1  TS2: Burnination / Taster's Choice / Re: Testers wanted: Color Binning Tool 0.2.25.1 on: 2006 June 06, 21:11:42
Theo, I used your plugin for hair and it worked very well but when I try to bin brows they do not compress and become 2Mb files. Please tell me where I'm going wrong.
Thanks.

Any success stories on binning brows with this tool or by manually changing XTOL value?

Is this what you had in mind?
4  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial - Give Servo an android skin - for the SimPE challenged on: 2006 May 24, 21:12:11
It seems that the game is programmed to not load the appearance character data for servo when not in it's own lot. Another possibility is that the game is programmed to skin the servo in the default male or female servo clothes (which acts as a body/head suit).
I do not think it is possible, regardless of method for changing the servo character data, to load a custom servo appearance away from it's resident lot without a)changing what data is being loaded b)changing the data.

It seems to me you can skip a lot of work assigning skin, hair, eyes, etc. by using a sim template created in body shop and using the plugin at http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=3563.0.
Use a custom clothing tool such as MATY's or http://forums.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=108057 to assign clothing.
Use Insimenator or similar to change appearance if needed.
Servo then has a constant appearance. Doing this has worked for me and has not caused problems with my game. Please comment on what information I am missing or wrong about.

I muted everything and it still does it. The problem isn't my speakers. It's my computer tower making the noises. Don't ask me how.
Seems that you may have either a software or hardware alarm going off. It may be a temperature related alarm as your cpu is working 100% at running The Sims.
FYI, there is a small speaker inside nearly every pc to indicate system status.

These should be the BCON for Medieval that you would be looking to replace in your chosen clone.

Behaviour Constant: Tuning - Sleep
Line 0x0 Dec 80
Line 0 is comfort
Line 0x1 Dec 100
Line 1 is max comfort
Line 0x2 Dec 38
Line 2 is energy per hour

The catalog information should be in OBJD under an entry like "Bed - Double - UM" without additional letters. Raw Data and Decimal view will get you where you want to be.
CTSS will change the text for the catalog description in game.

I'm sorry if this information is wrong in part or in entirety.

I didn't want every lot to have the Medieval double bed, but did want every sim to sleep with premium stats. So, I cloned two of my favorite double bed Maxis meshes and put in the higher bhav stats and catalog information. It works but it is by no means elegant modding or awesome in any way. Behavior Constant: Tuning - Sleep is one of two values you would be wanting to change. I'm afraid my level of knowledge is too low to instruct very far.
You should be able to do this with any custom mesh you would like for your own game.
Motoki, I could send you the packages if you are interested in testing them.

I am curious if one of the intents for this hack is to stop servo from trying to clean up puddles (which constantly breaks cleanbot).
It would be great if something could be done about cleanbot. This thing only picks up litter and water, and half of it's job causes breakage.

IMHO, you do not want to purchase or build a system containing a power supply with <400 watts or a motherboard with integrated graphics. Integrated sound is fine, but you should be looking for a PCI express graphics card with 256mb.
I'm sure you can find plenty configuration recomendations on your own but I will give one that I built recently on a budget that provides excellent gameplay for the cost.
If you have a ton of money to throw at buying a computer I would probably refer you to Alienware.
The case, power supply I bought at a local computer store was on sale at a local store for $100. It is an Antec/400 watt.
The following I bought from Newegg:

graphics = VGA XFX|GF 6800GS 256MB
$205.00

mother board = MB EPOX EP-9NPA+Ultra NF4U 939
$105.00

1gb dual channel memory = MEM 512Mx2|OCZ 400
$111.95

hard drive = HD 80G|MAXTOR 7K 8M SATA
$62.00

DVD-ROM LITE ON SOHD-16P9SV
$19.99

CPU AMD 64 |3700+ ATHLON 64 939P
$224.00

Hope the information was helpful.

Since installing OFB I get a "location out of bounds" error while trying to use moveobjects to place an object on top of the mailbox. Is there a cheat command for this function?
