1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Disappearing Cars from Inventory on: 2013 November 06, 23:17:54
1. Use less exclamation marks, most people will just ignore you because of that.

2. Do you have Nraas Overwatch installed?
No, what is it, and where do I get it if it will solve the problem?
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Disappearing Cars from Inventory on: 2013 November 06, 06:21:15
I was wondering if this site has put out a fix for this problem of cars disappearing from active households?Huh??  It also happened to me 4 times when playing a University lot.  The last post I saw about this was in 2011, so I'm revisiting the topic.  Any help would be deeply appreciated!!!!!!   Cool
3  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Installing Alarms in 15 Minutes on: 2009 February 26, 20:53:29
This is just a small hack where I changed the length of time it takes to install alarms on any ownable vehicle your Sim has.  Smiley
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hack Requests? I'd Like a Newspaper Fix... on: 2009 February 25, 20:26:14
Back to the subject at hand, I do realize the fix is for a NIT!  This message really belonged in the other section, because it is an annoying EAxis bug to me; among other stupid little inconsistent bugs.  I also understand it wouldn't be a priority to anybody; I was just hoping.

As for uploading any of my fixes to this site, just because I've never shared any of them, or uploaded anything without a dialog box to do it, doesn't mean I don't know what I'm doing.  Also, I don't speak up a lot around here, because people are too assuming when someone doesn't have 500+ posts around here.  My fixes work fine, are global, and are as simple as Installing an Alarm in 15 minutes instead of what it was, making Sims fix 12 plates of food instead of 6 etc., and nobody is asking YOU to use any of my fixes ... I could care less.  But, for people who find and fix annoying little things in the game, they would be free to use mine.  Stop being mean, y'all!!!!!!  I'm no dummy; just a little behind times from being off the net for almost a year.  Much has changed, and honestly, I've never uploaded anything without a dialog box to get it from my computer to a site.  If FTP is what I should use, then I'm sure there is still a format for uploading things that I don't know about, or haven't read.  I was a senior software designer in the mainframe-world, so don't assume anything about anybody.  I'm just new on this board; not with the world of software OR The Sims.  I was a good hacker and designed some things with TS1; not as much so with TS2, because I don't have the same kind of time I had back then and TS2 is far more 3D-complex'd than 2D was.  Same with the code.
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hack Requests? I'd Like a Newspaper Fix... on: 2009 February 23, 22:40:48
Okay, okay, adjust your glasses.  I didn't say WHERE!  I said HOW!  How do you like THAT?  Booooooooooooooooo you, too. Grin  I don't want to mess with HTML to upload a file, and FTP isssssssssn't it!  I'm sure there are things the DCs want to accept hacks from Peasants.  I didn't see how, but then again, my eyes are buggin' from reading tiny print.

Oh, and once you start looking at the code difference between Newspaper - Check Weatherforecast and Read Section... (0x7F08E23C), if it doesn't make you flinge (or cringe), I'll pull my own hair out for you; or shoot that thing off the top of your fury little head with an arrow if I'm right. LOL

My Sims always put the paper back on an available table (if present) when checking the forecast, doing a crossword, and perhaps others.  They never place it on an end-table or coffee table for reading hobby sections. So:

GOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Boy sees dead people. Should I be worried? on: 2009 February 23, 22:32:16
I don't know if it's a token, but does the game treat Dead Sims the same as living Sims?  You can't interact with them like living Sims ... if that's what you mean.  You probably can't resurrect them, unless you're playing the dead Sim's residential lot; at least that's what I think.  Bonk me on the head if I'm wrong!   Shocked
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Hack Requests? I'd Like a Newspaper Fix... on: 2009 February 23, 21:28:58
Okay, before I get boo'd off this site, I'd better ask before spelling it all out.  I thought this fit in The Bowels of Trogdor, but I can't post in there.

I found a bug with EAxis spaghetti code where they tried to do something fancy with Read Section... of a newspaper, and broke the ability for Sims to put the paper back where it came from; it goes on the floor.  I followed code from Check Weatherforecast, Do Crossword, and reading magazines.  I couldn't figure out where the problem was, but all of them seem to call "put paper back" (something else for reading magazines).  So, they bwoke it!!!  It drives me crazy that the paper could be anywhere, depending on what floor a Sim puts the paper down.  I couldn't get beyond looking through nests of code and scratching my head.

Can somebody around here create a hack-fix for this?  Oh, and how do Peasants upload their teeny-weeny fixes to this site?   Cheesy
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Neighbourhood screen flashing to black on: 2008 January 08, 08:50:26
Honey, tons of people are having this problem (including me)!!!!!!!  Been whining about it since BV came out on TS2's site, and EA appears to be ignoring the issue while racing off to create another EP.  There was supposed to be another patch for BV, and lots of people are asking about it ... only to get 0 response from EAxis.  Boooooo; greedy bastardos!  There was a video driver memory leak in Pets that caused the game to crash/freeze all the time.  nVidia put out a driver work-around that made this disappear during Seasons.  Then, either BV found another leak, or that was never the problem to begin with.  nVidia says BV is using the wrong instructions to identify the video card, but with stuff like this, who really knows?  I keep my computer ship-shape, and fought long and hard for EA to fix this after Pets came out.  When it happened to BV, I gave up buying anything else, because I had nobody else to gang-up with and go after EA like we all should be doing about this!!!  I ran out of steam, and will probably never extend that much energy alone about an addicting game like The Sims.   Grin

boolProp useShaders off helps, but does not eliminate the freeze and makes various graphical details disappear...  Sad
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Skillinator Query on: 2008 January 08, 08:40:51
That stupid piano is buggy!  Sims get stuck in the seat after playing (standing up), and can't move away.  I have a grande piano from someone before BV came out, and it works like a charm.  The one from Maxis has problems.  I could probably use the code from the one that works to fix Maxis' grande piano, but I just use the CC one.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV problems - anyone else noticed these? on: 2008 January 08, 08:31:24
Multiple Charlatans sounds like a mis-behaving hack issue.  I have a BV hack from here that actually fixed a few things, but made some things break (NPC Sims not showing up on vacation lots).  I was going to write something else, and I forgot what already!  Shocked  Someone said seeing the Charlatan was rare?  Oh, contraire!  I see that Sim all over the place, and always run my Sims away from him.   Smiley  Antiredundancy took the Charlatan away, but the BV patch brought him back; should only show up once on the same lot.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Aspiration Lock? on: 2008 January 08, 08:27:00
Well, geesh!  Nobody willing to share their hacking skills?  I guess some things never change; happened when I was hacking in the Sims 1 world Cheesy. Anyway, for anybody new to the TS2 hacking-world, I figured it out with hunches.  Even though I don't know the details of what much of the code means, deleting those 2 lines did the trick!  Aspiration still goes up, but it doesn't go down.  Yay!  Thanks so much for the lead to the correct BHAV to mess with.

 Grin
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Aspiration Lock? on: 2008 January 05, 10:01:21
I hope you all don't mind if I write out my logic here to get it corrected and understood more by me.  I'll just rattle off what I'm thinking, and questions will be included for anybody to answer ... to save time creating this.

Okay, after studying the BHAV mentioned for a couple of hours, what became clear were 2 lines:

9: [private 0x100E] Get in Temp 0 - Decay - Total (Param 0x0000, Param 0x0001), true A, false Error
A: [prim 0x0002] Expression (Local 0x0000 -= Temp 0x0000), true 2, false Error

Param 0 is the Mood, and Param 1 is Aspiration Score??? I think I have to insert a line that compares param1 < Local 0x0000 (assigned from the aspiration score in line #7), or the other way around, and goto line 9 if true, else goto line 2 to ignore both lines that appear to subtract from the Aspiration Score.  I'm just going through the motions here.  I don't know how to interpret the math going on in these 2 lines; looks like C or something.  It appears that line 9 subtracts Decay, Param 0, and Param 1 from Temp 0? Line A is comparing Aspiration Score to whatever Temp 0 is, and going to line 2 if -= works; don't know what -= is, yet ... is it doing a calculation, or comparison?

OR, adjust true's & false's, and delete the 2 lines so decay doesn't happen at all?  I'm afraid that would negate increasing the Aspiration Score somehow, i.e., one of those 2 lines (or both) handles increasing aspiration???  I have very little idea of what the rest of the code really does in total, but I usually don't know it all when I'm modifying code.  Do I need to understand more or less here?  This code calls resources that handle when the decay occurs, so, I don't have to worry about that as long as I prevent the score from going lower than it currently is.  Line C appears of interest to me, too, but I don't really know what's going on there, i.e., what the constant is, and the purpose of PersonData Flag 1:

C: [prim 0x0002] Expression (Stack Object's PersonData Flags 1 Flag Set? Const 0x0119:0x23)

I don't think I have to worry about the above line, because it is setting flags which is what I want.  I just have to make sure previous logic prevents Aspiration Decay.

Am I close?  Huh  Anybody out there?  Cool
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Aspiration Lock? on: 2008 January 05, 04:08:15
No, just the hourly decay. I don't want the meters to go down; only up. This one doesn't have anything to do with Motives ... just the Aspiration Meter/Score. I need to get into the game to get the accurate labels of those meters; I can't remember off the top of my head.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Frequently Freezing Lot on: 2008 January 05, 03:39:06
Well, I tell ya'.  There are a lot of reasons for lots freezing/crashing with custom content in them.  I find the larger the lot, the more frequently this occurs.  I've also been fighting with EA forever about a problem with the game either writing illegal/incorrect instructions to graphics cards with DirectX, or mishandling older custom content.  EA won't verify either, they blame nVidia who says there is a memory leak and BV asks for the driver-version in the wrong way, but it took too much energy to fight them when this problem got out-of-hand with Pets. I had to threaten them with negative publicity, so nVidia helped EA out and created Beta 162.18 during Seasons.  When BV came out, this problem was alive and well all over again  Angry, and now ATI-users have problems but less often than nVidia-users.  I have to use boolprop useshaders off to play without all lots crashing within 5 minutes, and that takes away seeing lots of details in the game.  Some of my lots don't crash at all, but the commonality with the ones that do is that they are large, and have a fair amount of custom content.  I know it's not my CC, because I know what I've added since Seasons, and 100% worked perfectly fine after the 162.18 nVidia patch. Since I practically got the crap beaten out of me by EA, and ended up shunned by the Sr. Developer, I'll not tackle them alone again. So, if only 1 lot is doing this, most likely it is a CC object (or hack that isn't working correctly). My guess is the all-famous graphics problem caused by this game which affects previously-working CC, and nobody knows what it really is!  Sad
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Aspiration Lock? on: 2008 January 05, 03:18:45
Ohhh Thank you, Pescado and dizzy. No, I don't think it would be hard for people who create hacks, objects, etc.; I've never done it for TS2. When I read other people's hacks, maybe you can imagine all the confusing activity going on in my brain ... like was this something build-in already? Where is the resource list of all the literals and constants I see all over the place? How do I know whether this is a personglobals hack, or some other kind of hack? What code is essential when building hacks related to Sims, and how do I know what the parameters should be? How do I make this thing turn on at hh:01, and off at hh:59 or vice-versa? Why did this person create the same GUID in 3-4 different places in the hack? Basically, all the things I went through when I started hacking TS1 objects; I got fairly good at it.  Making hacks in either version of the game reminds me of crazy-code with so many Goto's, that it's hard to figure out the flow. And, TS2 is quite a different animal that would take me a long time just to start a hack. I did manage to hack someone else's hack (just for my game), and that took about a week or two of figuring out what they did, and adding to it. It only had 1 BHAV with 20-30 lines. That was just a couple of weeks ago. I think it took a few months for me to know how to start a TS1 hack from scratch, let alone a TS2 one. Oh, another question that keeps lurking is how the heck 2 different BHAV's in the same object are interacting with each other & the game, because I saw no references from one to the other or vice-versa? I did find a resource related to the lock aspiration cheat, but I haven't studied it, yet. Of course, some of the questions running around in my head may be irrelevant, but I don't find out until I try to make one of these hacks.

Another messed-up issue is that I may lose my Internet connection soon, which is absolutely essential to read the tons of material about SimPE and hacking things. I was just trying to save some time that I may not have ... to actually create this hack. But, I will take a look at the stub and BCON.  It IS something I want to be Global, and happen everywhere I go within the game.  Oooops, I forgot to answer your question, Pescado.  Yes, I don't want the decay, but I want the increase.  Locking aspiration makes it so nothing happens to that meter, even when a Sim gains a want; and as I play, I keep forgetting to turn it on and off before the top of the hour.  I'm usually trying to manage doing a bunch of things at one time (while in pause), and you'd be amazed how many times I kept forgetting that one simple task when I let the game rip! I'll study the code, and if I can't figure it out in a week, I'm coming back and begging to have someone create this hack for moi!   Smiley

17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Aspiration Lock? on: 2007 December 25, 22:34:22
Hope I don't get burned in the Burnination Chamber for asking for this.  Wink

Does anyone know of a hack that prevents Aspiration from not going down, but only going up?  I keep forgetting to turn it on and off with the cheat before the hour changes, and haven't hacked anything since The Sims 1 (forgot a lot since then).  More specifically, something that Locks Aspiration at :59 past the hour, and Unlocks Aspiration at :01 past the hour for any given lot I'm playing.  I tried to get into understanding hacks with this game, but it would take forever for me to get a good understanding of the code to create this myself.  Thanks for any leads.   Smiley
