There are other forums, one of which you have already been given the link to earlier in this thread. Keep looking until you find one that feels like a good fit for you. As for the secondary aspirations, like I said earlier I don't have Free Time so I don't have experience with those issues specifically but it does not seem likely that using a functionality as it was designed to be used within the EP should in itself cause problems. However, the game trying to calculate attraction score and throwing errors is a well-known result of coding issues in one way or another but I'm certainly not qualified to say exactly how that is occurring. I'm not sure from reading your posts, but at some point did you actually remove every hack and piece of CC from your game? You said you removed downloads, removed hacks, updated hacks, etc., but at some point did you try just a plain vanilla game? And if you did, did the errors still happen? If you haven't tried this, you definitely need to. Also, is your game patched?

No, I don't Simmerqueen. I don't even know what that is, to be honest. It's a mod (wants/fears sanity) that helps to stomp some of more annoying wants and fears, for ex. the want to play with someone who isn't present, or the fear of being caught cheating when there is no history of such, etc. It's a nice annoyance remover, but not one of my personal must-haves. You'll find the longer you play that certain things you just can't tolerate in game-play while the next person will barely be aware they are going on. You probably didn't need to kill off your Sim (unless you're into that ), as there is usually a solution to most problems if you are patient, ask enough questions and provide enough info for people to go on. As to the "why" of things happening in this game, it isn't always possible to know because everyone's experience varies so widely according to your configuration, CC, and what planets are in retrograde this week . For example, the Numenor coatrack that half the free world uses in their games with 0 problems nearly destroyed a 4-generation hood of mine not too long ago. Go figure...

I have also had the option to "Encourage" in the same area (activity, etc.) with the same two Sims where I have not had the option to "Macro..Encourage". It seems to me (haven't looked in a while) that it may have been related to relationship scores - maybe higher ones get the macro option and lower ones don't? You're definitely right about the regular "Encourage" option though - it is a major drag. This mod is the only way to go.

So far, in my test hood, my volunteer family just had their 7th baby with no missing infants (tho the most recent double transitions - a new teen/new toddler - were back in their previous ages bodies when i returned to the lot). A weird occurance happens (tho it doesn't happen to all of the borked transitions now nor in the past), for this borked toddler, all of the baby bottles and smart milk bottles she had in her inventory, were borked, tho the borked teen's inventoried smart milk bottles were okay. Sorry you are having so much trouble, I know how frustrating it is. If your teen/toddler are back in their previous age bodies then still nothing is working obviously...what a bummer. I personally didn't even know that you could put smart milk already made up into inventories as I usually just put the machines in, but now I will try it and see if it works for mine or if it screws up.

i went in to Pleasantview and played the Brokes to check if everything was okay. Completely empty Downloads folder (no CC/hacks). Grew Beau up that first evening to a child. The next morning at 6AM, after everyone woke up, i saved/exited the game. Returned to the lot and Beau is now borked. His icon shows him as a toddler, but he's stretched out to child sized. Any ideas of where i need to start to pin down where on my computer i have the problem, how to find it, how to fix it? The way it's going now, it's a crap-shoot on raising children/playing the Sims2. I had this exact problem but it was due to the Numenor/Marylou clothing rack that wasn't playing nice with my game for some reason. I even had weird stetched-out babies walking around and toddlers doing homework, as well as Sims of all ages spontaneously changing hairstyles/clothing (reverting to previous selections, not just random new changes)! I know you said no CC, but check to see if somehow some CC has landed in your regular game folder, because that is what happened to me and when I eliminated my Downloads folder I still had the problem so concluded it wasn't due to CC! I was just about to trash a 4-generation hood when I noticed that the clothing rack was still in my game, just not in the Downloads folder. The day I removed this clothing rack all my problems stopped and have not recurred for at least a month now.

- A mod, that enables romance-interactions between young adults -> teens, teens -> adults and young adults -> adults (Hey, people in real life have older/younger girlfriends/boyfriends, so why not sims!) TwoJeffs (his site is called Simbology) has a teen/adult attraction hack that works beautifully along with his ACR (Autonomous Casual Romance, as has already been mentioned). You won't see the romantic options under the regular menu (and there will be no attraction lightning bolts showing on the relationship panel), but they will be accessible through the ACR menu (under "Casual"). This particular one does not allow teen pregnancy, but that does not appear to be what you are looking for.

But I did download my first TSR stuff not too long before I started getting the weirdness, so the lightbulb just went off.
You mean ON? Downloading things from the booty won't be an option for a lot of items. Plus it was already suggested in the thread. But it looks like the entire process is incredibly complicated. Oh yeah, that wasn't exactly phrased correctly, was it? I'll stick with the booty - I'm not a CC addict (yet ) so there's nothing I need badly enough to risk messing up my game or having files attached to it that I don't know about.

And I'd like to know more about this weird TSR tagging. How can we know if our downloads are infected, and how, exactly, can it be removed?
Me too... Could this content that is tagged cause serious errors in the game? I read the "limited potential for damage" part of the thread, but am not sure what type of damage is referred to. I have been having a weird issue with character files disappearing lately (lost two kids already) and am in the process of narrowing down what could be causing it. But I did download my first TSR stuff not too long before I started getting the weirdness, so the lightbulb just went off.

I think the "Call Friends" and "Call Family" options are only available if you click on the Sim, not on the phone.
Yup - they moved. In base game, the options were on the phone. Now they are on the sim mixed up with the cellphone menu options. So does this mean if the Sim doesn't have a cellphone the options aren't available for that Sim?

The selected sim is the one doing the "making selectable", so you sill see his/her face. You're doing it right, but chickening out at the last click.
OH! Duh... why did I not remember that from my first try??? Anyway - thank you - I was completely at a loss but now it makes perfect sense. *trots off red-faced to not chicken out*

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Testingcheatsenabled "Make selectable" question
|
on: 2008 March 03, 16:38:40

I think I am having a "Senior Moment" I know that I used testingcheatsenabled (Sorry about my previous reference to "boolprop" in another post - I now know that's a no-no! ) once successfully to make a visitor selectable so that I could find out why my adult Sim was not getting the option to "Propose - move in". Turned out she was a uni student... Now, when I have a visitor (and once when I tried to force an error/reset on a stuck baby) and try to use that cheat, the selected Sim in my household icon list is the one that comes up with all the options (including "make selectable" which of course they already are!) even though I place the mouse over the visitor until the correct name shows, then shift-click on them directly. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong? I did a search on-site for "boolprop testingcheatsenabled make selectable" but was unable to turn up anything that applied. (I'm typing the cheat in once I am already in the household, but I know that's what I did the time I was successful also) To be completely clear, this is what I typed: boolprop testingcheatsenabled true. Then I hovered the mouse and shift/clicked on the visitor.

for stuck sounds, have you tried nuking the spot where the item in question was? Sometimes there can be a "sound emitter" or something that gets stuck on lot invisibly.
What do you mean by "nuking the spot" where the item was? Let me know and I'll be glad to try it because I haven't managed to solve the problem yet.

Is the AutoYak updated for stuff packs too, or only the phone hack? I ask because when I looked on Friday the phone hack shows a most recent update date of 2/2008 in your list of hacks but the AutoYak still shows a 2007 date.

Logically, if a girl were self-inseminated, she would only have girls as there is no Y chromosome to donate. 'Cause, ya know, that's possible right now.
Logic doesn't always have much to do with it when it comes to EAxis though, does it?! Anyway, I know it wouldn't work that way in "real life" genetics, but I read that in Sims2 if you impregnate someone with themselves using the spawn cheat (or Sim Modder??) that they will always have an opposite sex child (don't know why or if it's true) with their own hair/eye/skin color because all genes for those things would come from them only (makes sense). I haven't tested it myself though as I haven't done much with all the boolprop cheats yet... I have also read that other people have had Brandi give birth to a single boy, not twins.

I blame Venusy. He thinks this is an effective way to bait people into reading the FAQ. I think it just cuts into our ability to rightfully heckle people who don't.
Maybe the baiting would work for some - I guess my brain just tends to slide right over phrases that have no meaning for it! And now that I DO know where they are, no more excuses for me. Anyway, I am sure I will give (have already given??) you plenty of other reasons to heckle me...

I have only one set of natural twin boys (born to one of my CAS Sims' daughters and Dirk Dreamer) who appear to be completely identical. But if anyone hasn't played Brandi Broke yet in their game, I played her recently for the first time and had her eat cheesecake (she has enough cooking skill points to make it) and since she is already pregnant (by herself, as I understand it, so she can have only boys) she will have twin boys who I would imagine can only look identical since they are opposite sex clones of her. Anyway, mine look identical (different birth signs, though) and are adorable!!

Instructions on getting and posting an error log are in the FAQ. It also lists the various posting ranks.
Thanks - sometimes searching out so much info so fast makes me overlook the obvious...course, it might be a little easier to find the FAQs if they were listed as such, instead of "Spore Torrents...". On the plus side, Sims2 is motivating me to learn more about my computer.

If you get errors/resets on mouseover, I require a log. Otherwise, nothing useful can be done from that info.
1st - I read on the firing range that you fixed the version switching error (which I think applies to me although I don't know what OOB means). Thank you so much for spending your time to make the game so much more playable. Is there anything new I have to download, or just use the one I have and now it will work? 2nd - By "phone annoyances" I meant those inherent in the game, nothing to do with the hacks, sorry if I wasn't clear. 3rd - I really wasn't kidding in my very first post when I said I was totally non-awesome. I don't know what an "error/reset on mouseover" means or where I would find a log. Possibly by playing with boolprop on - just a guess... Guess I won't be losing my "Asinine Airhead" designation any time soon...

The Seasons expansion is well worth it and shouldn't cost too much on E-Bay (mine was £10 incl p&p) now that there are two later expansion packs out. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Thanks for your input - I may end up buying Seasons. I am not opposed to getting it, I'm just not sure how many EPs my system will run. In the meantime while J.M. Pescado is taking a look, I removed the Phone Hack and AutoYak and my game is running perfectly again - if you can call it that with all the phone annoyances!

Call Friends/Family is a functionality provided by the AutoYak, not by the Phone Hack. Looking into the Call Drop, since the OFBp2 Phone Hack is teh same phone Hack as every version since then, but H&M may be throwing a monkey-wrench into the version detect.
Thanks so much - I was confusing the functions of the two hacks. I'll gladly uninstall H&M if I have to in favor of your hacks since the phone drives me crazy with the stupid "You haven't called" and I have been dying to have the hacks in place for this (Phone Hack) and to help w/friend/family maintenance (AutoYak). I think I have it straight now... Looking forward to your additional input.

I replied in your other thread but I don't mind repeating myself.
Call Friend and Call Family only show up when you click on the Sim, not on the phone. Can't help with the rest, sorry.
Edit: Could there be something keeping the sim from reaching the phone? If it's blocked by something it will fall out of the cue
Thank you! Since I haven't used the phone hack before I didn't know how to access those. Can you click on the Sim at any time and get those options? Good suggestion - I checked and there was nothing blocking it. Actually, I originally tested it in a few different households so I was pretty sure that wasn't the case.

H&M doesn't use the OFB engine. Try another version of the phone hack, perhaps Seasons?
Those are features. Sims will no longer bother you if they don't plan to actually converse. Relationship scores are kept high to make it easy to get and maintain friendships without calling the same sim over and over when Social need is maxed. Tell them to hang up if the call is taking too much time.
So even if I'm not running Seasons I might need the Seasons version of the phone hack because of H&M? Great, that means some features are working and if I get the correct version I might be okay.

Okay, me again (BTW how do I get to go from Asinine Airhead to Corpulent Cretin? I like that one better!! ) I run UNI, NL, OFB, H&M (most recent, running from this disk). Have teleporter shrub, stay things shrub, and collegeclock - no CC. Just installed phonehack and autoyak (OFB version) and the following things are happening: - Sims can't dial out for anything, but they can receive calls. - When I click on call Sim, the action joins the queue briefly, then drops out. - No menu items appear for "Call Friends" or "Call family", but the one to set the ringer is there - I am not getting the "We haven't talked in ages" annoying calls and when family/friends call the Sim will continue the conversation until the relationship score hits 100. One thing I'm not sure if it's related: Teen was invited to community lot, went and met date, decided to go steady, bought clothes, etc. Called the taxi to go home - she could place the call but when the taxi came she did not recognize it, the action didn't join the queue and I couldn't click on it for her to get in. Had to exit and lose progress to get home. Any ideas? The other hacks I mentioned are all working fine. Thanks in advance for your help.
