TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Maxis Skin creating conflict with Apartment Life. Skinner and modder, plz help!
|
on: 2010 June 09, 12:21:24
|
I have been checking my downloads lately and found that there were several downloads creating conflicts with Apartment Life. These conflicts have lead to Sims failing to become a wtich or a wizard... When the NPC "good witch" or "bad witch" cast the spell on a Sim, the Sim simply would not be transformed into a witch or a wizard.
And it's ridiculously that one of the file causing such a problem is a skin made by EA Taiwan for Nightlife expansion pack. Back in 2005, EA Taiwan released a bonus CD along with Nightlife and inside the CDs, there were several files for exclusive skins. One of those files unfortunately was problematic.
I used SimPE and open the file and couldn't understand why such a conflict arose. Could someone good at skinning and modding check out the file for me? Thx a lot!!

USDA Grade A BS. Witchy stuff works fine for me in my game.
Pescado... I tested it again... Sims can become witch but it is for sure the CS Core Functoin removed the flashing thingy surrounding the good witch and the bad witch. I only have "cs_corefuncs.package" in my downloads for now... I'm a bit confused... thx for helping!!

I just discovered that after putting "cs_corefuncs.package" to the Downloads folder, Sims wont be able to become witches or wizards. Beside, the NPCs "good witch" and "bad witch" will no longer have those flashing thingy around them... Any1 knows how to fix this kinda issue?

1. This is the wrong way to post a log. Attach it. 2. Have you even tried locating the problem file? We are not here to do your work for you. Start with anything dealing with witches, effects, and custom skins.
Oh yea, I haven't checked the custom skins... Almost forgot even if you've disabled CC in games, custom skins, walls, floors, terrains will still affect the game... Thx for the reminder. UPDATE: Okay, now I'm pretty sure it's due to something from my Downloads folder. The problem's gone when I've completely removed everything from "Downloads". BTW, is there a way I can track down on which download has caused such a problem

I tried to remove all download from my Catalog\Bin and other folders such as Override, Skin, Object.... But the problem still persists... I am now thinking if this is caused by The Sims 2 Store... As I never updated that before... BTW, the problem log said something about animiation. Is that I've got missing animations?

Oops.. Sorry, log attached.. I've already tried everything I could... I disabled custom contents but the problem still persists... I guess it's due to some hack I installed into the Sims directories under Program File... I put them there so as to get rid of the CC asterisks, but most of them are object fixes only. So, I really have no idea what would have led to such a problem.

knightguy is correct, the first one is in the Asian Fusion collection and the second is in the Art Nouveaulicious collection. They are probably looking at the store and at the hair itself and seeing them and not looking in the collections to see if they are part of one of them.
You are right. They belong to exisiting collections. jacksparrow, please check out older threads.

How can I get these hairstyles? , Please first of all you might wanna look in TS2 Store Stuff Collections thread since this thread is older an proably dosent have 2/3 the store stuff an these hairs are part 2 differnet collections so either look up TS2 Store Stuff Collections or look up both TS2 Store Art Nouveaulicious Collection & TS2 Store Asian Fusion Collection I think she's trying to tell us that the skins are new and no one here has them yet.

woah! thanks Darcy, I've always admired your work, it's incredible that eaxis always sell unpolished stuff, they couldn't care less for users Is there any chance that you can make something like the SP Objects Fix, but for EPs? I know it might be a lot to ask, but that would be a very useful fix for those poorly made objects/interactions What do you mean by SP Objects Fix? Which SP Objects are broken and how?

I have tried every thing on the net I can find and still haven't found a way to translate the stuff packs I bought from Thai to English. Can any body help me please?
I have Vista, and no regedit doesn't work with my OS's setup.
Why doesn't regedit work? Coz you are not the admin? But I guess if you aren't the admin, you can't install games, right? If you are not the admin to the OS, there's no way we can help. Sorry, dude.

There's one thing I knew about TSR: they were bad; and there's one thing I didn't know about TSR: they had become that bad! Oh gosh! It's such a shame to the Sims community when the so-claimed largest and oldest Sims fan site has grown that nasty and hideous !!! Let's mourn for the days when there are no such sites!

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: store edition - can't get rid of it

Somehow, I think I am lucky to be still using the old Store Edition. There are nothing really new in the new version any way. Futhermore, it looks like EA will not make any more new exclusives for Store! Sims 3 is out in June, and I guess they will add AL stuff and M&G stuff to the store somewhen between April and June.
So, if you still have a copy of the old Store Edition, you better use it! I backed it up before but not sure if you can install it without EADM.

BTW, can you choose to ignore the fact that you have a newer version of the game installed and go on using SimPE as usual? I remember when I already had M&G but SimPE only had a version up to Apartment Life, I just ignored that warning and kept on using SimPE. Can't you do the same here? I don't know much about the new Store as I have never tried it myself. In general, this is a very bad idea. You were lucky because Mansions and Gardens has very few changes from Apartment Life. There's a patch to change SimPE for AL to M&G on ambertation. But I guess Store Edition adds nothing new. Not sure about this.

sims2SC.exe is the application file for Sims 2 Store. With the new store edition installed, this should be the file you should the one. (Correct me if I am wrong) Sim2Launcher.exe is another application that starts up a window providing you info about what EPs and SPs you have and some news from the official site. You can also start the game there. I guess the only problem you are facing is your Sims' version is newer than SimPE and that's all. PS. BTW, I have made a post at SimPE's forum to see if they will make a newer version of SimPE for this. Let's hope for some good news.

Any more news about the ice block thing? I care about it a lot and I guess many people would love to see it functionable too. Now that Richief has got the working sculpture (for hobby enthusiam, for making money or for boosting"environment") and J.M. Pescado has both the working ice effect and sound effect, the object should now be Sims2-ready??? I've got some nostalgia here when people are still converting stuff from Pet Stories to Sims 2. I guess the ice block table is the last object that can be converted yet still functionable. PS. Maybe let me make those Pet Show items decorative items for Sims 2
