However, I have considered looking into making more ways for a sim to die in this mod... like modding the "take a spin" social to include a chance of an accident where the car is destroyed and the sims die horribly.

I, for one, am all for more (non-bizarre)ways for sims to die.
Bring on the mayhem!
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: mmm... npc lot visiting ? on: 2008 April 13, 16:08:02
I usually make a few townies look like policemen so that I'll see them around. Sometimes a thief or two.
They're the only ones, in my mind, that would walk around in work clothes.
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Always twins in any pregnant. Help!!! on: 2008 March 04, 04:44:25
So, what i wanted to say is that my pregnant sim didnīt eat a cheesecake during her pregnancy.

Are you certain?  There are some pretty sneaky sims out there who will make themselves cheesecake while you're not looking.
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Population EXPLOSION!! on: 2008 January 06, 20:42:01
I recently reinstalled my game, and I restarted with the pleasantville template that has the base sims and townies they know.  I use all DC hacks and ACR, but no other hacks.  My gameplay style is to let my sims run amock and let them deal with the consequences.  However, I've run across something that has irritated me to the point of intervention: all my pregnant sims are having twins.

I had six babies spawned before I tracked down why I was suddenly hit with the OMGTWINS!!!!11 fairy.  My pregnant sims will NOT stop feeding themselves cheesecake! What the heel?  And what can I do to stop it, short of adjusting ACR (I still want pregnancies), removing skill points, or diligently watching my sims?

On the other hand, John Burb isn't far from his goal of having 10 kids.

p.s. Hey, Grammar Police, is that the proper use of a colon?
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's in YOUR Downloads? on: 2007 December 20, 01:44:14
I basically use the director's cut.  I'm not currently using the no___respawn hacks, because I just started a new neighbourhood with the blank templates.
6  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! December: 'tis the season! on: 2007 December 20, 00:32:18
because I've always wanted a disembodied deer head springing forth from MY wall.
I could see this for bars and sims' homes. Trophies such as these exist IRL, but I don't remember if or where I have seen them. However, the wooden plaque base is missing. That aside, I don't see what this has to do with Christmas, apart from the fact the set is shown with stuff from Holiday Crap. I must say that desk made me tip my head sideways and frown, though. I must investigate.

True, deer head trophies exist, but usually they're mounted on something.  It's quite odd to see nothing but the head.  I mean, how's it hanging on the wall?
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Family Size Restriction on: 2007 December 19, 00:21:58
I think TJ had instructions in one of the readme's that come with the hack.

An apostrophe is not used to show a plural.Grammar Day 2007 - thank you for participating.
Bah. I've always struggled with that. "Readmes" seems awkward, as does the spelling of "awkward".

You could try what I do in that situation: take a different route.  I suggest "in one of the manuals".
I solve problems by avoiding them.  Grin
8  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I fail at life (simulations) on: 2007 December 11, 00:34:50
For anyone who cares, I managed to remove the game from my computer.

I threatened it with a hot soldering iron.

Now the fun of reinstalling EVERYTHING. :-P
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / I fail at life (simulations) on: 2007 December 09, 22:48:07
Earlier this year, after installing Bon Voyage, I started having problems with custom neighbourhoods not working.  Despite the wealth of knowledge on this site, I never did figure out what was wrong.  I'm getting damned sick of using Maxis neighbourhoods, so I decided to suck it up and do a complete reinstall to see if that works.

...However, I can't seem to get the stupid program to uninstall.  Is there some sort of magical chant that I'm not aware of?  Is there a certain order to uninstall?  When I try to use the uninstall program, nothing happens. Same deal if I go through control panel's remove program feature.

Anyone have any suggestions that don't involve a blowtorch?
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No autonomous gestures - PLEASE! on: 2007 September 30, 00:06:10
That's just a mild annoyance. Wait until your entire 'hood is slap dancing autonomously.  Cheesy

Isn't that what this: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,9586.0.html is for?

Technical numptiness and general lack of awesome anyness means no piccies until I work out how.  The link should be OK however.

The link doesn't work properly. It looks like you didn't specify which thread you mena, and I'm, of course, too lazy to search that forum for it.
12  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! September: WTF? on: 2007 September 26, 21:37:14
There's also the blue-to-yellow pee hack, which confuses me. But I'm too lazy to get pictures, I'm afraid...I'm not actually entering this, just merely stating a fact. ^^
It's from here, silly.

I was going to add that, but I don't yet have a poking stick.

You mean you prefer it when your sims pee blue?
now THAT I find confusing.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I told you that we should have asked for directions.... on: 2007 September 11, 19:40:27
Is your My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 folder still trying to make itself Read Only?  This would be a likely cause for your issues.

As to Pescado's message, he probably should have said that your game is turning into a BFBVFS and needs to be reinstalled.  Ideally, this can be avoided if we figure out why the custom hoods refuse to save properly.

Yes, the folder's still stubbornly trying to keep itself read only.  I've tried it a number of times and also tried making the subfolders (manually) unclicked, but to no avail.

Of course, I'd prefer not to have to reinstall the entire friggin' program.  If it turns out I have to do that, I'll just delete it for awhile. I'm due to rotate soon anyway, so it won't be worth the effort if I can't play it for six months.
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I told you that we should have asked for directions.... on: 2007 September 11, 19:23:15
It looks like your neighborhood is a BFBVFS, then. Reload it from backup and try again.

Perhaps I've made myself unclear: There is no neighbourhood.  These are brand-new custom neighbourhoods that aren't saving.  When I reload the program, there is no evidence of there ever being custom 'hoods.  I can't reload from back-up because I haven't gotten to play them for longer than one session.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage satisfaction on: 2007 September 11, 06:40:58
I was quite amused today to discover that sims can WooHoo in a hammock.  It's a rather amusing animation.
They can WooHoo in the sauna, too, but the animation isn't nearly as funny.

I didn't know this until one of my slut romance sims rolled up the wants.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question concerning vacation hoods and main hood on: 2007 September 11, 03:17:05
I was under the impression you could whack down a residential house on one of the vacation lots like any other section.  I can't exactly put a beach house in my main hood since i used the pleasantview map and there's no way to place a beach lot anywhere.

You can, but then it's only a vacation home that you can visit instead of staying at the hotel.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage satisfaction on: 2007 September 11, 01:12:45
-I like the traveler memory things, for some reason.  Perhaps it's because it's a different goal to go after other than spawning hellions and working up the corporate ladder.
-I also LOVE that we can make beach lots.
-I like the new turn ons, but I wish they came with the reverse option so that people can be turned off by lack of skills.-
-My romance sims like the idea of having a lover at every 'port'
-I liked the pirate sea chantey for about five minutes before I wanted my sims to shut up
-I like that my sims can now walk to the next-door lot instead of taking a taxi.

overall, I've no major complaints except that I seem to be too stupid to figure out why my computer won't let me keep a custom neighbourhood.
19  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I told you that we should have asked for directions.... on: 2007 September 10, 19:40:24
Also, make sure to check that you don't have the Sims 2 directory or its subs marked as 'Read-Only' in your My Documents.

Well, it was.  Unfortunately, when I tell it to uncheck, it rechecks while I'm not looking.  Much like a teenager.

ETA:
B: did the chkdsk and came up empty-handed.

I give up for now.  I haven't played a maxis hood in a long time, so since it'll let me save there, guess I'll try doing that for a while.
20  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I told you that we should have asked for directions.... on: 2007 September 10, 02:31:53
Either BV has BFBVFS'ed your neighborhood, which has happened several times in testing so far, or your neighborhoodpackagemanagerthingy is corrupt, and you need to nuke it and let the game regenerate it.

Is that possible when I specifically created this neighbourhood post-install?

It's happened three times now, whenever I create a custom neighbourhood.

ETA:

Okay, I've located and deleted the neighbourhoodpackagemanagerwhatsit, and created a new neighbourhood. I exited and entered the program, and once again, the neighbourhood's missing.

ETA2:

Deleted the whole Sims2 folder and let it regenerate. (thus giving back the default hoods)
Created a custom neighbourhood.  Switched 'hoods and went to Veronaville.  Moved some houses around.  Went back to the custom hood. Still there.  Went back to Veronaville. Changes still there.
Closed the program and reloaded.
Veronaville changes still there, but once again, the custom 'hood has vanished.
21  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / I told you that we should have asked for directions.... on: 2007 September 09, 22:27:37
Has anyone else had problems with their entire neighbourhood disappearing?
I installed BV yesterday and played quite a bit of time in a test neighbourhood.  I saved many times, went to many different lots, and generally had a grand old time playing.
But today the entire neighbourhood is gone.

So what'd I do wrong?

23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sprinkler Prank on: 2007 July 30, 23:46:46
You could stomp the sprinkler prank entirely just by placing in directly over the stove or fireplace instead on in the tile in front.  If a sim can't stand directly below it, that sim cannot perform the prank.

Yes, and normally I do that.

But when I started playing a PlantSim, I discovered that the prank fills the Water need almost immediately, plus is good for more than one PlantSim at once, provided they're near each other.
I don't mind the time wasted of them reacting to the sprinkler, but it doesn't make sense to me that they're trying to avoid the water.

Is it possible to make PlantSims not react to the sprinkler prank?  It just doesn't make sense to me for them to run around covering themselves from the water.

what is the purpose of a Pre-Marital Sex Association anyways?  Huh

Sounds like the arch nemesis of the Junior Anti-Sex League to me. Wink
