Wonderful! Thank you. I haven't been playing much with nudists the past few days - I've been playing witches, and they prefer wearing their witchy outfits - but I have noticed two things I wanted to tell you about. First, I was on a vacation lot that had a 'nudist camp' sign affecting the whole lot, and for the most part it worked great. However, when my (nude) guy went for a swim in the pool, for some reason he put on his swimsuit! This behavior did NOT occur for any other actions that I caould see, including swimming in the sea. And yes, I still have pescado's poolhack installed, but it loads earlier. I haven't done any more testing regarding nudism and pools, but just thought you ought to know. Second, I recently installed twojeff's SmartBeds hack (from www.simbology.com) to make people remember what bed they sleep in, and it has a couple of BHAV conflicts with nudist hack, dealing with (obviously) getting into bed. I realize that it is impossible for mods to always play nice with every other mod out there (especially non-awesome ones), but if you had any interest in taking a look at the conflict, I'd be interested in hearing exactly what NudistHack behaviors will be lost if I override them with SmartBeds. And again, thanks for everything! Galen

I look forward to when you get back to modding. I just got AL, so anything for witches would be great. I've been playing a bit more with nudist hack in AL and BV lots, and I now have one more request: Can you make signs that make the lot or house 'clothing optional' rather than 'nudist'? That is, if playable sims are nude, they shouldn't feel any need to get dressed again, but nothing should be *making* them get nude or dressed. I don't care if non-playable sims use the standard nudist logic or not; having them switch between clothed and nude would actually be realistic for 'clothing-optional' lots (though hopefully with a much lower threshold than default). The reason I'm asking for signs, rather than just turning on the 'Always get Nude' setting, is because I have various community lots (such as resorts) hat I'd like to make clothing-optional rather than nudist, for all sims, without having to keep setting options. That is, while most people may be nude most of the time, they can also choose to (say) dress for dinner, wear sexy lingerie in bed, and so on. Specifically, I'd like to be able to place the SimLogical 'Formal' and 'Modesty' signs ( http://www.simlogical.com/sl/Sims2Pages/Sims2_Dressing.htm) in various rooms, so that (say) the dining room could require clothes, but the rest of the resort would be clothing-optional. Again, thanks for the mod! Galen

Thanks for the detailed reply, sigi. Regarding my vamp waking up, I agree that it's unlikely that it was the nudist controller, as she kept waking up when wearng PJ's, too. But as I said, I just wanted to let you know, in case it was. And of course adding a 'sleep in anything' option is way outside the scope of NudistHack, and is already done by vampcoffinmods. Regarding naked woohoo, thanks for telling me it was already in. However, I seem to recall that even people who started woohoo nude in bed somehow ended up in undies for the final relaxation cut scene (for first woohoo with that partner, of course). I'll do some more testing. Regarding individial nudism, I never thought about the garbage issue after uninstall, but now I understand why some hacks work the way they do. However, there need be no garbage involved, as the 'token' could be an inventory item (a 'nudist club' membership card, perhaps?) that works much like a sign does. A lot of Dizzy's hacks at Laden Swallow ( http://www.nectere.net/smf/, under 'Bring Out Your Dead') use this technique, changing behaviors when a sim has a flamingo or statue or something in inventory. Could you do the same? And yes, I recognize that I could alter individual sims to be more nudist my making them more outgoing or playful, but that would violate my own personal play style (a lot of my sims are ex-townies who I didn't create, and once I start altering sim's personalities using hacks, where does it stop?). And sometimes, I don't want some sims to be nude 'more often' - I want them to be nude all the time, like the streakers. I could achieve the same visual effect by just putting them in nude clothing (which is what I've done up until now), but I'd prefer to have the game recognize them as actually nude, so I don't get lots of 'clothes changing' from one nude outfit to another, don't have to keep different nude oufits around for every bodyshape, and can see other sims reactions to the nudity. Though I don't want to appear too greedy, there's a few things that other nudist mods do that don't appear to be part of this mod, and I was wondering if you might someday consider adding them:
Woohoo naked. Squinge stopped supporting this some time back, and the latest posts on ImSimAdult says AL broke it (not surprising), and even though he's now back, who knows if he'll update it, or how it might conflict with your mod. Any chance that nudist hack could support it as an option?
Individual nudists. Is there any possible way that a specific individual could be given a token saying he or she is a nudist, without making everyone on the lot be nude too? In an optimal world, I'd like it if each person could have his or her own nudist threshold adjustment, but I'd be satisfied with just a simple flag.
Hangable nudist signs. Maybe I just haven't noticed them, but could you make nudist signs that can be hung on walls, in addition to the existing floor models?
Thanks!

I've been playing with your latest version for hours now, and it seems to work great! There's lots of options I haven't tried yet, but I will, and will let you know if I encounter any problems.
Two odd things have happened which *may* be related to Nudist Hack, but since they didn't generate errors, I can't be sure, and they both have to do with my vamp sleeping. I've removed syberspunks's vampcoffin mods, but still have pescado's vampwerefixes in, loading before NudistHack. The oddness happened when I had my vamp sleep nude, then had another sim throw a toga party -- and my vamp kept waking up every hour or so to put on a toga. There was no option for the vamp to just 'sleep' in whatever she was wearing (apparently that's from vampcoffinmods) , but whenever I had her sleep nude, the same thing kept happening. But when I finally had her sleep in undies, she stayed asleep.
Like I said, I have no proof that this was related to NudistHack, but it sounds suspiciously like bug you said you fixed earlier regarding sleepers waking up, so I just thought I'd let you know.
And oh, yes, one more question - what's the logic regarding when the 'Get Naked' or 'Ask to get Naked' options appear for a sim? Sometimes it's there, sometimes it isn't, and sometimes it appears when the sim's nudist score is below the threshold...and I just can't figure out how it works.
Again, thanks for a great mod!

TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Hack Conflict questions

On another matter entirely, as I noted before, the Nudist hack has BHAV conflicts with Pescado's poolhack and vacationfixes hacks. Does the nudist hack incorporate Pescado's modifications?
I've included the output of the HDCU.
Thanks!

TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / v 3.2.1 still not quite working in FT
|
on: 2008 September 02, 00:28:29

Tnaks for the quick fix, but I'm not sure it's entirely working yet. After installed the Sept 1 version (core 3.2.1 and bhavs 3.2.3), I booted up my game, went to my dorm in a University, and all seemed to be working. But I noticed that one of my unplayable dormies was just standing there, so I turned on testing cheats, and *instantly* started getting errors - on both a playable and a dormie. bit not *all* of them. Stack trace indicates its still a problem with looking for NudistCore testing for expansion packs, but it's a different error this time.
I've attached the stack traces from both sims. Aphrodisia is a playable vampire currently sleeping in her coffin; Pong is a non-playable dormie currenly just standing there. The other playable on the lot, Stella, is writing her term paper, and is NOT generating errors, though if you look down at bottom of the logs, you'll see that she's the active character.
Without testing cheats enabled, things look like they're working fine, save for the immobile dormie - I can direct my playables to do things, and I'm not seeing any resets. But with testing cheats on, obviously something's still a bit borked, so I am once again going back to the older version of NudistHack.
BTW, though I dodn't exactly say it before, I love your new Nudist Hack - as a nudist myself, it's just what I've been looking for for years. And also, thanks for the complements regarding testing - as a software developer, I really appreciate the importance of good trouble reports, so that's what I'm trying to give you.

TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Another bug with new versions in FT
|
on: 2008 September 01, 06:06:04
|
After going back to 3.14, all seemed ok until I had a sim have a (first) woohoo with a date in bed, which both wanted. The woohoo animation played fine, but at the very end, I got a an error (under testingCheatsEnabled), both sims were reset, and neither sim got either the aspiration points nor the wants satisfied. Taking out the NudistHack entirely and re-running the scene worked fine. Likewise, going back to the Aug 24 version (core 3.1.3 and bhavs 3.1.6) also worked just fine.
I've attached the stack trace from the error log. Looking at the log and previous posts, I'd guess that the newer versions are looking for some new AL cuddle routine (presumably to do with vibration), which FT does not have. Incidental facts which likely have nothing to do with the bug (but one never knows) are that the initiating sim was a servo, and the target sim was a townie. I have lots of other hacks installed, but none deal with beds, and the NudistHack is definitely loading after Pescado's poolhack and vacationfixes, with which it has BHAV conflicts.
May I suggest that you put the Aug 24 versions back on the site for FT compatibility, until the new AL versions are fully backward-compatible with FT?

TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Nudist Hack V 3.2.0 (Updated *20080831*)
|
on: 2008 September 01, 00:36:14

I've been playing with the NudistHack in my FT (and all other pre-AL packs) game, and up to now have had no problems. But I just installed the latest Aug 31 versions (core 3.2.0 and BHAVs 3.2.2), and got borks that I think is from NudistHack. First, whenever I clicked on a sim, most of my pie menus were gone. Second, whenever I tried to use the macrotastics Macro option, I got an error, which the stack trace says is in NudistCore. I've attached part of the log from running under testingCheatsEnabled, and it *looks* like you're testing to see if I'm running AL, but the FT code borks at the unknown version code. Turning off testingcheats doesn't help, as using a Macro just cases the sim to completely reset, with no macro queued.
I'm just went back to the previous version (core3.1.4 and bhavs 3.2.1), and all seems fine again. If you want the full error log, just ask.

I can second the problem of a 'platinum' sim having an aspirational award (thinking cap, in my case) backfire when used. Some other people on the UK EA site ( http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/sims-2/306063-elixir-life-help.html) have noted the same problem, so it appears to be a real FT bug, not something hack-induced. I have also just had a hard crash when I attempted to have one sim in a household give a gift to another, before I even got to select the gift. No idea if this is FT or hack-related, but a google search failed to turn up any other people complaining about the problem, so I'm betting on FT. GalenZ

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Solution found!

Fix discovered! Short version: uninstall BV. Use regedit to remove any remaining Bon Voyage registry entries. Reinstall. Seems to work, no .1.package files created for new sims, am in process of testing. Longer version: I tried uninstalling and reinstalling just BV; no dice. I uninstalled BV, removed Securom, and reinstalled BV; no dice. I dod the above then installed a cracked version of BV; no dice. I uninstalled and re-installled *everything*; no dice. I finally found a old post on MTS (summer 2006, Uni-only, http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?p=487845) describing the same problem and the same .1.packages; they said it only went away when they not only reinstalled, but also did a System Restore from before the start of the problem. So I decided, what the hell, let's see if there are any BV-related entries in the registry after an uninstall, and sure enough, there were two. I gleefully removed them, reinstalled BV and fired it up with a brand-new user directory, created a new sim in CAS, exited, then re-started with my fingers crosssed. And lo and bheold, she was still there! Then I went and reinstalled a copy of my original downloads and neighborhoods (now filled with those nasty .1.package files), and trued again. And yes! Another new sim survived a restart! And she has a normal user package, with no .1.package anywhere in sight! It seems that my problem is now fixed I have no idea what the 2 mystical registry entries I deleted were, how they got there, ore exactly how they affected the game, but the upshot is clear: a bad registry entry can totally mess up BV's sim creation, and who knows what else. I still suspect BV patch 2 of being the culprit that put them there, and given the other problems people seem to be having with it, I don't plan to reinstall it. I hope this helps other people with BV problems. And I want to thank everyone who offered a suggestion. This was the only board I posted this to that was any help at all... GalenZ

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: BV New Sims Disappearing on restart, possibly due to BV patch 2
|
on: 2008 February 24, 17:57:00

Regarding Read-only: Thinking that couldn't be the problem - as *something* is getting saved for new sims, and ols sims and familes are saving just fine, I decided to check anyway. And lo and behold, much to my surprise, the folder *was* read-only. But then how did any new files get created in it at all, I wondered? Still, I was hopeful that this was my problem, and that it was due to some stupidity on my part, so I unset the red-only flag on the folder, and tried again.
And the sim vanished again.
Then I looked at my folder properties again, and what do you know? It was *still* read-only! I unset it again, and checked again. Still R-O! I looked elsewhere. Seems that *every* folder on my whole system is read-only, and I can't unset that bit. But I can still create files and folders in a RO folder, no problem. Seems that a read-only folder in Vista doesn't work the same way it does in Unix...
So, unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the problem. And just to head off the next obvious question, I checked file and folder ownership and permissions. Everything is owned by me, and has full permissions for me and the system to read, write, modify, etc. So that's not it either.
It was a good hypothesis. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the answer.
Damn. I was so hoping it would be that simple...

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / SOLVED: BV New Sims Disappearing on restart, possibly due to BV patch 2
|
on: 2008 February 24, 12:54:37
|
Last night, my long-running BV neighborhood started losing newly created sims. I could create one, move it in to an existing house, play with it extensively, and save without problems. But after I exited and re-started the game, the new sim had vanished from the household, not even an icon. This happened several times, and even sims I left in the sim bin likewise disappeaered. All attempts to locate the sim in the neighborhood proved useless; even SimPE could not find the sim. Other sims still had the memories of the missing sim, but the name was corrupted to something with non-ascii characters.
However, in the neighborhood Characters/ folder, I found oddness: packages with names like N003_User0308.package, and a matching N003_User0308.1.package. The '.1.package' was newer and larger; the 'original' was like 12KB, while the .1.package was >200KB. Opening them with SimPE showed that they somehow contained my missing sims, but I couldn't fire out how to see any stats, put them in the neighborhood, etc.
I hadn't installed any new hacks recently, but I removed all my custome content anyway, and the problem still persisted. I removed my entire EA Games directory and let the game recreate a new one; the problem still occurred. Suspected that perhaps my recent install of the BV patch 2 might be the cause, I uninstalled BV completely, and reinstalled it without any patches at all; the problem still occurred.
Evantually, I found that I could re-create the problem by starting the game in a totally clean user directory, creating a new family using CAS, leaving it in the sim bin, then exiting and restarting. The newly created sim(s) would be gone from the game, though their files still existed in the neighborhood's Characters/ folder.
Playing around a bit, I found that the problem did *not* occur when I uninstalled BV and created sims in Seasons, and such Seasons-created sims would survive when I re-installed BV. But even a spanking new installed of BV and a spanking new user directory had the problem.
Finally, I decided to try renaming on of those 'User_0308.1.package' files to just 'User_0308.package', and voila! The missing Sim reappeared in my Sims Bin! It seems that somehow the game is creating the '.1' files as temps, and then failing to move them to the proper name on save/exit.
I've been hacking on this all night, and have not yet experimented to see if doing such things to Sims in households will restore the households. Likewise, I have not uninstalled and reinstalled *all* my Sims games to see if it fixes the problem (Though I did do a reinstall of both Seasons and BV, and it still happened).
I could not find any mention of this problem on various Sims 2 sites, though I did find some other cases of sims vanishing similarly, though in totally different circimstances. My suspicion is that this problem is somehow related to BV patch 2, though I fail to understand how removing and reinstalling BV would fail to fix it, or that other patch 2 users could have failed to notice it.
So, my questions are: has anyone else seen this problem? Does anyone have any idea what the cause might be? Any suggestions on how to fix it?
FYI, I'm running Windows Vista on a dual core Dell XPS 410 with a nVidia GForce 8600 card, which has proved otherwise stable. My filesystem is far from full, has been recently defragged, and has otherwise not been giving me any problems. I have all TS2 expansion packs, and the FFS and GLS stuff packs. I am not running a cracked game, and have had no obvious problems with SecuRom (though as that stays on my computer even after uninstalling BV, I'm starting to suspect it). I am posting this message on several different sites, not just this one.
I would appreciate any help that anyone can provide. Thank you in advance.
GalenZ
SOLUTION: Back up user files. Uninstall BV. KEY STEP: Use regedit to remove any remaining entries under 'Bon Voyage': I found 2. Reinstall BV. Restore user files. Testing shows no more .1.package files created, and new sims survive restarts just fine. See later post for more info.
