TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More bullshit from Massive Shithead

Sheesh.
No, my job as a cashier is *not* to take shit from you. It's to sell you stuff. It's to return your stuff, assuming it follows policy. Anything else gets a manager, and they have to deal with it. If you're abusive enough, i'll call the emergency call, and have you thrown out of the store. I don't get to make decisions about stock, and I don't care sufficiently about you to break the rules, where I could lose my job for it.
Cashiers are trained on dealing with angry customers, and can also invoke the Supreme Right To Refuse Service. I hope we never lose this!
With my consumer hat on, though, i can't see why anyone buys the games from actual shops, when they're barely at beta-test status. But I wouldn't bother to take it out on someone who can't do a thing. I'd also suggest writing an email to corporate (of the shop)- that does way more than a screaming rant. Assuming you don't lie, and exaggerate the problem, of course.

Welcome back, Dizzy! Didnt realise i was being so closely watched. I mostly keep the ubuntu stuff pretty quiet. Anyway, no, i dont have a job there - in that i dont get paid. yet. hopefully that'll change, once i get a bit more into it. Anyway... Yes, i got MOTU And it's very useful. Upload rights are fun! Oh yeah, and Hello everyone! I'm in chat more than forums - i tend to avoid forums. Oh, and Pescado, that's the done list, the to-do list is somewhere else, and is incomplete. Silly Pescado.

Isnt there something about the newer EP files not being compatible with the original sims?
I could have sworn there was a message in university about how the files would be changed, so they wouldnt be compatible with just the vanilla sims, with no expansions...
Not sure about the later EP's though, as i dont have them...

Hey Inge
Just thought i'd say hello, and thanks for all the hard work.
I understand your situation exactly, and am contemplating the same thing myself.
It's certainly not easy to know what to do...
*hugs*

you might want to hope that it starts to work in cedega - not sure what the latest on that is, but i think the installer semi-runs, and the game doesnt run.
My laptop is a tripple boot machine, windows XP (not connected to the internet, games only - runs so much better with all the needless services removed!), kubuntu breezy, and a development release of kubuntu as well - quite interesting, really!

17 here...Now I feel massively young! I dont admit to playing the sims in real life - or creating the sims attic either! Pity one girl had to mouth off about it, and tell many members of my grade about it....grr! First started playing computer games when I was pretty young - not sure what age. Had an old crappy laptop since around 1999 or so, give or take a year - the only way to turn it off was to hit fn+power button, and wait. Used to love playing lemmings and treasure mountain on the old computer Only person i've met off the internet in real life is Ness - yes, the one who has already posted in this thread. It's a little hard to meet up with anyone else, as much as I would like to, because they're usually on a different continent...

There is absolutely no need to host a paysite. I've hosted my own FREE website that has 10+ gig of downloadable content for about a year now. I use a free server called hostultra due to its free nature it has "some" popups but with the xp sp 2 popup blocker i don't even see them. As for the content itself i use servers such as 35mb.com and rapidshare.de which are good for the kind of stuff i host.
I definetly agree with you! I used to use hostultra, and then found that there was various lots of spyware that was coming with their popups (i never saw it, using firefox, but I know other IE users did) I use sites like ripway.com for objects over 1mb, and www.funpic.org to host Sims Attic. ( www.simsattic.r8.org - no updated sims 2 content though) Funpic's useful, if you ever need to move your site...

This would be a very useful hack...
Although I know it would be pointless to do it now, right before nightlife is released, and breaks a lot of the current coding. Any chance it could happen after all the previous hacks are updated for nightlife?

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Review of the Sims2 Content Manager
|

I can't believe no one else has mentioned this yet...this custom content manager comes in a zip file!
I'm stunned that they put forward this custom content manager thing in a ZIP FILE, when the people who are silly enough to download off the exchange (therefore needing it the most) generally cant open a zip file to save their life anyway...What happened to the idea of self opening downloads, like all the others off the maxis site? If compression's an issue, why not compress it, then write a self-extractor for it...i'll never know
Apart from that, it seems like a much slower and more inconvenient version of the clean installer...which makes me wonder what maxis would attempt to create if they ever did a program to edit objects...
