Wow! Great job, phoenixc. I especially love the brick pattern you chose for the exterior, as well as your decorating in the loft space.
I'm still hemming and hawing about my creation. It's not finished yet, but it sort of went from ultra-modern to 1970s throwback modern. I'm going to finish it regardless because I personally think it's pretty cool, but it means I'll have to do another one.

Unfortunately I am on a work deadline of 6th January so may not be able to build something in time, but I'll enjoy following the thread. In fact, over this time of the year you may find this is too short a timespan, we were doing a month in the challenges earlier in the year.
Oh, I chose the due date fairly arbitrarily (and selfishly, because school starts back up five days after that and I want to get my grubby paws on some awesome houses before then). If there's not much completed by then, I can always extend it to the end of January. Also, I have added a small rule change in the original thread to allow for wood and metal in the design, because it's difficult to take a house with a turquoise faucet seriously.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Lot Challenge: December/January? Ultra-Modern

I've been off the site for a few months because of law school, but right after my last exam, I started jumping back into the Sims and I'm really enjoying the ultra-modern objects from ITF. However, I don't want to spend the next month building super-modern houses for myself. I realize the interest in challenges has dwindled, but I figure this is worth a shot. If it doesn't work out, at least we will all have a few new houses to download. I kept the rules fairly loose, simply because I would like to see a lot of variety and let people use their unique ideas. Due date: January 5th. RULES:Lot Size and Cost:Any lot size and any cost is acceptable. House Size - Choose One:2 bedroom, 1 bath 3 bedrooms, 2 baths 4 bedrooms, 3 baths Each choice may include an additional half-bath. Only one bathroom may contain the "all-in-one" bathroom box thingy; the rest must have an actual toilet, sink, and shower/tub. At least one bedroom must be for infants, toddlers, and/or children. Objects and Rooms:The house must be completely furnished. ITF objects are great, but not required (not everyone likes or has ITF, and there are plenty of objects that are modern from prior packs). The idea is to create ultra-modern style houses, so any objects that achieve that purpose are acceptable. "Hobbies" area: A study, a workout room, a workshop, or outdoor space or basement for various skilling objects (you may include as few or as many skill items as you like). "Social" area: Somewhere to host a party, whether it be an outdoor patio or pool, or a place in the house, basement, or roof for dancing or gaming or drinking, and so on and so forth. Vehicles: There must be at least one parking space or two bicycle thing-a-ma-bobs. Color Schemes:I really enjoyed the restriction on colors from the Tiny House Challenge that jesslla created. However, I want to expand it a bit, because sometimes it was too restrictive to decorate an entire house in only three colors. Below are the available color schemes. Every room must have one of these schemes (including the outside of the house), but it is per room, so you can end up using all of them if you have eight separate rooms. You may use as few or as many schemes as you like. I have provided the hex codes for each color below the picture, from left to right, in order to keep the colors consistent in the contest, and to save you time trying to figure it out in-game. ETA: After beginning to build, I realized something kind of important, so there is a slight rule change: You may use wood and metal in addition to the color schemes below, because houses tend to have those things for faucets, window molding, and so forth.BLUE: #cbdee5 #434a64 #a03733 GREEN: #81a589 #f4efd2 #faf9e7 GREY: #929286 #bac8c9 #e8e8de NEUTRAL: #b49670 #f2f2e6 #975a3d ORANGE: #e3a26c #fde1a2 #0166b4 PURPLE: #7e829b #edeae1 #806355 RED: #89292a #f8f8ee #313737 YELLOW: #f4e8be #eeb570 #7b7263

You know, the little lip pictures don't do anything. You don't have to spew thousands of pointless, content-free posts everywhere in a desperate bid to collect them all.
Perhaps you should follow your own advice. The fucktard is strong with this one.

I only have AM installed and I have the sound issue. Later on today I plan to install Twallan's no CD mod and take out AM, try a new hood and see if I get the issue. If I do, then we can rule out AM.
I did wonder if it's some kind of AM polling issue.
My sound issues started the minute I tried to buy boats for my sims.
I had no sound issue until I installed AM. I realised there was an option in AM that stated "SmarterVehicleChooser - Sims will more intelligently choose which cars to use." Which could affect the choice in regards to jet skis etc. I disabled SmarterVehicle to see if that would fix the sound. It did not, although it does stop Sims from driving watercraft on roads. I am completely at a loss here. I cannot find one common denominator causing the sound bug. It's extremely irritating, because the game is unplayable with the bug, but even more unplayable without AM.

The released version of AM, when combined with Overwatch and/or ErrorTrap is now crashing the game. The test version did not do this. I suppose it's technically not an AM problem, but I'm throwing it out there anyway.
Sound issues remain; I haven't found a pattern to it yet, so I don't know if it's AM or not, or what is causing it to happen.

I don't understand why someone here is whining about EA (yet again)... they sell cheaply-made piss-f*cking crap for top bucks, it is a known fact since TS1, or even earlier. If you got S3 thinking that all would be better all of a sudden, you are a moron.
On a more related matter, I like EP10 better than that Supercrappual EP with not-undead pseudozombies and all that dumb wizard/fairy/hairy stuff no-one can use.
*Bitches about people complaining about piss-fucking crap. *Proceeds to complain about piss-fucking crap.

I think I have worked out what is causing the sound issues - I have that stupid swan peddle boat in IP and my sound stopped when some townie was on it. Managed to nuke it, no issue.
I thought this might have been an issue as well. Today I decided to install Errortrap (which I have used before) and Overwatch (which I have never used). I am not well-versed in these mods, but when I first opened my save game, it took a good five minutes for the game to "think" before it started responding to anything. Once it did, things ran smoothly for a few Sim days. I played without sound problems for longer than usual. Then it kicked in while my Sim was SCUBA diving. I scanned the 'hood and found a guy sitting in a boat with the "route failure" thought bubble. I reset him and the sound returned, but only for a few seconds. Then, that night, Overwatch did its thing, but the sound problems remained (kicking in and out). Now my game is doing that freezing thing, where everything is frozen except sound effects and ambient movement (birds/water/trees/etc.). Additionally, boats are disappearing from my Sim's inventory. When I find them in the world, they are unselectable. This might be twallan's mods, though, so I'll have to test further. I am really at a loss here, but I would like to suggest discussing the sound problems on a different thread, as I really don't think it has anything to do with AM.

I also have the sound bug. It's unlike any sound problem I've ever experienced in the game before. It sounds like someone is picking the needle up off of a record, and then it goes silent. It pops back in without stuttering to catch up or anything.
CAS is also EXTREMELY slow for me, but I'm betting it's not AM-related.

Oh, I'm SO happy this one will roll over. I have a bazillion ideas, but no chance to implement them until mid-July.
I don't know shit about the Vampire Diaries, but I am impressed by the sheer size of that house.

One color wood to be used throughout the whole house. Basically, you end up having four colors to decorate with. I went pretty strict on my houses, even patterns used only the color scheme I chose. I'd like you to stick as close to your chosen scheme as possible, even though it does lend itself toward a bit of a boring house (color wise).
What I did was save the photo with the color schemes in your first post, open it in paint, click on colors in the picture with the "color picker," and then go to the properties to write down the RGB numbers. Some of the photos have up to 8 colors in them, but I tried to use the three or four MAIN colors for most of the stuff, and secondary colors for accents and what not. ETA: I just scrolled through this whole thread again, and found no fewer than ten building, design, and/or layout ideas I'd never thought to try before. So BAA to all of you; I'm seriously impressed with everyone's creations.

Thank you everyone for your compliments! Building and designing are my favorite things about the Sims. While the color scheme rule is restricting, I'm actually really enjoying the challenge of it, because it forces me to be more experimental with how I decorate (like using patterns on things that are usually wood like the desk, or not using the default patterns on objects). I like the money limit, too, because it's harder to make the cheap stuff look nice. There are a lot of really nice designs on the thread so far. I love seeing what people come up with because it gives me ideas I hadn't thought of before. Can't wait to see what else is submitted! I've got one more house I'm working on, but that's going to have to be it for me. I MUST study for exams if I expect to complete this law school venture.
