well, I got over it, sort of and here is the result. Download link to package file at the bottom (goes into your library folder). Built on a 20x15 lot in Riverview. This house is for up to 5 Sims: pepsihamster | Spring Wood 39. Wanded. Unfurnished price: 13.394 Furnished price: 21.062 Appraisal: "A quaint little home for those who value quality. Cheap doesn't have to equal lesser and this house could easily be the only home you will ever want, with its exquisite charm. A French/Italian inspired house that would also fit into and serve as a fantastic holiday residence in Champs Les Sims. A slight touch-up on the somewhat faded wooden exterior (has not been attended to for the past few years) will restore things to its original beauty. Apart from the walls that is. Either think of it as part of the charm, or live with it." I used the Elegant, Urban Purple colour scheme. I hope I have posted the pictures in the correct way.? Use one of these color schemes.
You may choose up to one more color for wood(s), but otherwise use one color scheme for the interior. Exterior can be any color(s).
Hi, I think I may have a go at this challenge. I need to clarify something (haven't red through the whole thread, so I apologize if this has been covered anywhere). I understand the colour scheme thing but what about paintings, clutter, lamps, you know small accessories - do they have to be in the colour scheme also or are those excluded? And the extra colour for wood; does that have to be the same colour wood throughout or can I use a different colour wood from room to room? I don't know if I over-analyse this, but I have never done a challenge like this, so I don't know how strict this all is. LOL

I only turn the notifications off. They just get that little icon over their head but it doesn't bother me.
It'll bother your game in a short while. Those yellow little buggers will multiply by the thousands, grow invisible wings in the dead of night and attack you like an aggressive bee swarm when because you least don't expect it. Watch out!

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Playing TS3 Supernatural without super-naturals
|
on: 2013 April 18, 16:48:31

I am pondering getting Supernatural, but I can't make up my mind about it. The thing is, I don't like playing super-naturals - I know, you think: why would you want a Supernatural EP if you don't like playing them. Well, I just don't (want to play them) and my thoughts about getting the EP anyway is, that there may be some fun/interesting game-play and/or things in it that I am missing out on which doesn't revolve around the SN beings. I know there are threads at MTS about the EP and what's in it and not, but as most of the users presumably don't use AM with their game, they wouldn't know how the EP plays with AM installed and I can imagine there could be some major differences when you have tweeked some features in the config. AM will probably have a feature to take care of the SN beings - so there won't be any. Plus a whole lot of other annoyance fixes and other stuff you read about the EP.
Could you shed some light on how the EP plays if you avoid all the gameplay involving SN beings, please? What's left and is it worth installing?

It was neither. Alpha and gamma mirrors link to the new AM while beta is the January version, and the Configurator links to the beta mirror AM.
Thank Goodness for that info. I didn't want to install the new 1.50 patch yet, but my AM just expired on me so I had to get another one. The beta link was a game saver for me. Yay!

I may not play the game as much as most people do but are any of the premium content objects items that people want to use? More of a rhetorical question, but feel free to answer if you feel compelled to do so. I just feel like EA hypes them up so much then when they come out they only really do one or two things that are pretty much meh.
It depends. Some of them I would only use occasionally but I like having them in the game. I am mostly interested in those items that can be used on a daily basis by several sims living in a household, like deep fryer or ice cream machine. The baby swing though, I don't see myself using - it's too cutesy, cutesy dumb in the long run IMHO. An air balloon I wouldn't want. Items that are supposed to stand there permanently and have a large footprint are usually a no-go with me also, as most of my sims aren't rich enough to provide the necessary space for those. Like the playpen coming out - if its 4 tiles, I wouldn't want it. Just to mention some random things off the top of my head.
