1  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Zoom and rotate camera stopped working on: 2012 August 29, 21:50:16
I am wondering if the sims has a preset key that restores a previous viewpoint? I vaguely remember you can set and return to viewpoints.

Use ctrl/4-9 to set camera angles. 1-3 are the speed controls, obviously, but you can use the numbers 4 through 9 to set your camera angle. If you set them in CameraMan Mode, they'll only work in CameraMan Mode, but if you set them during gameplay, they'll work any time. Once you've set an angle with ctrl/4, all you have to do is hit "4" and the camera will jump to the position you set. There aren't any preset default camera angles, though, so it's not something you could trigger accidentally.

3  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lot won't install properly on: 2011 August 31, 19:51:23
Something seems to have finally worked. Lot is now working OK, in with all my other CC.
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lot won't install properly on: 2011 August 29, 17:22:13
I can place the same items that aren't installing with the lot on it, and they work fine. Can't use the eyedropper on the stuff that's not installing, since it all shows up as the potted plants and statues that the broken CC was cloned from originally, so all that does is give me the original EAxis item.
5  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lot won't install properly on: 2011 August 27, 22:35:59
Yes on CEP.

Object recolors are of EAxis plants and flowers; everything else is a new mesh cloned from something EAxis. The CC shows up fine on other lots if I place it there, no flashing blue problems elsewhere. I just can't seem to get the CC to show up on the lot it's designed for.
6  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lot won't install properly on: 2011 August 27, 17:41:00
Yes, I still have Seasons. And the lot installs for other people who have a full complement of EPs and SPs.
7  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Lot won't install properly on: 2011 August 27, 02:12:36
Dicreasy, from Boolprop and LJ. It's a garden, and she does beautiful landscaping, and she did it as a favor to me. I installed the lot just fine on my old laptop. Worked like a charm. There is absolutely no malicious content on the lot at all, not even the phone hack sneaking in. The file I linked to is the one she sent me the first time, that installed then and doesn't seem to want to now.

And if it installed OK with Seasons, there shouldn't be EP compatibility issues with trying to install it running BV instead.
8  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Lot won't install properly on: 2011 August 26, 18:04:12
I'm having an issue with this lot. It doesn't want to install correctly. It doesn't matter whether I use the Clean Installer or just double-click the Sims2Pack, the same thing happens. The lot is mostly CC, and the CC all installs into the Downloads folder and shows up in the proper categories in Buy and Build modes. The lot itself shows up in the Bin in game, but none of the CC shows up on the lot, just a whole lot of flashing blue and BG statues the CC was cloned from. The same is true for the lot that was already placed in the 'hood when I switched computers--even with all the CC in the proper folder, the lot is completely stripped.

I'm playing with EPs through BV and H&M and TSS. The lot worked fine on my old computer, which was running through Seasons and H&M. I don't get any sort of error messages when I click the file, it just doesn't work the way it should. I've installed other lots without CC, and they show up just fine.

This is sort of an important lot that I need rather badly. I didn't build it in the first place and I'm not sure I can recreate it from the pics. Any help would be much appreciated.
9  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Name replacement mod on: 2011 May 20, 15:14:02
There are a few of these floating around, but I wanted one of my own. To use, download file, unzip, and put in your Downloads folder. It can be subfoldered, but not renamed. It's really only going to work if you have a blank Pleasantview template, which can be found on the stickied thread at the top of this forum. Also, the mod is only enabled for English games (American and UK) so as not to be unreasonably large.

Random sampling of names generated:
Female: Adara Richards, Aleah Hamm, Eden Marie Hart, Hope Dresden, Irene Giordano, Jane Winchester, Julia Pierce, Lara Astor, Lea Franklin, Melanie Brosnan, Melinda Redgrave, Michelle Estevez, Pandora Truman, Rachel Jones, Summer Idle, Tabitha Chamberlain, Tallulah McKinley, Tara Brady, Tatyana Rossi
Male: Ace Jackson, Alexander Kilroy, Cole Willis, Corey Kincaid, Darien Marshall, Devon Gibson, Hugh Penn, Jericho Keene, John-Paul Bach, Joss Allen, Julian Hill, Lance Barrymore, Louis Potter, Luther Greene, Merrick Holmes, Miguel Storm, Remy Woodward, Saul Laughlin, Stephen Simpson

The names are largely culled from American and British census lists, but there are plenty of names from other cultures for variety, including surnames. Also for variety, there are a (very) few nerdy names like Gandalf, Buffy, and Fox. In all, over 120,000 possible names for each gender.

If the attachment below isn't working, mod can be found HERE.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Failed to find directx 9 compatible adapter on: 2011 April 04, 19:08:39
I'm having the same problem. Where do I need to move the no-CD crack to, to get the game to load without the DirectX 9 error message? Right now, it's in the TSBin folder, per Zazazu's instructions in the SecuROM thread. Downloaded from Gamecopyworld, Fairlight's crack, also per Zazazu's instructions in the SecuROM thread.
11  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nanny simply will not leave lot! on: 2010 August 29, 17:36:17
Someone who had a stuck nanny fixed it by Shooing her.  That somehow reset the "GO AWAY" portion of her coding.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Still planing with TS2 anyone ? on: 2010 June 06, 02:54:59
I still can't get past the doughy, boneless look of the TS3 Sims.  I don't have it and can't run it on my computer, but I have not experienced overwhelming sadness about not having it.

The thing I miss most from TS1 is the gnome-making bench (and the gargoyle-making bench, I suppose).  One of my favorite things to do was to make them make gnomes until they were in multiple motive failure, then let them eat, pee, and nap, then back out to more gnomes until they were in multiple motive failure, and after a couple of days, when you let them sleep, they'd have nightmares about making gnomes, and wake up with little "gnome" thought bubbles.
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Disappearing sims... on: 2010 March 03, 00:11:53
If you have Sims that are invisible and no longer showing up in SimPE, the neighborhood's pretty much gone.  If you have a recent backup, you can try reverting to that to see if the character files are still intact in SimPE.

Sometimes you can get incomplete save errors, like a household doesn't save properly and the Sims become corrupted.  There's not really anything you can do to prevent that from happening.  The three things you can do to totally kill your neighborhood are to use the DeleteAllCharacters cheat, delete Sims from the Sim Bin, and move occupied lots to the Lots & Houses bin.  Those are the big three things to never, ever do, so if you've done one of them in this neighborhood, that's probably why it's corrupted now.
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: GSC has been hacked on: 2010 January 17, 23:05:54
The simsecret hacking over at LiveJournal has also been linked to Atwa/TSR, mainly because of IP similarities and the fact that the only posts that were deleted were ones with anti-TSR secrets.
Do we know who had the account and if that person had an account on TSR with the same password?

I don't recall which of the former admins it was (sinthe, maybe), but she did admit at the time that she'd used the same username and password on TSR.
The IP info is here.

Simsecret posts regarding the hacking are here and here.
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: GSC has been hacked on: 2010 January 17, 01:01:21
A complete list of all the "TSR linked" attacks could help shed some light on this, the ones i know of are Buggy, Bluesoup (petition), Scotty and Witchboy.
Did i miss anyone?

Thanks for sharing those pictures.  Rocky makes me think of a muppet, a mean muppet, obviously.

He only has one Nice point, but he is actually pretty mellow.  Mostly, he just makes the obligatory "mean Sim grouchyfaces when having a conversation."  Unlike his nephew Archie, he never just randomly went off on anyone.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Facial genetic strangeness on: 2009 December 13, 20:01:44
He was a sad panda for a while, but he was also a Family Sim, so there was a certain amount of YAY BAYBEEZ!!1! involved once the initial trauma had passed.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Facial genetic strangeness on: 2009 December 13, 04:24:44
MEAN faces are so much better than nice faces. Just look at La Butt's avatar.
Your wish is my command.

First, Helen, or proof of why extracting and gender-swapping Loki Beaker and playing her to Elder is an AWESOME idea.

Necrotizing fasciitis is all the rage in Paris this year.

Helen's son Morocco, with the sadly apropos nickname "Rocky."

He does, in fact, have eyeballs.  Trust me.

The Little Bastard!

"Monkeyboy" Xander!

Fair and the Uglacy Boys!

Safe to say I have had my fair share of sour expressions.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Facial genetic strangeness on: 2009 December 12, 19:39:12
And some day, that face will be doing the Maxed Nice Creepy Smile.  Just like two of his three brothers.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Facial genetic strangeness on: 2009 December 05, 19:33:59
Archie was the best ever.  He should have a spin off.

His current spin-off is "Marco!  You don't need to be doing things outside after dark!  Muahahahahahahahahaaaaa!"  *scare* *scare* *scare* *scare*  "Had enough, eh?  See you tomorrow!"

And I cannot be mad at him, not gonna lie.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Facial genetic strangeness on: 2009 December 05, 01:27:11
I haven't noticed any random face templates ending up in the mix, although several of the spouses had stock templates (Sandy Bruty-face, Carmen Patch-face, Remington London-face).  It's been pretty clear-cut as to which feature has come from which parent.
For instance, Tess:

Eyes from the PolliTech, nose from Granddaddy Landgraab, lower face from Xander/Coco/Cory/Rosemarie (who had the Remington London-face to start with).

And Archie, the Oddly Hot Little Bastard: Daddy Landgraab's brows, and a whole lotta Pizza Guy face, with a soupcon of Loki Beaker.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Facial genetic strangeness on: 2009 December 04, 19:45:21
No idea why.  I'm assuming that you haven't added any hacks since this happened?

In CAS, if you make parents and generate kids, are their facial features blending?

Nope, no new hacks aside from Wear Anything While Pregnant.  And I'm only running up to Seasons, so AFAIK, there's no issues with using the Squinge version of that.

And in CAS, I'm getting feature blending, which is why I chose the spouses I did.

Do you have faceblend limits off? I'm wondering if what you are noticing is the game's default behavior of blending faces to whatever it decides is the nearest template equivalent.
Don't have faceblend limits off.  This is the first time I've had this problem.  I finally did get a kid with a mix of his parents' features, it just took me forfuckingever.
Basically, I got three of these:

Except that Vex is blonde and Howie and Abel are black-haired.  That face is 100% Brad the Hippie.  Mom Tess has genes from the default PolliTech, Malcolm Landgraab IV, and Remington London the Pizza Guy, and I wanted a kid with some of those.  Happily, that happened with youngest spawnlet Stevie:

Brad the Hippie's crazy baggy eyes, and Tess's Landgraab nose and Pizza Guy mouth and jaw.  He also inherited her ten nice points, so I love him already.

Brad the Hippie is an Ottomas.  They are Uglacy GOLD.
23  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: TSR HAS DOXED YOU! on: 2009 November 30, 02:19:57

24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: request tec help with storytelling. on: 2009 November 29, 23:08:00
Not sure about the first part of your question, but I'm good with pose/animation hacks.  The options offered by Paul's Reaction Tester are fairly limited.  If you're looking for in-game animations, use Decorgal's Sitting/Standing/Action hacks, and her Model Pose Hack for face overlays (expressions).  Aikea Guinea has two hacks HERE and HERE that have a lot of the standard animations, and Jaydee has EP-specific animation boxes HERE.  If you want non-game poses, GOS has a list of the various poseboxes HERE, but a lot of them are hit-and-miss as to quality and content.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Facial genetic strangeness on: 2009 November 25, 19:20:37
Is there any reason for the game's genetic engine to stop meshing the facial structure genetics of both parents in the children?  What I mean is, with all the kids I've had this generation (so far, 5 in the main houses, 8 outside of the main houses), the kids all seem to be facial clones of one parent or the other.  They're not combining features from both parents; they're just younger versions of one.  Hair, eye, and skin color genetics seem to be working as normal.  It's not always the SAME parent, either.  And it isn't First-Born Effect except in one case; the personalities of the kids are different (widely different, in some cases).  The last birth, I randomized, and got facial-clone twins of their daddy.  In my Uglacy in particular, I WANT a kid with some of the features of both parents, but I can't seem to make that happen in ANY household this generation, and I just want to know if there's some reason why this is happening.

Edit: I can post pictures of the problem if that would help.

More edit: I've checked in SimPE, and it's NOT a case of one parent's genetics being totally dominant.  In my Uglacy, Mom has more dominant genetics than Dad, but all three kids are clones of Dad, despite randomization.
