Alrighty then. I don't remember having scoped the room, but I shall delete and replace my Seasons with AL.

Just to make sure that you didn't misunderstand, when you replaced the mod, you re-downloaded the Seasons Director's Cut again and not the AL one, right? Although the mod is the same in all the Director's Cuts, each cut also contains other mods that are specifically made for that EP. So if you downloaded the AL Director's cut, you would also be getting mods that are made just for AL and that would definitely cause game problems.

Romance mod was updated today. Re-download that and it should stop the jealousy emitter errors.
3  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Jealousy Controller Error? on: 2009 December 12, 11:27:22
The updated romancemod is throwing errors now every time a romantic interaction is contemplated by both playables and non-playables on all lot types.
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Temperature Receptivity Errors on: 2009 July 01, 22:28:51
I've had this error with townie walk-bys before, but only rarely. I'm now playing a hood that has all 4 seasons set to winter and am getting this error more often. The name in the error log is always that of the townie.

I noticed that townies that walk by often (but are not invited in to warm up), turn blue. In other words, it happens to the townies that I have taken no interest in. They keep walking past the house getting colder and colder each time. I have had townies completely freeze and keel over, but only rarely. Now that part is funny. The part that isn't funny is that I get this error more often than I get frozen townies.
5  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims constantly resetting due to error with "Attraction Score" on: 2009 June 29, 23:34:32
Did you try nuking the attraction markers with the lot debugger?
6  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims constantly resetting due to error with "Attraction Score" on: 2009 June 29, 22:28:10
I was ready to suggest that. If you don't want teens and adults attracted to each other, but want to solve the skunk attraction problem, then use this mod:

Skunk Attraction Fix

If you aren't familiar with that site, you should know that TwoJeffs puts out high quality mods backed by excellent support.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Looking for advice on computer fixing/building. on: 2009 June 25, 04:58:52

Background first: I am pretty sure my motherboard is dying. About a month ago it started introducing me to the "Will it or won't it" game, where when you push the power button you have a fairly random chance of getting more than a low key beep beep beep and  louder than usual fan noise, but no video display (monitor is fine, DVI jack is fine, etc.). Usually it kicks in on the 3rd or 4th try.

Those beeps that you hear are actually telling you what problem your computer is having. Get out your motherboard manual (or look it up online) and find the sequence of beeps that matches what you are hearing. It may be something as simple as your video card or memory is slightly loose and needs to be pushed into the slot better.

The first step in problem solving is identifying the problem. After you know what your problem is, you can make a better decision on how to go about solving it.

I took that a different way entirely.  I think she may have been referring to the "westernizing" plastic surgery that is popular in some Asian countries.  I didn't take it to be a comment about the surgeons themselves.

You may have a point as your lamentable illustration demonstrates. However, the before and after Sim pictures did not look like an example of a westernized Asian so I doubt that funnykid was referring to this practice. Besides, which scenario is more likely? Someone who refers to themselves as funnykid made a racist joke, or someone who refers to themselves as funnykid was able to comment on the changing mores of the Asian public?

As funnykid has chosen to remain silent on this issue, there is nothing I can do but wonder why she would allow me to misinterpret her comment without defending herself.
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What, in Heaven's name, is up with traits?! Scary Pic included on: 2009 June 16, 12:55:39
Cheesy!! I didn't know if I shouild be offended by the whole Korean statement.  My gut feeling was "yes", but "tard" may work depending on whether or not that's a politically correct statement by itself.

I don't understand how you can be a member of this site since 2006 and yet not understand the MATY use of the word tard, but evidently, you need to lurk moar. Xenophobic tards have no place here.

The "Before" looks more natural, whereas the "After" looks like she had little tweaks done by a Korean plastic surgeon.

You didn't know if you should be offended by this statement, which means you weren't offended, but rather asked yourself if being offended was the politically correct thing to do.

Would you have continued to be ambivalent if unfunny12 had used your race or country of origin instead of Korean? What if he had said Afro-American plastic surgeon? Would your politically correct conscious then tell you that you should be offended?

Unfunny12 could have easily said "poorly trained plastic surgeon" but instead chose to use wording specifically crafted to disparage a large group of people.

I'm not trying to pick on you, OpiumGirl. No one else in this thread seems to be concerned that two sovereign states and an entire race were denigrated, so I guess it's OK to demean anyone that happens to reside in Onebiglumpistan. That is, until someone with authority tells us that it is politically incorrect, at which point we should modify our behavior and pretend that was our stance all along. Because there are neither rights nor wrongs, just political correctness, and thinking for ourselves is just too much of a hassle.

I agree. I like the jaw of the "Before" more as well. The "Before" looks more natural, whereas the "After" looks like she had little tweaks done by a Korean plastic surgeon. I guess beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.

Just so I know what kind of Tard you are, do you have a problem with Koreans, plastic surgeons, or just when a person is both at the same time?

13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Game Freeze one minute before carpool and school bus due on: 2009 April 21, 22:38:32
Just to let you know, forcing errors with the batbox does exactly that, forces an error on everything. So just because you saw the error pop-up for each item, that doesn't mean that there was something wrong with the item (the instructions warn that you should turn off testingcheats before using that function because of the huge number of pop-ups you get). Forcing errors on everything is a way to "unstick" something that may be 'stuck in use', for example, and can often fix a problem. If the problem continues after that point, then your problem lies somewhere else.

I'm a little confused about what appears to be conflicting info in your statements:
Out of the past four lots that I've tried to play in that neighbourhood, three have had the freezing problem.  The other two just froze at a random point (but again, one minute before the hour) when nothing of significance was supposed to happen.
AND:
- The carpool does behave properly on other lots

Could you clarify what you mean then about behaving properly on other lots?

If you wait long enough, does your game finally come out of the freeze state? I had a problem where I would get a freeze when certain types of Sims would walk onto the lot as a walk-by. One example would be a werewolf. The game chooses him as a walk-by, but then it has to stop and ask itself, "at the moment, should he look like a werewolf or should he have his regular appearance?" If I left the game alone long enough, it would finally unfreeze and the Sim could be seen as a walk-by. Another example is a Sim who was last seen blue from cold or with a tan or sunburn. If your problem is being caused by a walk-by, that would explain why it happens in your used hood, but not in a hood where you wouldn't yet have any Sims that fit that profile.

Other times, the freeze will occur when a Sim on your own lot changes states, especially if this is the first time a Sim of that skintone has changed to that state. So if you have a Sim who gets a sunburn, and this is the first time any Sim with that skintone got a sunburn, there will be a 'freeze' until the game changes the Sim to their new appearance.  But in all of these examples, the game would eventually unfreeze and continue to play normally, if you just left it alone long enough.

The last question is what exactly happened when you tried to move that family into a lot from the lot bin. Just saying that you are unable to load them into a new lot doesn't tell much about what the problem is.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Something is Still Borked... on: 2009 April 21, 01:34:03
Well, I defraged and made the computer happy, but now the game won't start at all!   It appears in task manager for a couple of seconds then dissapears.

This is quite common and is caused by a corrupted game cache.

Delete Groups.cache in C:\Documents and Settings\YourNameHere\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2

It will be recreated when you restart the game.
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Game Freeze one minute before carpool and school bus due on: 2009 April 18, 04:48:39
Let's break the problem down a bit. I take it that you are not using a custom career for the Sim that the carpool is picking up because you said that you removed all CC and the problem continued. Does the carpool behave properly on your other lots? You said it freezes if any schoolbus or carpool is due to arrive. Is that correct? If only one of them is due to arrive, does it still freeze? If that is the case and you said your portals were fine, then I would suspect something left in the street (it may be invisible) that is blocking their path.

Check the nuke menu of the batbox for stuck kicky bags and that sort of thing. The stuck object remover is great for deleting other visible and invisible stuck items, but I can't remember if it works in the street. It can delete a portal, so if that happens, leave the lot without saving. There used to be a problem with stuck invisible spaceships, but I'm pretty sure that problem was fixed awhile back.  If you've had an abduction on that lot you might want to do a search here for the relevant thread.

If the carpool is working correctly on your other lots and you can't find the invisible obstruction on this one, you may just have to move out the family and bulldoze this particular lot.
16  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Game Freeze one minute before carpool and school bus due on: 2009 April 16, 20:59:40
Do you have testingcheats enabled? If not, enable it before time for the bus/carpool to arrive and see if you get an error. If so, post it here, along with your other relevant info such as which EPs you are running, as per the instructions in the FAQ.
17  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: What am I doing wrong? I really borked it and I'm desperate! :^( on: 2009 April 15, 19:45:58
I had a huge problem when I enabled indexing for the Windows XP Search function. Once I turned it off, the problems decreased. It still took a ton of registry cleaning to get everything working smoothly again as it was crapping all over it. But just disabling it was enough to stop the stupid random reboots while trying to run The Sims.
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: changeLotZoning Community doesn't generate community mailbox? on: 2009 April 05, 18:31:23
When you change the zoning to Comm, the residential mailbox will still be showing. Save the lot and exit to the hood. Then re-enter the lot. The Comm mailbox and trashcan should be showing when you enter the lot the second time. I save again just to be on the safe side, but the 2nd save may not even be necessary.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Cur Tails and Magic Sugar Rules? on: 2009 March 30, 21:22:14
Essence of Cur Tails and Magically Spiced Sugar are opposing items that can be made by an evil or good witch, respectively. I've done extensive searching without finding much about these except that I find more articles when I spell it "Cure Tails".

After a witch makes the item, they have to give it to their "victim". I could find no way to use it directly on a Sim. The Sim that now owns it does not have the option to consume it, though they can be influenced to do it...sometimes. There's the rub. The option doesn't always appear, and I can't figure out what is necessary for it to do so.

The first time I used cur tails successfully was with an evil warlock with zero niceness who gave it to his son. He then influenced his son to drink it as there was no option for him to consume it himself. The potion worked, but soon wore off. I did it again and used the batbox to make it permanent. Evil witches have a spell that makes a Sim a jerk for awhile and nice witches have a good mood spell, so I felt that the consumables should be permanent. I can't remember how many nice points the son had to start. He was then given a few extra of these potions to pass on to his spawn because I had no plans to make him a witch.

Son grows up and gives one of the potions to his own son. This son has 4 nice points, but he can't be influenced to drink it. I try all of the other family members (most of whom were BFFs), including the warlock who made the potion, but the option to influence him is not there. So I start messing with his personality to find out why the option is missing. Perhaps he needs to be nicer. So I drag his niceness up to various levels, but the option never appears. I messed around with some of the other personality traits, but nothing seemed to work. He is a teen, but his father was a teen when he consumed his. I also gave a potion to a playable neighbor and a teen in that household consumed it.

I haven't played the good witch as much, but the same thing seems to happen with the magically spiced sugar.

So has anyone figured out the rules?
20  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Kid's error after school on Driveway on: 2009 March 26, 19:23:21
I'm trying to track down the pregnancy controller problem. I last played a few days ago. Error logs from that session show over 100 pregnancy controllers on my lot, none on comm lots. My daughter played last night. Her error logs show 1 pregnancy controller, which would be correct as she has one pregnant Sim.  No one is pregnant on my lot, not even a pet. Error logs from before this time have already been deleted so aren't available for comparison.

Could it be a corrupt lot? Corrupt play session? If a mod is causing it, wouldn't it be consistent across lots? If not, what could cause this type of discrepancy? Could I have done something different on my lot to set off such a chain of controllers? My lot had the first pregnancy that occurred in the hood. It was her lot that had the alien pregnancy, not mine where the excess controllers are showing up.

A more thorough inspection of my mods did reveal one other hack that touches pregnancy controllers. That is fwiffo's mod that chooses from 4 alien fathers instead of always using the default one. It shouldn't conflict with Rufio's as it didn't conflict with Smonoff's and doesn't show up in HCDU. Plus again, the excess controllers are on the lot where no alien abductions have ever happened.

I need to understand this better to track down what is causing it since HCDU isn't showing a problem.
21  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Kid's error after school on Driveway on: 2009 March 24, 21:02:05
Thank you so much for taking time to make a fix. So one kid thinks the driveway is her parent? Come to think of it, this child is an orphan. So was her mother, and her grandmother, who were the other 2 Sims that consistently errored. Actually, their mothers, who lived in the house, died and their fathers were townies. Each time, the kid remained in the house and were raised by their relatives. All genealogy charts are correct. Thinking back, each of these kids had no errors until after their mom died.

As to the pregnancy controllers, I'm assuming that they should be deleted when a pregnancy ends, so yes 40 controllers is wrong. This hood was made from a clean, empty template. There are only two houses. One is mine and the other is played by my daughter. She wanted us to write an intertwined story. We agreed to legacy type play to keep this from dragging on forever. This hood is on generation 4 and no unawesome things have been done, so there should be little to no corruption.

As 12's tend to do, she over-spawns. Her founder had 14 kids and her lot has 2 current pregnancies. I only have one or two kids per generation and no current pregnancies. I have nothing concerning pregnancy in my mods other than TwoJeff's quads and trips. Wait. recently I traded off Smonoff's mod (females get alien pregnant instead of males) for the one by Rufio which does the same but includes dance sphere abductions. http://faiuwle.pbwiki.com/Sims2Hacks  My daughter did have an alien pregnancy via telescope. Should I ask Rufio to look at that part of her mod or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Thanks again for the fix. Hopefully, I will have time to try it out this evening.

ETA: I clicked the download link after I wrote the post. I didn't realize that you were completely aware of the problem being related to dead parents.
22  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Kid's error after school on Driveway on: 2009 March 22, 22:41:51
Most of my kids get off the bus and put away their homework without problems. But sometimes the game will choose one kid to walk onto the driveway after school.  Once that happens, that same kid will always walk to the driveway when getting off of the bus. When they hit the driveway, I get this error. Reset makes everyone lose their homework and brings home any kids that are still at school.
23  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: First Cousins Once Removed and Second Cousins Treated as Family + In-laws Fix on: 2009 March 16, 02:20:57
Yes, thanks for clearing that up.

To me, it seems that these two statements contradict each other and that was confusing (empashis mine).

"In the unmodded game, sims consider all relatives of their spouses to be relatives, and that includes cousins, aunts/uncles, grandparents, etc."

"...if you have inlawsfixmaxis (or, presumably, if you don't have either fix) then only the parents/siblings/etc. of the sim's first spouse will be considered family."
24  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: First Cousins Once Removed and Second Cousins Treated as Family + In-laws Fix on: 2009 March 14, 18:45:20
I had a difficult time understanding the first paragraph under "In-laws fix" even though I read it several times. So I will pick just this sentence to clarify at the moment.

If you don't care about/don't want in-laws other than mother/father/sister/brother/children being recognized, or you do use the marriage of convenience arch, download inlawsfixnew.package.

If I use inlawsfixnew.package it will only recognize mother/father/sister/brother/children in-law relationships when I use the standard Maxis marriage or Maxis arch. In addition, use of the marriage of convenience arch will allow for these same relationships but for all of the spouses of polygamous marriages.

Did I understand this correctly?

So do I need to make my adult male clothing "enabled for elders" to use this mesh?
