1  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Can't replace with newer version of AM on: 2010 July 28, 02:31:11
"1.14/2.9/3.5/4.2 VERSION" refers to the game patches, not AM.

As Claeric pointed out, since you're still getting the message, you obviously need to download the newest AM.
2  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 July 20, 18:53:07
rtfm says:
"11. Less Idle Goof Offs [Optional - Enabled]
Sims will be less likely to stand therefore half an hour goofing off and
staring into space while they have orders to be carrying out."

I've had less than two week's worth of experience with Sims 3, so I could be wrong, but the goofing off seems to be just as frequent with AM as without it.

I'm running only the base game with no CC and patched up to 1.14.

I wasn't sure which thread to post this in, so in keeping with the subject of this thread:
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, do you have any helpful tips?
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Disappearing Wants on: 2009 February 21, 22:47:24
Hello,

I've done searches but haven't found info about exactly the same issue.

My child sims' wants & fears will disappear (not just the images, because there is no scroll-over text).  Once it starts happening to a child, it will persist until they become a teen. When the wants & fears reroll, they will all be there for a second or so before they disappear. Wants & fears that are locked do not disappear.

This happens to all or almost all of the children, and I have yet to detect a pattern.

Does anyone know if there are particular types of hacks that can create disappearing wants & fears? I saw speculation on one thread that phone hacks may mess with wants & fears, but the issue wasn't exactly the same. This has been happening for a long time, so I know it isn't anything I've downloaded recently. Other than that, I have no idea which hacks to suspect.

I have all EPs up to Seasons, plus the H&M stuff pack.

Thanks for any and all assistance.

My problem is that when I first played Sims 2, I didn't have any expansion packs, so I ignored most threads talking about them. But after about a year, I reinstalled Sims 2 and added all the expansion packs up to Seasons. So I have a lot to learn at once! Thanks again.

pwema_yht_beb - Thank you so much for explaining! Very nice of you. I'm surprised I haven't discovered that feature by accident. Tongue

May I ask what you thought this hack would do?  This situation is the intended consequence of the hack.

----------------

To answer your question, Kyna -
I realized she wouldn't have 20K, but I didn't realize that the household had too little cash on hand for her to be able to afford the cheapest lot when she moved out. I just got back into playing Sims after a break of about a year, so I'm trying to familiarize myself with many hacks all at once. It may not seem like it to the awesome people who frequent these boards, but there are a lot of details to remember. Smiley

morriganrant - Thank you for the list of cheats. I wasn't aware of the Family Funds cheat. I'll try that.

pmewa_yht_beb & Kyna - I guess I don't understand what you mean by "merging" or moving her back in. Since she's not on a lot, no one can interact with her. I'm sure there are complicated ways of doing it, using SimPE or something, but I'm looking for a simple method.

Kyna - I'll look into using the money order hack. I didn't know that would work with Sims who are in the bin.

Hi,
I was using the no20khandouts hack, and before I fully understood the consequences, I moved Jody Larson out of the house she shared with her brother. Now she and her dog are stuck in the families bin with only 436 simoleons. I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to give her more simoleons or otherwise make her playable again.  Embarrassed
Thanks for all and any help!
Becky

Just so everyone knows what I'm talking about, here's the description of the hack:
no20Khandouts.zip - Officially Nightlife Compatible
Eliminates the magic 20K handout when a sim moves out or graduates from college.
A sim moving out will simply take a proportional split of the cash reserves of
the current family. No more. No such thing as a free lunch. If a sim family breaks
up, the sim being booted out will take the minimum amount to afford a lot, 3K,
from the treasury if available. Otherwise, he gets whatever is left. If that's
not enough to afford even the odd 2x2 lot... too bad! Life's a bitch and then
   you're raped by wild boars!
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Game Crash During Garden Club Inspection on: 2007 December 31, 07:10:58
Hi,
My game just crashed during a Garden Club Inspection.
I've searched the threads, and I see issues related to the Garden Club Inspection that seem to involve custom content. However, my issue may be different, because I have a clean install of the game with absolutely *no* custom content or hacks. As far as I can tell, I have all the official patches that are required.

1. What are some of the common reasons for game freezes/crashes?
2. Are there particular issues with Garden Club Inspections (or Seasons in general) that are *not* related to custom content or hacks?

Thanks for any and all help! Cheesy

Just wanted to follow up and post the resolution to this - -
I think it was a corrupt disk, because there was a strange mark/scratch on the disk.
So I decided to buy a copy of Deluxe (to eliminate the chance of buying another Nightlife disk with the same corruption), and the installation went smoothly.

Good idea, crystalclear. But when I tried that, it wouldn't copy everything. The particular package, SfxK1, appears to be corrupted.

Maybe I'll try to find a copy somewhere, like you suggested Nec. Do you know of any "safe" places to look? I'm worried about malware, etc.
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nightlife Install Error on: 2007 December 27, 05:59:34
Well, I installed the base game patch, but the error still occurs.
I guess the disk is corrupt.
Thanks for the help, Nec.
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Nightlife Install Error on: 2007 December 27, 05:04:21
Hi,
I haven't played Sims 2 for several months, so I decided to restart from scratch. Previously I only had the base game, which I uninstalled.

So I'm in the process of installing Sims 2 and several expansion packs from scratch. I installed the base game and University with no problems (but haven't yet run the game). So my next installation is Nightlife. But at 37% complete (Disk 1), an error message pops up:

When I select "Retry", the installation attempts to continue, but the error message pops up again. The only alternative is to quit the installation.

1. Does anyone know what is causing this error?

2. Should I have installed the patch(es) before even asking this question?  Undecided

Thanks for any help!
