1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB - What works, what doesn't on: 2006 March 06, 02:36:04
Ah, crap, yeah, I'm pretty sure I downloaded it with a house, before I had clean installer. Thanks, I'll go searching for it.

It's kind of funny on my community lots with espresso machines, everyone and their dog is lined up to buy espresso! I should open up a coffee bar and make a killing until I find the hack.
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB - What works, what doesn't on: 2006 March 05, 21:01:45
I had to delete the SuperEspresso....the damned sims kept wanting to makje coffee  Undecided

I am having this probelm too, but I can't find the damn file. At N99, it's listed as Power_Espresso-SimCutie. I've searched my whole hard drive looking for various combinations of keywords, but I can't find it. Anyone know off hand exactly where it is or what it's exact filename is?

Thanks in advance.
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: clothing gone bad? on: 2005 November 11, 13:45:51
my sim kids run everywhere for about 2 days after they transition from toddlers

Mine do that too - weird indeed. It just seems to wear off eventually, no one action seems to "fix" it. Maybe sleeping, I dunno, I never really take note of when it stops, but eventually notice that they're not running anymore.
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No downtownies/hack conflict - anyone know which one? on: 2005 October 16, 12:11:19
I tried taking it out - then downtown wouldn't load at all - it's just stays stuck on the loading screen - which is another problem I had a while back. I got frustrated, didn't play for a couple of weeks, and then when I tried again, downtown would load. I had done a defrag & spyware scan & scandisk in the meantime, I thought that might have fixed it but now it's all frigged up again.

So I took out all the hacks - now it works, and the people downtown are back. But nooo hacks - aaaaaaaaaaarghh I can't stand it!

Misty, you're right, I need to be more organized with new stuff I put in my game! My download folder is a big ol' mess. I do have a hacks folder, and then everything else is just dumped in. *lol*  Embarrassed

So yeah, I am having some sort of hack conflict, I guess I'll have to just add them in a few at a time until I find the one that's making downtown freeze up on loading, and/or making the downtown people not show up.
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No downtownies/hack conflict - anyone know which one? on: 2005 October 15, 12:33:54
I had notownies pre-NL and left it in at first, and I had downtownies.

But - here's a thought - I just started killing off downtownie children as my kids bring them home from school. The no downtownies problem may have started since then. Maybe the noregen is making them all disappear when I killed off just some. I'll have to check it out - thanks, Venusy! Cheesy
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / No downtownies/hack conflict - anyone know which one? on: 2005 October 15, 11:16:36
I had downtownies. Then I didn't. I'd send a sim downtown, and only NPCs were on the downtown lots. I downloaded some hacks in between but I can't remember what I already had and what I added. I have almost all of Pescado's, some twojeffs, and a few others - I tend not to download hacks from names I don't recognize unless they've been tested thoroughly by others and it's something I really want.

I took out all my hacks and now the downtownies are showing up again. Does anyone know which hack is causing this to save me trying to put them back in bit by bit? Thanks in advance. Grin

There is an english tut for the elevator here:

Click on the sims 2 button on the title banner, then click the "Templates/Tutorials & Tips" link.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: When's the last time you ran Sims 1? on: 2005 October 09, 13:47:31
I hadn't played Sims 1 for about 2 years before I got Sims 2, so probably 3 years.

It got too messy, I was a downloadaholic and not too organized with it, I had so many conflicts and too much stuff to sift through. It took almost an hour for my game to load and it just became unenjoyable to play.

With Sims 2, I am trying to be more picky with what I download. Although I'm certainly not organized with it, still.  Embarrassed
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How many Sims are you playing? on: 2005 October 09, 13:42:34
I only play my custom hood, Shubieville. I play the hood with no aging, money, skilling, motive, job or friend-making cheats, because I like the challenge.

I killed off all the townies pre-uni & have no regen. I've let the dormies live because they don't stroll by or get brought home from work and they're great for racking up the friend count without being too annoying. But I don't play them. I haven't killed off all the downtownies yet - I'm just doing it bit by bit when people bring them home from school/work. *evil cackle*

So, in Shubieville - I started with 6 houses, each containing 2 adults and 4 kids. That's 24 kids. I paired up the kids to make 12 couples. 6 couples stayed in one of the original six houses, and then I put in 6 new houses for the other couples. Each couple had 4 kids again, so now I had 48 kids in the next gen. I paired them up to make 24 couples. 12 of them stayed in the existing houses, and I put 12 more new houses in.

That is where I am right now - playing a hood with 24 houses in rotation. Each family had 3 kids, so now I have 72 kids. I'm going to pair them up and only let them have 2 kids I think. *lol* The hood is getting out of hand. It's taking me forever to get through a rotation. I've named all the kids in each house alphabetically, so house #1 has kids that start with A, house #2 has kids that start with B, etc. Since the beginning of September and I've had to go back to school  I've only managed to just play to the D household as of last night. *lol*
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Rant: Hacks are ignored by Nightlife on: 2005 September 15, 02:25:25
I keep telling it to enable my custom content but it doesn't somehow, hmm I guess I have to read up on all this and what hacks I can and can't use (and I BETTER be able too use no cheering for those kids with A+ Angry )

Motoki, try quitting the game and re-loading - custom content seems to be not showing up for people the first time they run the game, even if it is in the right folder and enabled. Mine wasn't there when I first played, but I quit and loaded it back up and it was all there.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: VERY annoying move out bug on: 2005 September 11, 01:06:02
Do a search on MTS2 for TwoJeff's old University move out fixer - Its not on Various simmers, its kind of out dated.

It just might do the trick - I had this problem and it fixed it - just take it out after you try it, because I forget what it conflicts with, but it does conflict with something. Or someting.  It looks like a money tree, its under plants.

I used it when the moveoutbug fix didnt work, and the lot fixer didnt work. My problem was similar to yours, but just in one household I think, not the whole hood.

Last dash effort but it just might work!
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Welcome Pescado on: 2005 September 11, 00:58:58
I had to look in here to see why we had a "Welcome Pescado" thread ... now I see that it's been bumped up from nearly two months ago.  ... *lol*
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How Do You Get Rid of Zits? on: 2005 September 03, 21:42:50
Have you tried doing "change appearance" in the mirror? Sometimes that will get rid of stuck zits leftover from teenhood.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Mysterious Choking Death on: 2005 August 31, 00:30:54
Oh, I don't have a problem getting roof raisers - I spend a lot of money on decorations and take a lot of pics, is the problem. *lol* Fountains, sculptures, plants, you name it! I like them to have nice wedding pictures. So my financially challenged sims, I send them to this really pretty community lot to get married, so they can get pretty pictures without having to buy the decorations, because I don't like to cheat and buy it for them. Smiley
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Mysterious Choking Death on: 2005 August 31, 00:18:37
Ahhh, wow, I had no idea about any of this, thanks for all the links, folks.

She was indeed one day pregnant, not showing. I was going to post that she hadn't been to a community lot, but you know, it just occured to me that she might have been! Not from her own house, but I had a couple of weddings on some community lot chapels I dowloaded, and she may have shown up. I may have even used the teleporter bush to teleport her in as a wedding guest - I'm not sure. I had 24 sim weddings in a row and it's all a blur as to who was at whose wedding. *lol*

I'll have to be extra careful from now on - no more invisi-preggos at community lot weddings! It's the only thing I use community lots for, for my poor sims who can't afford a nice wedding. Maybe I'll just get them a loan from the bank of Kaching from now on, and then money order the cash away after I've sold off the wedding deco. It's my no-cheat hood so I don't like to give them money.

Oh thanks! Sorry I missed that thread, must have been when I was away.  Embarrassed
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / The Mysterious Choking Death on: 2005 August 30, 11:09:07
I finally had this happen in my game! And sure enough, it was a pregnant sim. Luckily her husband stopped making himself a hamburger long enough to plead for her life and she was saved, as I wasn't finished breeding her yet.

I've had 97 pregnancies in this hood, and this is the first time I've seen it.

It's of course not listed in the guide as an "official" death - but we all know the guide certainly isn't complete or correct in many cases.

So what's the scoop behing this? What triggers it, or is it completely random? Is there a possibility of a "no choking death" fix? Or is it somehow preventable within the current confines of the game?
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "Instant Meal" bug? on: 2005 August 30, 11:02:37
I had this happen again last night - a house I've been playing for 2 generations with no problems. Neither of them are really neat sims. Two adults now live there, and three kids, and it happened to both adults simultaneously.

Luckily that "check food supplies" thing seems to do the trick, it's worked for me so far every time. Smiley I can live with it if that's all it takes to fix - keeps my pregnant sims from starving to death anyway!
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Transmission by Hari Kunzru on: 2005 August 27, 14:08:14
Sounds interesting! I will have to look for it next time I'm in the bookstore. Which is often. *lol*

I read "The Curious Incident...", Brynne, I thought it was really fascinating. And it's short, I read it in an evening, so it's a good quick read.

While we're on the topic of books, has anyone read Cloud Atlas?
It is an amazing read, I highly recommend it. I can't even describe it without spoiling too much.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: RC Car? on: 2005 August 27, 13:54:47
Here's an old thread on that - removing the RC car has worked for me, I haven't had this bug recur since.

21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nothing weirder than a Maxis Nanny on: 2005 August 26, 23:26:10
I haven't gotten the no social worker hack - but I won't hire a Maxis nanny. Nonono.

Instead, what I did was create a household of SuperNannies I made in CAS. They all have maxed skills and personalities using Insiminator. When both parents have to go to work, I use Inge's teleporter plus painting to summon one of the nannies and then move them in. When the kids don't need tending, I use macrotastics to make them clean and garden, and power idle when they're not needed to do anything. When a parent comes home, I have the SuperNanny "find own place" and leave. Next time I'm in the Neighborhood screen, I add her back to the main house.

I also use the money order hack to send them $100 for the day's services, to make it more realistic.

I know I could do it easier with the bottomless bottle & no social worker - but it gets to be too dull when they are toooo easy to care for, and I like the storytelling aspect of hiring the supernanny.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Are you going to buy Nightlife? on: 2005 August 25, 01:57:04
I'm getting it the minute it's available locally - (I don't do pre-orders, it seems I've heard too many stories of it not being worth it for all the hassles) - and patience is not a virtue of mine. I know it will probably be broken -  but I'm like a kid at Christmas, I have to see what all the new thingies are and what they do, and I have to see it NOW. Luckily (?) I will be back in the full swing of work in September, so I won't have a ton of time to play, so hopefully I will be behind everyone else in bug-discovery. That's what happened with the jump bug, everyone was getting it before me because I hadn't logged enough hours in the game, and I was able to avoid it until the fix came out.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "Instant Meal" bug? on: 2005 August 23, 17:48:02
It happens to me in single-story homes. I downloaded a few starter homes, unfurnished. And sometimes it happens to one sim and not the other, sometimes both. (Most of my sim houses currently have two adults. Some with kids and some not.)

Hairfish - intersting theory. I know at least one of the houses where this happens, I have a super-neat sim. I will have to check this out when I next boot up that house.

Baddmark - Bahaha! That made me laugh. I have returned, lips unscathed by bears or other predatory beasts.  Grin

Well, I'm glad I'm not alone anyway - misery loves company doncha know.  Grin

Thanks for all the info everyone - if you add more & I don't reply, I'm not ignoring you, I'm leaving town & won't be back til Aug. 22. Going camping - I hope a bear doesn't rip my lips off.  Tongue Maybe by the time I get back there will a patch to fix this and ALL BUGS!!!! EVEN MOSQUITOES!!!!111!!!!! Hahahhahaha. Ha. Oh, it is to laugh. Oy, my sides.
