TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Bugs in WA

I was having the problem with the travel days not counting down until I moved AwesomeMod from the WA directory to the TS3 one. I have no idea why that fixed it, but it did... for now, anyway. I probably jinxed it by telling you.

It seems to me that we judge females more harshly than males when it comes to physical appearance... Ah, yes. I wonder when that started. Okay, I presume you're making fun of my post. My excuse: it was 7am and I had not slept in over 24 hours. Next time I find myself in that situation, I will lurk moar. Anyway, I thought of the perfect example of TS3-style genetics in real life: Rumer Willis, daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. See? Sometimes genetics do work like that in the real world. Edited for clarification.

I may be wrong, but I don't think she was calling you mean-spirited, OpiumGirl. She said it reminds her of mean-spirited, shallow people in real life. I think I know where she's coming from.
It seems to me that we judge females more harshly than males when it comes to physical appearance, and we're so conditioned to it that we don't even notice this glaring double standard. People continue to point out "fugly" girls and women in TS3, but so far I have yet to see one person complain about the looks of the guys. It reminds me of high school when everyone seemed to think that ugly was the worst possible insult you could throw at a girl; apparently, I was the only one who thought that stupid and boring were far worse.
Even in a virtual world, women are under constant visual scrutiny. I find that just a little unsettling.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Technical problems with THE HORROR: downloading, installing, and running it

Those miserable bastards - I uninstalled Daemontools and the screen went away. On the upside, that answered my questions about random traces of stuff left on my system from the pirated version. EA's site says that you only have to "disable" Daemon Tools; it doesn't say anything about uninstalling it. Do you actually have to remove it completely to fix the problem? I ask because this may affect my decision to purchase the "official" version of the game.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds

Apparently there is male pregnancy, but it can be had through traditional means. Why? Because men can totally reproduce with each other and ghosts, but the thought of an alien sticking a probe up your ass is totally beyond the conceivable.
I was under the impression that male pregnancy is a bug. Besides, the thing I liked about male pregnancy in TS2 was not just that they could get pregnant, but that they could get pregnant with alien babies via unauthorized anal probing. The idea was cute and humorous. Speaking of which, does anyone else think that TS3 seems to lack a sense of humor compared to the other two? But my copy of the game from Amazon has a few new items (like, maybe 10). So that is a little bit different.
Interesting. Could you tell us what the new items are?

You know, at first I was really having fun with this game. However, now that I'm over the initial new-and-shininess effect of a brand new game, I'm starting to hate the fact that they left so much out -- maybe even more than they added. Let's see...
- Aliens and male pregnancy - Memories - Interests - Dreams - Cut scenes - Photo albums - Hot tubs - Pianos - Genetics that don't suck ass
All those things were included in TS2 base game. I know they just want to make sure that TS2 still has some advantages over TS3 so that it will continue to sell. But no hot tubs or pianos? Come on... Even TS1 base game had those (if memory serves). I never realized how much I used hot tubs and pianos until they were taken away. I'll be pissed if either of those things are offered in the Store later.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: EA/Maxis has found the Nvidia problem!

I wouldn't worry about it, Trigger. I have an AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core processor and a GeForce 8600 GTS, and the game runs beautifully. However, I only have the expansions up to OFB (plus FFS), so that could be why I haven't experienced any crashing yet. I'm not too worried, though. My system is optimized, I have plenty of RAM, and I run the game with the Win2000 Launcher. Win2k Launcher does the same thing as ForceCore, plus it has some very nifty extra features such as the "application priority" setting which allows you to decide how much CPU power you want to use to run the game. I set mine on "MAYHEM" since I don't run any other programs while playing TS2. Edit: Removed an extra "yet."

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Shadow Glitch - Fixed!

As far as glitches go, I am grateful that this is one of the few things I've had to deal with so far. *knocks on wood* However, it's still annoying the shit out of me. I just want to be able to take a picture of my Sim eating a bag of chips without this ugly shadow popping out of it... My specs (are probably not necessary, but I'll post them just in case): Windows XP Home Edition (Service Pack 2) AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2048MB RAM DirectX 9.0c I have all expansions up to OFB. My graphics card is a GeForce 8600 GTS with the latest drivers installed (ForceWare 169.21). Here are my settings: Anisotropic filtering - Application-controlled Antialiasing - Gamma correction - On Antialiasing - Mode - Application-controlled Antialiasing - Setting - Application-controlled Antialiasing - Transparency - Multisampling Conformant texture clamp - Use hardware Error reporting - Off Extension limit - Off Force mipmaps - None Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration - Single display performance mode Stereo - Display mode - Use vertical interlace monitor Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization - Off Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias - Allow Texture filtering - Quality - Quality Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization - Off Threaded optimization - Auto Triple buffering - Off Vertical sync - Use the 3D application setting
